QT self-capture plugin?

I've got a :30 QT with a corrupt audio track that plays back fine, but cannot be exported.
As it stands, I'm just going to have to lay it off to tape and recapture it.
Got me thinking, though. Is there a plugin that would allow Quicktime to capture itself while playing back in real time?
Or a 3rd party app?

It's screen capturing software that will capture video, audio, stills, basically anything on your screen. You can then export your capture out to all different kinds of formats. Pretty slick but cost money to buy it.

As per my understanding of EM, everything is based on TargetGUID, which is a combination of target-name and target-type. Based on this, you may like to give a different target-name and give it a try. (I believe, the reason things work fine is also as explained above. With a different target-type name, the TargetGUID is changed and hence, the behaviour)
However, both the approaches (a new target-name and/or new target-type name) are not ideal in nature. Check the AVAILABILITY & ALERT tables (don't remember the exact table name(s), though). One of these table holds the status value for targets (and the value is a number - a while back I had investigated on this but am not having the info handy) and the information on alert generated.
You may also like to clear agent STATEs. Agent maintains state of each metric (& target). Try following:
1. Stop EM Agent (this is not necessary though)
2. Execute "emctl clearstate agent" on agent system.
3. Delete all files under emd/state, emd/recv and emd/upload
4. Restart the agent (if step 1 was executed)
5. Check the behaviour of the target status now on target home page

Paper Capture Plugin

I'm trying to download the Paper Capture Plug-in so I can create a word searchable document. When I download it says it can't file Acorbat 5.0. I have version 9. Is there an updated version of Paper Capture I can use?

Image Capture from iPhone to OS X and File Permissions

Hello. I'm running Lion 10.7.3 and have an iPhone 4S and iPad 2. When I use the Image Capture app to transfer pictures and videos from my devices to OS X it works great with the exception of one problem. Every file that it copies over ends up with permissions of:
(Me): Read & Write
everyone: No Access
This is problematic because when my wife is logged into her profile or anyone else tries to view these files via shared folders, they can't see them. I'm putting them into a folder I created on "Macintosh HD". The folder that they are in has permission of:
(Me): Read & Write
wheel: Read only
everyone: Read only
Each time I import I suppose I could drop into Terminal and run a command to fix the issues but there must be a better way.
Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Got a solution using Automator.
Create a workflow like:
This is an Image Capture Plugin. When you open Automator select Image Capture as the type of workflow and select these two actions.
Copy Finder Items will take the image from Image Capture and copy to your disk. Select the folder you want the image to go to in the To: pulldown. You should select the /Users/Shared folder and any subfolder you wish. I made a folder named Images.
In the second action make sure Pass Input: is set to as arguments and then add the chmod 644
Then exit Automator giving the workflow a name. In Image Capture you should see the workflow you just created
in the Import To: pulldown. Select it. Now when you import the fiels wil be copied to the folder you specified and the permissions will be set to 644 rw for you r for everyone else.

Help Please...Damaged 3D plugin on Acrobat 9 Pro Extended - Guidance to Re-install

I have been getting Warning messages indicating that "part of the 3D Capture plugin is damaged" over the past week and finally tried to follow Adobe's advice online in modifying the Registry (under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Wow6432) and made sure my security app "trusts" acapture32.dll, then attempted to repair Acrobat twice -- with no luck...in fact things seem even worse now. But when I tried to contact Adobe support for some guidance, all they could "help" me with was recommending I upgrade to 11, because 9 is no longer supported. I don't need 11...9 has served my needs perfectly until corruption.
Tonight I visited Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended's download page, and tried to download the "Version 3D Update 200810" .msi file but when I try to run it, I get a screen that says: "No qualifying products found to apply this update" which suggests to me it now can't even SEE my app.
Adobe support would not even answer one simple question I had...perhaps someone here can help me.
I've seen many questions on the forums related to deactivating on an old system and properly installing and activating the software onto a new computer, but nowhere is there clear guidance on how to uninstall a program that has become corrupted...and reinstall it back onto the SAME computer.
My question is:
I know de-activation is critical, but I need to know which of the two choices I should be making before uninstalling then reinstalling:
1. Should I choose to "Deactivate & Suspend"...(which supposedly retains my registration information) but if I UNINSTALL the software then REINSTALL it and try to re-activate it, won't I have lost my "registration" information anyway when uninstalling the app from my system before reinstalling it?
-OR-
2. Should I select instead to "Deactivate Permanently", then UNINSTALL the app, then REINSTALL it -- and will I be able to go through the registration process anew for a product that Adobe says it no longer supports...AND activate it?
Also what seems to be strange, my 9 Pro Extended indicates I am running version 9.5.5, but on Adobe's download page for Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, I only see updates through version 9.4.5. I've been set to automatically receive Acrobat 9 updates as they are released, so the only place I could have gotten a 9.5.5 update was through Adobe.
Please help me...Adobe has so many hoops to jump through that there is too much room for screwing up. So I'm asking for help BEFORE I do...

