QT Pro Sync Problem...

New Intel Mini dual-core, 1.66ghz, 1gig memory, latest everything updates. I'm capturing video via my DAC-100. When "recording" QT seems to work fine, but then usually by 10 minutes into a 30 min program, the video capture will "freeze" for a second or two (or 10, one time) and from then on the audio sync is out by that amount. Capturing video to iDVD seems to work just fine, making me think this isn't a DAC-100 problem, but a QT problem.
Any suggestions?

Well, my software is all up to date. And while I appreciate your suggestion about recording short sections and pasting them together, it's really not practical. Sometimes, the sync error happens in 5 or 6 minutes. Most of the reason I bought the dual-core Mini was exactly to archive and transfer video in QT (or H@^$) format. Like I said, imports to iMovie work fine. It's just the QT. Again, here's the symptom:
After reviewing 30 minute Video (Cable Hard disk recorder) transfer to QT via DAC-100, the audio and video start in sync. Then, at random intervals, the video freeze-frames for up to 9 seconds (but sometimes just for a few frames) letting the audio "slip" ahead by the same amount. Is there a QT "mode" where if it chokes on import, it just outputs the last good frame until it catches up?
Could this possibly be a DAC-100 problem that only manifests in QT but not in iMovie?

  • IPhone new MacBook Pro syncing problem

I asked this question in the iTunes section but got no response, so I thought I'd try here. Any suggestions?
I recently purchased a new MacBook Pro and finally got my itunes library transferred. I went to sync my iPhone, but it says that there are some songs that won't download because my computer wasn't authorized. So I did the authorization and it said it was already authorized. I finally noticed that the login email was an old, old email address. What do I do now? I didn't have this problem in my old MacBook Pro, and I don't have that old email's password. Any ideas?

    You're welcome.
You can change your account info including the email address per this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1918
But you must know the password for your iTunes account which can be different from the password used with the email account/address used as the user name for your iTunes account. You don't need to be using the email account/address to reset or change the password for your iTunes account to change other info, but you must know the answers to the security questions chosen when you first created your iTunes account with the chosen email address.
This is done with this link which you must do first. Just follow the prompts.

  • Audio sync problem: exporting from FCP to Pro tools or soundtrack pro

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Final Cut Pro sound export for mastering.....sync problem
    Hey,
I'm editing a 30 minute film and I have done most of the sound edit in FCP and Soundtrack pro and I want to now bring all the sound into pro tools to master the sound but every time i export sound into pro tools it seems to stretch by two or three seconds.
I have tried OMF, AIFF, XML, and Quicktime audio file sut to no avail!!!!
There are 50 tracks in the file so it is quiet large. It's not that there are handles of the file also as when I sync the file with the audio track with the video it syncs in one place but it is still out of sync in another.........It's as if the audio has been stretched!?!
If anyone has any advice it'd be much appreciated
    Keith

Try mixing down the audio first. Sequence/Render Only/Audio mixdown.
You could even try exporting the audio with the Export QT movie command using "current settings" and reimport that file, Add that mixed down file to a copy of the sequence. If it syncs in FCP I'd think it will sync on export too.

  • QuickTime Pro audio sync problems

Hi, when I edit my videos in QuickTime Pro, the more I cut sections out from a video, the more the audio is out of sync from the video as it progresses; so at the start it is fine and in sync, but at the end the video and audio is not in sync at all. The video is fine before I start editing with no sync problems, it's only when i cut parts out. How can I get around this problem?
    Thanks

ok, I output a lot of footage using quicktime conversion so I can edit in after effects or output for the web. I usually use the animation or h264 codec but the problem still persists regardless of which codec I use. < </div>
If the relationship between the tracks does not change over the length of the clip, that is, the audio doesn't drift more, your clip's tracks are actually in sync. One of the tracks, video or audio, has been set to start sooner or later than the other. I have no idea how that can happen, sorry, but I'm going to suggest the solution is going to be much less complicated than you might think: it's going to be a simple user error. We all have them.
It's a binary search, then, no way to shortcut it.
You try to find a good export and figure out what's different between a good one and a bad one.
Hope you get better advice on how to debug it.

  • Sync problems when sending to soundtrack pro

I am currently having a problem with a mono track audio/video clip sliding out of sync when I send it to soundtrack pro as referenced file only with 10 sec handles. When I send the entire clip the sync problem doesn't occur.
I have used soundtrack pro before and never encountered this problem.
    I'm on FCP 6.0.3.
    Thanks.

Turns out the audio needed to be linked to the .motn sequence.

