QT7 pro registration

Hi all
I purchased a QT7 pro registration key about 4 months ago and it worked fine... Recently i updated my QT software to 7.0.4 and the Pro functionality has gone! I have re-entered my key with no luck. Has anyone had this problem, apple wont help because my computer is more than 3 months old. I don't want to do and archive and reinstall if possible.
i also tried uninstalling QT 7.0.4 and installing 7.0.1 - no joy

Check the registration info again. I suspect you're entering it wrong.
Use copy/paste from the email confirmation you got from Apple to avoid common errors like a O where a zero is used.

QT7 Pro won't save in situ

I have QT7 Pro on OS X 10.6.8 on an Intel Mac Pro, recently transitioned from PPC Mac. When I first started editing video with QT7 Pro on this computer, it worked just like it always had on my PPC Mac. Today, I cannot save movies in situ. IOW, when I edit a movie and try to save it, the Save As dialog drops down from the window title bar. I am forced to either Save As a reference movie or a self-contained movie, and I have to save it to a different name or a different folder. Previously the program just put markers into the file showing where edits were made and the file size did not change and I could just save after editing without any fuss. I have tried deleting my personal quicktime preferences and the system quicktime preferences to no avail.

Problem solved: I deleted the registration code and re-entered it.

Enhanced Podcasts with QT7 Pro for Win??

I purchased QT7 Pro thinking I might be able to create an enhanced podcast on the PC since Apple's Chapter Tool isn't available for PC and there seems to be nothing mentioning anywhere if and when it will ever be available for PC.
I created an MP4 movie with AAC audio and a photo JPEG video track... and made sure that my movie had the exact same codecs and specs as the "Make Magazine Enhanced Podcast" did, as stated in the movie info tabs. I added chapters and the two files SEEM like they play identical in Quicktime Player... but when I add "my" file I created into iTunes, it doesn't display chapters or artwork like it did in QT Player
All the specs seem identical. What's different?
Can this be done? It seems like it SHOULD work...

I kept researching and reading after putting up the post.
Upgrading to OS 10.4 & DSP4 & FCP5 to get Compressor 2 is just to expensive for me at this time.
And after much thought upgrading to QT7 for h.264 just to watch videos online, (and not having broadband thats a very time consuming process), I think I'll just stay with what I have at the moment which works well.

Can't copy and paste in QT7 Pro

When I try to copy a video for pasting into another I do this:
Select All in one video
Copy
Click on the second video and take playhead to the start
Paste
All I get is a blip telling me it can't paste. What has happened is that the Copy didn't work. However, if I have copied to the Clipboard in another application, what is on the clipboard is pasted into the second video. Amazing stuff. I'll get text or pictures inside the second video. I'm impressed that I can do that (didn't know I could), but that's not what I want.
Any clues as to why I can't copy from QT7 Pro? How can I fix it?
I'm running 10.6.8 and QT 7.6.6 Pro.

Another way to clear the Pro registration is to delete the com.apple.QuickTime.plist file. You can search for it, but it's probably in the "All Users" folder in Application Data -> Apple Computer -> QuickTime.
Trash that file and it should clear the Pro registration.

What does "old movies" mean to you? File type, audio and/or video compression format(s)?

To which fix do you refer? Activatng QT 7 Pro or converting the files? Even with QT 7 Pro activated you may need to modify your QT codec component configuration depending on the file type and compression formats used to encode your "old movies." There may be many different problems here with each having one or more "fixes." Please try to be more specific regarding your questions. Converting a muxed VOB MPEG2/AC3 file would be very different different from converting an AVI DivX5/MP3 file depending on which application you are attempting to use.

Apple are very lazy in giving instructions and it came with OS X v10.6 and OS X v10.5, nothing for OS X v10.7 or OS X v10.8? I've OS X v10.8.2...I'm baffled. I don't need a mind game. I just want a job done.
The instructions found at URL http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3678 are up-to-date since they refer to QT 7 v7.6.6 which is compatible with all versions of the Mac OS X v10.6.3 and later—including Lion and Mountain Lion.

QT7 Pro will not complete Export Apple TV

I have started to use QT7 Pro after a long while. I recently downloaded the QT7.6.6 upgrade.
I can open and play .mp4 files on QT7 Pro, however I want to export the files to Apple TV.
This appears to be working but the progress bar in the Export Display window shows a reducing time down to +"Exporting - about 1 minute remains"+, it will not complete the export to produce a new .m4v file for adding to iTunes.
This has worked OK in the past few days but has "failed" on several different files. I have Quicktime X installed but have
The only thing I can recall doing was to +Edit>"Trim to Selection"+ the file since then It has not worked.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have Quicktime X and whilst the same files play on the computer when I try to export the mid sized export option to Apple TV is "+Greyed Out+". I have successfully installed the +(iPhone & iPod)+ versions on to apple TV whilst these seem to play OK I suspect the resolution is not the optimum.

I've had to move to a new machine. My QT Pro is automatically registered under my FCP "Pro Application" thing. How can I find my QT Pro registration number on my old machine so I can use it on my new machine.

There is no separate number. It is part of the FCP install.
If you have a legit FCP install - do it from the disks rather than migrating - QT Pro will be good to go.

Apple keep purchase information for up to 18 months, it is then deleted after this time.
If you did not keep the registration details from the purchase email, you will need to purchase it again.

Only the QT 7 Player can be upgraded to QT 7 "Pro"—not the QT Player (A.K.A. QT X Player). Follow THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

Quicktime Pro registration code

Awhile back I purchased the quicktime pro registration code, installed it and it worked fine. With the latest release of Quicktime I found I could no longer play my earlier .mov files so I uninstalled the that version of QT but took care to copy down and double check my quicktime pro registration code before I did (the warning screen was a big help there).
I installed Quicktime 6.5.2 and now I can't put the registration code in for QT Pro. I get the message that my registration code and registered to aren't right. I have tried it with and without caps and the dashes. I have tried only my first name or last and reversed the order. I even tryed my itunes ID as the registered to but nothing works.
Is it possible that I am using a version of QT that predates my registration code? I have had QT pro for at least 6 months.
If they fixed the problems with the latest release of QT I would try that but I won't bother until it works correctly. Contacting Apple is tricky. They don't seem to want to interface with customers in any way shape or form. Its all FAQ and discussion groups.
Anyone have to reinput registration codes on QT that could offer me some insight?

Pro keys have always worked in any release of the version for which you purchased it. Also, you should have backward compatibility with any earlier formats. I have been using QT since version 2.5 and later versions have always played formats introduced in earlier versions.
In short, there is something about your system (a corrupt file or something) that is interferring with QT. You may need to completely purge yoiur system of all parts of earlier installations of QT and staart over. Being primarily a Mac person I can't tell you how to do that. But you seem to need to do that, as these issues of non-compatibility with earlier formats or Keys are just not correct. If that were a general problem for the Windows version I am sure a large number of people would have posted the problem here in the Windows forum.

I already bought a quicktime 7 pro registration code twice.
My hard drive just crashed and I lost everything, including my registration code for quicktime 7 pro.
In the online store where you buy that code, you can login with your name and password, and you can see a history of your purchases, but only of the last 18 months.My purchase is a couple months older so I can't see it in my history.

Sorry, but Apple can no longer provide codes purchased more than 18 months ago. If you don't have a backup of either the email containing the code or the QuickTime preference files, then you'll have to purchase a key yet again, or find a third-party product that can do what you need.
