QtKitErrorCatchAll on Export

I have seen that a few other have experienced a similar problem to mine, albeit with a different error code number. I suspect that the important part of the error is the qtKitErrorCatchAll - which suggests a problem that the QuickTime engineers didn't explicitly anticipate. The error number that I get is -2010, regardless of the video file that I try to save.
The video files that I'm trying to export to Apple TV format were generated by MPEG Streamclip and are MPEG 2 format. Quicktime can play them, it's exporting them that causes difficulty. The filesizes are between 500MB and 2GB. The same error occurs no matter what format I try to export to. For the record, I used to be able to do this without any difficulty - the problem has only occurred recently, although I can't say with my hand on my heart whether it was a QuickTime update that caused the problem.
I have tried this on my 2GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook with 2GB RAM and 60GB of free hard drive space (from 111.47GB total) running Mac OS X 10.4.10, with QuickTime Pro 7.2.0. I have not yet tried it on my PowerMac G4.

I'm also getting the -2125 error. The movie I'm exporting is 1:56:32 in length. Originally it was in Windows Media WMV format, so I thought that was the problem.
I was able to export the movie into .MOV format using Apple Intermediate Codec with no problem, so I tried exporting from the .MOV file and got the same -2125 error.
A bad thing happens -- the temporary file that QuickTime uses IS NOT DELETED and is INVISIBLE. Unless you're using Terminal, you cannot see the HUGE temporary file that is left behind!
I searched my computer for more of the temporary .QT_ files and found many on aborted QuickTime Pro exports, taking up several GIGABYTES of hard drive space. This is a major problem!

Avi Export Error - qtKitErrorCatchAll (-2125)

Hey All-
Trying to export an AVI file to play on my AppleTV. File is a composite of 2 AVI's that I've copied and pasted together. Files play fine, and I've done this with other AVIs before with no problems. I've also tried to convert them to MOVs and then combine/export but the same error message gets thrown:
qtKitErrorCatchAll (-2125)
Anyone know what this error means? Any suggestions?

HI I was exporting a AVI file into an ipod file using quicktime export, after a few hours, quicktime stopped exporting and this error message appeared. I have successfully exported tons of movies but this happens from time to time. I was hoping someone may know what this error is and how I can avoid it.

I had the exact same thing. And this error drove me crazy. And it occurred out of pure random. I found a solution which at least works for me:
Make sure "NotificationCenter" is "correctly" running.
Hope this fixes the issue for others as well.

QuickTime Pro 7 Export Failed qtKitErrorCatchAll (-49)

I'm trying to do some converting of Webex WRF recordings over to QuickTime for loading onto a Citrix GoToWebinar account. Process takes three passes and is as follows:
- WRF to WMV on Windows (that's all WebEx provides)
- WMW to MP4 on Windows (can't convert WMVs on a Mac for free)
- MP4 to MOV with QuickTime on a Mac for Citrix upload (have to use QuickTime Pro 7 because of output options)
The Citrix support .MOV format must be H.264, AAC, Hinted Streaming to upload properly. Some files have converted alright, but now I'm getting the error above in the subject.

Failed to export AVI for iPhone (9459)

I have been unable to successfully export an AVI file in iPhone format. Each time I get the message "Failed: qtKitErrorCatchAll (-9459)". Can anyone tell me what this message means? Are these errors documented anywhere?

7.6.2 Update Kills H.264 Audio, AIFF, WMV Exporting

After updating from 7.5.5 to 7.6.2 from the standalone updater, I can no longer export audio to H.264 files. Video encodes as normal, but the property tab shows that only .06 seconds of audio in a 19 test second file (XDCAM EX converted to .mov) The sound in the original file is fine.
Also, trying to export AIFF files from a Quicktime movie no longer works. I get the error message "Operation could not be completed. (OSStatus error -208.)
Exporting Windows Media files through Flip4Mac gives me "Failed: qtKitErrorCatchAll (-2166)
I have trashed preferences and reinstalled 7.6.2 again, repairing permissions after each install. I removed 3rd party codecs from the Quicktime except for Flip4Mac which I need. This is just what I've discovered in the last 12 hours. I have no idea what else is broken.
I've never seen a Quicktime update cause so much damage.

I'm not insinuating that the AIFF issue is tied to the H.264 or any other issue, just listing that all these things (and who knows what else) have been broken by this installation.
The version of Flip4Mac is 2.2.2.3 which I believe is the latest version.
I have done yet another install from the 7.6.2 combo updater after trashing preferences and receipts and there is no change in any of these situations. Exporting from a Final Cut Pro timeline also ends repeatedly in a General Error.