  • 'Source play' and 'audio-video sync' problems with PE8 on fast WIN7 64 bit computer

I am transferring Hi8 videos, about 2 hours long, to my WIN7 64 bit computer with PE8.  [Dell Mobile Precision M4400 Computer Workstation (Intel Core 2 Duo T9900 500GB/4GB); NVIDIA Quadro FX 770M, 512MB] I seem to have several problems:
First, after importing the file (.avi), I get a message about ‘dropped frames.’
Secondly, when I try to play the video in the source monitor, the audio plays but the video doesn’t; it only shows the first frame [this is after waiting until the video is ?recognized? ]   I can use the shift-arrow key and see that the video is there.
Thirdly, I can play the .avi file in other players, e.g., avidemux or PE pro CS5 on another computer.  There, I see that the audio and video are not in sync; the audio can be up to 300 ms ahead of the video (as determined using avidemux).
    Questions:
    1.  Why doesn’t the source monitor play the video? Is this a problem with PE8 (latest update as of 3 March 2011) on aWIN7 64 bit computer (intel duo core. 3 GHz).
    2. Is the audio-video sync problem the result of the ‘dropped frames?’ How can PE8 correct this? Avoid this? Or, is it coincidence?

"I think you're telling me you're using a backwards compatible Digital8  camcorder to capture your video as DV-AVIs. Is that right?" YES
"Are you using  Premiere Elements to do this capturing?" YES, AS ABOVE PE8
"Go to the File menu and select Properties. It should show a standard DV codec being used for your video and audio."
WMP v12 is dumb. Under properties, media, it says 'video.'  However, avidemux gave me the information state above: video -- Codec 4CC: dvsd, frame rate: 29.971 fps; audio -- codec: PCM, channels: Stereo, frequency: 48 kHz.
    So, back to the Questions:

  • ICal Print List Hang / Font Issue / Sync Problems...

Okay, here's a couple issues all wrapped up into one thread/post - reason is cause I suspect they may all be tied together somehow, but am not sure.
    Sync Problems...
Regarding the Syncing problems, you can find an ongoing thread about @ http://forums.markspace.com/viewtopic.php?t=1632
In short, some of us are having issues with events syncing to our Palm to the wrong timezone, causing them to be an hour off (usually within the new & old DST date change). Yes, all the usual fixes have been tried - pls read the thread noting "adairnet" and ymatto" postings.
Also, in addition to this time issue, I have iCal events that I've deleted in iCal still show up on the Palm after one-way syncing!
    Print List Hang...
Every week I print a "list" of events from a certain calendar. The past couple weeks I noticed some lines in the notes field printing on top of each other. Twas odd indeed, but I hadn't had the time to look into the reason. Then this week I was going thru my usual printing proceedure and now iCal locks up, hangs up, crashes, forcing me to force-quit the program. It's usually after I extend the dates beyond 2 or 3 days, but I've not been able to find a consistency. I've redone events thinking they were corrupt with no success.
    Font Problems...
After the Print List issue above, I opened my Console program to see if it was reporting anything. At first it indicated that it could not find Helvetica Neue and would substitute it for Helvetica. This put me in touch with some font corruption - so I got rid of those bad fonts and activated Helvetica Neue which got rid of that message. But made me wonder if there are more font problems causing the print hanging & syncing problems. I have FontAgent Pro and do have some font issues that I'm trying to work out.
But the Console is displaying another string of messages every time the Print List proceedure hangs up which I cannot figure out...

So, all of this is causing me to wonder if the iCal or SyncServices database is corrupt. Is there a way to dig into the iCal db and check for corruption &/or fix it?
Or does anybody have any further suggestions on any of these issues?
    thanx.jason.

    RedKamel,
The SyncServices folder should be avoided like "a swarm of bees". This article discusses some of the issues that can arise when the SyncServices folder is deleted or modified:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301920
Data loss and Data corruption can result from deleting or modifying the SyncServices folder, and that data loss or corruption can be propogated to devices, .Mac, and other applications that sync with SyncServices.
If you have isolated an issue with the other steps in your post, I would recomend speaking with AppleCare before removing that folder.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Sky Drive Pro sync stopped due to spurious File in use error

I am having a lot of difficulty getting Sky Drive Pro to sync files from my work desktop to my work laptop.
When I boot up my laptop, a bubble appears in the bottom left with the headline "File in use". Then the text "We can't sync while <very very long path to file, truncated> is open. Please close it so sync can continue.
The actual filename in question is called "System.Data.SqlXml.2.0.0.0.Nullness.Generated.xml"
I have deleted that file from my desktop. That file does not exist on my laptop. When I boot up my laptop, I am not connected to the internet / LAN, so it must be getting this filename from some type of internal Sky Drive Pro cache on the laptop rather than
    the cloud.
    Other information worthy of note:
    * Sky Drive Pro says it is syncing files according to the icon on the bottom right of the screen - it is animated, and has a little text when you hover over it "SkyDrive Pro - Syncing files, 3,717 remaining" In actual fact it is not doing anything,
    it always says 3,717 files.
    * From the SkyDrive right click menu from Windows Explorer, the View Sync Problems is greyed out - apparently it doesn't believe that there is any problem. I only see the file in use error when first booting the laptop. I'm not aware of any other way of
being able to see the problem.
    * Using Windows Update, I applied one or more patches for SkyDrive Pro on my laptop and desktop. I did this after receiving the error. Windows Update does not report that there are any further patches to download.
    * On my desktop, I deleted or renamed any file that the Sync client complained about. It is currently not complaining about any files (desktop).

I am having this very same problem, too (classic 160G). Even tried doing clean install of Tiger, then running all updates...sort of starting over, if you will. Didn't work. Took it to the Genius Bar twice, and they had no problems on their MacBook. The second time, they let me exchange it for another, since I was (wrongly) convinced that I had a lemon. Has anyone found/heard of a solution? I'm hoping for an iTunes (7.4.3?) update to fix this probelm v soon...

  • Sync problems with my iphone

Can anyone offer suggestions for trobleshooting sync problems with my iphone. Recently I have connected my iphone and my ipod to my computer while having itunes open and I do not see my devices in itunes. I have powered off the iphone and powered back on and I have the most recent version of itunes on my computer. I have also tried multiple USB ports and multiple cords on my computer. When I go to file in itunes, Sync is not an option (greyed out). Any suggestions?

Had the same issue last year on XP Pro.
    1) Start->All Programs->Apple Software Update Run this and make sure your up to date on iTunes.
    2) Unplug both devices.
    3) Restart the computer (I know your tired of being told this-it's a windows thing and sometimes it's a PO'd IT person thing either way do it).
    4) After restart open iTunes.
    5) wait a tad for iTunes to open all the way up, navigate through your music to make sure. Then connect the iPhone. Watch your clock area and you should see two pop-ups. One says Found new device, second says iPhone.
Last, if it doesn't appear it's because windows photo capture is trying to connect to the iPhone. Minimize iTunes and you'll probably have a pop up sitting there. THIS WINDOW will not show up in the task bar.

  • Sync problems with EPSON beamer

I have problems to connect my new EPSON Beamer (EMP-TW700, HD-ready) via HDMI cable to the Apple TV (160GB). There seems to be a sync problem.
The beamer works fine with my MacBook Pro via DVI-Port.
    What to do ?

What exactly do you mean by sync problem.
Do you mean syncing content or that the picture rolls or is too large/small or is the wrong colour.

  • Sync Problem with Blu Ray

I have a sync problem when using Premiere Pro CS5 to burn Blu Ray DVDs and wondered if anyone has had similar problems and has found a simple solution.
Equipment:  Panasonic HMC-150 (AVCHD), shot at 59.94 fps, 720.  MacPro with operating system up to date, quad core, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro 4000. PP CS5 also has all current updates downloaded.
When the AVCHD files are imported, they tend to be out of sync by 8 to 22 frames.  I manually resync and edit.  Then burn a Blu Ray DVD using Encore and end up out of sync again.  I must be doing something wrong but can't figure it out.  At this point, the only solution I can think of is to try to figure out how far out of sync I am once the DVD is burned and offset the audio that amount before transcoding.
Has anyone encountered this problem before?  Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

I have done some more tests and have determined that the problem only exists with Blu-ray.  When I burn a non blu-ray dvd, video and audio remain in sync. I attempted to export to Final Cut Pro 7 using the export xml feature, but it doesn't work.  I brought the original footage into FCP and burned a portion of it to blu-ray using the Share feature and there was no sync problem.  So I guess my only alternative at this point is to re-edit the entire video in FCP.
In Premiere Pro I've checked to make sure that both the camera and the intake were set for no drop frame and they were.  I've tried double checking the audio sync using the audio line out from the Mac rather than the firewire out to the Mackie Mixer, just in case there was a latency problem, which didn't seem logical and there wasn't any difference.  It can't be a problem with the blu-ray burner since it works in FCP7.  I'm running out of ideas of things I can tweak in Premiere, other than guessing just how far out of sync the program pushes the audio and then unlinking audio and pushing it the same number of frames the other direction before burning the blu-ray, but that will be hit and miss and it will start getting expensive throwing away blu-ray disks.
Any other ideas would be appreciated.  Thanks.  Jon

  • H.264 blu-ray 720P60 sync problem

I'm not able to maintain sync between sound and video when encoding 720P59.94 sequences (avi or mov) to 720P 59.94 h.264 Blu-ray (standard PrPro export settings). The sync is lost gradually, and at the end of a 42 minute clip, is off by more than a second. In trying to chase this down, I noticed that the exported elementary video file is longer than the source sequence by about 1 frame per minute. The elementary sound file (Dolby or PCM) appears to be the same length as the source sequence.
Although I first noticed this in Encore (Blu-ray project),  an import of the "encode" files back into Premiere Pro confirmed the situation.
I checked very carefully to ensure that my sequence settings and export settings are consistant - 1280x720 P 59.94.
I don't see this sync problem with the non-blu-ray h.264 (multiplexed) encode, and I don't see this problem with the mpeg2 blu-ray encoder.
I'm interested to know if this issue is unique to my setup, and if not, if there's a fix or workaround.
I'm running the latest versions of software -
    Adobe CS 6.03 (monthly account)
Kona LHi 10.3.2 (up to date)
    win 7, i7, 16G ram
    Thanks...Ben

