Quality of black text printing with 7960

My 7960 does not print black.  It has a blue tint to it.  Ink cartridge has been changed

Hi -  A couple of things you might try - First, in the printer driver, select "Print in grayscale" in the Color tab.  This should force it to utilize the black cartridge only, assuming there is no color on the page.  You might also try running the Clean Cartridge Test, just to make sure there aren't problems with any of the cartridges (even though they've been replaced).
BTW - Which cartridge did you replace?  It sounds like the printer is trying to print a composite black using the color cartridge.
1  Make sure plain paper is loaded in the In Tray. For the Photosmart 245, the paper should be loaded face up.
2  Press the Menu button.
3  Press the Down Arrow until the Tools is highlighted.
4  Press the OK button.
5  Press the Down Arrow until Clean Cartridges is highlighted.
6  Press OK .
7  Press OK again to print a level one clean cartridge test.
8  Once the level one clean cartridge test page has printed, examine the printed page. If the print is not clear and/or there are lines in the color bars, continue to Step 9. If the print quality is acceptable and there are no flaws with the color bar, press the Down Arrow once then press OK .
9  Press OK to print the second level clean cartridge page. Yes is selected by default
10  Once the second level clean cartridges test page has printed, examine the printed page. If the print is not clear and/or there are lines in the color bars, continue to Step 11. If the print quality is acceptable and there are no flaws with the color bar, press the Down Arrow once then press OK .
11  Yes is selected by default, press OK to print the third level clean cartridge page.
12  Once the third level clean cartridges test page has printed examine the page. The printer will not ask you to print another clean cartridge test page. If the problem persists contact HP Support.
Hope that helps.

  • Black text prints with screen in non PS digital printer

I'm trying to find a way to print a color CS3 document to our Panasonic DP-C264 so that the black text prints solid black with no screening. It works if I use the PS driver, but some of the finishing options we need aren't available in that driver. The only other way I've found to get solid black text is to output in grayscale, but obviously that's not acceptable for a color job! So far I've tried making sure the transparency flattening is set to high, set the text attributes to "overprint fill," set text to print black in the print dialog box... but no joy; I always get screened black text.
Ultimately we want to offer a solution for customers who are creating documents in InDesign (CS through CS3) and creating PDFs for us to print for them. So if there is a way to get the text to go solid black in the PDF process, that would be great to know also.
    Ideas??

I will check on that when I print from PDF -- I'm starting out by printing directly from InDesign first though. I figure it it doesn't work from the original application there's not much point in going to PDF...!! Thanks for the idea though; I wasn't aware of the Print As Image option.
    Cheers,
    Linda

  • Black text prints white

I finally purchased a copy of iWork '08 and merrily created about 80 slides only when I went to print them out I discovered that the image of the text was in most places white. If the text was in a box it printed and some of the grey text printed along with all text I have set up to fade in or out as the presentation progresses. The details:
The black text appears in preview but appears white due to the colored background.
    Changing fonts does not help.
All other programs print fine. I am printing on a Canon MP830, the text does show up on my Laser.
If I export it to a .pdf the problem follows, even though the text appears on the screen and in preview.
If I change the color of my text from black to red, or blue it prints fine, shades of grey do not.
If I export the file to power point and print it from an old version I have in a "Classic" partition running OS 10.4 it prints but when I installed iWork in this partition I get the same result.
The printer, my software, and iWork has the latest updates installed.
This is obviously (well maybe not so obviously since it could be a virus no one has caught up with yet) a huge bug in iWork and how it handles black text (I don't know about graphics because there are not black graphics in my slides). I spent several hours reading through the "Discussions" and there are quite a few instances where black text comes out white, blank sheets print out, conversions to .pdf come out with no text ect.
Does any one know of a work around for this? My only option currently is to fix this or return iWork and go back to Micorsoft with my tail between my legs and purchase Office.

Presets is set to "Standard" I never changed it. If I select the drop down window there is a choice for "last used settings" and a "Save As".
I did manage to get my slides printed by saving the file as a Power Point, opening it in a old Office 2001 version of Power Point I have in a "Classic" partition. After a little reformatting they printed perfectly on the same printer. Its kind of sad to have a 8 year old Microsoft program out-perform the latest program from Apple. Of course I will say that using Keynote was enjoyable, but if you can't reliably Print and Export the program is useless no matter how many useful features it comes with.

  • Text printed with a screen.

I laid out and designed my book, which has an all black & white interior, in Adobe InDesign.  I submitted a PDF file to CreateSpace to print.  I received a Proof copy of the book.  All of the text in the first chapter was printed with what appears to be a screen (tiny white dots over the black text). All of the other 380 pages in the book are correctly printed.
I notified CreateSpace and the response was:
“The team has confirmed that when reviewing the Interior file that was submitted to us, and the file that is used in Print, the pages with text containing white dots, is actually text with RGB color values. These values are lower than 100% black, and are printing as gray.”
I can see no difference in the swatch settings for the text in the first (screened) chapter of the book and the other chapters which were printed correctly.  Is there anything I can do to insure that this problem does not happen when the book is printed?
Here's an example of the screened printing from a page of the Proof copy:

I would suggest to run a preflight to make sure no RGB is found in the chapter. When exporting to pdf which settings are used? On the web you can find the correct settings for black/white pdfs.
Convert the first chapter to cmyk is another option, but check afterwards that all colours are "zero" and black is "100%".

  • Stop it from using photo black ink for black text printing and where has the color ink gone?

My HP Photosmart Prem C310 series all in one is using the Black Photo ink cartridge for text printing instead of the XL Black that I put in it for text printing. How can I get it to use the right cartridge for printing? Also, even though I have NOT printed ANY photo's and very few pages of text the new set of color cartridges I put in it a few months ago are almost empty. Why? How could they be almost empty when I have NOT printed anything in color? This is getting ridiculous replacing ink cartridges every few months WHEN I HAVE NOT BEEN PRINTING ANYTHING!!!
The set of ink cartridges that came with it lasted for several months. Since then I've gone through two sets in less than a year. That's 3 sets of ink cartridges when I have only printed 3 photo's when I first set it up. And have only used les than a 1/4 of one package of printing paper. I've only put paper in it twice. Each time it was about a 1/4 inch or 3/8 of an inch thick stack of paper in the tray. I've even tried shutting the printer down when its not being used for a long period of time but the ink is still disapearing. Where is it going? Why is it going there? How do I stop it? This is rediculous. I may as well junk the thing even though it still works because I cant aford to keep feeding it ink when its just sitting there doing nothing most of the time.
    Thank you

I just got another email from HP about this problem wanting to know what I found for a solution to this problem. From all of the suggestions from the HP tec support all of them pretty much kept saying the same thing. That it is my fault that it's using so much ink because I have it on the wrong settings. One tec did slip and say that it doesn't matter what settings you have it on it will always use the Photo Black cartridge for printing plain black text and it doesn't matter if you have a X-Large Black cartridge in it for text printing because it was made to always use the Photo Black for text and even use some of the colors to blend with the black to make it stand out. Why anybody would need this when just printing shipping labels and things like that I don't know.
Any who, The only solution for this problem is,,,, junk the printer and get a different brand & model of printer. Research it before buying to find out how much ink it wants to waste and if it will still print black text if it only has a black cartridge in it. I was going to get rid of mine by giving it to a friend since they don't have a printer. But since I want to keep him as a friend I decided not to give it to him. Since it cant be traded in for a different one even though it still works, Its going to the target shooting range the next time I go out shooting. Maybe I'll take a few video's clips of it getting blasted to pieces with a Ruger 10-22 .22 cal. rifle with 25 shot clips, a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle shooting .223 cal with a 30 shot clip, a Chinese SKS 7.62 with a 30 shot clip. And maybe use my Ruger P89 9mm pistol and put a couple 15 round clips of 9mm in it. If there's anything left I'll finish it off with a few 3" magnum loads of #2 steel shot with my 20 gauge shotgun.  Then I think I'll do the same thing to my Westinghouse 46" flat screen HDTV that just died.
Then maybe I'll come back and post the video's of my "solution to this printers problem". It may not fix the problem, but it will be an entertaining way of getting rid of the problem.