Bet you thought all was well. I was without my system for a few days but finally had a chance to uninstall...and reinstall full app and all updates through 9.5.5.
Problem is...the same problem. Issues related to 3D Capture with notifications. The result ends up being a .pdf that either includes hieroglyphics in various parts of the document...or Acrobat freezing altogether forcing me to either attempt to do a hard close on the program (if it lets me)...or hard reboot of my system. This happens when trying to .pdf web pages or html .pdf docs...not on Word docs, Excel docs or .jpgs -- things like that.
Here's the content of one of the log files generated:

I've also been getting a plugin-container.exe error message via Windows but don't know if it is related in any way to the 3D Capture issue.
(I do run Mozilla Firefox v-31.0)
I also never de-activated (was not allowed to complete the request) before uninstalling AND never was asked to re-activate after re-installing. So I don't know if that's good news or not. If I ever want to de-activate on this computer and install/activate onto a new system or HD I'll likely be out of luck on that.
Other weird stuff upon re-install. Checked my HD used space BEFORE uninstalling, AFTER uninstalling, and AFTER re-installing application and all updates for 9 Pro Extended. Results as follows:
BEFORE UNINSTALL:
Used: 112 GB
Free: 31.9 GB
AFTER UNINSTALL:
Used: 110 GB
Free: 36.2 GB
AFTER RE-INSTALL AND ALL UPDATES INSTALLED:   (I would have expected these figures to be pretty much the same as BEFORE UNINSTALL)
Used: 124 GB
Free: 19.3 GB
And program space under Add/Remove only indicates 1,959 MB -- it was at around 2,300+ MB BEFORE UNINSTALL...
So something really strange is going on!
Is there a way to override or disable 3D Capture?
Other things I'm picking up on. I had Acrobat Reader on my system before as well as CS2...and originally was using Adobe Acrobat Elements but (except for CS2) had uninstalled those quite some time ago, however...in my Docs & Settings.../JLD/ApplicationData/Adobe/Acrobat folder I'm finding the following folders (and all are populated):
6.0
9.0
10.0
11.0
Distiller 6
Distiller 9
Preflight Acrobat 9
Only version of Acrobat showing in "Add/Remove Programs" is 9   (BTW...is Acrobat 6.0/Distiller 6.0 needed for CS2? - but they're not showing up in Add/Remove.)
In my Program Files, along with CS2 content is:
Acrobat 6.0 (but the Resource folder within only contains a font)
Acrobat 9.0
So I'm trying to think of anything else that may signal what my conflict or problem is being caused by...don't know if any .dll is corrupted, but on a new install I would think those things should now be a non-issue.
Any ideas (aside from simply turning 3D Capture error notifications off) on how to disengage 3D Capture altogether so there's nothing to set off an error and lock-up because of it? I can limp through getting hieroglyphics but can't stand getting locked up for attempting to create a .pdf.
Or a setting in the Registry that I need to contemplate? I hate touching anything in there...but if it's simply a setting, I can back-up it up, make a change and restore if needed.

Do not understand why 'paper capture' yields no results in the local or online help for Acrobat 6 professional. Never used it and would like to find documentation on its use.

Try OCR. They changed the name. Furthermore, they keep moving the selections around. For instance, Reduce File Size is no longer under the File menu (it was introduced with AA6), but has moved on with AA8 and 9 to other menus. I suspect you will be able to find OCR under a slightly different menu in Pro. It works the same way as the old Paper Capture plugin did. Be sure you tell it what kind of conversion you want and that the resolution is between 200 and 600 dpi as I recall. Colors can sometimes be an issue I think. It is also common for folks to do the OCR as part of a scan with the newer Acrobats.