QT Pro won't export to anything

I admit I'm not a video expert, but I should at least be able to get quicktime to export a video into some sort of useable format.
I recently purchased a Sony HDR-SR12. It records HD video in a format called .MTS. This format apparently hates the Mac and won't work with it. So, I downloaded a program called iSkysoft Video Converter. This would open the .MTS files and convert them to .MOV files.
However, when I open the MOV files in Quicktime, I cannot export them to anything else. Nor can I import anything into iMovie. And this is my main goal. MOV files, AVI files, WMV files... It doesn't matter. I cannot get any of these into iMovie.
I feel this is a question i should post in the iMovie forum. However, the problem seems to start with Quicktime as I cannot even export ANYTHING out of QT. All I get is "qtKitErrorCatchAll (-2166)" error codes and such.
I do have QT Pro 7.6 and am working with OS 10.5.6
Do these programs not work anymore?

OK, I tried removing all the files from the "New Event" folder and adding the MOV files in one-by-one. No dice. All I get is the folder icon and clicking on it gives me the "NO Matching Video" message.
May I assume you did open and close the iMovie application each time you added a file? (I.e., iMovie only scans the folder as the application is opening and would not detect changes in the folder contents otherwise.)
The MOV files do open in quicktime and play just fine. BUT, i can't export them into anything else. i can't even copy a small clip, load it into an empty QT file and save/export to anything w/o getting the same error i was getting in QuickTime before. It's as though QuickTime will do nothing other than play, even though I payed for Pro.
Would have to see a sample file before making any guesses here.
Could it be possible that since I bought QT Pro there's been an update, and, even though it says I have QT 7.6 Pro, it's only a player? OK, not likely if it says pro, but it's not working.
Not that I know of. Does QT Pro work normally with other foes -- i.e., can it edit, trim, copy, save, etc normally?
I mean, if I import a video and it will play, how can it be that i can't export it to anything that iMovie can see? I'm trying not to be a whiner, but this is really frustrating.
It is possible to may QT file "playback only" -- i.e., they can be played but not edited, converted, or saved. However, I just downloaded the application and ran an "evaluation" test and the file was editable, convertible, and re-saveable -- but i the file was a normal SD file as I have no AVCHD content to test.
BTW, the inspector says:
Format: Apple Intermediate Codec, 960 x 540, Millions 16 bit integer (Little Endian) Stereo (LR) 48,000 kHz
Is this what it's supposed to say? If not, any ideas as to what i should do?
Am a little confused here about your work flow. I don't see a specific output for AIC video in the iSkySoft list. So are these MOV files converted directly from AVCHD (MTS/M2TS) files copied to your hard drive or did you convert MOV (AIC/AIFF) files already captured from your camcorderby iMovie '09? Would normally expect iMovie '08/'09 imports to be AIC video with "Big" Endian order rather than "Little" Endian but QT supports both.
Basically, I have never used any of the iSkySoft applications before today so I hesitate to say much about them without more personal experience. Most Intel Mac users either get iMovie '08/'09 to import AVCHD files directly or join the PPC users in copying AVCHD to their hard drive and then converting using the Voltaic HD application which seems to have a very good reputation with many AVCHD users who post here on a regular basis.

QuickTime Pro audio exporting error - help please!

So I've got Perian installed to read 1080p HD movies and I opened up .mkv files in QuickTime Pro and allowed it to read the files into memory (let the grey bar go for a few minutes). Once that was done, I wanted to export the DTS 5.1 surround sound audio track to .AIF format and do a pass through encoding of the video only. After this, I use MAX to convert the .AIF file into an AC3 file which I add back into the video only to create the final .mp4 file with 5.1 sound. I've done this successfully before and I prefer this method to downconverting the 5.1 audio into stereo sound when converting the .mkv to .mp4. This time however, QuickTime Pro miserably failed. I have Avatar in 1080p and The Lord of the Rings trilogy in 1080p as well and I wanted to convert them to .mp4 the same way I've done before. All of them failed with the same error. When I tried to export the audio, I believe it said, "qtKiterrorcatchall (-1309)" and it failed. It said this for all of the videos and strangely enough, it worked great with another .mkv movie I had perfectly with audio and video tracks in the same formats. Does anyone know how I can fix this and export the audio track so I can preserve the surround sound and put it back into the .mp4 video file? Many thanks...

There were a number of suggestions in that thread; take another look. The most problem seems to have been people attempting to save directly to a FAT32 drive or to an NFS file share. Saving to an HFS+ drive is highly recommended.

Other suggestions included attempting to use a non-Intel/universal plugin (such as the Flash export plugin) or other incompatible plugin, and corrupted source material.

Whether any of those might apply in your situation I don't know, but there were certainly a number of possibilities in that thread.

Quick Time error on export to iTunes

I am trying to get one of my own 8 min. videos onto my iPhone. It is already in quicktime format (.mov). Following the instructions on "Creating Video for iPod" I'm guessing it's similar for iPhone, so I open QT, Open File, Choose Export, Choose movie to iPhone, and then it starts exporting and within 2-3 seconds it stops and I get a message that says "Failed: qtKitErrorCatchAll (-61)"
Also there seems to be a choice between exporting to iPhone and iPhone (cellular) and I don't know the difference.
Can someone help me with this? Thanks!

In QuickTime Pro (v7.6.2) Error message: Failed: qtKitErrorCatchAll(-2125)

G'day everyone,
I made a video project in iMovie '09. My intention is to burn this video at the end on a DVD to watch it via a wide screen TV.
What did I do? (reference to: David Glover "Creating higher -quality HD video with iMovie '09")
1. I exported the video, using QuickTime, to the "Apple Intermediate Codec" at the full 1920x1080 size.
Therefore I chose "Export using QuickTime" in the Share menu of iMovie. etc. etc.
2. Than I had to deinterlace the video with the JES Deinterlacer.
3. The last step to perform was to compress and scale the video with QuickTime Pro.
During this last step I got (after about three hours! and having done already about 80% of the process) the message: Failed: qtKitErrorCatchAll(-2125)
Needless to write perhaps, very frustrating, because it took 2h15' for step 1, 1h10' for step 2 and step 3 about three hours and than having the message as mentioned above!
Very much appreciated if someone can help me out!

We started with an iMovie project.
In step 1 we selected the full 1920x1080 size
Format: Integer (Little Endian)
Sample rate: 48.000 kHz (Recommended)
Sample size: 16-bit
Channels: Stereo (L R)
In step 2 we selected the Block match threshold: 300, Gamma 2.22
In step 3 we chose "Movie to MPEG-4", Video format H.264 Data Rate:16200, Image Size 1920x1080 HD,
Under H.264 Video Options we chose Restrict Profile(s) to Main en Encoding Mode to Faster encode (single-pass)
In the streaming tab we turned off "Enable streaming"

Adobe Bridge CS6 for mac: export modules, facebook export module gives an error every time i try to sign in

in the export module for facebook every time i click "sign in to facebook" it gives the following error: "An error occurred while request facebook connection"

The export module has been discontinued in Bridge CC and as long as it has been there the option for social media has worked only for FB in a few countries. Due to rights management (as we where told) there where restrictions for most other countries. But if it did work for you in the past you should try click on FB in export module or use the tiny menu icon in the export panel for preferences and try to set up a new connection.

Obrigado pela pronta resposta.
Debugamos a BADI e descobrimos que os dados de importação estão sendo gravado "em branco", gerando o erro de validação no GRC, tal qual dito por você.
Aprimoramos a lógica da BADI para que a tag de importação não seja preenchida indevidamente para as notas de devolução do porto e as notas foram aprovadas.

LR 4 exports to wrong folder, anybody else?

HI, my rig includes Windows 7, Asus P8Z68 Deluxe Gen 3 with i7 2600K, 16GB DDR3 mem, SSD drives, fast Radeon video card.
I'm using Lightroom 4, just upgraded, have this problem: when I export to Folder1> Subfolder 1, it puts the export images in the next up hierarchical folder, i.e. Folder1. I select the folder I want in the Export dialog, and I don't have any subfolders selected or created, but it always sticks the shots in the next folder up the tree, it's happened every time I've exported.

The subfolder is the folder I selected in the dialogue. c.frans w is right. In 2.7 I never had to check and create a subfolder, which is what that box is for, unless I wanted to. Usually I just select the folder I want, but in 4, when I do that, it jumps to the next higher folder.

Auto-generated links exported from InDesign do not work in tablet apps

Hyperlinks automatically detected and exported from InDesign CS6 8.0.1 as a PDF work fine on the desktop version of Acrobat Reader. However, on the iPad version of Adobe Reader as well as iBooks and GoodReader, these links are completely ignored, meaning they are just text.
On the other hand, if I was to manually set the hyperlink in InDesign or Acrobat, the link works fine.
It would be extremely tedious and time consuming to manually reset hundreds of hyperlinks in my documents since InDesign use to handle this correctly.
Is this a bug? If so, it's pretty serious and should be Adobe's priority to fix since millions of people read documents on tablet devices.

No, it's a Feature of Acrobat and reader that they attempt to create links from anything that "looks like" a URL. Other readers lack the feature.
It's not good practice to depend on this in any case as it's hardly foolproof even in Acrobat. Links that break across lines, for example, will not be properly recognized.