  • White fonts on black background printing with zebra printer

    Hello,
I've created a label in Adobe forms, which should be printed with a ZEBRA 220XiIII plus.In the label there is a text that should be printed in white fonts on a black background. The problem is that when I print the label, the white text is not printed, I have only a black background. The print preview is ok, and if I print the label on a laser printer it is ok too.
    Does someone have any idea?

  • Why does black/white print with magenta hue?

When I print black/white greyscale in Adobe Reader or Acrobat, some documents print with ghost text that appears in a light magenta.  This ghost text is staggered to the bottom right of the black text.
I'm printing from Mac OS X 10.8.4, Adobe Reader 11.0.03 using an HP LaserJet 1525nw.
The left side of the image is a screen capture from the PDF and printed.  The right side printed directly from the PDF.
    Any ideas why this happens?

Sorry - I was able to find out how to do color calibrate.  It is supposed to print a page but never did.  I tried it twice.  Not sure if it actually did anything.  But results are the same with printing.
The printer is very low on the three color cartridges, which I don't use.  It is at normal capacity on black.  Even though I'm selecting to print only black/white in Reader, could the low status on the color cartridges be causes this pink hue?
I did try a pure PDF document (one that isn't a scanned print page).  It printed without issue.  As I mentioned above, there is something about a scanned in printed page, which causes this pink hue issue.

  • Canon Pixma MX922 black ink prints with streaks

My new MX922 is now printing with streaks.  Just the black ink.  The ink cartridge was replaced to be sure there was plenty of ink, but before it was even replaced the print came out streaked.  In other words, parts of letters print and other parts do  not; parts of sentences print and other parts do not.  What do I need to do?

    Hello kategreat.
Please check to make sure that the bright orange tape was removed from the top of each tank.  If the tape is left on the tanks, ink may not flow properly.

  • Adobe reader 11 printing black text as green

I have checked accessability and the replace document colors is not checked.  For a time after I downloaded reader 11 black text printed black but today it has reverted to green.
I have also tried two other actions.  First, copied PDF document to clipboard and pasted in Word document.  Word document printed as green text.  Second, set printer to print as image.  Also printed as green text. This happens with a variety of documents from a variety of sources.  It appears the problem is with the download of the file as the attributes seem to be set in the file.  All documents appear as black text on the laptop monitor.

Could be a number of things. I had a terrible time printing a converted web page because the unicode for the text pulled a style from the web page and instructed Reader to print the text in white, even though it showed in the document as black.
What is the original source of the document?

  • Color LaserJet CP1518ni blue print with red shadows, help !

Blue text prints with a red shadow on the right side of the page only.  There is no magenta in the blue.  All other colors print fine.  I have tried a new magenta cartridge and it was the same.  All cartridges are OEM.  I updated the firmware and it did not help.  Calibrted and cleaned many times.  Any ideas?

  • Is there a setting to make a PDF print with no background and black text?

I made a nice booklet that has colorful blocks in the background and sometimes white text and sometimes black text. We are not going to print it, it is just going to be a PDF on our website. Can I set it up so that it always prints without the backgrounds and makes all the text black?
I just don't want people to have to print huge fields of colr if they end up printing this out on a little ink jet with expensive and finicky cartridges...
    BT

There are is no as such specified setting for customer or reader printer, because it depends on the printer setting of customer. However, you can mentioned that, if any one want to print book as black text, follow this setting http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/print-black-white-acrobat-reader.html

  • PDFs printing with black background and white text.

For some reason some of our PDF's have been printing with black backgrounds and white text, even though they appear to be normal on the screen before they are printed. I haven't been able to confirm 100% yet but it appears to only be happening with pdfs that were created from scanned documents.
Can somebody please offer me some suggestions.

Absolutely agree with the original poster.  I find white text on black background so very very difficult (I changed from using Tweetbot on iOS to Tweetlogix for this very reason) and it physically hurts my eyes to try to read it.  I can just about manage with Spotify using white text on a black background on the large screen of my MacBook Pro - and I do mean "just" - but for the smaller screen of my iPhone 5 it is just impossible.  Even with a retina screen such as that on the iPhone 5S there is a strange ghosting effect and it gives me a headache to look at it for too long.
This may be something to do with age!  I suspect most app developers are youngsters with almost perfect eyesight, but for those of us whose eyesight is less than perfect, this white text on black background really is so very difficult.
I know there is a workaround in setting the iPhone to invert ALL colours (under Accessibility in Settings) but it's a real pain to have to keep altering this setting every time I want to open or close Spotify, and it doesn't look right anyway.  iOS7 is supposed to be a light, bright, easy to read OS - sadly this new Spotify app is the opposite of that.
Please would Spotify consider adding a simple light or dark theme option, so that those of us who want it can have our much easier to read light background back again, with grey or black text?  It would be a great help to those of us who have eyesight problems.
If not, I may have to cancel my Spotify Premium account and move to Deezer instead, as I mainly use Spotify when out and about in the car, so am using the iOS app a lot.
Thank you for considering this plea!

  • Text not printing with Black Ink on Canon i560

I've been having a pretty annoying problem with my Canon i560: When printing black text, instead of using the black ink, the printer mixes black from the color inks. This has been a problem for a little while but recently, the colors got a little offset so it became really obvious.
Also, I just received an update for the Canon printer drivers and according to the Apple page, the Canon i560 is supported and the drivers are actually updated.
I'm pretty sure that it's a driver problem because I can print from a Windows virtual machine to the exactly same printer all other variables remaining the same - and guess what: When printing from Windows, black is black, colors are colors, as one would expect with this kind of printer.
So, does anyone have an idea how I can make my make send the right signals to my Canon i560?

Ah, sorry, I missed that when reading your reply. Probably should have re-read it. However, I have just made a test-print from TextEdit with the "Grayscale Printing" checkbox enabled - and I'm still getting precisely the same ugly, greenish result.
Then it is not working as it should be and it is either the driver or the core printing system. To check both there is alternate driver available called Gutenprint. With this driver suite installed you can create another printer queue on the Mac, this time selecting the Gutenprint i560 driver. When you then print and have the i560 Gutenprint driver selected, change to the Printer Features menu and then select the General tab in Feature Sets submenu and then set the Color Model to Grayscale. Does this work correctly?
And with the Canon driver, if you want to repair the colour offset, you can go to Print & Scan, select the i560 using the Canon driver and then open Options & Supplies. Then select the Utilities tab and click on Open Printer Utility. This will open the Canon IJ Printer Utility. From here you can select the Test Print menu and then Print Head alignment.

  • Printing with BufferedImage and Text Quality

I am using PrinterJob to print text/graphics.
In my paint method, if we paint directly on the graphics handle using Graphics2D methods, the text quality is very good.
Our application has to manage a lot of data, and to handle the callabcks for the same page, we are painting to a BufferedImage, and then drawing the BufferedImage unto the graphics handle on the subsequent calls. The overhead to draw the page is significant, and this give us much better performance.
The PROBLEM IS, the quality of the text using the bufferedImage is like draft quality test, not the high resolution text we get when we paint directly on the supplied handle using the native drawing emthods every time.
Any idea how we can buffer the page image, and retain the text quality ?
    In the paint we do:
    m_Image = ((Graphics2D)pg).getDeviceConfiguration().createCompatibleImage(m_wPage,m_hPage);
    m_Graphics = (Graphics2D) m_Image.getGraphics();

Culd u share the fix if u found one
