Quarter inside Macbook Pro i7

Upgraded my Macbook Pro from 4gb to 8gb. When I opened the back, I found a single quarter on top of the multi drive. My Macbook Pro is running great with 8gb, but I really want to know why there is a quarter in my machine that I ordered directly from the factory and shipped from China. I called Applecare, who had ideas, but wasn't really sure himself. Below is the video of my discovery on YouTube.

I suggest you claim a lifetime warranty on the basis that it might be the cause of any subsequent problem.

Hard Drive not recognised inside MacBook Pro, however works in enclosure...

And my question is... WHY?!
Basically, my Macbook Pro took a bit of a knock on the hard drive side. Coincidentally, as it was on at the time, (Whoops!), it stopped responding and the colour wheel of death was apparent. I restarted with option held pressed down, so that I can see if the Hard Disk is still being read/recognised. After doing this a couple of times, I noticed that the Hard Disk was becoming intermittent in its ability to being read. I have also used Disk Utility and Disk Warrior and have been getting the same symptoms. I diagnosed, (more of an assumption than anything), that the Hard Disk is broken and I need another one. No biggy! I have a Time Machine drive, which had just that moment finished backing-up! =) Nice!
Anyway, I got a new hard drive (Toshiba 250 GB MK2552GSX Model no.), put it in my Macbook Pro and it, again, is intermittent, therefore fully disproving my theory that it was the Hard Disk itself. (Seeing as it can be read easily in the enclosure.)
Possibly the connector/the logic board it connects to?? I don't know, there's something broken inside my laptop, but just in case somebody out there has a solution, I'd be VERY grateful as it's my laptop I use for my university studies.

Does your old drive work in your external enclosure?
The reason I ask is because I've had this problem, but it happened after I replaced the Hard Drive in my Early 08 MBP (MacBook Pro 4,1). Turns out, the i/o cable, where it attaches to the logic board, gets worn/brittle from heat and very easy to damage. The repair at the genius bar ran about $20 for the cable, but I had a generous genius who waived the standard labor fee after I gave him my sad story, so your milage may vary.
I should also note that the Hard Drive on that generation of MacBook Pro is not considered user upgradable, and your swap will negate your Apple Care, if you have it, until all the damaged components are replaced.

Dust "inside" Macbook Pro 15" 09 version - help?

Anyways, I have a Macbook Pro 15" laptop that I purchased in 2009. Just recently while cleaning my screen, I realized that there are specks of dust that I can't wipe off and I'm assuming that they're "inside" the screen, or stuck somewhere in there. Is this a common issue with Macbooks? And if so, does it cost a lot to fix this issue? (I am no longer under warranty).

Oh that's a lot, but I figured it would be.
Let's say I were to get it fixed, cost set aside, is there a way to not have the dust come back in? I think the way it got in is towards the bottom of my screen near the hinge where it says "Macbook Pro". That part isn't sealed all the way and I can push it down sometimes to stick it better.

Panasonix DVX 100A Firewire Will Not Fit Inside MacBook Pro

I have a question for the professionals. I have a MacBook Pro, just got it last year, and also a video camera: Panasonic DVX-100a. The firewire cable I have is a 6-pin I believe when my Mac has the 8. Do you know if there is a special cable I need to transfer the footage and where I can find it?

Hi Matt,
Your camera must have FW400, your MBP FW800. Just get a FW400 to FW800 cable or adapter, Amazon, wherever.

Are you under warranty? If so, tell Apple about it. This is likely a manufacturing defect, as the dirt was probably introduced during the manufacturing process and is not something you can clean yourself.

It might be a huge coincidence but the drive was working fine before i installed lion?

Installing Lion would not cause the superdrive to stop working. Are you unsure as to whether or no a cd/dvd is inside? Something may be broken inside and you should consider bringing it in for service.

Drinking straw inside my new MacBook Pro?

I'm hoping that someone here might be able to shed some light on this?
I purchased a 17" MacBook Pro a couple of days ago, and when I went to upgrade the RAM last night, I found a piece of what looks like a plastic drinking straw inside the enclosure.
It's clear, about an inch or so long, and crimped at one end.
Does anybody know if this serves some function, and is meant to be inside the machine and has simply worked its way loose; or is it a foreign object that has found its way into the enclosure during manufacture?

Macbook Pro doesn't get CD/DVD inside the superdrive

Hi every body!
Last August I bought my first Mac, a Macbook Pro 15''.
Less than two months after that, I have the next problem: when I want insert any CD/DVD on the SuperDrive, It doesn't accept it (it doesn't get the CD/DVD inside the Mac).
But if I leave the CD/DVD in the Superdrive and then I suspend and wake up the laptop, then the superdrive get the CD/DVD inside! It also happens when I restart the laptop with de CD/DVD in the Superdrive.
I have intented to restart the SMC but it doesn't work. I can't turn on the computer and then insert a CD/DVD.
Someone can help me?

The collect policy depends on the country and it doesn't matter where and how you bought it, every legit purchase is backed with a year of global apple warranty .. if you suspect the same , I suggest you take yours to for a quick walk to the apple store

Thank you. I did contact Apple Norway and they already raised a case no based on which I shall go and hand over my mac pro retina 13inch. As per Apple Norway, as the case has been registered before the expiry of the warranty, Apple India to accept the warranty as well and get the set repaired under warranty. Thank you.

Searching the way to solve my problem I visited few apple authorized stores in Ukraine, and I asked if I can try to shake new models MacBook Pro 13' (MF839, MF840, MF841) to find out if they also have this weird noise inside, like something is loosen inside. And I found out that that they also have this problem, but not all of them!! There was few of them that were ok. And I am curious what could it be... because it's not a force touch and not the keyboard. It's something big... and the noise comes from upper case.
People, can you try to shake your new MF models (from side to side), and check if you also have the same problem?

Looks like your MacBook has a factory defect. It should still be under warranty, so I suggest you to visit the store, where you purchased your laptop and ask for a replacement or a refund.

My MacBook Pro Mid-2010 gets a Question Mark inside a folder when booting up. I've tried using Startup Manager for a Time Machine Restore from a LaCie External HD. Any ideas??

You need to use a Mac OS X DVD to restore the backups; Time Machine backups made by Mac OS X versions prior to 10.8 aren't bootable prior to restoration.

Can anybody provide any solution on this.

What kind of noise and when? There are fans inside that run at various noise levels keeping things at the right temperature. There is a hard drive, unless you have SSD, that can make noise when the stepping motor moves the track arm. There is an optical drive that makes noise at startup.
There are noises when you move the MBP and the motion sensor engages.
