QT7 Open Image Sequence unreliable timing

Hi, I used "Open Image Sequence" to create a slideshow of 10 jpegs, supposed to be 5 seconds per frame. But when played, the video shows the opening photo for 10 seconds, then plays the others with unpredictable time length (some about 5 seconds as desired; others it flips through in 1-2 seconds.) Am I doing something wrong? How can I get the pictures to actually change every 5 seconds, or if possible, specify how long each photo lasts? thanks

I have a similar problem.
I renamed all the images to use only numbers in sequence.
When I try to create a slide show and select the image in the folder it only shows one and never shows the "Image Sequence Settings" dialog box.
I can play the slide show, but it shows them at about 3 pictures per second.

  • The latest QT 10 player doesn't open image sequence anymore?

I recently upgraded to snow leopard. I found the QT10 came with it has no "open image sequence" under the File menu.
My old QT7.6.6 player has this wonderful feature.
Can someone explain what's going on? Thanks.

I just noticed the same problem. However, I did do a Time Machine backup before I upgraded and was able to restore the previous version of QuickTime as well as keeping the new version. I've just tested the 'Open Image Sequence' on the old version and it appears to work fine.

  • QT Pro "Open Image Sequence" only grabs one image

    QuickTime Pro:
When I try to "Open Image Sequence" on a set of .png images, I don't get the request for a frame rate, and it only opens the first image.
(Actually, the frame rate request window may be flashing by quickly.)
I have the image files numbered sequentially.
Any ideas appreciated. On my previous laptop it worked fine !
    Thanks,
    David

    Hey there,
Your problem is rather strange, I have not had this problem myself. I open sequences all the time with no hassles. I just tested it now with .png files which you've used, no issue. I'm on QT 7.4.1.
I've also just updated to 7.4.5 on another Mac (G4, OSX 10.4.11), and it works fine. Have you asked around to see if anyone else is experiencing this issue?
If it was easy enough to down grade to 7.2, perhaps you could try re-installing QT 7.4. If it doesn't work, just go back to 7.2. Though... I don't want to be the blame for your loss of another Pro code!!
    Good luck.

  • 5K Retina iMac can't open Image Sequence quicktime 7 Pro and 10.10 Yosemite

Brand new and fully loaded iMac 5K crashes every time I attempt to open an image sequence in Quicktime 7 Pro, a feature that is not available in Quicktime X.  I have retried, re-installed, and still issues across the board.
    Someone please fix this...
    System Specs:
    OSX 10.10
    iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014)
    4 GHz Intel Core i7
    32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    AMD Radeon R9 M295X 4096 MB
    Quicktime 7 Pro 7.6.6 (1709)
    Quicktime Player 10.4
To replicate, just open quicktime 7 pro, File>> Open Image Sequence, and then load a camera card full of photos and just wait for it to crash.

If so, please send me a screen shot of your quicktime components folder, maybe you have a codec that I don't.
Also have some legacy codecs turned back on (but Photo-JPEG as used to store image sequence files is not one of them and remains on by default under Yosemite).
Also using JPEG compressed photos from a 24 MP Nikon but restricting resolution to 2560x1920 (4:3), 2560x1707 (3:2), and 2560x1440 (16:9) with max number of photos limited to 2^16-1 (65535).
Also posted a screen capture of my quick test to ensure the QT 7 Pro "Open Image Sequence" option was still working. (Video may be a bit sluggish as I was using QT X to screen capture my use of QT 7 Pro to open an image sequence and forgot that I was also simultaneously still encoding How to Train Your Dragon 2 for my iTunes library.) You may wish to check your QT 7 PLIST file as a corrupted file can sometimes cause the app to crash.

  • No image when open using open image sequence

I cloned my macpro disk to a new, larger hdd using carbon copy. After doing when I open Quicktime 7 I'm unable to see an image when I..
    file > open image sequence
All I see is the player, but no (first) jpg image in the sequence. I even tried paying for Q7 again and getting a new reg code   See image below.

    Hi,
you can try to switch between the devices when you go to START - Control Panel - Display - Settings. There you see Screen 1 and 2 and you can switch between them! Also at Advanced at Dual display settings or Extended desktop are settings which should be checked!
    Bye Bob

It has yet to exist in QT X. Use QT 7 Pro where it has always been.

  • Open image sequence in version 10.1??

I have about 50 photos for a time lapse that I did.  Where is the "open image sequence" pull down menu under file?  Is it not in the version of 10.1?  Please advize.
    Thank you very much.

Importing image sequences is a feature of the "Pro" version of QuickTime Player 7 ($30).
Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion users can run two versions of QuickTime but only version 7 can be upgraded to Pro. You can download and install it from this link:

  • I have an image sequence in JPG and when I select open image sequence, select all does not work and I can only highlight one frame at a time.  I want to import these frames into QT7 to make a time lapse clip.  Any suggestions

I have an image sequence in JPG that I want to import into quitck time 7 for making a time lapse clip.   It has an option to open the image sequence, but when I do, it only lets me highlight one frame at a time.  The select all option seems to do nothing when I click on it trying to highlight all the frames.
If QT7 is not designed to perform this function, is there another alternative?   iMovie is non intuitive for this kind of operation and I cannot find a clear tutorial for using it to make time lapse clips from a sequence of still frames.
The tutorials Ive found on YouTube are well intended, but they all seem to leave out a vital step that eludes detection.
      Anyway, any help appreciated.
    Thanks

Yes, I tried that.   The files were ordered by their original numbers as imported from the camera, but I batched them through Phocoshop to downsize all of them into a more manageable file size.   I opened that destination folder from quick time  from where it said select image sequence.   I clicked on the first one and opened it.   The result was a large image with an arrow indicating a movie was ready to go.   When I pressed the arrow, though, I realized it had only imported that one frame so there was no movie.   The files are Jpgs and are about 450 KB each.
To your knowledge are there any links to iMovie tutorials or quick time tutorials that may address this situation?  Maybe there will be one I haven't looked at yet.
        Thanks

  • QTPro 7 won't open image sequence?

I recently bought a new ASUS computer with Windows 7 and added QTPro7 to create .mov's from jpg image sequences. I've done it numerous times on my older HP6226
    with Windows Vista.
It works sometimes, but not others and I can't see why...i.e. I tell it to open a sequence, select the first image in the sequence, and nothing happens...other times it works fine.
    Any suggestions welcome.
    Thanks!

  • Quicktime 7 crashes on Open Image Sequence

Quick Time 7 Pro keeps crashing when I try and open an image sequence. It used to work fine for me, but I am now running Mavericks and version 7.6.6 of Quicktime pro 7. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you know a work around or an older version on Quicktime 7 Pro that works with Mavericks (and where to find it to download?)
    Thanks.

  • QT 7 Pro - Open Image Sequence

Seems like this has been asked many times before but I have not found any answeres or resolution to this. Here is my version of the problem:
    Quicktime 7.6.6 Pro
    MacBook Pro OSX 10.6.8
I have about 8400 images that are named like Nnnnnnn-2011-08-08-1400-PDT.jpg, where the date and time increments by two hours.
Quicktime will create an image sequence with the first 6 images following the one I selected. In some cases I can get it to do more frames, but it skips along the image sequence. It seems as though it is having trouble with the image names, and not understanding the order. Finder has no issues sorting the files correctly.
    So my questions are:
    Any workarounds?
Any newer version I can use?
Is this recognised as an actual bug by Apple?

Sorry I had to change the file names a bit for some security reasons. The N's represent alpha characters only.
If I select the first one, it uses the next 6 sequential frames and stops.
If I select NN-Nnnnnnn-2011-08-10-0000-PDT.jpg, one time it loaded every 12th frame for a total of 24 frames, where only the date changed but the time remained the same. Another time it loads 12 frames sequentially, and duplcated the 12th frame as the 13th frame.

  • How do I set the Alpha when opening an Image Sequence?

I'm trying to imported a tiff image sequence w/embeded alpha into Final Cut Pro. Since Final Cut Pro has no feature for importing image sequences, I assume that Quicktime Pro is my only choice.
Here's what I've done so far:
    1. Opened Image sequence in Quicktime Pro
    2. Went to "show movie properties"
    3. Selected "Video "Track" which is only track to select
    4. Went to "Visual Settings" tab, "transparency"
    5. Selected "straight alpha"
It turns the alpha or matte area into a solid white. I've tried the other transparency options but they always give me the white.
    6. Import saved quicktime into FCP, edit into timeline, select different alpha settings, always white background.
Am I doing something wrong, or is my graphics guy giving me image sequences with improperly embeded alphas?
Avid will import the image sequence and read the alpha with no problem.

In Final Cut (prefs) set the duration for still's
Import the still folder. Or make a bin folder in the bowser window...
Drop the still folder on the time line ....done
I just did a test and it works.........

  • Image Sequence Settings in QT Pro - what is the Frame Rate range available?

I am considering purchasing QT Pro for Windows. I wish to make a time lapse movie out of a series of pictures. I would like to know what the range of options is for the "Image Sequence Settings" in File->Open image Sequence... menu. Does is it go well beyond 1 second?
    Thanks!
    Chris

Frames rates are from 10 seconds per frame up to 60 frames per second.
I make many image sequence movies and just start with one frame per second.
I then "add scaled" to a properly timed audio only file. This way you can get nearly any frame rate you could ever need.
