Quality Issues when exporting to itunes

I'm a new user to garageband and have been learning quite a lot about it and how to work with it.
My band recorded some songs tonight on garageband. I have a basic mixer hooked into the line in port of my macbook pro. When I tried to export it to itunes, the completed song, the quality from gb3 to itunes was horrible. In gb, it sounded really good, yet when it played back in itunes, it was of quite low quality. I'm curious if there are any preferences or advance options I missed when exporting from GB into itunes.
Thanks in advance.

Hey thanks for everyone's help. I played with the input volume, track volume and master track volume and the songs sound fine (well, still a bit overmodulated, but nothing I can do, it was recorded live).
The songs tend to sound better when I export them from itunes under WAV settings. The sound is tons better.

Set up the Preflight panel so it checks image resolution. Ask your printer what the appropriate resolution is for your printing process, and set that in Preflight.

Hi there! So I am using Lightroom 3 on a pc and I have ran into an issue when exporting images. The DPI and image size (in inches) that I am selecting during the export process. For example I just exported a collection and set the dpi to 180 and the size to 7 inches on the long edge. My exported result is 457 dpi and sized at 3200x2134 pixels.. Any ideas on why this is happening and what I can do to correct it?

The DPI setting in a digital image has no meaning at all. You need to learn how to calculate what you need in your exported image. The only measurement in a digital image that has any meaning is the number of pixels in each direction. It doesn't matter what you set that DPI to (actually it's PPI or pixels per inch). The image will have the same number of pixels regardless of the setting. If you need an image that is 5 x 7" (for example) at 200 PPI then you would want an image that measured:
    5 x 200 = 1000 pixels
    7 x 200 = 1400 pixels
So you would need an image that is 1000 x 1400 pixels to have a 5 x 7" image at 200 PPI. The reason your exported image had such a high PPI setting is because you specified the number of inches you wanted the image to be. And there were enough pixels in the image that it calculated out to be that high PPI setting.
I apologize, I don't explain this very well. But you need to learn to do the math to determine how large you really want your exported images to be.

Delete the content that is filling it up. Text messages, iMessages, SMS, emails, Safari Cache; essentially all data for all of the built in apps.

  • Alignement issue when exporting to PDF

    Hello,
I'm having some alignment issues when exporting an InDesign file to PDF.
I have a couple of square pictures, touching eachother at the edges. These are aligned bang on in InDesign (the lines overlap), but when exporting to a PDF and viewing in there, it seems that some seem to jump up slightly.
Is this just a display issue or a setting issue when exporting to PDF?
    Thanks
    Benny

The detail is cropped too tight for me to tell how many photos are intersecting there. Is there a vertical intersection as well? If not, I think you're looking at a very slightly non-rectangular frame, if there is, then you might still be looking at a non-rectangular frame, or the frames are not perfectly aligned, which doesn't surprise me if you snapped to a guide -- I find that less than 100% reliable since CS6.
Presuming that you've zoomed in to show us the problem, that's probably a single pixel misalignment and you'd be very hard pressed to see it in printed output without a loupe.
You can check the bottom edge of the top photo, and the top edge of the bottom photo(s) for being out of horizontal by using the direct select tool to select the corner points and seeing if the y-coordinate is the same on both sides of the frame.
My printer tell me to always overlap frames, rather than butting them, for trapping, for what that's worth, but I don't always do what he says, and I've never had a problem.

  • SSRS 2012 Conditional Formatting Color Issues When Exporting to Excel

    Hi all,
We recently upgraded to SQL 2012 from SQL2008 R2. I'm having a strange issue with SSRS2012.
One of the report has conditional formattings on cell background colors. Everything works fine when render the report in browser or preview mode. However, the conditional formatting stop working when export the report to Excel (no issues if
export to pdf). All cells are high-lightened with pre-defined color although it should only high-lighten those cells that fulfil the condition.
Has someone encountered this issue before ? Thanks for any help.

