QT Pro suddenly quits recording video

So now, when I go to record a new movie in QT pro, it gives me an error, and I'm sure it would be helpful to post a screenshot of the error here, but alas, that's not an option.
anyway, "The operation could not be completed. The operation could not be completed due to an unknown error. (NSError "Mac OS error -536870212" Domain=NSOSStatusErrorDomain Code=-536870212.
So I deleted QT, and reinstalled. Repaired permissions, 22 pages worth saved as a pdf, No I haven't looked over the log...
Anyone know why, previously I could record movies with my firewire cam, and now I can't, no updates have been done, nothing on my system has changed.... I tried reinstalling a new version of QT 7.2, seems to have installed fine, restarts, optimizes sys performance, then THEN, it's not in my System applications folder, or my user applications folder. it simply not there. So I copied the app from another installed partition, but I still can't record. My camera works in other apps, just not in QT.
Anyone??

I am having the same problem with the same error code. I have also tried reinstalling, changing ports for the iSight and all the rest. This is JUST a problem in quicktime. The camera works in all other applications. Let me know if you come up with anything.

Quicktime Pro Won't Record Video or Audio

I'm trying to record a movie with Quicktime Pro 7.5 on my MacBook, using the built in iSight. I can see myself on the screen live, but when I press the red record button, I just instantly get this message.
Recording failed to record a movie.
Ditto for audio.
I quit, restarted the computer, to no avail. What's up?

When I had this problem awhile back, it was because I had set QuickTime Player to open with Rosetta previously when troubleshooting a problem. That might be something you want to check as well.
Also, try creating a new user to see if you can capture under that user. (That's how I successfully determined what my problem was)

Computer all of a sudden quit playing videos.

Sometimes just looks like endless buffering and other times hear a sharp squealing noise. Was playing You Tube videos just fine but then played a video from another site and have problems every since then. This is really frustrating and so far have found no solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ability to record video in QT Pro on Win 8.1

Just bought QT 7 pro for Windows registration key. App states it is registered QT pro for Windows, have downloaded and installed version 7.5.x and app shows registered as QT Pro.
I see no create new movie recording options under this QT Pro install on win8.1 on this sufrace pro I am helping this guy with. On my Macs in QT pro I can record video, and see no option of that here in the Windows QT pro version. Do I need a different download or for some unfathomable reason does Windows QT pro not support video recording. I bought the win version for this guy assuming it would be just like my macs..I have working video cameras connected to the machine, as well as a built in webcam...
Hoping its an ID-10-T error on my part, but do not see video options...help is appreciated

Quicktime Pro recording video - dimensions presets

It appears that the QT Pro presets for recording video (all two options) depend in part on what maching you're using it on -
On my G5, the videos recorded are 320 X 240, which is fine for my purposes... but on my Powerbook (with which I'll be doing the actual recording), the videos are 240 X 180, which is too small for my purposes.
Has anyone discovered a way to change these settings? Or to "fool" QT Pro into thinking it's on a different machine so that it will allow for larger dimensions?
Failing that - any suggestions for other software to record 3-4 hour meetings using an iSight and a Powerbook? (I've tried BTV, but can't get the file size to quality ratio anywhere near as good as QT Pro, and BTV seems to create huge swap files or something that make several hours of recording impossible).

Thanks, QuickTimeKirk... I've got SnapzPro and gave it a shot, having it record the QT Pro record window (without having QT record, of course)... but one of the things I like about using QT Pro itself is that it appears to do the capture and the compression all at once -- i.e. no post-processing needed. This is ideal because the plan is to copy the movie to a USB thumb drive for the client at the end of the session; waiting for a 3 hour video to save and convert/compress won't work (hence something like iVezeen, while good, won't do).
Anyway, I have managed to change the dimensions via the .plist file that applies to my Powerbook. The next thing I want to try to change (if possible) is the framerate - it doesn't really need to be as high as it is for our purposes, and would cut down size (and processing cpu usage?) if I could reduce it to 15 or 20fps. I can't find that setting anywhere in the .plist files though.
Any ideas?

