Quality of charts?
Is it me, or has the image quality of 3D charts in Pages (I must check out Keynote) taken a step backward with the latest update?
It's not something that I use a lot, but I remember being impressed only a couple of weeks ago when I did have a play around making some charts, just to see what the capabilities were.
Now the text, in particular, is very blurred. I'm just not getting the same wow-factor I had before. Am I just jaded?
Hi masavran,
For this issue, it's related to the render environment (browser/application). On Reporting Services side, we don't have any properties to change the resolution for chart to make it smoothly. We suggest you post this thread on Visual Studio forum
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/home?forum=visualstudiogeneral&filter=alltypes&sort=lastpostdesc
Or the forum of corresponding browser.

When creating a chart and applying fonts style, I noticed that the quality of the image returned by the IGS is really poor. All the fonts are "blurry" and are not as nice as in the tables.
We applied all the related notes and all used fonts are installed on IGS server and still not better.
Any idea how to get a better image of the charts?
Thanks! That's the not we applied when the "problem" started.
At first, no fonts were specified, so it was alwayes the same font that was showing (no bold, no italic, nothing).
Then, we applied this patch 596825 and the formatting started to appear, but, it is now blurry. Just to give you an idea, it's like saving an image as a GIF file in an image software instead of a JPG. Is there any way to change the quality settings of the chart image that we receive from the IGS?
Like: by default, the IGS creates a GIF but that can be changed somehow for a JPG image.
Thanks! -
hi folks,
Anyone knows how to get better quality for charts graphics?
I hurt that we should change something in BiBeans !!
Thank you or your help!Use the EXPORT PODCAST TO DISK... option, then UNCHECK the option to set artwork to recommended size for podcasts. This should retain your images' original size within the file.

Inspection lot number ranges skipping
My inspection lot number ranges are skipping, those are std number ranges like 01 origin, 04 origin etc, what could be the reason for that.
Inspn lots are getting generated and I took UD also. But certain numbers in the range got skipped.
Eg:- Incoming inspn lot 010000000041 then it comes 010000000045
Lot numbers 01/42, 01/43, 01/44 does not exist in sytem.
Please suggest a way out
Thanks

Edited by: vineeth varghese on Jul 18, 2008 11:31 AMCraig,
But expert suggestion says, not to switch off buffer thru SNRO as it may affect fuctionality as you said early in this discussion.
But I believe, this is to be relooked by SAP as number range skipping is not good (My case its skipping 5-7 numbers at a time). But I am not convinced with the reply from SAP also.
Anyway thanks to you craig for your advice.
SAP Note on this matter for reference of all. Thanks

Summary
Symptom
Gaps (jumps) occur when allocating internal numbers.
The status of the number range interval does not match the number that was last assigned.
The number assignment does not reflect the insert sequence.
IMPORTANT: Read Notes 504875 and 678501.

