Quasi newbie. simple task. embarrassed.

Question

i generally can fig things out by tooling around but i'm really time crunched. if someone wouldn't mind telling me how to do this your karma quotient will sky-rocket!
ok i have 3 already encoded files to lay into dvd studio pro.
1. a motion graphic sequence just naming the company. should auto play when you put in the disk.
should then transition right into
2. the title sequence of the film to which i need to add a "play" button
3. the film itself.
i know its ridiculous to ask this here but can someone tell me how to do this? i know its not hard.

What you seem to be describing is a reasonably standard sort of disc with individual chapter play and a play all. The only exception to that appears to be the need to have the menu, pause and play buttons on screen at all times. Is this correct? These controls all exist on the remote control handset, so I am not sure why you need to have them on screen all the time, unless you are making a kiosk application...
If so there are some considerations and options for you, but you really won't need to script it all that much, depending on the choices you make.
First off, the videos seem to be reasonably small, and as such could all fit into an individual menu for each clip. Instead of playing a track, play a menu - you can then have the buttons on screen all of the time... but there are caveats, such as what to do if the user presses the menu button on the remote control - typically, this will return them to the last track played if they are in a menu, so you'll want to prevent that happening.
However, you can also do this in a single track, and use buttons over video for the buttons on screen. The caveat is that the buttons will only appear between markers and only then if you do not skip through from marker to marker. If you do so, the subtitles will disappear (so therefore your buttons will) until the next time a marker is reached that has got a subtitle associated with it. This means that you want to add more markers so that skipping from chapter to chapter in your book means that you land on the chapter start marker, and almost immediately pass a second marker where the subs can be attached.
There is no need to add multiple tracks - you can achieve what you want with stories... just add the markers that belong to each book chapter to a single story, set your end jump for the story back to the master menu and point the menu buttons to the story container, not any chapter marker. This will then only play the markers inside that story and return to the menu. The 'play all' button can either point to the track itself, marker 1 on the track or you can create a final story and set all of the markers into that, pointing your play all button to that story. Stories do not double up your assets, but duplicating assets into different tracks will certainly do so.
There is quite a lot to get to grips with in your project, but in essence it boils down to a few things:
do you want to use buttons over video or play your clips in menus instead?
If BoV then you need to control the buttons - how would you expect the 'pause' to behave, for example?
If menus, how do you expect it to behave when a user presses the menu button on a remote control whilst they are in a menu?
If BoV, how will you keep subs on screen when you have a 'trigger happy chapter skipper' (source: Jay R, circa 2002)?
But other than that, it's pretty standard.