    Hi ZZ02,
I have test the scenario in my testing environment, however, everything goes well when exporting to Excel format. The issue might be related to the expression for the conditional background color. To make further analysis, please post the expression as well
    as the report design structure.
Additionally, in SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services, the Excel rendering extension renders a report to the native format of Microsoft Excel 2007-2010, the format of which is ExcelOpenXML. By default, the previous version of the Excel rendering extension,
compatible with Microsoft Excel 2003, is disabled. At this time, I suggest that you enable the Excel 2003 rendering extension by modifying the RSReportServer.config file. After that, the Excel 2003 rendering format will be available on report manager (not
available in Report Designer). So, please export the report from report manager and check the result again.
For more information about enable the Excel 2003 rendering extension, please see:

    Hello,
I have an issue when I try to export to a csv file a report having numeric feild, when I export and open the file in notepad the trailing zeros to the right of decimal points do not show up. When export to another formats (such as excel, pdf) the trailing zeros appears correctly. e..g, 100.00 appears as 100, 100.50 appears as 100.5.
Do you know what can be done in order to have trailing zeros to the right of decimal points to appear in a csv?

  • Strange quality issues when saving for web and devices.

Im a UI designer and spend lots of time working with illustrator and photohop. When I design I normally create vector mockps of my work and then export slices using artboards and save for web and devices. Yesterday Illustrator started having problems exporting files. The files look good on my computer, when viewed with pixel preview mode but when i export they look really bad. here is an example:
This is a screen shot of a part of a mobile app im working on at 100 % and 200 %
here is the same area when exported using "save for web and devices" at 100% and 200%:
as you can see there is a dramatic loss in quality. the icons look almost like a low color gif...
Here is what I have tried already:
I have tried changing the settings in the exporter. I normally use png 24 but I have tried all the different settings and they all do about the same thing. the only one that seems to look ok are swf and svg.
I have copied my files over to photoshop and exported from there. that works fine but it is a pain.
    any help would be great.

  • Itunes Scrolling Issue when connected to itunes-share

thanks in advance for an advice
    Itunes 11.0.3

I also have a new MB Pro running OS X 10.9.5 and a new iPhone 6.  My iPhone connects to iTunes, but hangs at step 6 in the sync process -- copying apps to the iPhone.  I let it run all night last night and it never got beyond the second app.  This morning I upgraded to iOS 8.0.2 and have the same problem.  Now I am stuck at the third app.

  • Tracks not lining up when exporting to Itunes

    Hello!
I put together a multi-track song, mostly software instruments. Finally, I added a live vocal track. Sounds find on GB, but when I export to Itunes, the vocal track is delayed...How do I fix it?!
    Thanks for anyone's help!!

hahahaha this kat's got 9 lives dudes :P
I just finished writing an exam, so that's why i haven't been responding.
    ANYWAY.
So the effects I used: I think I had a flanger on one of the guitars, and on the vocal i'm not quite sure, i doubled my choruses and used "ambient" or whatever, but I forget what I used on the original one.
I've been trying to fix this for about a month now.
    Thanks for ALL your help!

  • Why does my photo slideshow quality deteriorate when exported to iDVD?

I have a client whose photos look great in iPhoto & iMovie, but look all pixelated when exported to iDVD. I've tried making a slideshow directly with iDVD, but the photos still look worse than they did in the iPhoto slideshow.
The size of the photos is pretty large (as big as 5233 x 3546), which I'm guessing might be part of the problem, so I tried exporting them from iPhoto with a limitation of 720 x 540, but they still look bad. I expect a decrease in quality once I burn the DVD, but these look bad even in the DVD preview.
    Any ideas?