Reason and Prerequisites
A large number of number range objects are buffered. When the system buffers a number range object, it does not update numbers individually in the database but reserves a preset group of numbers (depending on the number range object) in the database the first time a number is requested, and makes these numbers available to the application server in question. The following numbers can then be taken directly from the application server buffer. New numbers are not used in the database until the application server buffer has been used up.
The effects described under "Symptom" are a direct consequence of this:
If an application server is shut down, the numbers that are left in the buffer (that is, that are not yet assigned) are lost. As a result, there are gaps in the number assignment.
The status of the number range interval reflects the next free number that has not yet been transferred to an application server for intermediate buffering. The current number level therefore does not display the number of the "next" object.
The current number level (for each server) can be displayed using Transaction SM56. Call transaction SM56 and choose the menu 'Goto' -> 'Entries'. In the dialog box, enter the client, the affected number range object (for example, RK_BELEG) and possibly the required subobject (corresponds to the controlling area for the object RK_BELEG).
If you use several application servers, the numerical sequence will not reflect the (chronological) insert sequence because the numbers are buffered separately on the individual hosts.
Buffering the number range objects has a positive effect on performance, because the system no longer has to access the database (number range table NRIV) for each posting. Furthermore, a serialization of this table (database locking) is prevented to a large extent so that posting procedures can be carried out in parallel.
Solution
Since number range buffering does not cause any expressly assured qualities to be lost, no correction is required.
If you still require continuous allocation, you can deactivate the number range buffering specifically for individual objects.
Proceed as follows:
- Start Transaction SNRO and enter the affected object.
- Choose 'Change'.
- Deactivate buffering: Choose 'Edit' -> 'Set Up Buffering' -> 'No Buffering'.
- If you want to change the buffer size only, enter the corresponding value in the field 'No. of numbers in buffer'.
- Save the changes.
Please note that this change is a modification. The modification is overwritten as soon as the affected number range object is redelivered - in other words, you must check the change manually each time you import a release.
In particular, read Note 678501, bearing in mind that changing the buffering type - if not explicitly recommended by SAP - constitutes a modification. For other possible solutions, refer to the following notes:
179224, 599157 and 840901.
For the the following number range objects, gaps may cause users to have doubts since they are 'expecting' a sequential numbering:
Area CO:
- RK_BELEG (CO Document)
CAUTION: Note that the problems described in Notes 20965 and 29030 may occur if you deactivate buffering.
- COPA_IST (Document number in actual posting)
- COPA_PLAN (Document number in planned posting)
- COPA_OBJ (Profitability segment number)
Area FI:
- DEBITOR (Customer master data)
- KREDITOR (Vendor master data)
Area HR:
- RP_REINR (Trip numbers)
Area PM, PP, PS
- AUFTRAG (Order number, production, process, maintenance order, network number)
- QMEL_NR (Number range - message)
Area MM:
- MATBELEG (Material documents)
- MATERIALNR (Material master)
Area QM:
- QLOSE (Inspection lots in QM)
- QMEL_NR (Number range - message)
- QMERK (Confirmation number)
- QMERKMALE (Master inspection characteristics in QSS)
- QMERKRUECK (Confirmation number of an inspection characteristic in QM results processing)
- QMETHODEN (Inspection methods in QM)
- ROUTING_Q (Number ranges for inspection plans)
- QCONTROLCH (Quality control chart)
Area Workflow:
- EDIDOC (IDocs)
Number range buffering can be activated or deactivated at any time.
Number range objects that have to be continuous due to legal specifications (for example, RF_BELEG, RV_BELEG), or due to a corresponding application logic must not be buffered using the buffering type 'Main memory buffering'. See also Notes 37844 (for RF_BELEG) and 23835 (for RV_BELEG).

Internal Number Assignment for Object QMERKRUECK
Hi Gurus,
When I clicked on SMPL( sample calculation) in the Sample tab of the Inspection plan (QA02) I got the below Information error " Internal Number Assignment for Object QMERKRUECK (Numbers are in critical area).
Though we have enough number range why this Information error is coming? Couold you please explain the cause and how to avoid it?
Thanks in advance,
ShashidharHi Shashidar,
Actually its gap
Reason: some times number ranges overlap or missing from the buffer data base system will happen very rarely.
in our QM module, below objects error chances may happen
- QLOSE (Inspection lots in QM)
- QMEL_NR (Number range - message)
- QMERK (Confirmation number)
- QMERKMALE (Master inspection characteristics in QSS)
- QMERKRUECK (Confirmation number of an inspection characteristic in QM results processing)
- QMETHODEN (Inspection methods in QM)
- ROUTING_Q (Number ranges for inspection plans)
- QCONTROLCH (Quality control chart)
Read Notes 504875 and 678501.
Thanks

Dear all,
I would like to know capability of SAP QM module for statistical quality control tools. Will it support six sigma tools?
By the way I m newbie in SAP.
Regards
Parag Kulkarni
HaridwarHi,
The term statistical quality control (SQC) is often used interchangeably with statistical process control (SPC). SPC is the application of statistical techniques to control a process. SAP ERP supports Six Sigma approaches for analyzing measured values and non-conformance data, e.g., various quality control charts, Western Electric rules, capability indicators (cp, cpk), Pareto analysis, trend analysis, and exception analysis. It provides an interface (QM-STI) to external tools for statistical analysis, for example, if you need verification of a distribution or significance tests.
In addition, SAP xApp for Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence (SAP xMII) can be used as a front-end to visualize quality data from SAP ERP and execute statistical process control.

I am sorting out my Music and vod collection onto an External FireWire HD and wonder what is the optimal Artwork format?
First would be whether to use JPG, PNG, GIF or Photoshop for the 3 possible uses: iPod Video, iTunes on my iMac and ultimately Apple TV.
Second is what size should I standardise on? I haven't any iTunes samples to check against so experimented with 128x128, 256x256 pixels for use in iTunes.
The 128x128 is too illegible for anything with text on it and the 256x256 is just getting there but obviously the size is rapidly increasing. Especially when multiplied over 20 times for each track on an Album. Pity Apple hasn't worked out how to add it just once per album.
That is probably still too small for Apple TV.
What are your thoughts? Is there a way to get closer to two hours of video? I just hate having to waste so many blank dvds
You have to pay the price in terms of lost quality.

Any FM to calculate Standard Deviation .. ?
Hi All,
My requirement is to calculate the standard deviation for the work hours in a task list. Please let me know if there is any FM available to achieve this.
Cheers
NishanthHi,
Check out using these two FM to calculate the standard deviation which is used for the track of a quality control chart, if you want to use the standard deviation as a control value for a quantitative characteristic in order to detect the dispersion changes for a characteristic. The second one uses the multiplicative factor for the chi-square distribution required for the calculation of the control limits is estimated on the basis of the total dispersion of all original values.

Is this chart possible (two dimensional plus colour quality chart)
Hello,
I've used Crystal Report a few years ago. I've got a new project, and I know Crystal Reports will work for 80% of it. However, there's one chart i'm not sure about. I've browsed the Business Objects product and technical info, couldn't find a list of chart types. I also talked with Sales, they directed me to this forum.
Essentially, I need to create a quality chart. The product is a like a sheet of paper. Green shows good quality. Defects need to be colours (e.g. red, yellow, blue). Furthermore, it needs to be different shades, ideally, if I can specify RGB. This is a simplistic example:
[Example Sheet Quality Chart|http://flickcabin.com/public/view/full/14555]
My data will be thousands of x,y,colours.
1. Is this possible in Crystal Reports, and if so, what degrees of control would I have?
2. What degree of control would I have with the colour, can I specify RGB?
3. Am I better off having my application create the bitmap (I have written .NET GDI routines before)?
4. Is there a way to insert a custom bitmap (or reference a file on the hard drive) into my report?
Much appreciated.
Thanks,
PeterHi Peter

IGS / WAD Charts: blurred fonts, sharp edges and lower quality images
BW Version: 3.5
The WAD´s charts has the poor visualization with blurred fonts, sharp edges graphics and lower quality images.
Any way to change it on IGS?
tnksHi
Please check these two notes

Poor chart quality when exported to Excel
Hi,
Whenever we export a chart to excel, the quality of the chart becomes very poor (blurred image and font).
The images look crisp when viewing from report manager and the designer.
Has anyone encountered and solved the same problem?
ThanksAs an update, I made a comparison exporting to excel from the following 3rd party add-ins: Dundas and ChartFx but the charts came out much worse quality-wise when exported to Excel.
Is this a Reporting Service limitation or is there any setting that needs to be set?
Thanks -
Visio 2013 Org Chart Changing Picture Quality
Hi,
I'm trying to make an org chart with a lot of employees. I can generate the chart with the wizard, but if I add pictures, Visio tends to crash before finishing. I ended up generating the org chart with the wizard and then added the pictures using vba and the
ChangePicture function. This works well enough to solve the crashing problem. However, for larger JPEG images (300KB or larger), many of them don't seem to show up. If they do, they tend to randomly disappear and reappear when I go through the different pages
of the chart and come back to it. Is there a way to lower the picture quality using vba before or after putting them on the chart?
Thanks,
BobbyHi,
In regarding of the issue, we might try to troubleshooting the Visio 2013 crash during you using the Organization chart and check if it is helpful. I have some questions:
How many images do you insert to the diagram?
Where do you get the
organization information (Photos)? Form exchange server, text, excel file or ODBC-compliant data source?
Please try the following methods:
Install the latest patches.
Start Visio in
safe mode.
Repair Visio.
Add the size of virtual memory
If the issue still exists, please check what happened when Visio 2013 crash via the
event log.
If you need further assistance about "lower the picture quality" via VBA, please post your question to MSDN forum:
