QT Pro - first frame of exported movie distorted and gray

Every time I trim a movie and then export it form Quicktime Pro, usually just by doing a "Save as", the first frame is distorted and gray, and looks like it has the Emboss filter applied to it. This happens all the time and I can't figure it out. Driving me nuts...

Why won't final cut pro x let me "export movie"?

Every time i select the export movie option nothing happens. No windows or messages appear. Please help!

and i select "share" then go down to "export movie" and select that. after i do that, nothing happens. usually a window would pop up but nothing will show up now. no matter how many times i click it.

Hi guys,
i am capturing HD movies to my final cut express HD..Edit them, expert as quick time movie (option self contain is OFF). Then i test the movies and they are like they should be. Then i import them into IDVD and IDVD accept some and some not. So when i check the not accepted movies they only play the sound. While 10 minutes before the movie was working correct.
After a few times (making the same movies again and again on the same maner) IDVD accepted alle the movies. But when i wanted to burn the dvd it gives me a error about a missing movie file, again and again?
It worked all okay when i made my other dvds.
The only thing changed at this system is that i upgraded to Ilife'11
What am i doing wrong?

Could it be that the link is broken after i change the movie from folder to a >other folder ?
The FCE Project File or the export?
Sequence>Render Only>Mixdown.
This action makes one temp file out of all your audio. It makes a difference to exported files playing correctly in the audio department.

Can I copy a single frame from a movie clip and paste it over a bad blank frame in the same clip?

I have two frames in my video clip that are solid green. I would like to copy the last good frame and paste over the green video frames for the movie to play without the green frames popping up. Is thispossible?

You can install an App called MPEG Streamclip or you can simply pull up the clip in full screen and take a screen shot using (command+shift+3) or using (command+shift+4) to click and drag to create a box around what you would like to take a snap shot of.

Why doesn't the poster image show up as the first frame of my movie?

I am new at this and maybe misunderstand the Help screen. I have a bunch of short movies which I have laid out in iWeb and published to my iDisk. I want them to load with a still image from the movie rather than show up as a black frame. The meager Help info says to drag the playhead to the desired frame and then Set Poster Frame. I have done that and saved the file and then brought that into iWeb. But then the movie loads with the start point at that frame instead of at 00:00. If I do a Set Poster Frame and then pull the playhead back to zero and save it simply loads a black box again.
What step am I missing or I am using the wrong procedure altogether?

Exported movies freeze and won't play.

Whenever exporting an iMovie project, (i'm using iMovie HD, although I do have iMovie '08, and if i'm correct, the problem started when I tried using iMovie '08.) the finished movie's video will always freeze about halfway through, while the audio will continue to play. This happens regardless of what I am exporting it as (mpeg, .mov, .avi, etc.). Anybody else have this problem and/or know what to do about it?

I have had that problem, and worse in that it wouldn't export at all, if my iMovie is composed of many, many clips or has many added audio clips.
My solution is to 'share' as quicktime, full-quality, resulting in a quicktime movie of my iMovie. I then open a new iMovie project, import this new quicktime movie and export that back to my camcorder. It works perfectly!
I also will use the new iMovie with the quicktime movie in iDVD if my original iMovie stutters or skips on playback.
You will have to redo chapter markers as they do not 'share' to quicktime.
The only caution is that you need enough free drive space to create the quicktime movie. It should be smaller in GB size than the original iMovie as it keeps only the footage actually in the timeline. If the quicktime version plays ok, you can delete the original iMovie.

I have no sound at all on my Mac Pro. I was watching movies online and also listening to itunes n the weekend, now no sound at all??

e in the weekend, at times with my earphones on. Now for some reason I have no sound at all not just while watching movies but also in itunes.

"Export frame" exporting first frame in clip, not frame at source playhead

I'm running Premiere Pro CC 7.2.1 on a Retina MacBook Pro with OS 10.8.5. I'm working from a project on an external drive and I noticed just today that when I go to a frame in the source window and select "export frame", it is now exporting the first frame in the source clip and not the one my playhead is on. This has never happened before, it wasn't even happening yesterday. I restarted Premiere and it appears to still be doing this. Anyone seen this bug before?

SWF export becomes distorted

Anyone got a solution for the following problem:
PROBLEM
On exporting the swf / movie or running the test movie
command - elements become distorted/jagged/blurred
Almost low quality
TASK
I want to add a preloader to the movie (which is one scene).
HOWEVER on either:
(i) adding a scene before the main scene
or
(ii) adding frames before the exisitng frames
DESCRIPTION
The error above occurs whether scene or frames are added.
If i remove the the additional frames or scene everything
goes back to normal on export.

on the first frame of your movie put this code

if that fix the issue you have to consider that this code
will affect the performance of your movie on slow computers
an refering to the preloader i thinks is depends how you are
more confortable, scenes exist to help on organizing the main
timeline so ...

Media Encoder CS5: First frame in flv is wrong

Hi,
I am a total beginner!
Client wants an .flv.
The movie I drop into the Media Encoder is being encoded just fine.
But: The first frame of the .flv is not the first frame of the movie but just black.
What's wrong ?