Iphone 3gs will no longer play my recorded video's

i downloaded just dance autodance app onto my iphone and everything was fine and normal now all of a sudden my recorded video's no longer play but still play the sound to it the just dance app works fine on my boyfriends iphone, i have tried removing it and re-installing it but its still the same, can anyone help please x

Does any software exist that will allow a macbook or a macbook pro user to record video with their built in isight camera at the top of the screen? If so, let me know. I need to document countless hours of reading the forums...

iMovie will allow you to record from your built in iSight as well.

Brutal error message OSStatus error 2003332927 Can not record video/audio

I have QT pro 7.6 and since a couple of weeks ago, I have been unable to record video or audio.
Any Ideas what this error code means and how I can fix it?

Hi there.
After further testing I have found that the reason I was receiving the Brutal Error, was because of my DigiDesign Core Audio Driver.
If I am using the MBox, and Digi Core Audio, (i.e Mbox I/O is active) Quicktime Pro will not record video/Audio.
If however I switch back to the Mac audio out (disconnect the MBox), Quicktime Pro works fine.
I havent had time to "fix" the problem in the Digi Core Audio, but this was the source of my Brutal Error Code.

First problem: You're fine. The hotter it gets, the more the fans spin up. The computer is designed so that at max load, at max fan speed, it won't overheat (unless it's obstructed by something, e.g. sitting on your bed swallowed by a comforter). It's not the best thing to keep it that toasty for days at a time, but a couple hours at a time shouldn't be a problem.
Second problem: If something in the trash won't delete, just use Secure Empty Trash and it should be fine. Since .torrent files are quite small, it should only take a couple seconds.

I had the same problem with Garageband a while ago...
Now its time again!
When i used Garageband, i downloaded cubase on my mac. And after that when i was tryed to open Garageband i got the message "Garageband did suddenly quit" (Translated from swedish).
And now i installed Ableton Live Trial version and i got the same message "Logic Pro 9 did suddenly quit!
PS: I have uninstalled the Ableton Live (I think... if i did it the right way)

My MacBook Pro will suddenly quit while I'm working on it and restarts itself.

I have a 2012 MacBook Pro running OSX 10.8.2 Mountain Lion with a 27-inch Apple Cinema Display connected to it that I use at work. I am an art director so I am constantly in Adobe Creative Suite 6. In the past month my MacBook Pro has suddenly quit on me while working and restarts itself TWICE. This time I was listening to a downloaded album on iTunes and the music started to skip right before the computer crashed and restarted itself. Has anyone ever experienced this before? It doesn't freeze up or anything like that, it will just unexpectedly go into Restart mode & the computer restarts. Everything is fine once it restarts but I am wondering if I should be concerned or if someone might know of a repair solution I could do on the computer. Should I run Disk Utilites to see if their is an issue? Would appreciate any comments and suggestions and feel free to ask may any question. THANKS!!

Photo Booth has stopped recording Videos all of a sudden??

Hi all,
on my iMac only 6 months old, all of a sudden after working fine Photo Booth today has decided to stop recording videos.
The app launches, green light comes on and the picture/video shows, i press record and it counts down but the counter doesnt move although the picture is still there.
Press stop and it loads a black screen and plonks it in the library thing at the bottom of the picture.. Very odd.
I have trashed the Preferences and this does nothing,
Have deleted the other videos so its not a space issue?
Wondering if anyone else has the same thing???

Quicktime pro recording video playback too fast

I'm using Quicktime Pro to make a video recording with audio using the "Best" settings in the preferences (i.e. h264 encoding). When playing these videos back, the audio sounds good, but the video framerate seems almost x2 the speed as it should be. Below is the output of ffmpeg on one such movie. The output points to the fact that there's a problem with framerates, but I'm not really sure how to interpret it towards getting a solution. Any ideas on how to fix this so that we get audio video sync'd up and at the right speed?

I think it has something to do with audio settings in your camera.
There's a menu where you can choose 12bits audio or 16bits audio.
Change the setting and try again.

Thanks for the advise Todd, my original footage was shot on AVCHD, which as you know is MTS codec, this was converted into MP4, and stored on a 1 TB hard drive, but it was connected to my Mac with a USB connection. The MP4 footage made FCP perform irratically, so I was advised to convert to Pro res NT, which i have done, FCP now runs perfectly, but now I don't use the hard drive. Could I use the hard drive, regardless of it not having a Firewire connection.