    Jim,
I found that, of the sequences I've been working with, those that were created by dragging the footage onto the "new" icon were NDF. Sequences that I initiated from scratch are DF. But even after exporting to h.264 from a "DF" sequence, when re-imported and dropped on the "new" icon, a NDF sequence was created.
So...I established a new DF AVI sequence, and copied the source footage into it. This gave me a 720P59.94 DF cineform avi sequence, which doesn't seem any different than the NDF predecessor. Audio and video are in sync from beginning to end - 42 minutes duration.
I did a fresh export from this sequence to the adobe h.264 blu-ray preset (720P59.94, dolby, high, 4.1).
I then re-imported the resulting m4v, and dragged it onto an unused track in the source sequence. As expected, It extended beyond the source by 78 frames (in 42 minutes), and had the gradual drift out of sync.
I applied the 50 % crop, and looked for the first sign of change between the two tracks. I noted that at 00;01;01;42, the h.264  "encode" track seem to take one step backward, resulting in a 2 frame difference for a while. I tried to find the next exact place where a change occur, but found it impossible to do so.
Since this seems kind of weird, it would be helpful to know if anyone else has been successful in exporting a 720P59.94 sequence to h.264 blu-ray, without gradual loss of sync. The duration would need to be long enough for the sync loss to be obvious - 15 minutes or so?

  • Mov to avi program, sound video import sync problem CS4, creating wide screen

I am using Premiere Pro CS4. I have edited for years on and off, most often I am on set. I just need to set this up right to work.
I have mov footage, and used Pazera to convert it to avi. It does not look right. Here are my convert questions.
    1. is Pazera an ok convert program, or do you have another free, non watermark, high quality program you recommend..?
    2. What is the best convert video and audio to use. Right now I have it as auto and it was awful.
    3. As well I want to use a 1 to 1 ratio or lose the least info, yet it does not seem too have it. It does have, "copy original video stream" is that 1:1...? otherwise it has xvid, divx, mpeg4, wmv...
    4. what is best to put for resolution, it has HD1080, HD720 HD489, and a bunch of others
    1. When I did make a test avi and imported it into Premiere Pro, it does not play properly. The audio runs in realtime and the video skips forward out of sync by about 10x faster. Yet when I play the file in media player, it plays normal. Is this a setting within Premiere Pro, a problem with importing, or the original footage..?
    1. As well, I have some footage with a frigin time code burn window at the bottom, and may want to grab some footage. Is there a way to wide screen the image and cut out the bottom time code, if yes, let me know step by step...

  • Audio sync problem downloading VHS-C

I've downloaded a straight VHS tape (with no audio sync problems) into final cut pro once I had changed the Camera setting to 32Khz and the capture and sequeence presets to 32khz as well (it was all aout of sync when the settings were 48Khz).
The problem now, which is driving me MAD, is I have 13 hours of VHS-C tapes, which I have put into a VHS cassette converter to download and the audio is out of sync. The capture presets are the same as above (i.e. 32KHZ) . Why is this? I downloaded them initially at 48Khz (settings on the camera 48Khz and FCP at 48Khz in capture and sequence settings), but this was also out of sync.
Why is it different from one VHS tape to a VHS-C tape?
I hope there is a God out there that can help with this one?
    Thanks!

    Eagleray:
    I capture through a ADVC-100.
I use to find the same problem playing VHS tapes with a standard VHS player from time to time and never solved it. The out of sync audio appears when capturing some specific tapes from specific sources:
    - All my home tapes recorded in my old VHS recorder shows a audio problem; not specifically out of sync, but some audio "cracks" from time to time, like an electronic noise. No way to find a capture setings that works.
    - Some customers VHS tapes that showed the out of sync (no noises) and again, no combination of digitalizer settings made it works. Had to resync the audio editing and stretching in an external audio editor or cutting shorts parts and syncing them with video. The our of sync appears in small captured portions, like 10 min or so.
    - Never found a sync or audio problem capturing from VHC-C (the small VHS tapes) playing them with the tape adapter in the player.
I google long hours about this problems and all that I learned is that some old VHS recorders had not a "synchro" signal in the tape.
As I told you, I don't use any pro VHS deck, just my consumer "state of the art" VHS home recorder.
I hope there is a God out there that can help with this one?
