Quality of photograph deteriorates in photoshop elements in slideshow

The quality fo some photogrpahs deteriorates when using full screen in the slideshow. When i display the photograqphs in full screen in another application the quality is good. What am i doing wrong? Alternatively is it possible to run the slideshow in a lesseer than fullscreen view but without all of the software application toolbars etc - juts a small framed photograph on a black background?

Yes I do agree that Full Screen Preview in the Create Slideshow function is not that great even if you have set it for the Highest Quality. However, my perspective is that I use the Preview to look at the flow of the slideshow. It is not the finished product and it does not really represent the quality that you will see in the finished product The final slideshow image quality could appear to be better or worse depending on the output formats chosen.
When you use the Output command for the slideshow (for example to create a PDF file or a WMV file) then there are several resolution choices for the photos in the output file that is created.

If you are displaying images on your computer monitor, then here is a different function for you to try - Full Screen View
Below the thumbnails displayed in the Organizer workspace, there is a slider which controls the size of the thumbnails. To the right of that slider there are 2 icons - the second to the right says "Full Screen View" and that is what I suggest you try. I anticipate that your images will be better quality than the full screen preview of the create slideshow.
First select just a few photo thumbnails, then click on the Full Screen View where you will usually view one photo at a time on the Full Screen. When you are in Full Screen View you do not normally see any control bar, but if you move your mouse a control bar will appear at the top. Now you can "play" the photos as a slideshow advancing at the specified time interval - or - you can use the control bar to manually advance through the photos.
If you want to display various photos in a specific sequence that you choose, then you can make a PSE Collection of those photos, display that Collection in the thumbnail area, drag and drop thumbnails to change the sequence within the Collection. Then select all the photos of this Collection and click on the Full Screen icon to start the display.
Full Screen display also has an option to display 2 photos side by side - helps to decide which photo is better for similar shots. The icon to initiate the dual display is near the middle of the control bar that appears at the top.

Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
    Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

  • Photoshop Elements 6 Slideshow Issues

    Photoshop Elements 6 Core Version: 6.0 (20070910.r.377499)
    Issues:
    Ordering Slide Shows
They will not order in File Name order -- Must I do it manually? -- which is silly for a computer
    Slide Show Photo Background
File name picked up as title/description  which is perfect --
But cannot get a bigger background then picture
This means the title covers picture and / or does not show up well.
Ideally I would like a larger canvas on the bottom of the picture so the text can show up against black or some other color without covering the photo.
This should be easy with canvas size but I cannot get it to work in a slide show.
Should also be able to change text color
Do not mind buying an upgrade but want to make sure these issues can be solved
See these issues in boards but cannot find solutions.
    Thanks

the problem seems to be with the mp3,could please specify the size of the audio file which you were using  and please try an audio file with a smaller size.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 - Slideshow in 16x9 widesceen option?

I have Photoshop Elements 8 & Premeire Elements 8 and I love them but I'm leaning towards upgrading to 10 based on the new features.  The one thing that will convince me to do so will be if I will be able to create slideshows in a true 16x9 widescreen format using Photoshop Elements Organizer.  I called Adobe sales about this (twice!) but after being transferred in circles and put on hold for an hour, I figured I'd get a better response from my fellow users here.
    Thanks in advance!

In the slideshow editor, when you click output and edit with premiere elements you will get black bands at the top and bottom of the frame, and possibly the sides depending on the original aspect ratio of your photos. However you can scale the frames in premiere elements by clicking in the main window and dragging the corner handles of the transform bounding box. Hold down the shift key and drag one corner to constrain proportions. Some cropping may be necessary but you can certainly fill the screen. I use it when I mix video and stills so the frames all play uniformly on wide screen presentation.
Wow!  A great workaround since there doesn't seem to be an option for aspect ratio.  I tried your advice and it works quite well on most of the photos in the slideshow.  Some of the photos that have portrait orientation get too clipped though.  I suppose I'll need to convert them prior to importing them into the project.  Thank you very much!

  • Codecs for Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 slideshow music downloads

I cannot download purchased MP3 files from Amazon to my slideshows in Photoshop Elements 10. It says the computer does not have the proper codec to download the file. How do I resolve this?

An old Adobe kb suggests this might be because either
    - the program can't read the album artwork embedded in your MP3
    - or the mp3 is copy protected.