I have got the same problem here. I have just changed my HDDs to the following set up to the following
C : Seagate Momentus XT 500GB (2.5" 7200rpm)
D : Areca Raid Controller 1110 (3 x seagate momentus 7200rpm 2.5" Raid 0) Media Files
E/F :TB32 Raid Controller ( 2 x Seagate 3.5" 7200RPM hdd Raid 0 Partitioned) Stock footage, Media Cache and Exports
I converted my two bay workstation to 4 2.5" HDDs
The sequence I am currently exporting is 23 minutes long and is Matrox HDV 50i, with Matrox colour correction, Magic Bullet Looks and Adobe Auto contrast. This export is taking forever and it has just rendered a sixth of the sequence for 2 hours 27 minutes and indicates that 11 hours 23 minutes remains to render. CPU is not maxed out never had such awful long renders before with my previous setting which had only two logic HDDs.
This was my previous HDD set up
C : Bios Raid 0 (Western Digital Caviar Green 3.5" 7200 x 2 partitioned into C & D)
E/F :TB32 Raid Controller ( 2 x Seagate 3.5" 7200RPM hdd Raid 0 Partitioned) Stock footage, Media Cache and Exports
So currently I am not sure whether I have gone for the better or I have just worsened. I have just exported some clips with after effects and the CPU was maxed out without any sluggish perfomance.

Why QT logo when loading, not first frame

I have had a page up for a month or so. Always, the first frame of the movie shows while it is loading.

Yesterday I made some changes to the movie, and now, there is a QT logo, and when it goes, the movie is fully loaded, ready to play.
I prefer seeing the first frame, and do not know the difference in the file format I used.
they were both H.264, exported as full frame DVNTSC from FCP, compressed w/Compressor. I have tried many versions, and don't know the correct combination of streaming, download, fast start, etc. Or is this a new 'feature' of a QT upgrade?

But at which point was the fast start feature added? Is it inherent in the H.264 codec? I did not use the 'export to QT conversion' out of FCP (where the fast start option is available). I did the compression in Compressor, where I selected various speeds in the 'Web Download-QT 6 Compatible' (Mpg4), or 'Web Streaming QT 7 Compatible' (H.264) presets.
The H.264 versions look so much better, but WindozeXP people are getting a 'QT component not available' message, so I may have to go back to the mpg4

How do i Pate frames from one movie to the center of another? please help?!

what i am trying to do is, put a flash frame by frame movie into my flash web site. So i go to the frame by frame movie and hit Edit- Time line - Select all frames. i then hit Edit- Time line - Copy frames. i switch over to my web site, Create a new layer select the layer and hit Edit - Time line - Paste Frames. and the frames i copied are pasted into order and all my symbols are brought into my library. The problem is than when it is pasted its pasted in the upper left hand corner of the page on top of all my other stuff when i select the the frames of the frame by frame movie and move them to the center of the stage. It seems to work fine but when i test my movie the first frame will be fine and than some stuff goes back to the original pasted spot and some stuff will stay where i moved it to. my question is. How do you paste the frame by frame movie to the center of the stage so it does not have to be moved at all?
or else how do i move all frames and objects to where i want them and not just the first frame?

when you copy and paste frames, object positions will be maintained from the copied to the pasted frames.
if you want to edit multiple frames simultaneously, click edit multiple frames (an icon in the timeline panel just below frame 22, if you're using normal sized frames).

Can Compressor create an image of first frame?

I need to create a 320x240 jpg of the first frame of every movie I produce.
Up until recently I was using Cleaner which produced the single frame jpg plus 2 x QT files and 2 x WMV files, but I don't see how I can do this from within compressor 2.
I'd have thought this was an important part of producing video for the web, having a jpg so people know what the video is about without having to read a description below the movie!

I'm thinking the Applescript idea may work best for my situation because I need a small (15k) .jpg to display in a window that cold fusion generates dynamically when a link to specific movie comes in.
Generating a tiff, then having to convert it into a jpg, would require one more step in an already rapidly inflating production system thanks to a couple of shortcomings with Compressor 2 that I'm discovering.

First frame too large

I'm creating a preloader to place in front of my movie files,
but the first frame of the movie is so large that the preloader
doesn't appear until the movie is 50% loaded. I have an flv
playback component, which is the reason the movie is so large. How
do I get around the large movie file in order to make the preloader
appear at the beginning?

you can look it up in the Flash help docs under
MovieClipLoader. It is quite simple.. make a new FLA that is the
same dimensions as your 'main' content SWF, same fps and bg color..
open the actions panel and paste this in there. (Make sure and save
this file as myPreloader(or something) in the same directory as
your main SWF.

Output clip, first frame does not match rest of clip

If I take After Effects and create 30 seconds of red, that is r-255 g=0 b=0, then output this to tape in FCP the first frame does not look like the rest of the clip. I render out in AE using BlackMAGIC 8bit 1920x1080 size movie. Imports into FCP without complaint. Layoff to HDCAM-SR.
If I take a solid green clip and do the same thing it also changes on the first frame layoff.
If I take gray it does not change.
If I change the FCP sequence to use RGB processing (to match AE) this does not change anything.
This happens on more than one machine as well, and is restricted only to FCP.. The BlackMAGIC Deck Control software that they bundle with the cards does NOT exhibit this issue!

17 macs crankin out spots everyday.
I would like to know if other people out there see the same prob.
It looks like if something was digitized with FCP, it will output fine.
If files come from another app, the above prob results.
