I got a message that Photoshop quit unexpectedly and the next time I tried to open Photoshop it's not responding.  I've tried restarting my computer already.

Ok, I deleted preferences and then restarted my computer.  Photoshop is still not responding.  When I click to open PS it looks as if it will actually open, but then it gets held up.  The colorwheel shows up here....

    - Go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>and under apps select FBM and try to delete it.
    Next:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

I can't launch Safari. When I right click on the icon, the "Application not responding" is grey and no matter what method I use to Force quit, I get no response.

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

ipod touch not responding - tried rstore function - no success - what to do now?

If you restored the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod and still have the problem the you very likely have a hardware problem and an ppointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions, magneticpitch!
I can't help you with your question, but I'd like to make a suggestion about using Discussions. In general, it is best to ask your question in only one forum at a time. That way all the answers are in one place, and it is easier for people trying to help to see what has already been suggested. If after a few days, you haven't gotten help in the one place you asked, it is appropriate to ask in another forum.
    Good luck.

  • Safari 6.0.2 not responding on OSX 10.7.5

    Good day
    I have a Macbook 13inch Late 2007, 2,2Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB Ram, Mac OSX 10.7.5 Lion
Safari 6.0.2. is hanging / not responding whenever you try to open it.
You have to force quit which then generates a report. Safari doesn't open at all, one sees the options / tabs at the very top of OSX but you can't click on anything, the circle just keeps spinning.
    I've tried:
    1) Restarting
    2) Created a new Test User, tested Safari with it, same results just hangs.
    3) Followed Apple's advice to remove any third party extensions - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3230
    4) Followed other support discussions from the community to delete the extensions as well.
    5) Uninstalled Flash, reinstalled version 12 after seeing issues with Adobe Flash with older Macbook models
Do you have any advice you can possibly give to help getting Safari working again?
I do have TimeMachine backups in place from before I started getting the trouble.  But not sure which files to restore from backup, perhaps the whole Safari app??
    Your help much appreciated.

If you have not done so already then try the 10.7.5 supplemental upgrade. It may help.

  • When I open Firefox, it goes to the first page and then stops, saying "Not Responding" with the cursor spinning. What can I do to fix this? Thanks for any help

When I open Firefox, it goes to the first page I open, but then stops and says "Not Responding" with the mouse cursor spinning. I hit the close button and it says Windows is searching for a solution (which doesn't come).
When I open Firefox again, it says:
    Well, this is embarrassing.
Firefox is having trouble recovering your windows and tabs. This is usually caused by a recently opened web page.
    You can try:
Removing one or more tabs that you think may be causing the problem
Starting an entirely new browsing session
Any ideas? I gretly appreciate any help. Thanks!!

    What is that first page?
Can't you open any web pages in Firefox?
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • With 3g, I keep getting "server not responding" on my iPad2...what do I do?

at home, where I do not have WIFI, I have been unsuccessful for the last day to get an internet connection via 3G. Getting emails is  not a problem, but when I try to access the internet, all I get is "server not responding".....do I contact ATT or is there something else I can try?  This problem appeared out of the blue.

If you have a very slow 3 g signal, or worse, a signal so bad that it falls back to 2 g or edge, many servers will time out before you can get the data.  There are some apps that will let you test your connection speed, such as speed test.
If you are in a real congested area, or wayyyy out in the sticks, this may be the problem.  A good way to test is to goto a known good signal area, like a starbucks, join their wifi, and see if the pages work.  Then leave the wifi, but in a known good 3 g area, see if the it is better.

  • "......not responding" even though I have!   What's the alternative?

    Hi
I have a MacBook Pro, using broadband over a router, trying to use ichat with cam and just cannot get it to work -I just get the "XXXXX has not responded" - even if I have!
On the same router I can use my Windows PC ok with MSN Msgr and web cam.
I've read all the posts - what's the best alternative - aMSN?

I have just entered the world of the doomed audio/video user and have spent an hour or so with a very helpful Apple operative, but still no fix yet. My audio/video worked fine on the router I have but within the last couple of weeks I have been getting an error message telling me that 'I' didn't respond to 'me', not that I didn't respond to someone else.
Has anyone any idea what's going wrong, all the settings are the same as before and I can buddy chat etc., the only thing that might be different is that I've updated to 10.4.7. I have now been advised to stay at 10.4.6 and I'm going to try and chat with friends when they get in from work. Has anyone had the same problem and if so, did they get a fix?
Every little bit of help would be most appreciated
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   was on 10.4.7

  • I just installed FireFox 5. When I want to save or to open a particular Folder is not responding, is acting like frozen. What I have to do? I have FireFox for updating for Yahoo

Like I CLICK on OPEN Folder and is not responding. Or on DELETE and is not responding. During this process IF I click on Save as and cancel this, then I may have a chanse to open the OPEN Folders or other. Sometime I have to repeat this "show" to achive the working conditions. Do I need to uninstall the IE9 for Yahoo?

    It says:
<blockquote>"Bloomind FT DeepDark 2" is a theme that has been created to transform the look of Firefox 4 for <b>Windows</b> users. It has been specially designed for Seven, but rendering is relatively accurate on XP and Linux (<b>I can t test it on MAC</b>, but for those who would like to try it anyway on that platform, <u>you can force download and install it</u>).</blockquote>
So try to save that file via the right-click context menu.

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

"Avast" is the worst of the whole wretched lot of commercial "security" products for the Mac. Not only does it fail to protect you from any real danger, it may send personal data (such as web browsing history and the contents of email messages) back to the developer without your knowledge, give false warnings, destabilize and slow down the computer, expose you to network attack, and corrupt the network settings and the permissions of files in your home folder. Removing it may not repair all the damage.
Some versions of the product also inject advertising into web pages. In short, apart from the fine print in the license agreement, Avast is indistinguishable from malware, and is arguably worse than any known malware now in circulation.
Back up all data, then remove Avast according to the developer's instructions. Restart.
If you tried to remove Avast by dragging an application to the Trash, you'll have to reinstall it and then follow the instructions linked above.

  • I'm having frequent long periods of "Firefox not responding" with 7.0.1. What's up with that?

I am using Window 7. What else would you like to know?

I might have discovered the solution without starting over with all your places and bookmarks.
Right after i installed 7.0.1 over a week ago, every 10-30 min When i would be watching videos online, it would freeze for 20-30 seconds. Firefox would say ( Not responding) both firefox and the plugin container process would be very large memory files. I tried to go back to Firefox 5.0. No avail it would still freeze.I tried to disable the plugin container . no good. I tried to adjust memory or cache or plugin settings in “about:config”.Nothing fixed it!
I finally discovered why my Firefox 7.01 was periodic hanging fix. It is something to do with some of your personal files. download this this add on and install it
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
or you can Google "places maintenance Firefox"
After you install the add on, restart Firefox.go to "tools", then "add ons" and then click “extensions” tab ,then click' options" on the "places maintenance" entry. choose "ALL' or just "expire" and hit "execute", then wait until its done., restart Firefox. should be fine then and all my bookmarks, customizations ,settings, and history stays untouched!
After i did this my Firefox did not freeze once for over 3 days straight. Might not work for everyone. I already read that Mozilla is aware of the problem and are working on a fix it in the full version of 8( the 8 beta did not fix the problem for me) . But they said this is a good temporary fix at least,( might be permanent)
For me at least ,Firefox works fine in 7 now. perfect actually. And many people i saw on similar forums had similar problems.
    Enjoy. Hope this helped

  • My 2-year old imac is not responding at log in, no matter what I click on.  Any suggestions?

It seized during a gmail session and nothing I tried would unseize it.  I powered down and unpugged.  At restart, everything seemed normal, but I got stopped at the login screen when nothing responded. Any suggestions on what I should try next?

    Hi KentR,
    Hows it going?
When you say your computer is not responding,  can you move the cursor by moving the mouse? If you try pressing volume up, do you hear a sound? Are you using wireless keyboard and mouse ? Or are you using a wired keyboard and mouse?
