Quality of imported Bitmap (BMP or PNG)

I'm in trouble with the impage importation in Flash 5.
I would like to import a BMP or PNG and mantain the "pixel"
definition (I don't want blur effect around margin..)
I tried in every way and settings but I can't do it!!!!!!!
Is it possible? Is it possible to view the pixel definition
of a BMP image in Flash (with 100% zoom)?
other problem....
Is it possible to import a BMP or PNG with transparent areas?
thanks a lot :)

Yes, PNG and GIF are image formats that can store alpha
information
Flash will respect. With BMP, I am not sure. Try it! ;)

  • How Can I Clean up Imported Bitmap Images

Hi, I am using Flash 5. I have imported a sequence of .png images and they are looking pretty rough and bitmapped so I wanted to clean them up.
    1. Do I have to select each frame after import and adjust the bitmap settings for each image or can I doo this somewhere so it affects al images?
    2. I can’t find the settings for cleaning up the bitmap images. I thought they would be in the “Properties” panel?
    3. Is there a way to fix the rasterization or clean up an imported .swf or is it better to clean up the sequence before saving as an .swf?

Ideally you should have images cleaned up/ properly sized / optimized before you import them into Flash.  Once they are in Flash, one thing you can do that can help how the image displays, especially if you manipulate its size while in Flash, is to set the image to allow smoothing.  This can be set using code or can be manually applied to the image in the library by right clicking it, selecting Properties, and checking the option to Allow Smoothing.
    Thanks Ned,
Wow, exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. A huge improvement in the look of the gradients.

  • Print quality poor on bitmap logos when printing from InDesign

We have a studio of MACs. One of them prints this indesign document fine, the quality of the bitmap images looks like it does on screen.
On all the other MACs printing to the same Printer the bitmap logos on the same document print out with really poor quality.
Any ideas ?? This is driving me mad as have checked the printer settings and it appears they match the working MAC.
Dont think its a driver thing as all other documents and anything other than bitmap logos print fine.

They have said the following regarding the file type ...... They are saved as tif files but in photoshop they are converted to Bitmap under the Image>Mode>Bitmap option

  • Can I trim around a path on an imported bitmap layer?

    Hi all,
I'm working in Illustrator 9 on Windows 7.
Can I trim around a path on an imported bitmap layer?
I've imported a layer from Photoshop and I have a triangle path on a sub-layer of that placed bitmap layer that I'd like to select around outside of and then trim around the path on the imported bitmap layer to make that bitmap layer the shape of my triangle path.
But when I select "Inverse" it is trying to select other paths outside my triangle path, so it selects only the bitmap layer and leaves me to delete only that entire bitmap layer.
I want to select my path, then have it trim around the outside of the path on my placed bitmap layer.
    Thanks for any input,
    digi

    Hi Monika,
I was just writing back because that's what I figured.  But my wavy line paths were very labor intensive when I created them in Photoshop so I was trying to copy and paste or import those in to Illustrator, but with no success.
Years ago I was able to transfer paths created in Illustrator to Photoshop, but I don't remember ever doing the opposite.
When I try to copy those complex, perfect sine-wave paths from Photoshop, I eventually get the message, "Could not export to clipboard because rectangle is empty."  But actually I'm trying to copy the paths from a TIFF with a background layer made of the color waves, so I'm not sure about that message's accuracy... and anyway I'm trying to copy the paths, not the background layer.  I right-click on the path and select-copy, but it doesn't copy back in to Illustrator.
I've also tried "placing"/importing the sine-wave path, but it only places the background layer from the Photoshop TIFF.
I've also tried simply dragging and dropping the path from Photoshop to Illustrator, but no go.
Is there a way to import my sine-wave path from Photoshop to Illustrator?
    Thanks again,
    digi

  • How to compress image files, jpeg, bmp, gif, png, tiff, etc

I am new to Jave imaging, does anybody know how to compress an image file, including jpeg, bmp, gif, png, tiff format.
    Thanks
    JC

    some are already compressed.
If you just want generic compression, it doesn't really matter what type of file they are. A simple approach would be to use ZipOutputStream

  • Is 128 Kbps a good quality to import my cd's with itunes? thanks!

