QT7 should I wait? Still have FCP4.5 & DSP3

I've been considering going up to QT7. And getting PRO and MPEG2.
I'm a bit concerned about doing so, especially after reading some of the posts on this site about issues people are still having.
I therefore seek feedback from anyone in my situation.
I (still) have OS 10.3.9; FCP 4.5; and DSP3.0.2.
I can't afford any further upgrades in those areas at this time.
If I upgrade to QT7 Pro should I expect problems?
Will QT7 work OK with FCP 4.5?
I've read that there are issues with QT7 and DSP3.
Is staying with QT6.5 the wise option at this time?
I downloaded and installed iTunes6 which I believe needs QT7 for some functions. Is this only for videos downloaded for iTunes6?
Any advise anyone can offer, most gratefully recieved.

Hi Mike,
Actually, as of now there is still no QT 7.0.2 Reinstaller (i.e. 7.0.3 -> 7.0.2). You have to download the 7.0.1 Reinstaller.
According to that download page:
The QuickTime 7.0.1 Reinstaller will remove QuickTime 7.0.2 or later and restore your system to QuickTime 7.0.1.
Note the "or later" phrase that Apple references here... which we have all seen is not true on certain systems having QT 7.0.3, mine included.
Therefore, the only way to downgrade from QT 7.0.3 to 7.0.1 (7.0.1 is necessary to run the QT 6.5.2 Reinstaller) successfully (in these cases where running the Reinstaller doesn't work) is to use Pacifist to extract and install the files from the .pkg in the 7.0.1 Reinstaller.
It does take a little time, but in the end, after a restart your system should be back to 7.0.1.
Now... is this the link that you said really now points to the QT 7.0.3 download?

1. You did not get an error message telling you that your iPhoto library was getting full. You got a message telling you that your HD was getting full, right?
OS X needs about 10 gigs of hard drive space for normal OS operations - things like virtual memory, temporary files and so on.
Without this space your Mac will slow down as the OS hunts for space on the disk, files will be fragmented, also slowing things down, apps will crash and the risk of data corruption - that is damage to your files, photos, music - increases exponentially.
Your first priority is to make more space on that HD. Nothing else can be done until you do.
Purchase an external HD and move your Photos and Music to it. Both iPhoto and iTunes can run perfectly well with the Library on an external disk.
Your Library has been damaged from being run on an overfull disk.
How much free space on it now?

Let's take a look into this to see if we can figure out what happened. When did this begin? What's the software version of the device? Most users haven't had problems with iOS 6, however, some have. I'm still using iOS 5.1.1 on my iPad 2. There is a beta version iOS 6.1 being tested. Don't know when it will be released. When it is released, I'll update.

You should contact the developer directly to inform them of any issues.
There should be links in the App and if not, there should be links
to the developer's site and support in their presentation in the App Store.

You may want to hold off upgrading to Lion for a bit and check with the HP site to see if they will update their HP software for Lion compatbility.

you still have the option (before your warranty expires) of purchasing an AppleCare Protection Plan, which will provide an additional two years of coverage. Once your warranty expires, you will no longer have the option of purchasing AppleCare.

You can re-download apps but not music. If you still have the old drive then put it in an enclosure to see if you can recover files using recovery software.
Basics of File Recovery
Files in Trash
If you simply put files in the Trash you can restore them by opening the Trash (left-click on the Trash icon) and drag the files from the Trash to your Desktop or other desired location. OS X also provides a short-cut to undo the last item moved to the Trash -press COMMAND-Z.
If you empty the Trash the files are gone. If a program does an immediate delete rather than moving files to the Trash, then the files are gone. Recovery is possible but you must not allow any additional writes to the hard drive - shut it down. When files are deleted only the directory entries, not the files themselves, is modified. The space occupied by the files has been returned to the system as available for storage, but the files are still on the drive. Writing to the drive will then eventually overwrite the space once occupied by the deleted files in which case the files are lost permanently. Also if you save a file over an existing file of the same name, then the old file is overwritten and cannot be recovered.
General File Recovery
If you stop using the drive it's possible to recover deleted files that have not been overwritten by using recovery software such as Data Rescue II, File Salvage or TechTool Pro. Each of the preceding come on bootable CDs to enable usage without risk of writing more data to the hard drive. Two free alternatives are Disk Drill and TestDisk. Look for them and demos at MacUpdate or CNET Downloads.
The longer the hard drive remains in use and data are written to it, the greater the risk your deleted files will be overwritten.
