QT Reference is not too different from QT

I just exported a QT Reference movie of my timeline (4 minutes long).
And I noticed that it was 408 MB in size. It seemed to take a while to encode, too - like 3-4 minutes.
When I exported a normal QT movie (by checking 'Make Movie Self-Contained' box), it took exactly the same amount of time to encode - and the size was 846 MB.
So my QTR is just about 50% the size of my QT.
So I was just wondering, is this right? I'm sure in the past QTR's were way smaller than full QTs, and encoded way quicker!
My OS is 10.4.9 and FCP 5.1.4 on Dual G5.
(P.S. Tried it again after trashing prefs and repairing permissions. Same result.)

No the sequence is rendered!
Help!! I just made another 4 minute sequence in the SAME project. Exported that as a QT reference
- and that took TEN SECONDS to encode and is 43 MB in size!!
Whats wrong with my other sequence?

I have worked on Windows based Oracle database. Now, I have to work on Oracle which is Sun OS based. I have never worked on either of Sun OS, Linux or Unix.
I am confused whether Sun OS is same Unix or Linux? Whet should I learn?

so if you are to work with Oracle on Sun OS (Solaris) why not trying out at home ?
You can go with Linux first and after you became a real Unix freak and want to try a VERY userfriendly Unix, you may try Solaris10 on your box. It is Open Source like Linux and can be downloaded free at sun.com (the stable release used for production systems). The newest Oracle releases and patchsets are available for it (32 and 64 bit). It offers some new concepts and (what I like most) is a system usable for home apps up to really big and mission critical applications (you can use it in production systems with 100 or more CPUs).
I am using it even as my desktop system in my office since 2 years.
I got nerved by those Linux-Distributions always doing something in a different way in each new release. But sure, the driver support for some taiwanese hardware there is still better than with Solaris.
Solaris is IMHO not too different anymore in terms of user friendlyness (Gnome is just called Java Desktop System, KDE is also available) and there is a real professional open source community behind it at opensolaris.org. Due to it's kernel qualities there are discussions about releasing Solaris under GPL and creating the GNU operating system from it.

Let's start with iTunes.
Have you updated iTunes to 11.1.5, because the previous version did appear to have an issue about seeing iPods?
With iTunes 11.1.5 installed, look in Edit/Preferences/Devices, (or use the ALT key, followed by the E key and then the F key) and make sure that the box named Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically does not have a tick in the box.
Once you have doen those two things, check to see if the iPod is seen by iTunes.

Really?
OS stands for Operating System. (In computer speak, IO means Input/Output.)
iOS originally stood for iPhone Operating System, but it now refers to the iPod Touch and iPhone. The iPod Classic, which you have listed in your profile as your iPod, does not use iOS.
I assume that you have been listening to the Podcast in your iTunes on the computer as you cannot transfer it to your iPod. It's what I'd do.

Reference to control different from reference panel- controls[]

Hi, I get references to all my objects on front panel from the properties panle->controls[]. In my program I use an Event case and the reference to the contol passed from the Event Case is different fom the reference obtained by panel->controls[]. I need this to be the same since I want to use this reference to search for match in ref array from panel->controls[] get the array index of thet control

Do you have tabs\arrays\clusters?
The references from controls in those (and possibly other structures) are not returned when you use the Controls[] property.
You have to go over all the references and if any of them is one of these structures you need to cast it to its specific class and extract its Controls[] property to get to the controls in it. This needs to be done recursively until there are no more structures.
I seem to remember seeing a VI somewhere that did this (maybe OpenG?), but I can't seem to find it. Maybe someone else knows.

I installed new windows 8, ever since then all of my I-pods, which I have 5 different ones from various years are stating "attempting to copy to the disk, then name of the I-pod failed. The disk could not be read from or written to".

Backed up using i-cloud now can not restore because security questions are different from apple account?

i just purchased a new i-touch for my son becasue he smashed th old one. I purchased it at the apple store and the tech told me to back info up utilizing i-cloud. I did that inside the store. I am trying to set the i-touch up using the i-cloud backup but when i get to the security question part, the questions are different from my apple account. I then get an error message saying server error. I called apple and they did not seem to be much help.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Contact Apple through iTunes Store Support, and explain that you have forgotten your 3 security questions, that you can reset your password, but doing so doesn't reset your security questions.
Explain that after resetting your password, you are still asked for the answers you have forgotten, before you can gain access to My Apple ID > Manage your account > Password & security, which is where you need to be to change your answers.
Remember, support will receive hundreds, if not thousands of requests per day, some from people trying it on, others with little explanation and others that are written extremely poorly. Take the time to explain your situation properly, be precise and concise, brief but comprehensive.

(1) You say you did the symbolic link. I will assume this is set correctly; it's very important that it is.
(2) I don't know what you mean by "Been feeding the [email protected] for several weeks now, 700 emails each day at least." After the initial training period, SpamAssassin doesn't learn from mail it has already processed correctly. At this point, you only need to teach SpamAssassin when it is wrong. [email protected] should only be getting spam that is being passed as clean. Likewise, [email protected] should only be getting legitimate mail that is being flagged as junk. You are redirecting mail to both [email protected] and [email protected] ... right? SpamAssassin needs both.
(3) Next, as I said before, you need to implement those "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server." Once you have that done and issue "postfix reload" you can look at your SMTP log in Server Admin and watch as Postfix blocks one piece of junk mail after another. It's kind of cool.
(4) Add some SARE rules:

There are other things you can do, and you'll find differing opinions about such things. In general, I think implementing the "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server" and adding the SARE rules will help a lot. Good luck!

Other than a couple of minor adjustments, such as the one that Diavonex suggested above, there is nothing that a user can do in settings to adjust color. There is no way to calibrate the color like you can do with a computer monitor.

From knowledge Art to email error Reference Link not created

Just upgraded to Solman 7.1 SP10
When I have created a knowledge article I use "MORE - > Create follow up", select email to send the knowledge article to a user, then I get this message : "Reference Link not created as this Object Reference is not customized"
if I use and incident and I use "Create follow up", select email, I do not get this message and you can see a reference document is pulling through
What customising need to be done to get rid of the message "Reference Link not created as this Object Reference is not customized"
Any help will be appreciated

customized" is an information message. This is normal
since the reference field in activities will only contain crm
documents as objects references.

APPLE Id differs from mac to iphone ... i did not do this.

I have been reading about the issues folks have with apple id. i cannot download from the app store because since last visit to GENIUS bar my iphone apple id differs from my mac, iCloud etc. The app store wont recognize my id password. i am frustrated and cant change the iphone id. how can i get iphone apple id same as mac like it was for years before my last visit to genius bar? it wont take my password -- because it isnt the correct id.

I tunes: when trying to burn a playlist I keep getting the message: the attempt to burn a disc failed. The disc could not be read from or written to. I am using version 12

I tunes: I am using version 12 of I tunes. Ever since downloading it I get the message when trying to burn a playlist it says, The attempt to burn a disc failed. The disc could not be read from or written to.
I uninstalled V-12 and then reinstalled it. This enabled me to burn a disc again but after a couple of tries I received the same error message again. Has Apple put out a fix to this problem that anyone is aware of?

I would also try burning a music CD and a data disc from a different application in the Windows OS and trying a different brand CD just to confirm the issue is not with the optical drive.