Is 128kbps a good quality to import my cd's with itunes? Thanks!

It depends on your playback system and your ears and how much space you have on the hard drive of your computer. If you have plenty of space, I'd suggest importing them as Apple Lossless so that you have the same quality as the original CD. You can always make copies at lower bit rates if you need to, and if you have the latest version of iTunes, it will automatically compress tracks synced to an iPod or iOS device if you wish it to.
If you don't have sufficient space on the hard drive for Apple Lossless, 320kbps AAC or 256kbps AAC would be a decent compromise unless you really need to squeeze things down.

  • Best quality HD importing from FCE

I'm using a Canon Vixia HFM41 with FCE. The video quality in FCE is amazing. My question is how do I retain that same stunning quality when importing video into iDVD?
    Thanks in advance!

You'll see lots of discussion in the forums about maintaining the best quality, and there are workflows which result in better quality... but iDVD creates standard definition DVDs and these are unlikely to match high quality original footage.
To have widely compatible DVDs, standards were created for the video and audio DVD formats.  The video format is mpeg-2 for all standard definition DVDs, no matter if I use iDVD or a Hollywood company uses custom software.  Even though all DVDs have video in the same format, there are lots of tricks to improve quality.  Better software (eg, DVD Studio Pro) use better compression algorithms, and Hollywood uses the services of companies who painstakingly squeeze high quality productions onto fixed-size DVDs.
Look around the forums for tips; look at Apple's tutorials; and get the basics right for standard definition.  High-definition?  Blue-ray discs could be in Apple's future, but for now, you'll need a Blue-ray burner and special software (eg. one of the Roxio Toast versions).

  • Problems with loading .bmp or .png files.

When I try to load a .bmp (or .png) file (with the example from the LabView-Homepage) I do not get the picture. There are only lines which (I guess when they are in the right order) will display the image correctly. Can you help me?
    Thanks,
    Armin Herzer
    P.S.: I'm using LabView 6.0 for Linux

    Hello,
yesterday I came across the following: If you save the PGM-Image as a BMP with the following command
    convert 00.pbm 00.bmp
you ran into trouble with Labview (because the image is saved in a packed format). If you save the image with this command
    convert +compress 00.pbm 00.bmp
Labview displays the image correctly (because packing is now disabled). I suppose, that Labview (at least the Linux version) cannot handle compressed BMP's correctly. You can verify the same with the Gimp. If you enable RLE packing, the image is distorted. If you disable it, everything is o.k.
By the way, I wasn't able to display a PNG Image (but I tried not all variants of saving it). JPG is not of interest, because the image
s that must be processed are not allowed to be compressed with information loss (o.k., I can use 0% compression mode, but then I can use BMP).
Can you verify this behavior with Windows too?
The PGM-Image is created by a C-Programm written by me.
This program acts as a driver for a Leutron LFS-AT framegrabber board and should be included in Labview as a CIN (if I find a way to display the images :-)
    Thanks in advance,
    Armin

  • How to import bitmap files?

I have old slides that I scan with a photosmart S20 scanner. The best quality option scan is to save it as bitmap. How do I import it to the Lightroom catalog? Thank you.

I had the HP photosmart S10 scanner (the SCSI interface predecessor to the S20) and it produced GREAT slide scans although only 2400dpi which is generally enough for most uses. If you mean bitmap as in BMP files, you will have to convert these to TIFF or JPG (i would use TIFF as it will be a lossless conversion) to import these into lightroom as BMP is not a supported file type.  I believe IRFANVIEW (free shareware) will do this conversion in batch.

  • Import bitmap into an array

I want to import a 24-bit bitmap image into an array so I can loop through the array and perform calculations based on the color of the pixels etc.
Can any one advise me of an easy way to do this in Java?
    Thanks

  • Swapping out BMPs for PNGs

It's my understanding, in general, that the PNG file format
    is smaller and
more appropriate for graphics being displayed on a monitor
    screen. Much
smaller. So I tried an experiment, in an effort to reduce the
    overall size
    of my Captivate file.
    1. I exported 5 of the background images in a Captivate (3)
    movie and
converted them to PNG files using Adobe Fireworks.
    2. I imported the new PNG files back into the same Captivate
    movie
    3. I swapped the backgrounds for those 5 slides, replacing
    the BMP files
    with the new PNG files
    4. I deleted the BMP background files from the library.
    5. I saved the Captivate file
The file size of each individual BMP background image had
    been about 2500
KB, replaced by a PNG background image that is about 80 KB. I
    know you're
thinking that this should have made a dramatic difference in
    the file size
of the Captivate movie. That's what I thought too. But I was
    wrong!!
The result ...the Captivate file with PNG files was larger!
    Not a lot ...
    but it was larger.
Can anyone figure out why this is the case? There are no
    settings that I can
find that address the use of PNG files at all.
I'd really like to get the file size of my production down,
    without
sacrificing quality. I thought for sure that this would do
    it.
    Marge

    Hi Shawn
The forums software was upgraded to a new format a while back. The link you are pointing to is one that would have worked in the older FuseTalk forums. It is now broken and not understood by the Jive forums.

  • How do I get non-pixelated quality for imported image?

I want to import a high quality image from Photoshop into Final Cut Express 4.0 and be able to watch the clip
on fullscreen without loosing too much quality. The quality decreases to a very pixelated version of my image
and does not look good at all. Any suggestions?

Exactly what is the image -  TIFF?  JPEG?  PNG?  Something else?
What is the image size (pixel dimensions)?
What are your sequence settings in FCE?
FCE prefers JPEG images, and ones that do not require a huge amount of scaling to fit into the video frame.  Keep in mind that a video frame is 720x480 (DV-NTSC), 720x576 (DV-PAL), 1280x720 (HD), 1920x1080 (HD), or 1440x1080 (HDV non-square pixels).  You don't need much more resolution than that to get a good video image.

  • Why do Apple photos lose quality when imported to Windows?

When photos taken on an Apple phone are imported to Windows Photoshop Elements 11, the photos seriously lose quality.  Why?

A bitmap image (such as a .jpg or .gif) is basically a grid of colors, which are represented by the values (numbers) for how much red, green, and blue of each pixel in the grid to activate when the image is displayed on a monitor or printed.
Some bitmap images (including .jpgs) can also specify a color profile. Applications that support color profiles will adjust the color values before they are displayed. Photoshop honors color profiles, Fireworks does not. Fireworks does not, because most browsers do not; Fireworks displays images as they will be seen on the Web. Photoshop does, because Photoshop can support color profiles for print devices.
Photoshop has a default color profile. If you open an image that does not have a color profile in Photoshop, Photoshop will apply its default color profile to the image and adjust the color values it displays. Photoshop shows you modified data; Fireworks shows you the raw data. This is not a quality issue, because nothing has changed with your image and the applications are operating exactly as they are supposed to.
What you want, I think, is to be able to open your image in Photoshop, and then save the richer view of the colors you see, but without a color profile.
    Read this article: http://www.viget.com/inspire/save-for-web-simply
You can find out more about this whole issue if you query your favorite search engine for the phrase "photoshop save for web color shift" (without the quotes).

  • Loading bitmap (.BMP) files

I am writing a sort of Image Viewers with Flex 2 - loading
and displaying image files resided in local disk.
Using mx.controls.Image class, I could load and display the
JPG / GIF / PNG files at runtime.
But I could not do the BMP files with the Image class (or
control); what I get is only broken-image icon.
Still I don't understand why the BMP format files are not
    included in the "Bitmap object".
How can I load / display BMP files in Flex 2 MXML
    application?
    Thanks in Advance,

    Hi,
I have tried the loader.unload(); method and now I get this
    following error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of

I am obviously missing the point here, but how am I doing
