Error message when updating software

Whenever I attempt to update software I get an error message stating that my computer is unable to create a folder. Today when updating iTunes I got this: The Installer could not create the folder “/private/tmp/AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg.766WaORpr
Any help is greatly appreciated

Disconnect all peripherals from your computer. Boot from your install disc & run Repair Disk from the utility menu. To use the Install Mac OS X disc, insert the disc, and restart your computer while holding down the C key as it starts up.
Select your language.
Once on the desktop, select Utility in the menu bar.
Select Disk Utility.
Select the disk or volume in the list of disks and volumes, and then click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk.
Restart your computer when done.
Repair permissions after you reach the desktop-http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751 and restart your computer.
Try updating iTunes again.

I am confused as to how a download of DTM would cause this. Downloading DTM to your PC does nothing but download an installation file to your PC. You must launch that installation file in order for anything else to happen...and then do even more in order to cause what you have described. So I am confused as to exactly what you have done.
In any event, if your BB has been somehow wiped clean, then the only way to get your data back is if you already have previously taken a backup. If you have never done that, then there is no hope.

when I try to update software, it says "an error has occured and cannot update" then asks if I want to restart.

Problems with my curve when updating software

My computer crashed when my curve was updating software and now will not switch on. The red light flashed at the top. On a previous forum post advice was given that suggested that I should attempt to reinstall the software as I had been doing before and that would fix the problem. However when I plug my phone back into my laptop I get a Window's message telling my that Window's does not recognize the device and that it is not working correctly. The Blackberry desktop manager does not connect with the phone either. I have only had this phone for 5 hours, please help me!

1. You have a Curve (what exact model # at Options > About) or a Pearl? You posted in the 81xx Pearl section.
2. What is the OS on the device you were replacing, if you recall?
3. Disconnect the USB cable, Reboot the computer from off, and try it all again.
If still nothing, please post back and let's see what we can do.

When updating software in app store automatically uses my partners apple ID

Hi,
Using a mini-Mac which has always been personalised to my apple ID, my girlfriend has a macbook air and iPhone. Somehow when I want to install software update it populates the apple ID with my girlfirends username, not mine?! The system appears to have my ID logged in and iTunes is using mine....it won't let m change it either.

Launch the App store application. On the right side of the Panel, you will find 'Quick Links.' The first line will read either 'Welcom xxxxx' or 'Sign In' Select that and Sign in to the correct App Store account.
You will now have to verify that the Software has been bought for your account or not. If not, you have to 'repurchase,' if you are not in a 'Family Share'. If you are in a 'Family Share' it will provide the option under 'Purchased' to update software from your 'Family'

i had the same thing the other day when i first got my ipod (eBay)..
anyway..
i plugged it into the wall as suggested and nothing happened.. then i pressed some of the buttons, a bar went across the bottom and it began charging!!
are you trying to charge from yer computer or via the wall socket?
apparently, ipods won't charge via usb or firewire if fully out of charge.. only via proper power!
this may or may not be true.. but it worked for me!
now.. if i could only get mine to mount again..?

Updated software today took a very long time Ipod did connect updated software which could not complete followed Apples instruction
s to the letter backed up updated ..... Now Iam stuck in a recovery loop with a useles Ipod touch. i am as mad as **** as the other wee my son updated and his Ipod classic failed. I had to shell ot for a new one. Useless support stuck in loop afetr loop of useless guides and rubbish help. Can any one tell me what to do other than smash this piece of junk into pieces on U tube. i am now off Apple and will never buy another item with built in failures

Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

Then try restoring on another computer.
Last, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Error 103 when updating software (Garageband and Apple Loops 1.0)

My Macbook Pro (retina) keeps recieving an error(102) msg when trying to update the software that contains Garageband and Apple Loops 1.0

I think what is happening is, that the update you are trying to install is meant for the new Mavericks compatable version of GarageBand - GarageBand 10.0. When the download finishes, it cannot be installed properly, because GarageBand 10.0 is not present. With GB 10 installed, these instruments download with no problem on my mac.
GB 10.0 is free on Mavericks - so, honestly, download and install GB 10.0 in addition to your current version. Let it download and install additional instruments and loops, launch it once to let it rebuild the loop index, then ignore it. The application does not need much space, and perhaps you may want to use occasionally the automatic drummer or the Arpeggiator. Before downloading GB10.0, make a backup copy of GB '09, just in case the installer should try to overwrite it.
After GB 10 installed the additional instruments, search for all places with installed loops in the system library and rebuild your loop index.

Depending on how you did the update, it may have created, on your PC, a backup file. If you did the update via USB tether on your PC (e.g., not OTA), then search your hard drive for a file with an ipd extension (*.ipd). Inspect the results (date/time of the file) and then choose one to use in the restore. Then, launch the DTM software and conduct a selective restore:

If you updated OTA or skipped the desktop backup during the update, then I am sorry for your loss, but there's nothing to be done.

Content Cleared From iPod When Updated Software. PLEASE HELP!

When plugging my 5th generation 30GB iPod into my computer, a notice popped up asking if I wanted to update my iPod software. I clicked yes and a little less than 10 minutes later, my iPod was supposedly all "updated" and "OK to disconnect." According to my computer, everything was updated and all of my content (music, movies, photos, podcasts) was on my iPod. However, when I unplugged it from my computer, my iPod did not have any of the music, movies, or podcasts on it but it did have photos. I then tried restoring my iPod to the original settings but it didn't change anything. I have no idea what to do now and I am desperate for my music back on. I've only had my iPod less than a year.

Pearl 8100 quit working when updating software

I have a Pearl 8100 on AT&T and attempting to update the device software to version 4.5xxx. I downloaded the software onto my Vista computer and while updating, the device crashed as the application said it was removing items. The device shutdown and now the light does a double flash in red and will not start up. I have tried removing the battery, but does not power up, only receive the flashing light. I am unable to master reset as the device needs to be running from everything I can find. How can I get it to work and update the software?