All DVD slideshows are defaulted to 640 x 480 pixels. That's the standard. As long as the photos are in the 4:3 dimension ratio you can leave them at their fullest size. You can try using the Pro Quailty encoding to get better quality images. IMO the best image quality is obtained by creating the slideshow in iDVD from still photos. You don't get the Ken Burns effect, but in my opinion it's a bit over used too many time.
If you are creating your slideshow in iMovie then try the following.
1 - when your slideshow is how you want it quit iMovie.
2 - open iDVD, create a slideshow and open the slideshow edit mode.
3 - drag the iMovie project file into the slideshow pane on the left. (NOTE: this lets iDVD scale the movie file to the TV safe area when played on CRT TV sets.)
This also lets iDVD do the encoding for the iMovie assets and avoids two compressions, one by iMovie when you export to iDVD and the iDVD encoding.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Quality loss when exporting to quicktime (no conversion)

i'm trying to export a fully rendered project in final cut pro (6.0.2).
i'm using the option i always used:
"export -> quicktime movie..." (not "using quicktime conversion")
the idea was to convert the movie later to h.264 (using the quicktime pro player).
normally this always gave me a quicktime movie with ± the same quality as when played directly in final cut.
no difference whether exporting as self-contained movie or referenced movie (besides the result file size of course).
only, now it's different, see here (quicktime player left, final cut right):
the text (done using LiveType) is displayed in completely unusable quality. (difference in color etc. doesn't bother me right now)
where does that come from? in final cut i don't see this rendered quality anywhere...
    i also tried:
deleting the render cache, rendering the project again, no difference
export -> quicktime movie, "self-contained" or referenced movie, no difference in quality.
i didn't have this problem with the same project some months ago. back then i probably wasn't running 10.4.11 and quicktime 7.4.1.
    any idea what to try?

    There is no quality lost.
The default of QuickTime player when showing DV is to display 1 field and double height the image. This is to avoid interlace combing on the non-interlaced computer display.
IF you type cmd-j and bring up the info for your clip, thusly:
In the lower right corner you'll notice the High Quality flag:
Setting it will take you from this:
    to this:
Alternatively, you can go into the QuickTime Player preferences and set the default there:
    Make sense?

  • My recordings sound so different when exported to iTunes. What am I doing wrong?

Google's been useless in finding answers.
I made a couple songs. They sound perfect on Garageband. After exporting, the songs sound awfully mixed on iTunes. I mean, awful. I've tried messing with iTunes EQ, Garageband visual EQ, Garageband compression (not that I fully understand compression), the auto compression when exporting, and good ol fashioned volume control. Nothing changes for the better but it always sounds correct on Garageband and god awful otherwise.
I have a chord that plugs in from my mac to my instruments so I use good mix of both real instruments and software instruments if that makes any difference.
On a side note, the recordings only sound good on my personal headphones. Heaven forbid I use a car stereo or any sort of speakers.
If anything, what can I do to remedy this problem?
Many thanks for any help you can give.

There is a fix coming out soon for this. In the mean time go to settings and put the date forward one year. then try. once you have access then put the date back.
    hope it helps

  • Drum drops out when Export to iTunes

hi, im using DFH2 in garageband and ive got 4 guitar tracks with eq and pynamics processors on them as well as the drums, everytime i try and use export to itunes and try to listen to the final audio file in itunes im getting alot of dropouts on the drum tracks, does anyone know why this would be occuring and how i can stop it?
    thanks

I just experienced the same problem this very momemt but with some variation.
I exported 10 songs from GB to iTunes (as mixes), 8 of the songs played perfectly in iTunes but on one of the songs the drums were barely audible even though they were at the right levels during mixdown. Stranger yet: The other song had ALL the tracks completely silent EXCEPT for the drums I always mix with 100% LOCKED tracks so I'm stumped as why this happened. Fortunately all was well when I imported those two songs again. Both songs only contained about 8 tracks each. The other thing that concerns me is that the arrow often appears red during importing but I've never had dropouts before. I don't recall what the color was during the importing of the two "error songs" but all the tracks were locked and there were very few tracks. I thought locking all tracks was the silver bullet in preventing errors. This is kind of daunting because pretty soon I am going to be importing about 100 individual tracks to iTunes which will be burned as audio files and dumped to Pro tools. It would be very difficult to listen to EVERY track for errors but perhaps this won't happen with individual tracks. Besides locking tracks I know the other tips to saving CPU power and such but these songs had so few tracks and uncomplicated data in the instrumentation. It seems very odd.
    Sorry for the long post!