HP C3180 supported by Image Capture?

I have a HP C3180 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier. I can scan with the HP software but it is quite dreadful and I'm looking for a solution that does not involve installing lots of photo editing or card making programs that I never use.
Image Capture does not seem to recognize this scanner. Does anyone know if there is an "Image Capture plugin" that I could grab somewhere? I am also curious as to whether Image Capture offers more scanning features than the (poorly designed) HP Scan Pro.
Finally, is there a list of scanners supported by Image Capture?
I'm running Leopard 10.5.8.

No, there is no such plug-in. The HP scanner driver is installed as part of your HP software that came with the printer. If that software is not compatible with Leopard then you will need to visit the HP site and download a Leopard compatible driver.
Image Capture should work with an HP TWAIN driver if one is available for your model. You can also contact HP support for assistance.

Paper capture no asian support

"The 3d capture plug-in has been damaged..."

This error appears after install on a ThinkPad T61p. Two similar ThinkPads in fact. Not on a desktop though. All running Win XP Pro with the same software. It has to be something peculiar to the ThinkPads, maybe the nvidia 570m graphics, driver, something. I've seen where other had this error but never saw a solution to it.
I know you can still convert files even though the capture doesn't work. But the capture is nice when you want to get the colors and textures captured. It doesn't do that with conversions, unless there's a way I don't know about. Is there?
Reinstalling after removal makes no difference. Installing with every service and extra thing disabled in msconfig, made no difference. The 3d capture plugin folder had the same size and files as a working installation.

I'm having the same problem with SolidWorks 2008. I have the latest version of Acrobat 3D and it works fine with SolidWorks 2006 files. When I try the Print Screen method mentioned above, the only model I see in Acrobat 3D is the red, green, and blue axis that is in the bottom left hand screen of SolidWorks. So this method did not work for me.
However, I have found a workaround for this whole problem. In SolidWorks, save the file as a ProE Part (*.prt) or any other format supported by Acorbat 3D (SolidWorks has many options). Then drag and drop this file into Acrobat 3D. It converts the file with no problems. Let me know if this works for anyone.

[SOLVED] (ish) Trine 2 not working, ksmserver issue ?

I have Trine 2 that I got from the Humble Indie Bundle 9, I failed at "installing" it manually, because of some selinux nonsense, so I used the aur package "trine2-hib" to help me install it.
It was working perfectly, until after some updates it didn't work anymore.
This all started together with the problems caused by the latest update of kde stuff and qt4 not being updated, that solved, I though this would've been solved too, well, not really.
Whenever I run Trine 2 from a .desktop launcher, it kills my kde session and shows me this: "Could not start ksmserver. Check your installation " and only an option to logout.

I don't think that any of that alsa nonsense has anything to do with this.
I'm putting this on Multimedia as this is actually a problem with a game, however I don't think the game itself is what's causing the problems.
Any ideas ?

Answering to your points;
1; No it doesn't happen, if I run it like that it only closes after the loading screen, but it doesn't crash kde.
2: If I run it on windowed mode it works just fine.
3: I'm using the catalyst proprietary drivers, most other things I've tried work fine, far better than using the opensource drivers, that's why I'm using the proprietary ones. i've only had problems with some windows applications on wine that could be related to the drivers.
4: I don't really know what could be considered of interest, but this looks like it's related:

I'm hoping somebody can tell me what's going wrong with my new install. Here are the details:
Win7 pro
i7 950
Quadro 4000 (with massive cooling blowing on the thing)
mxo2 mini max (because I'm slightly cheap, and yes, I feel a little like a hack plugging RCA cables rather than XLR for audio)
24g ram
Gtech 4tb graid
2 internal SATA drives (one boot, the other for utilities like tone, graphics I use often, etc.)
Software:
PremPro (AE, AME, etc) 5.51 (haven't updated to 5.52 - problem here?)
Squeeze 7
Trapcode plugins
Drivers:
NVidia: 276.14 (this is the Adobe approved one, at least so the download site said)
Matrox: mtxutils_551
So here are the issues:
--> Code 7 errors while editing a long program ("Open GL does not meet min specs for application"). Before this happens, generally premiere will become unresponsive, program screens will go black and then boom. On this program, I can get about 6 edits in before it blows.
--> Cannot export long program (2+ hours). (Matrox 1080i sequence - footage all P2 DVCPRO HD) Crashes after transcoding approximately 15-20 minutes of program. Exporting to Graid where project and footage is stored (is this an issue?) Premiere crashes and computer restarts. Tried many different export settings, from "match sequence settings" to Premiere's mpeg2 setting, to the Sorrensen and the Matrox ones.
(Adobe Tech support and a very nice guy named Vinay helped me with a small workaround which involved opening up a hidden admin login, and disabling some Microsoft services and exporting to my spare internal drive)
--> Also tried importing sequence directly into Encore and AME then transcoding through those. No luck there.
--> Premiere Pro on closing gives error message "Premiere Pro has stopped working; appcrash exception code 00005. Also, this is occasionally followed by a Visual C++ runtime error
--> Capture plugins from Matrox are unavailable. No Matrox capture settings are available.
--> No WYSUWYG control panel for MX02 (I know this is an Adobe site, but figured someone might have some insight maybe)
So there's the beginning. There are more, but these are the biggies at this point.

Thanks Jim. Yeah, that was my suspicion as well. Right out of the box their damm plug-ins didn't install correctly, and it takes roughly a week to get familiar with all the "known issues" - a phrase that irritates me to no end - (if there are known issues - FIX EM before you sell me your s*%t! Can you imagine delivering a project to a client with a 14 page list of "known issues"?!?!? Seriously!)
There was a point where I really loved my Matrox products back in the old Digisuite days. But there was this point where their world class tech support policies changed, and frankly it seems that was the point where the whole company became hack. I was pretty skeptical about buying the mxo2 in the first place because of this, allowed myself to be "sold" because I needed to get back to work quickly, put the problem out of my mind and get back to work...and now I'm dealing with this.
Thanks for the link. I think you're right, it would be nice if Adobe would address monitoring through a gpu. But I'm guessing that won't be until CS6.5, by which point we'll all have to paying Adobe a monthly subscription vig to use their products. This crap irritates me to no end. I would love to see a reasonably priced and robust editing system that works like a hammer. I'm a busy 2 man shop - I gotta pound my video nails quickly and get on to the next house.
Assuming I get rid of matrox...what's the best current solution for monitoring? Doesn't sound like Aja or Blackmagic have any better solutions.

How do I create a PDF from a website with a paywall?

I'm trying to use the "Create a PDF from the web" function in Adobe Acrobat Pro to create PDFs from a news website that I subscribe to, but whenever I use the tool, it gives me a version that truncates the articles I need — or how the version looks to non-subscribers. Can anyone help me with this? I desperately need a workaround.

In the past, specifying the username and password in the URL in the standard format (http://username:[email protected]@www.example.com) did not work when using the Web Capture plugin in Acrobat. Maybe it changed, but I doubt it...

Hp Scanning

I have a new HP Photosmart Plus B210 and am trying to scan multiple documents into one .jpeg or .pdf fine. So far I have not been able to figure this out; each doc comes out as a separate file. If that is the case I want to combine my pdf files after scanning. "Help" says that I can copy by dragging. This is still 2 documents and I cannot save it in this form. There must be a way to take 2 pdf files and combine into one. I'm getting ready to scan a 20 page doc and do not want 20 pdf's.

