Queries on the 9iAS

Hi ,
Could any body explain me the 9iAS architecture. I would like to know the following.
1. Where will web cache fit in ? This needs to be installed before HTTP server, does this needs to be installed in a separate machine or in HTTP server itself or will it be in a client machine
2. What is DB cache for. Does this cache the data or it is used to cache FMX.
3. How can i deploy my forms 6.0 application thru oracle 9iAS
You might have understood i am confused about the architecute. IF any body can respond to this it will be great.

Web Cache can be installed on the same machine as your HTTP server or on a dedicated node in front of your HTTP server(s). See the Web Cache Administration and Deployment Guide, available on OTN, for more info.
DB Cache caches read-only relational content on mid-tier servers.
There are whitepapers and faq's on OTN that address all of your questions regarding caching, forms, etc.

Service desk: Hide links (queries) in the work center view

Hi,
we are using the service desk towards our customers.
Basically we have to sets of roles: one for consultants (ourselves) and one for our customers.
Our customers are entering the service desk through a web-interface.
If the consultants enters the web-interface, they can see reports and queries to the left, and they can open and edit tickets.
If the customers enters the web-interface, they cannot see queries and reports in the left navigation bar, and they can not open and edit tickets.
Now we need a third possibility:
A customer need to open and edit tickets, but they should not be allowed to define (or even execute) queries.
Because when they can define queries, they get access to see all other customers tickets. And that is not good.
How to obtain this?

Based on your comments, I take it that you may not implementing a formal first level support who can perform these tasks as recommended by solman standard. If you are, your customer can request reassignment using their reply option, and the support tech performs the task. You can implement some sort of email notification process to inform the new BP.
Alternatively, I can suggest two modifications if you have a developer at your disposal:
1) in your solution manager system, clone the incident create web dynpro to ensure population of the required fields to the customer and to suit your requirement. Here you can also remove the SU15 text id checks.
2) in your satellite system, modify the function group which triggers the create incident process and have it launch the cloned web dynpro above.
My apologies, I don't have access to a solman system immediately to give you the exact object names for the above suggestions.

A few queries regarding the beauty that is Nokia 5...

I got this beautiful lil machine a lil over a week back. It looks lovely, and sounds even better. And even though, being a student/intern, it cost me more than my monthly salary, I am mighty pleased I got it. And despite the opposition before, it's a great hit, both at home and work.
Just a few queries regarding the usage from my experience so far, the answers to which I could not find in this forum and a few other review sites. [Apologies if I'd missed something.]
1- First, the battery. It only lasts for a little over a day on full charge. From what I'd heard and read, it looked like it should last quite a bit a more, atleast 2 full days. The phone even hung up a couple of times, while recording/playing video. Upon which I had to remove and reinsert the battery. How seriously wrong is this ?
2- How do you forcefully exit an application, if need be ? It suggests in the guide, and from the reviews I read, there's supposed to be an exit and a start button with the applications when you bring up the task manager. Where're they?
3- There's this option where you can insert a Slideshow as your Wallpaper. But when I go to it, select the desired images, [ Tried various random images, yes ]it only shows Options and Back button, when select Back, it just goes, well, back. Nothing really happens to the wallpaper. How does that work ?
4- This might seem like a petty issue, but it can be pretty annoying. Once you go to Options and tell it you are marking, e.g. in the Inbox or the File Manager, how do you mark multiple items, WITHOUT having to go to Options >Mark >Mark/Unmark for each item ? What's the point of having a seperate Marking option in the first place then, when I could just Move or Delete each item seperately anyway.
5- And last, any news on a free full version of a document viewer ? From what I looked up, it costs around US$70, which is about a quarter of the phone's purchase price itself. And that's not a modest sum, that too for a basic application such as this, for a anyone with my status.
Just so any prospective buyer or amateur user such as myself doesn't get scared off by the seemingly long list of inquiries, the phone's an absolute pleasure to use. Specially, for someone with their first Touchscreen/Symbian experience. I got this phone after a LOT of research, both online and in the field. And it's bloody well worth it so far.
I know, it's a huge post, but you'd have my utmost gratitude for an accurately detailed response. Thankyou. =)

Why of course. Something happening to your phone during the process would brick it, not to mention that the attempt would install something in your phone that voids the warranty, meaning that you just made yourself a very expensive paperweight. ^_^. We're not really allowed to talk about it, other than the fact that with the above possibility, I strongly advise you not to do so. There is a way to do it without hacking it. I know of people who have managed to do it without hacking, but it was on the 5800. Hmm, ok, maybe they'll work for you too though.

How to Add 3 queries in the same work book?

Hi Gurus,
Can any one tell How to Add 3 queries in the same work book?
Example, daily report,Monhly and yearly reports for sales should be in the same workbook.
Please help me if any one have a pointer or a how to doc if available.

