QUERIES IN WORK BOOK

Hai,
can any 1 explain me
how many queries can we maintain in  workbooks?

Hi
You can insert as many queries as you want in the same workbook. There is no such restriction. But this will increase the size of workbook.

  • Migration of queries and work books to BI7

    Hi,
I would like to Migrate all the existing 3.X queries and work books to BI7.0 in Development box.
Is it possible to capture these changes into a transport request, if possible how do I capture.
    Please guide.
    Regards,
    Sharma. IVN

    Sharma,
Its better to collect all queries of a Infoprovider in a single request as u can avoid locking of dependent objects in different requests..Migrating workbooks would be tricky if u have any macros.Have a look at below links on migrating front-end objects

    Help will be greatly appreciated..
    This is very urgent
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi,
May be you are telling is correct but i am unable to follow..
Please correct if my understanding is wrong....
    1. I have Created one BEx Truck Request...it is not Released so far..So, it is there in SE09 of BW DEV
    2. Selected Queried and work books --- Grouping --- Only necessary objects -- Collection mode -- automatic...(Default all queries and workbooks selected as check box)
    3. Click Transport truck (Which is beside of Grouping Option)..
    4. Created one request and then released... But not imported into BW Production..
    5. Now I have modified all the queried (Change text)
    6. RSA1 -- Transport connection -- Selected modified queried...
    7. Grouping only necessary objects and collected mode --automatic...
    8. Selected modified queries and dragged into right side...
My question here is they are not checked check box under transport?...shall i check it?
Shall i release Old BEx Request? and then before transporting these new modified queries Create another BEx Request?
    or else..
Create new request for modified Queries? and then transport?
Now the situation is i have already created transport request for modified queries..What to do? shall i release them also?...
    Pls suggest me....

    Hi James,
    According to BI 7.0 Version
Steps of creating workbook and to insert more than one query in a workbook.
When you run a query and it opens in Bex Analyzer you can click the save button and pick "Save as Workbook".
Once you save it as a workbook Click on the "Design Mode" button in the Bex toolbar (looks like an A).
Click in the sheet where you want the new query to go, click the "Analysis Grid" button. It will add the analysis grid to your new sheet.
Right click on the Analysis grid and go to properties.
Click on button to change data provider and select the query you want to attach.
Exit design mode and you should be all set.

  • Embedding 2 queries within the same tab in a work-book?

    Hi Experts,
Is it possible to embedd multible queries within a single tab in a Workbook?i.e. can we define a cell range in which a particular query is to be embedded and a different cell range within the same tab for another query?
    Thanks
    Aravind

    Hi,
    It is very much possible.
Just insert the 2 queries at different places and save the work book.
In the properties you can so the the result of the 2 queries do not overwrite and ouput is adjusted accordingly.

  • Link queries dynamically in a work book

    Hi,
I have a workbook which has two queries (both of type transaction data), embedded. Both of them have a document number which is unique and could exist in both the queries. I want to link the two queries and in my third sheet in the work book I want to print Key figure values of both the queries if two key characteristics ex: doc number and date are the same. Please let me know if there is any thing to be done in the Bex analyzer side other than a "Vlookup" in excel.
    Thanks

You can use excel macros to achieve this.

5.Insert new worksheet in the same workbook
6.Insert an Analysis Item in the second worksheet->Go to Properties of Analysis item. Here it will list the Data Provider which is already assigned for the analysis item in sheet1.You have to assign new query by clicking "Create Data Prvoder" Icon. This will assign the second query to the analysis item in second worksheet

    Thanks,

    Hi,
I am not sure how to do it in browser but if you have workbook id and you want to know all the queries inside it, then follow the below given procedure,
Goto table RSRWORKBOOK put your workbook id and collect all the GENUNIID's.
Now goto table RSRREPDIR and copy all the GENUNID's you will get required list of queries.

  • Work Book creation in BI

    Hi,
How to create work books in bi.

    Hi Nagendra,
You can call up the BEx Query Designer in the BEx Analyzer, in order to define queries.
Subsequently, you can analyze the selected InfoProvider data by navigation to the query created in the Query Designer and create different query views of the data.
You can add the different query views for a query or for different queries to a work book and save them there.
You can save the workbook in your favorites or in your role on the BW Server.
You can also save the workbook locally on your computer.
Beyond that, you can precalculate the workbook and distribute it by e-mail to recipeients or you can export it to the Enterprise Portal and make it accessible to other employees in the company.