I have an Image Capture solution for combining multiple successive scans of whole pages (but not several separate items that are on a single page) into one PDF. It is very easy to work with once it's set up, and you won't have to manually drag files in Preview to join them together, but brace yourself...it is something of a pain to initially set up. Once it is set up, though, all you'll have to do is scan page one, make one pull-down menu change in Image Capture, then scan all remaining pages. The trick: create an Image Capture workflow in Automator. The recipe follows...
(Initial prep, steps 1-7)
1. First create a "Scanned documents" subfolder of your "Documents" folder at: ~/Documents/Scanned documents. All Image Capture documents will be scanned to this folder, based on Image capture settings in step 6(d) below.
2. [Optional] Drag the newly-created "Scanned documents" folder to the sidebar of a Finder window for ease of subsequent access.
3. Open the Image Capture app and turn on your connected scanner.
4. If there is a "Show Details" button and no settings pane to the right of the Image Capture window, click the "Show Details" button to reveal the settings pane.
5. The scanner will warm up and take an "overview" pre-scan.
6. Settings: (a) Set the Kind, Resolution, Size and Rotation Angle as you desire. (b) Make sure the "Detect Separate Items" checkbox is NOT checked. (c) Adjust the dotted "scanning area" frame in the adjacent overview/preview window. (Note that if you have specified 8.5" x 11", the dotted frame may not appear to be selecting the whole page. This is because, for some reason, Image Capture may place the frame partially off the page. To correct, simply click somewhere within the dotted frame and drag it so that it fits precisely over the area you wish to scan. (d) On the "Scan To" pull-down menu, select "Other...," then choose the "Scanned documents" folder you created in Step 1 above. (e) For the "Name" field, enter "Scan" EXACTLY, without quotes, as your file name. (f) On the "Format" pull-down menu, select "PDF." (g) "Image Correction should be set to "None."
7. Place your first page (only) in your scanner, then click the "Scan" button in Image Capture. A file named "Scan.pdf" will appear in your "Scanned documents" folder.
(Create Automator workflow, steps 8-14)
8. Open the Automator app. You will be asked to choose a template for your workflow. Choose "Image Capture Plugin."
9. In the Automator window, go to the "Files & Folders" Library and drag the "Get SPECIFIED Finder Items" Action to the Automator work area (note that this is NOT the same as "Get SELECTED Finder Items"). In the resulting Action frame, click the "Add..." button and select the "Scan.pdf" file you just created.
10. Next, go to the "PDFs" Library in the Automator window and drag the "Combine PDF Pages" Action to the work area. In the resulting Action frame, make sure the "Appending pages" radio button is selected, NOT the "Shuffling pages" button.
11. (a) Back in the "Files & Folders" Library" (see step 9), drag the "Rename Finder Items" Action to the work area. (b) A dialog box will open asking if you want to add a "Copy Finder Items" Action. Choose "Don't Add." (c) In the Action frame, the first pull-down menu defaults to "Add Date or Time." Change this to "Name Single Item." (d) For "Name," choose the "Basename only" menu option, and enter "Scan" EXACTLY, without quotes, as your file name.
12. (a) Again in the "Files & Folders" Library, drag the "Move Finder Items" Action to the work area. (b) In the Action frame, select "Other..." on the "To" pull-down menu, then choose your "Scanned documents" folder. (c) Make sure the "Replacing existing files" checkbox IS CHECKED.
13. On the menu bar, choose "File -> Save As..." and name your workflow "Append to Scan_pdf". Although the saving process gives you no indication, this workflow will be saved to ~/Library/Workflows/Applications/Image Capture (a directory path that will be automatically created if it doesn't already exist).
14. Delete the "Scan.pdf" file from your "Scanned documents" folder and quit Image Capture.
(Post-setup normal use, steps 15-22)
15. Open Image Capture and turn on your scanner. The "Details" pane should now automatically accompany the image preview area. If not, click the "Show Details" button.
16. Enter your desired settings as in steps 6(a) through 6(c).
17. The "Scan To" pull-down menu should currently default to "Scanned documents," "Name" should default to "Scan," and "Format" should default to PDF. If not, make the necessary corrections.
18. Click the "Scan" button in Image Capture to scan your first page.
19. On the "Scan To" pull-down menu, select your "Append to Scan_PDF" workflow (just above "Other..." on the list).
20. Press scan to scan your second page. Repeat this step for each successive page in your document.
21. IMPORTANT - rename the "Scan.pdf" file in your "Scanned documents" folder to something else, and move it elsewhere if you wish. This "clears the path" for your next scanned document, which would otherwise either disrupt the Automator workflow or append to your existing document.
22. To scan a second multi-page document, reset the "Scan to" pull-down menu to "Scanned documents" and go back to step 18. Otherwise, just quit Image Capture and turn off your scanner.

NMT 1.4 iPhoto issues

Hi all,
This is my first post, let´s see if I make myself clear... :-)
I just bough a Nokia 5800. I installed NMT 1.4 and everything goes great except for two things:
- itunes artwork is not showing up in my phone
- most importantly, when I try to sync my iphoto pics to my phone, nothing will happen. After the syncing process is finished, confirmation messages show up on my screen saying that safari bookmarks and itunes songs have been transferred, but nothing referred to my iphoto pics! And when I check the settings, the "Enable iPhoto Transfer" is always switched off! And I promise, I have switched it on like a thousand times! I´m going bananas here... :-(
Some help would be extremely appreciated! Thanks a lot in advance!

The issue might be with the Nokia Multimedia transfer image capture plugin for Iphoto. Please follow the steps below and check if it works.
-Open HDD-Library-Application Support-Find and Delete the entire Nokia Multimedia Transfer folder.
-Then navigate to users-Library-Application Support -Nokia Multimedia Transfer (delete)
-Applications-Nokia Multimedia Tranfer-Control Click-Show package contents.
-Delete the entire contents folder.
-Make sure the trash is empty.
-Download and install NMT again from www.nokia.com/mac
-Now connect the device and then enable the iphoto transfer option.
-Also check with the artwork transfer to the device.
If the artwork is not working even after following the above steps. Kindly clarify the following
-Is it user added artwork or download from itunes (artwork downloaded from itunes is not supported by NMT)
- How many songs are u transferring having artwork from NMT to device, if many does the artwork show for other tracks?
- If you can send couple of track having artwork, maybe i can check

VRD-VC20 Transfer Questions..please

I am using WinXP HOME SP3, 500HDD and 200HDD onboard with an INTEL Q6600 Quad CPU, NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT GPU, and 3.33MB DDR. NERO9
A friend of mine bought a VRDVC20 DVDirect Transfer device and could not figure this out. They bought it at Best Buy for $230.00. I told her I had bunches of old VHC Camcorder tapes I wanted to burn onto DVD. I also purchased the Studio 12 Pinnacle hardware and software and still trying to figure that out too.
This DVDirect VRD-VC20 came with NERO6 Software, (because it is old) but I already have Nero 9 NeroVision v.6.0.6.0 / Express v.9.0.9.4 / Burning Rom v. 9.0.9.4 with all the Nero9 Apps. Installed on my computer, so I should ONLY install the Application and NO NERO software.
I went to the eSupport page here and it shows both the firmware and software update. VIDEO CAPTURE PLUG-IN v.1.9.3I, & VIDEO CAPTURE UPDATE v.1308) Will any of these downloads mess up my already onboard Pinnacle Studio 12 capture software?
I have (1) a VCR, (2) an Analog JVC 1997 Camcorder, and also a Pinnacle Studio 12 program on board my computer.
The Included Sony software Disc is REV. 6.10W, and I may need to find a possible upgrade to this software.
Before I hook this up, is it possible to capture from analog camera/VCR burn it to computer, then edit any of the bad places out, then use Nero9 to burn, or is this unit strictly for straight non-editable video transfer?
Can you hook the SONY burner up to the front AV jacks of the VCR and pause and record onto DVD while watching on the TV screen exactly what you wish to record, or do you just record blind using the VCR and the SONY burner separate of the TV?
On the box, the Write speed is 16X Max burning, if I connect it to the computer, so it's Ok if my DVD Rom writes only to 8X? or do I need a faster DVR-DVD Burner? The same with burning/writing to the disc inside the machine?
Any tricks, precautions I should know about, or is this a waste of time? Thanks for any info on this.

The Pinnacle Studio 12 software should run fine after the updateâ€“ if you do have any issues with shared files then uninstall and reinstall the software after you run the capture plugin software update.

You can use the VRD-VC20 for both â€“ it can be used to burn from your computer or capture directly from a camcorder or other connected video device.

Yes, the VRD-VC20 will capture whatever is connected, so you can either record blind and convert/edit later or you can pause either the recorder or the device on the fly while monitoring.

Yes, the drive can write at a maximum speed of 16x when using high speed DVD+R or DVD-R discs. When connecting a computer you can specify the write speed with the software. Depending on the type of disc you use you may get better results with a slower speed.