Hi James,
According to BI 7.0 Version
Steps of creating workbook and to insert more than one query in a workbook.
When you run a query and it opens in Bex Analyzer you can click the save button and pick "Save as Workbook".
Once you save it as a workbook Click on the "Design Mode" button in the Bex toolbar (looks like an A).
Click in the sheet where you want the new query to go, click the "Analysis Grid" button. It will add the analysis grid to your new sheet.
Right click on the Analysis grid and go to properties.
Click on button to change data provider and select the query you want to attach.
Exit design mode and you should be all set.

How to insert two queries in the same workbook in new BI 7.0 Bex web analy

Hi,
You need to switch to design mode (BEx Analyser Menu - Design Toolbar - Design Mode). For each query that you want to embed, insert an analysis grid item in the workbook. Link each analysis grid to its corresponding data provider (query).

Filter the content on different queries for the same infoprovider and user

Hello,
We are trying to make the following security scenario in BI, and have
problem with the analysis object concept to filter at query level.
The idea is to permit to :
- user A
  - to execute query Q1 and view information about sites 1,2,3
  - to execute query Q2 and view information about sites 4,5,6
but for example for another user :
- user B
  - to execute query Q1 and view information about site 1,3
  - to execute query Q2 and view information about site 5,6,7
Q1 and Q2 are queries from the same infoprovider.
The idea is to make an automatic generation of analysis objects based
on the standard program : RSEC_GENERATE_AUTHORIZATIONS.
During tests, we have faced a problem with the object 0TCTQUERY that we
thought will permit us to filter at the query level, but unless we add
the name on the query on a role in the S_RS_COMP authorization object,
field RSZCOMPID, the query is not granted to the user.
The fact that we use both authorization objects : one for the query
definition, and another for the analysis authorization concept
(S_RS_AUTH, field BIAUTH), has disastrous effect : all values given in
the analysis objects are for all queries of an indicated infoprovider.
With that system, it's then not possible to propose dynamically different
views of the same data (ie from same infoprovider) based on the
authorization concept unless using the technic of customer-exit variable,
but with variable you will have a problem with old queries that doesn't
have a variable and that will permit to see all data given in the new
authorization objects.
Is there exists another object to filter at the query level in the
analysis objects ? If it's not the case, what is possible to do to reach
our goal with the new authorization concept ?

The data is protected on infoprovider level and not on the query level, so when two querys are build from the same Infoprovider then the authorizations are the same,
To achieve what you want to do, the querys must be built off different providers.   This can be achieved by placing the infoprovider in 2 differnt multiproviders and building the querys and authorizations seperatly on these.

Queries on the web

All users by default run BEx queries. Web templates have not been defined. Can the users still run the queries on the web and if so how? Do they also have the option to save the query as a favorite? Thanks

yes, there is button 'display query on web (shiftctrlw)' after V and X. you will get a URL like
http://server:port/sap/bw/BEx?sap-language=EN&bsplanguage=EN&CMD=LDOC&INFOCUBE=infocubename&QUERY=xxx&VARIABLE_SCREEN=..&DUMMY=..
you should have your bw web-enabled.
it's running on browser, no option to save as favorite, but they can add in bex analyzer.

Workbook: overlapping of 2 queries in the same sheet

I've 1 Workbook and I want to insert 2 queries in the same sheet.
The query B must follow the query A.
Now, I've inserted the query B bottom of query A.
When refresh the workbook query B don't follow in a dynamic way the end of Result Area of query A.
The final result is an overlapping of query A on query B!!!
Do you know a solution of this problem?

Hi Claudio, I hope that Eugene's answer fixed your problem.
Another solution is: move the result area of query 2 each time that query 1 is finished refreshing.
To do this, you need to know the local queryID of each query. Let's assume that the one which refreshes first has local queryID of SAPBEXq0001 and the one which refreshes second is SAPBEXq0002.
If this be the case (and it probably is not, so please check!), then BW knows the location of each query's result area using a Name in the Excel Workbook's Names collection. The names are:
SAPBEXqueries!SAPBEXq0001
SAPBEXqueries!SAPBEXq0002
When query 1 refreshes, BW will run a Subroutine named SAPBEXonRefresh. Find that subroutine, and in it, add the following code.

0PA_C01 different results from two queries on the same cube ....

i am running a two queries with the same restrictions e.g
Sep 08 for employee 22345 ,
In one report it shows the Pay Scale level as A1 , then in the other report it shows Pay scale Scale level as A2 ,
looking at the master data in 0employee , the first report is right ... this is how the data looks like in 0employee
Employee Valid from      To                Pay scale Level
222345       2007-11-03   2008-09-30     A1
222345       2008-10-01   9999-12-31     A2
Can someone please shed some light on this , im thinking it has something to do with update rule but even that is supposed to use last date of the month , not 1st day of the following month. The Cube is a stndard cube 0PA_C01 and the update rule aswell .....

Please check in the cube whether the data for the Employee is getting with two values like shown in your question:
Employee Valid from To Pay scale Level
222345 2007-11-03 2008-09-30 A1
222345 2008-10-01 9999-12-31 A2
and also check whether when the data loaded to the cube.
There may be some change in the report structure where the difference is getting may in the column wise or row wise restriction may present.
Please check on the structure of the report also.

Query hanging when queries in the resultset of UNION returned no rows

Hi all,
I have a query like this.
Select * from table a
UNION
select * from table b
UNION
select * from table c
UNION
select * from table d
table a, table b, table c has some rows of data.
table d does'nt have any data.
so,
when i do union
of results of table a,table b and table c, I will get the results.
But when I include the UNION of table d(which is not having rows), Then the query is hanging.
Please help me in this regard.

In the above query,
only first 2 select select statements is having some data.
Next select statements does'nt return any data.
If we execute the select queries from the above query independently, It will execute within no time.
as i told only first 2 queries are having the data.
other sql queries does'nt have any data.
But if i union all the queries, query is hanging.
I am executing the query through SQL developer connecting to the database located in the Remote location.

Linking two Queries but the values are corrupted

I have started linking two queries from the same Cube. The invoiced value from the pre-query shows the correct value from SAP. When I use this prequery into another query and look at the same invoiced value key figure, the result has changed and is not correct anymore. Please advise what I am doing wrong.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi Bhanu, the replacement path is on the Dimension Sales Document. I have tried to use the same variable on the Key Figure Net Value (Invoice). I also tried for a later attempt to use a different Key Figure in the prequery as net weight, just in case they added together.
Am I right that I should be using the same key figure Net Value (Invoice) in both queries?

How to stop Execution of Queries when the Browser closed in middle?

Hi,
I have JSP search page, which takes search parameters from previous page runs queries and display the results. I am using connection pool to connect to AS400 database.
The problem I am facing is... The query still runs on database server, when the user closes browser before getting the search results.
I am closing all my statements and returning connection to pool at the end of the JSP page.
Is there any way to terminate the execution of the queries, when the user closes browser?

Allright.
As you know there is no direct way to catch that event, you will have to do this workaround :
1. Create a class which implements HttpSessionBindingListener. The valueUnbound method will have flag or code to stop running query.
2. Instantiate this in your search page, and add it into session.
3. Add javascript in search JSP to access another(dummy) JSP on unload event(to catch browser closing) something like:
function unload()
location.href = "/kill.jsp";
4. The code in dummy JSP will remove the object from session, and will fire valueUnbound method.

Is there a way to pass an array or structure for example as parameters, in addition to a query, or multiple queries to the Report Builder in CF8? I believe this was recommended by users to be in CF8.

Although it's been a while, I thought I'd provide the code to do this for you. It works for me in CF8, and probably will in CF7.
Here I create a structure called My, and provide that one parameter to my CFReportParam tag.

Inside the report itself, reference the given parameter as Param.My.PageHeaderImage for example. It can be referenced that way from any expression inside the report builder. You can even use the queries as the data source for charts (using the Data From a Query -> Query Builder -> Advanced) by entering "Param.My.GetPieSummary" where it says "Variable containing query object".

Can Business Object Access Queries from the BI query designer?

Hi Gurus,
I've started working with BOBJ and honestly I'm not impressed with it's functionalities, specially with the report layouts (SO many limitations!!). Anyway I was wondering if Business Objects can access BI Queries in the Query Designer since I can do most of the manupilation in Query Designer that I need. Thank You in advance and any help will be most certainly appreciated.

Prompts on reports build on direct queries to the database

Hi,
Is there a way to create prompts to reports that have been built based on direct queries to the database rather than using a cube?
I did not find a way to do it, maybe it is not possible at all?

ok. lets go step by step.
im assuming that you know how to create a prompt. in the prompt add all the column you wanted i.e
a.resv_status,a.begin_date,b.last
select control as "Drop Down list". leave "Show" and "Default to" as defaults. in the set variable select presentation variable and type some name. so lets assume for
1, a.resv_status variable is resv_status_var
2, a.begin_date is begin_date_var
3, b.last is last_var.
save the prompt.
now your query is
select distinct c.room, b.last, b.first, a.resv_status,a.confirmation_no, a.begin_date, a.end_date,d.departure_date as last_stay
from reservation_name a, name b, reservation_stat_daily c,stay_records d
where a.name_id=b.name_id
and a.name_id=c.name_id

where 02 is the default value. you can change it as you want. now save the report. go to a dashboard page and add the prompt and report you created in to a same page. now changing the values in prompt will change the report.