  • Photoshop Elements 8 Slideshow transition question

    Hi,
I'm creating a slideshow using Photoshop Elements 8 and can't seem to figure out how to have the pan/zoom effect per picture continue through my transitions.  I was able to successfully have pan/zoom work through my dissolves when I created a slideshow in PS Elements 7... but now it's been awhile since I've done it and I'm now using PS Elements 8.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Leann

Maybe I'm not seeing what you are... but when I'm in PS 8 editor, I see that I can change from a fade to a wipe, etc.  But I still don't see a button that will make the photo continue to pan/zoom through the transition.  What happens is the outgoing picture freezes when the next picture starts to fade in with the pan/zoom.   I know I did it in past versions... just don't remember how I did it.  Am I making sense?  I just want to have the incoming and outgoing pictures continue to pan/zoom throughout the transitions.  Maybe I just haven't followed your instructions fully?

  • Photoshop Elements 10 Slideshow Image Orientation

    Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me please? My OS is WIndows 7 Premium and I am using Photoshop Elements and Premier 10.
I have created a slideshow in Photoshop Elements and saved this to DVD (PAL as I am in the UK). All images are the correct orientation and display correctly when on my PC. However, once saved on DVD and played through my DVD player to the TV there are a number of images being displayed in the incorrect orientation.
Does anyone know how to correct this please?
    Thanks.

    Hi everyone,
I agree with suspicion that Premiere Elements is probably making the mistake of displaying the photos incorrectly.   However, I suspect that avoiding the problem by actions in the Organizer may be the most practical alternative.
Ken, can you help with some details ?
1 - I am not at a computer where I can verify this statement -- but I think that in earlier versions of the Organizer, there is an Organizer Preference which controls how the photo is rotated (by orientation indicator only) or by actually rotating the photo. And by orientation indicator only is the default.  Does that Preference still exist in version 10 ? If yes, then I think rotating multiple photos at the same time within the Organizer would probably be a circumvention of the problem that shows on the photo orientation on the DVD.
2 -- My expereince and what I have seen reported on these forums is that the Elements Organizer does recognize an Orientation indicator which has been set in a photo file by the camera. So portrait mode photos which come from the camera with this Orientation indicator usually (maybe always) display correctly within the organizer.
Therefore since this thread says "All images are the correct orientation and display correctly when on my PC", I suspect that the person originating this thread did not make any orientation correction.
3-- The type of approach that I believe some people have successfully used, is to first set the Organizer preference to actually rotate the photo file: then do
-- one rotate if necessary to have the photo display correctly in the Organizer
-- if the portrait photo initially looked OK in the Organizer, then 2 rotates would be done : first would set the photo on its side (temporarily) and then the second rotate would be back in the other direction.  These actions can be done for multiple selected photos.
4-- OR as an alternative to 3 (above), if the slide show has already been constructed within the Organizer Slide Show Editor, then there are methods to initiate an edit of a specific photo file which transfers to the PSE editor and can take the action of changing orientation in the PSE editor.,
    FYi - Mt Ventoux,
Don't be discouraged by all the details I am discussing while we explore the best solution for you.

  • Photoshop Elements 10 slideshow

I made a slideshow a couple years for my dad's 85th and now want to edit and add more pictures.  I am told I must use Photoshop Premiere Elements which I don't have and don't wish to purchase.  Why is it that I made the video with Elements 10 but cannot edit it with Elements 10?   I really don't want to start over and create a new slideshow.  Can anyone advise on what I should be doing?
    Thank you

  • Saving photoshop elements 7 slideshow as .wmv file

I have tried to export my slideshow from pse7 to pe7 and it wasn't working so i tried to save the slideshow as a .wmv file and it gets halfway through saving and it encounters a problem and needs to close what can i do about this new problem that i now have now i have 2 problems not able to export slideshow to premiere elements 7 and now i can not even save it please help

to troubleshoot your problem I suggest two courses of action at the same time
A -- you should create a new test slideshow which has only about 10 photos. In this test slide show use music (if your original slide show had music) and use pan/zoom (if your original slide show did).  When picking these approximately 10 photos, choose photos that are representative of those in your original slide show.
B - please respond to these questions
1 -- Have you ever been able to either save a slideshow as a wmv file or send a slideshow to Premiere Elements 7?
2 -- Have you recently cleaned out the Temporary Files on your computer ?  How much available space on your C drive?
3 -- How many photos are in your original slideshow (approximate number is OK) and what is the megapixel resolution (like were they from a 4 megapixel or a 10 megapixel camera or were they scanned)  for most of the photo files ?
4 -- Computer specs and what version of Windows?

  • Photoshop Elements 13 slideshow themes are very limited and unconfigurable

I have upgraded from PSE 11 to 13. The slideshow themes are very constrained and unconfigurable.  Is there a plan to enable PSE 12 type features or add more themes - or allow users to build themes?

I have also just upgraded to PSE 13. One of the improvements that I was looking for was higher quality video output for slideshows (in PSE 10 the options were extremely limited).  Indeed, the output quality is better, but the "Themes" are woefully inadequate. I just want a simple (ie no pan & slide) slideshow, but one that allows me to change the display time by photo.
To get round the previous limitations of PSE. I have been using Magix PhotoStory.  It does everything I want plus a whole lot more.....

  • Photoshop Elements 7 Slideshow Pan & Zoom issues with imported pictures

I am using PSE7 on a Windows XP machine. When I create a slideshow, I have the default set to pan and zoom the pictures. If I add pictures that are already in my catalog, it works great and will apply a random pan and zoom to each of the pictures. If, however, I add a picture from a folder and choose pictures that are not already in my catalog, it will add the picture to the slideshow but will not apply a pan and zoom to it (even though I said that it should). I can then manually add it, but it is not random, it always uses the same pan and zoom for each picture. In my most recent project, I had over 100 pictures I added to a slideshow that were not in my catalog. They all imported into the slideshow, but had no pan and zoom even though I had the option selected. I then selected all the slides, applied pan and zoom, and they all ended up with the exact same pan and zoom - nothing random. I really wasn't in the mood to manually change all 100+ pictures pan/zoom features. So, I created a new catalog, imported the pictures into the catalog, then created the slideshow, and it worked fine. Then, since I don't want those photos in a catalog, I delete the catalog. A lot of extra steps for something that I think should work no matter if you are importing files from the catalog or files from a folder. Or am I just doing something wrong?

    Paul,
Since I do catalog photos which I will be using a slide show, I guess that I may never experience this bug. I am curious about whether there is any difference in the behavior depending on whether these photos are from a digital camera or scanned photos?
Howeer, I do agree with your conclusion that since the slide show does support adding photo files (that are not in the Catalog) directly from their folder location into the slide show, it should apply random pan and zoom consistently.
Here is a link to the process to report that bug to Adobe -

  • Photoshop Elements 11 Slideshow Question

Hello, I am attempting to create a slideshow presentation and the screen is coming up black when I attempt to preview the slideshow. I can see the pictures in the bottom pane and hear the music but can't preview the slideshow. Can anyone help? Thank you!
    Laura

    Hi minner105,
It doesnt matter if you have a hard copy or a downloaded copy.
As per the End User License Agreement (EULA), at any given instance you are eligible to install the software on 2 computers.

  • Photoshop Elements 13 Slideshow Editor Sucks

I just upgraded from version 11 and I am VERY, VERY disappointed with the slideshow editing capability.  I've been a loyal PSE user for many years and have loved the creative control with the slideshow editor.  Version 13's slideshows are pitiful.  There is no way to add pan and zoom individually, can't add music and fit to slides, can't add blank slides and text for titles, can't change transition effects, etc.  What were the developers thinking?  Can I downgrade to version 12?  I purchased the software at Best Buy.

I am getting extremely frustrated with Adobe  ---- one more time.   My slide show in 13 does not function beyond allowing me to select a theme.  Once selected, nothing happens other than returning me to the organizer screen.  I spent a wasted hour on Adobe chat  being informed that they are only trained for download issues and essentially know nothing about slideshows in 13
So with no help.... I will have to give up the slideshow functionality unless someone with knowledge can reply here to get it working.   I believe it worked a month ago when I first tried it   but now it has nothing .... no preview nada.  .    Looks like I am out of luck.

  • Photoshop elements 8 slideshow crashes

I created a new slideshow.  I was ready to put it to "outPut" and it crashed.  When I go back into it, everyting is still there but when I try to do anything like "play", it crashes.  The other slideshows are okay when open them up.  What happened.

    1. Reduce the image size 1000 x 750 if you are using high resolution images.
    2. Update video and audio drivers in your machine.
    3. Remvove high resolution videos if you are using in slideshow (AVDHD, HD)
    4. Check audio files are windows supported auidio codecs.

  • Export from Photoshop Elements 6 to Premiere Elements 8

I prepared a slide show with The Organizer of Photoshop Elements 6 and produced a DVD which has good but not excellent image quality (I chose File Setting - High 800x600). To improve the DVD image quality I installed the trial version of Premiere Elements 8. I exported the slide show to Premiere Elements 8 and have several problems.1 The image quality of the DVD produced by Premiere Elements 8 is worse than the one produced from The Organizer (Photoshop Elements 6).
2 The titles, transitions and soundtrack does not show in Premiere Elements 8.
3 The slides sequence in Premiere Elements 8 is different then the one in the slide show in The Organizer (Photoshop Elements 6).
At one time a menu popped up asking me if I wanted to convert the Catalogue of V6. I declined because I was afraid that the V6 catalogue may be replaced and I would not be able to go back to it.
    Please help.

    CarlosWA
    Conclusion.
My results are consistent with your problems NOT being associated with Photoshop Elements 6 slideshow being used instead a Photoshop Element 8 slideshow in the slideshow transfer to Premiere Elements 8.
Testing. Photoshop Elements 6/Premiere Elements 8.
First I created a slideshow in the Photoshop Elements 6 Slide Show Editor. It included:
    (a) 19 jpeg photos each with pixel dimensions of 3264 x 2448 (that is not recommended pixel dimensions but was used to stress out the project if possible...these represent grossly oversized photos since the goal is DVD VIDEO with standard frame size of 720 x 480.)
    (b) I used a Wipe transition between each
    (c) I used text within the photos (included in the text was a sequential number so that I could more easily visually follow the sequence of the slideshow after it was transferred to Premiere Elements 8)
    (d) I added two audio clips as soundtrack (the first I placed from beginning to just before the last two photos to pick up on any audio out of sync as well as loss of a whole audio clip)
    (e) I used a pan and zoom effect for photos 1 and 2.
The quality of the preview in the Photoshop Elements 6 Slide Show Editor was good.
I outputted the Photoshop Elements 6 Slide Show Editor slideshow, using the Slide Show Edit Output option "Send to Premiere Elements". When I did, Premiere Elements 8 opened, I set the project preset, and it accepted the slideshow. In the Project Media area were
    (a) a folder containing all the individual components of the slideshow
    (b) the slideshow file in a video (grouped) form
The video (grouped) form had automatically been placed on the Timeline as well.
Everything transferred correctly. No problems. SEE IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW.
I even burned the Timeline content to DVD-VIDEO standard from Premiere Elements 8, and the DVD-VIDEO standard played back well on my 19 in LCD Widescreen TV.
Testing. Photoshop Elements 8/Premiere Elements 8.
I repeated the above with Photoshop Elements 8/Premiere Elements 8 and the same slideshow and obtained the same results.
IMPORTANT. Whether it was Photoshop Elements 6/Premiere Elements 8 or Photoshop Elements 8/Premiere Elements 8, I had to render the Timeline in the Edit Mode in order to get the best possible preview so that I could determine/confirm what was on the Premiere Elements Timeline. And, rendering the Timeline as described with all those oversized photos took several hours.
This is what I need to know:
    1. How many photos did you use in the slideshow in the Photoshop Elements 6 or 8 slideshow, and what were their pixel dimensions? If you do not know, you can check it out in Photoshop Elements Full Editor/Image Menu/Resize/Image Size dialog or just place your mouse course over the file on the hard drive and note the "dimensions".
    2. If you transfer your slideshow from Photoshop Elements 6 or 8 to Premiere Elements 8, use the Output option "Send to Premiere Elements", and get your slideshow on the Premiere Elements 8 Timeline, do you render that Timeline by pressing the Enter Key of the computer main keyboard so that the red line over the Timeline turns green when the process is complete?
    3. Is your computer optimized, defragmented, cleaned up, scratch files directed to an external hard drive (NTFS formatted), etc. If you are using an external hard drive for the scratch files, is there enough space there for them?
    4. What is your computer operating system and what are its resources, such as, available RAM and free hard drive space. Have you checked your computer's virtual memory set up?
Stay the course on this to rule in or out the above non wmv approach to getting your slideshow as a DVD-VIDEO. But if you do decide to detour over to Save As File Movie .wmv and you are dealing with oversized photos and an offending component in the slideshow, the the writing of the .wmv becomes a possible focus point for errors. And, if the .wmv is destined for DVD-VIDEO, then use the file size (also known as profile) = NTSC DVD (720 x 480).
I suspect that the problem core goes to
    (a) use of oversized photos
    (b) offending component in slideshow
    (c) size of slideshow
    (d) computer resources
    (e) combination of all or any one of above
I will continue to watch for your progress.
