QT7 pro doesn't open vob files

i can't understand why after i bought the code to upgrade to QT7 pro and also the mpeg2 component i still can't open vob file with quicktime and i can't convert them with divx codec....someone help me please!

Most DVDs use mpeg-2 in the VOB files and QT even with the mpeg-2playbackcomponent will not export the sound from these muxed mpeg files: QT Mpeg Limitations
MpegStreamclip will export both sound and video from mpeg-1 and if you have the mpeg2component installed it will also export both from mpeg-2: Mpeg StreamClip
However, it relies on the mpeg2component to read the mpeg-2 files and that means it will not read encrypted movies, even if you own them.

Every tutorial I find says to open text file in quicktime, however my quicktime player pro doesn't do that. It says "file is not a movie file" and doesn't play it at all. How do I solve it, please?

For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys. Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it. It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process. Open vob files in final cut pro x

We have just purchased Final Cut Pro X under the impression that it would open vob files. However this does not seem to be the case as vob files are greyed out. Is there a work around besides having to purchase more software?

Quicktime doesn't open AVI file with Perian installed

I have installed Perian but Quicktime X doesn't open AVI files for a week. I have repaired permissions. But Quicktime only plays the AVI file if I reboot the Mac. VLC always plays the file. The AVI codec is XVID. Quicktime doesn't play other formats such as FLV. I have deleted .plist files, com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX.plist. I have found other files(com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX.plist.0GH3f31, com.apple.QuickTimePlayerX.plist.0h9MBzV...) that I deleted also. Any idea? Thanks

And now ... surprisingly I view AVI files in Quicktime without Perian.
QT has very limited AVI support (file type and a few older codecs) built in. Most common codecs use by Windows users, however, require the additional support provided by Perian. If the AVI files are now playing in QT without Perian, then simply check the Inspector, Properties, or Info window to see which codecs are in your AVI file and you should be able to tell if they are among those supported "natively" by QT. Also note that this regaining of the ability to play your files may indicate a component conflict of some sort may have existed previously.

Let me give you a slightly different perspective than everyone else here. You are using an unsecured wireless network, which means that all your network traffic is easily available for viewing by anyone else using that network. That's bad. Very bad, for you, unless you absolutely trust everyone who lives within range of this network. So stop doing it.
As to the Mac not connecting, wireless networking is simply too complex for any reasonable answer without more information. There are many possible error points, and as often as not it's the Mac that can connect and the Windows PC that cannot. Since you can't give us any information about the configuration of the neighbor's network, and can't make any changes to it, we can't do much to help you troubleshoot it.

Just updated to new version of Photoshop and when I double click on a psd, a new instance of Photoshop opens but it doesn't open the file.

If I use open from Photoshop it opens the file. If I drag and drop into photoshop(and there is nothing open in photoshop) is opens.

HOW I CAN OPEN .VOB FILES FROM QUICK TIME TO CONVERT FOR IPOD VIDEO?

.VOB files are MPEG-2 format. QuickTime can't play them without the help of the MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20) and can't export the audio when "converting".
MPEG Streamclip 1.5.1 (free) can convert the audio and video to .mp4 format for iPod playback. It even has an iPod preset that changes all of the file settings to iPod specs.

Safari doesn't open PHP files

If i try to open a PHP file in safari, it shows the code. If the PHP file isn't local, for example, on a local website (using air sharing on my ipod touch and adding php files to it), it will download the file. If I open it there, it will only display the codes like it does on the original file on my mac. I'm trying to use wordpress but it doesn't work. Once I think i saw some of the page working (it was the login page and it was PHP). But i've tried everything i could do but it never worked again. Please help me! Thanks!

You don't open PHP files in Safari.
Safari doesn't know how to run PHP code so it just displays the file content.
You need to run them under a web server - the web server runs the code and outputs the appropriate content.
By default, on Mac OS X you start up the built-in web server (System Preferences -> Sharing -> Personal Web Sharing) and should place the files in /Library/WebServer/Documents/
You then access them in Safari via something like:
http://localhost/my.php

Acrobat Pro Won't Open PDF Files

I get this message when trying to click open pdf files in a directory. These files will open from Acrobat open file menu. Message - The document “SpecSheet_Zip.pdf” could not be opened. Acrobat cannot open files in the “Adobe PDF document” format. I'm using Mac OS 10.6 and acrobat pro 8.2.5. Any ideas how to fix would be appreciated.

The same thing happens with pdf files that are not zip files even if saved from Acrobat Pro on my computer.

File hyperlink doesn't open link file, says 'No permission'

I have created some pdf file links in Evernote and when try to open them systems says "The file __ couldnt be opened because you dont have permission". I am the only user on my mac(OS 10.8.3) with admin privilege and checked all permissions it is "Read/Write" for me. Also all those files were created by me.
But when I open the file manually in preview and close the window (Not Preview application), and then click the hyperlink it opens it. So I am not sure what to do, apparently these file links does not work when document is not opened by preview application.
I also have a hyperlink for a document (Pages) but that opens perfectly fine.
I searched in community forum and someone suggested to repair file permissions using disk utility. I tried all that but no results.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.

If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. DVD Studio Pro tries to open unrelated files...Please help.

Ok, here is my problem, and I'm not even sure if this is the right forum for my question. I recently tried to install a .componet file for Garage Band and it didn't work. When I Control Click and get to the "Get Info" option it says that this .componet file is an "iDVD 2 Project". Upon further inspection most of my .plugin files are marked the same when they are not.
Is there any way to change how these files are open...or at least tell DVD Studio Pro that these are not the types of files it thinks they are?

You say iDVD & dvdsp... and yep this is more of an OS issue... but when you get info why not go to the 'Open with' section and choose the app you want to use to open the file type with. Then hit the Change All.. button,
