I am panning take certification exam on ADF 11g.
while searching for this exam i found 1Z0-554(ADF 11g essentials) and oracle application certified implementation specialist
I am working on ADF for 3 rears,can i directly take the oracle application certified implementation specialist?
is it mandatory to take 1Z0-554(ADF 11g essentials) ?

the exam 1Z0-554 is the exam you have to take to get the
'Oracle Application Development Framework 11g Certified Implementation Specialist'
certification.

I read this document. It covers unnecesary knowledge for exam, but doesn't explain how this exam form looks like. Let's see an issue; "Explain the benefits of adding service methods at the application module level (rather than at the view level) Learner Create a test client for testing your custom code" . This is a wide content that require description rather than choice test.

If u have a good domain in SD then Cert. in SD will help u.
Companies look for the Good domain while recruting freshers.

How to map complex queries to ADF

I have an SQL query that I would like to map to ADF business components but am having difficulty.
The query is:

I don't know if I should use one view object for the inner query or one view object for the whole query. Whatever I try I still have problems with the ViewLink.
To make matters more complicated parameters 1 and 3 are identical as are parameters 2 and 4.
Can anyone help?

if the problem is that you cannot execute the query in teh BC4J tester, then this is because it doesn't support testing with parameters.
Another way of doing what you want is to create two EO and then have the VO select the attributes from both. However, to do the filtering you still need to add parameters to the query.

ADF how to display a processing page when executing large queries
The ADF application that I have written currently has the following structure:
DataPage (search.jsp) that contains a form that the user enters their search criteria --> forward action (doSearch) --> DataAction (validate) that validates the inputted values --> forward action (success) --> DataAction (performSearch) that has a refresh method dragged on it, and an action that manually sets the itterator for the collection to -1 --> forward action (success) --> DataPage (results.jsp) that displays the results of the then (hopefully) populated collection.
I am not using a database, I am using a java collection to hold the data and the refresh method executes a query against an Autonomy Server that retrieves results in XML format.
The problem that I am experiencing is that sometimes a user may submit a query that is very large and this creates problems because the browser times out whilst waiting for results to be displayed, and as a result a JBO-29000 null pointer error is displayed.
I have previously got round this using Java Servlets where by when a processing servlet is called, it automatically redirects the browser to a processing page with an animation on it so that the user knows something is being processed. The processing page then recalls the servlet every 3seconds to see if the processing has been completed and if it has the forward to the appropriate results page.
Unfortunately I can not stop users entering large queries as the system requires users to be able to search in excess of 5 million documents on a regular basis.
I'd appreciate any help/suggestions that you may have regarding this matter as soon as possible so I can make the necessary amendments to the application prior to its pilot in a few weeks time.

The Quick Start Guide to Fusion Development JDeveloper and Oracle ADF - written by me!
The JDeveloper Handbook - Mills et all
The Fusion Developer Guide - Nimphius and Munsinger.
Having been involved in developing the exam, any of the books will help you. If you want to get some practical experience on ADF (which is important for the exam) then we will be announcing a new set of collateral to help you - I will announce this on my blog, hopefully next week. Several attempts are required to close ADF Panel called from JButton.

I have created an ADF Panel, which allows the user to run a few simple queries against an Oracle database done using ADF view objects and ADF view links and ADF application module.
Here is the description of my problem, I am sorry about the length of the description, this is the shortest I could come up with:
I have several runable ADF panels. For example I have Panel2 which displays the results of a few queries from ADF view links. In Panel1 I drag and drop Panel2 to Display as Jdialog from button. So Panel1 displays the result of a few view links and also displays a clickable button which opens another window and displays the content of panel2.
So far everything woks fine. Now I create an empty ADF form called MainForm, in which I drag and drop Panel1 as Jdialog from button. So when I run MainForm it displays a clickable button which opens another window and displays the content of panel1 in which as described earlier, I have another clickable button which opens and displays the content of panel2.
My problem starts here, the first call to Panel1 and from there to panel2 works fine. When I close Panel2 and Panel1, and click again on Panel1 from MainForm for the second time and from there I click on Panel2, then closing Panel2 becomes a problem. I click to close panel2, it closes and it opens again, I click to close for a second time and then it closes. Now I am back on Panel1 which closes fine with just one attempt.
Now I am back at MainForm, click on Panel1 again then from Panel1 on Panel2. Click to close Panel2, it closes and it opens again, I click to close for a second and third time and then it closes. And so on, each time closing attempts on Panel2 increments by 1 each time you go back to MainForm and click on Panle1 then Panel2.
Any idea what might be causing this behavior? And how to prevent it?

And where do I define it?
Is there not an existing pre-defined function from Jdev such as panelBinding.clearIterBindings() that I can include in my code to clear the ADF panel when closed. I would like to think that this must exist already. And why is panelBinding.clearIterBindings() does not do this, the name surely leaves you to believe that this is exactly what it is supposed to do.

Firefox 4 support in ADF

Hi,
Is Firefox 4 officially supported by ADF (11.1.1.4)?
I am aware the IE 9 is not currently supported, is there a rough estimate for when the next release of JDeveloper/ADF will be out?

Note that lately Firefox started releasing patches as major versions - so it is going to be harder to have the ADF certification updated as frequently. If however you see something in ADF Faces that doesn't work with a new version of a browser please file a support ticket.
One note on right-to-left - this is officially supported in IE only I believe.

SAP BPC Certification

Hi Experts,
I am not sure if this is the right forum to discuss SAP BPC related queries and about certification for the same. If not please direct me to right forum.
So here is my query regarding certification.
Looked at SAP's curricula.. I can find BPC 7.5 certification. But it requires one to have attended both netweaver and MS version.
Do we know if there is only netweaver based certifcation?

Not that I am aware of, if there is a seperate Certification for NW and MS versions available.

TopLink ADF binding named query parameterised

What is the easieast way to execute parameterised named queries using TopLink and ADF databinding?
Better yet what would be the best practice to combine parametrised named queries with ADF data binding/controls. Data Binding Primer document is geared mostly towards BC rather than TopLink, any similar docs for TopLink that would have detailed "HowTo's" ? Application Developer Guide does not mention binding/controls.

The easiest way is to define a query on the model object (e.g. Employee) and then regenerate the toplink deployment descriptor and the datacontrol.
This should expose the new query to the Datacontrol pallete. You can then use drag and drop to use the new query on the jsp/struts etc.
If you have a query that takes in arguments, you may want to look at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/shmeltzer/setwhereclause/index.html
Basically it boils down to passing text etc. to the arguments of your query.

ADF BC and XMLType

Is there a way to use xmltype queries with ADF BC view objects (JDeveloper 10.1.3.x and DB 10gR2)?
We would like to base some view objects on sqlxml queries, but it seems that it is not possible without converting it to a clob (or string). Any suggestions?
e.g.:
