  • Does my OS X qualify for free upgrade?

Does my OS X qualify for free upgrade?

Log into your iTunes account. Look at your purchases.. Store/View My Account. If you paid for Lion it will be in the first section. Click on "Report A Problem".  Explain that you want a refund. They answer within 24 hours, and you get your refund 3-4 days later.  I was unable to install it on my 7-month old Mac. No questions asked they gave me the refund and were pleasant about it. You must do this through iTunes, not the App Store.

  • How do I get my iLife back for free after Lion Upgrade?

I upgraded from the Snow Leopard OS to Lion OS (using the thumb drive Apple sales) about a week ago, using a "Clean Install"; after doing which, I found that I couldn't find a lot of the app.s my wife and I downloaded. Our iLife collection is the only set I am truely upset about.
I called apple technical support and the lady asked me to find the Application CD that came with my iMac when I ordered it from Apple. I thought she would know what she was talking about and I ask a good deal of questions before using the CD. All the questions of which were answered to my satisfaction; however, I started the install of the CD and I got off the phone with the tech.supt. After about an hour, install done, iMac re-started, and my iLife app.s are no where to be found.
And!!!...My computer is now doing this freeze thing...where we have to do a Forced Power down to get it unfrozen!
Please help someone. I just want to get my wife's iphoto and iMovie back that she loves to tinker with (without having to pay for it all over again).

Do you work for Apple? So what you are telling me: it doesn't matter if I payed for it once, Apple is so low tech or just could care less about its customers that I am going to have to come out of pocket again. What is the point of the 90 day technical support that Apple offers with the Lion upgrade when it is purchased if the technical support just says...sorry, we can't help you with this problem.?
I am going to have to come out of pocket for a lot more than just the iLife collection that Apple has a copy of my purchase, which validates my request, yet Apple is not going to help me out. If that is the case, this would have to be the worst customer service I have ever gotten.
You are correct that it is my fault that my apps are gone because I did the clean install and did not think to back up my app.s, but is Apple hurting that much for money that it needs to squeeze money out of people that delete software by mistake? I have gotten two app.s for free from other small time app writers to put back on this computer after the Lion upgrade just by emailing them what happened and my info.
What about the freezing problem my iMac is having after I performed the task Apple tech supt told me to, which didn't work and created a new problem. You didn't address the freezing issue. You stating what I already said and adding a snooty comment to the end of it, while not offering any real help or advice pertaining to my questions, has been a waste of my time and an inconvenience to me that was not need. How about you think next time, before you type.
If anyone else would like to point out that I messed up or that I have no choice but to pay again, please hold your comments and allow those who might have a suggestion or answer to post, so I can get the help I asked for. Thank you, and thank you QuickTimeKirk for the speedy reply.

  • I qualified for the 29.99 upgrade special, but it still charged me 49.99?

I just upgraded to Creative Cloud from an upgrade special that said I qualified for a 29.99 membership for upgrading from Creative Suite. When I purchased the Cloud, it still charged me 49.99. I purchased this with the premise it would be for the 29.99 price.
The upgrade offer that said I qualified was on this page:

  • Windows 7 Pro with KMS activation valid for free Windows 10 upgrade?

    Dear
    following Situation:
    Operating Systems: Windows 7 Pro
    Activated With one KMS key
Now my question: Is it allowed for us to upgrade to Windows 10 for free?
The reason is, when we buy new Clients for the Company, we of course buy them with an OEM license, that we have a valid Windows license, but then we Image the machines with a Software deployment tool. So every System has for our activation the KMS key. Now we would like to make a fresh new Installation of this Clients with Windows 10. This means the actual Windows 7 Pro key, which we bought at the beginning, is not really transfered to Windows 10 because of the Software deployment with one volume license key.
Has anyone knowledge of this topic?
    Kind regards

The hardware used in both the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industrial Control Systems (ICS) have many similarities. Both often involve older systems incapable of running detection tools or monitoring agents due to outdated operating systems, resource limitations, proprietary systems, and odd protocols such as Modbus and DNP3, amongst other restrictions. The lack of visibility […]…Read MoreThe post Sweet Security: Deploying a Defensive Raspberry PI appeared first on The State of Security.

  • If I buy a mac with mountain lion and then upgrade to mavericks wil I get iWork for free, If I buy a mac with mountain lion and then upgrade to mavericks wil I get iWork for free

If I buy a mac with mountain lion and then upgrade to mavericks will I get iWork for free.

If you buy a new Mac with Mountain Lion, any included software is free and can be redownloaded from AppStore for that machine only. Some software only gets reinstalled if OS X (only) gets installed over itself to fix issues. See #8 Step here.
..Step by Step to fix your Mac
If you upgrade to Mavericks usually only OS X itself is changed (sometimes the hidden User Library is also), all the  software (and user accounts) also carries over (compatible or not), and Apple's software is upgraded.
So if your new Mountain Lion Mac comes with free iWork, then when you upgrade to Mavericks it will still be there.
If your new Mountain Lion does not come with free iWork, then it won't magically appear for free if you upgrade to Mavericks.
If you need a free Office suit, I suggest you look at the donationware LibreOffice.
You will likely need to control key or right click to "Open" LibreOffice to approve through OS X's "Gatekeeper".
You will need to manually update it also, as it's not on AppStore.
    https://www.libreoffice.org/
Benefit of LibreOffice is it's completely cross-platform compatible, so you can share working files with Windows and Linux users, which you can't with iWork.
You also should learn Microsoft Office when you have the funds, because it's standardized in the business world.

  • Can I upgrade to iLife '11 for free?

    Hi,
I purchased a new iMac a couple months ago.  It came installed with Snow Leopard and iLife '11.  I also have a late 2009 MacBook.  The MacBook has Snow Leopard and iLife '09 installed on it.  I had since installed Lion on my new iMac for free with the upgrade voucher.
When I went in the Mac App Store to install Lion on my MacBook the purchase icon didn't give a price, it just said "install", so it was free to upgrade my MacBook to Lion.  However, when I look at the iLife '11 apps, they all show a price of $14.99.  Should I be entitled to upgrade my MacBook to iLife '11 for free because I bought a new iMac?  Will I be charged if I install the apps on my MacBook?
    Thanks,
    NM

You say you are running Lion.
All the new apps, iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, all require Mavericks to be installed first.
So, download and install Mavericks for free on both computers if you haven't already, and then proceed below.
    On your new iMac.
Sign in to the Mac App store with your Apple ID.
Do you see your purchases there?
If so, then sign into the Mac App Store on your Macbook with the same Apple ID.
The purchases should be identical to your iMac or any other computer that you log into the Mac App Store using the exact same Apple ID.
If you have several Apple ID's, then the purchases will most likely be different.
Only use the same Apple ID when logging in from any device.
Let us know what you find.

  • Can i update to mountain lion for free

can i update to mountain lion for free? when can i update it? Very hopeful to have a experiment.

Given that you already have a Mac and the new cat is not likely to come out in awhile yet, the answer will be NO. Only cases I've seen Apple give the OS for free as an upgrade is when you buy a new Mac a week or so before the official cat unleashing. Or if you buy a new Mac after the new cat is out and you get inadvertently given one with the previous release.

  • I recently (4 days ago) bought a Mac mini server with 10.7 lion; will I qualify for a free upgrade to Mountain Lion Server?

How has Apple honoured buyers of other releases of OS X immediately before a new version was announced?
