Queries Regarding Organization Structure in SAP.

Hi,
I have a query regarding the ORG structure.
Can a sales & marketing organization be created in same organization structure in CRM 5.0 ?
My requirement is to create a Sales & marketing Department in a company say 'SK Co.'
Once these are defined then the respective sales hierarchy can be created like for 'sales' ; Sales organization, Sales office , Sales group.
I tried to define the 'Company'  a the top level of hierarchy but there the function is by default selected as 'Sales'. Due to which If I define any entry below it , it always remains in Sales . The structure is as follows:
1) >SK Company (Top Node)
2) >>Sales & Marketing Deprtment
3) >>>Sales Department
>>>>North Region Sales Org.
>>>>East Region Sales Org.
>>>>West Region Sales Org.
>>>>South Region Sales Org
4) >>>Marketing Department
>>>>Channel Export
Thanks In advance.

Hi ,
How did you manage to define a org structure where main node has no function.
There has to be at least one function :Sales, Service or marketing.
Can I create a Top node in organisation structure without a function ?
If yes, How ?
Thanks for your time.

  • Organizational structure of SAP

I  would like to know the ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE IN SAP.Plz send me ASAP.Thanks in advance.</b>Regards
    Raj

    Hi,
The organizational structure in SAP looks like this:
                                    CLIENT = GROUP
                  _______________|________________
    COMPANY CODE                             COMPANY CODE
                                                  _____________|________________
                                             PLANT           PRODUCTION        DEPARTMENT
The definition of client and company code stands as follows:
<b>Client (Cross Application)</b>A client in R/3 is a technical entity containing configuration,  master data and transactions for an organization. For example the organization may designate Client 100 in the production system PRD as the client in which data may be entered. Other clients may be used for development, testing and training.
    <b>Company Code</b>
The Company Code is the smallest organizational unit for which a complete self-contained set of accounts can be drawn up for purposes of external reporting.
Please feel free to reverse back.
Reward points if this is useful to you.

  • Integrating EC organizational structure with SAP OM

    Hi experts,
Do you know if someone has successfully integrated EC Organizational Structure with SAP HCM OM Structure? I mean cases when the organizational struture is created and maintained in SuccessFactors and then transferred to SAP HCM OM (organizational units, positions, holders) in order to avoid double maintenance in SAP. Is there for instance an iFlow delivered by SAP to help with the integration? Just wondered if this kind of integration is worth trying or if it would too complicated.
    Thanks,
    Anna

You should read the EC to SAP ERP integration handbook (found at http://service.sap.com/ec-ondemand) as there are certain caveats regarding field lengths, etc. Ensure that your enterprise structure in Employee Central makes sense from an SAP perspective, because certain objects (e.g. a Department) can be shared by multiple parent objects (e.g. Divisions) and you need to ensure it will make sense in SAP in terms of workflows etc.

  • Organizational structures in SAP

    Hello,
I am beginner in SD module and would be posting basic questions.
Why should we define Organizational structures in SAP?
    Thank you

Organizational structures must be defined in SAP to represent the structure of the organization. These structures can be defined independently for each functional area of the system. For example, the sales department will want to define sales organizations, distribution channels and divisions (product groups), while the purchasing department will want to define purchasing organizations, plants and storage locations. Independent of these structures, a structure must be defined in financial accounting (FI) that represents the legal reporting entity. This structure is represented by the company code. The balance sheet and the profit and loss statement are prepared for the company code.
Functional areas and organizational structures include:
    Functional area Organizational structure
Sales and distribution -> Sales organization, distribution channel, division, sales area, ...
Financial accounting -> Company code, chart of accounts, business area, ...
Logistics -> Purchasing organization, purchasing group, plant, storage location,...
Controlling -> Controlling area, cost centre, profit centre, ...
Human resources -> Personnel area, employee group, employee subgroup, ...
General data that is used by all company codes is stored at a client level. This means that data valid for all functional areas needs to be stored only once (eg vendor name and address is stored at the client level whilst payment terms may vary for each company code).
Organizational structures can be used to control access to processing within the organization. For example, users can be restricted to process documents for their own company code only.

  • Regarding directory structure in sap

At OS level in which directory oracle alerts are stored?

    Hi Praveen,
just some additional information for your question.
The most important information is written to the alert_<SID>.log. In an SAP environment you usually place this log under %SAPDATA_HOME%\saptrace\background (Windows), $SAPDATA_HOME/saptrace/background for Linux/Unix.
If you cannot find it there then you are not using the default location for the alert_<SID>.log. In this case you need to check the value of the oracle parameter background_dump_dest  - the value of this parameter tells you where the alert_<SID>.log is written to. You can check this by logging on to the database and showing the parameter:
    sqlplus "/as sysdba"
    show parameter background_dump_dest
If an error occurs that requires additional logs to be written then you can find them under %SAPDATA_HOME%\saptrace\background or %SAPDATA_HOME%\saptrace\usertrace
But if Oracle writes some traces to the last 2 directories mentioned, you will see an explicit information about this in the alert_<SID>.log,  e.g.
    Tue Sep 27 08:34:58 2005
    Errors in file /oracle/Q72/saptrace/usertrace/q72_ora_27044.trc:
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [stsRelSlot_1], [], [], [],

  • Regarding organizational structure

Actual plan was to create one purchase org at compcode level for purchasing raw materials  and 8 plant level purchase organizations for consumable goods and other services.
But proposal was made to change the plan to the below :
There would be two purchase organizations at company code level, instead of having 8 plant level purchase organizations.
One for direct purchasing for the raw materials.
Second one for inderect purchasing, for consumable goods,   where in each plant people responsible for purchasing would be made as a purchasing group.
So a total of 8 purchasing groups for inderect purchasing and 1 purchasing for direct purchasing group.
I have never done this way,
Can some one let me know adv or disadv for going with the proposed design.
    Rgds.
Edited by: vinay k on Dec 2, 2008 6:39 PM

In think, from my experience the second option having two purchasing org is the best one.
If it is assigned to plant this can be used by only one plant.
    P. org assigning to Ccode, this can be used by all the plants assigned to the CC.
There can be many process, conditions(pricing) are same at company code /P org.
So these aspects will remain better, than creating or changing for every plant.
you can create central contracts and can be used by many plants under the same umberella.
There could be more benefits.which you are no aware of at this point.
FYI- SAP recommends P.org assigment to Ccode

    Sir,
What are the different organization structure of SAP(Inbuilt), so that we can use in different scenarious. like company code, sales organization, etc
    Thanks and Regards
    Kamal

    Hello,
    Welcome to SDN,
If you have access to SAP system or IDES.
Then if you want know which existing org structure can be used in system then,
    There is two way:
    - Checking existing org structure in use through accessing Table VBAK (TCode SE16).
    OR
    - if its a fresh IDES then
    use TCode EC01.
click on Structure Button on organizational object company code screen.
click on Navigation Button organizational structure for company code screen
    Accept the message
Double click on standard Company code 0001 or 1000.
I hope this can assist you.
    All the best.
    Keep learning and enjoy.

  • Sap organizational structure

    Dear Frndz,
Plz help me out with organizational structure for SAP PP.
    Regards,
    Srini

    Hi,
In PP you dont have any mandatory Organization structure to be maintained. Same MM organization structure (plant, storage loction etc) would be used in PP also.Since customization starts at Plant level in PP so, the one which is used for MM applies to PP also.

  • Organization Structure

    Hi,
I am new to SAP and I have some fundamental doubts. I want to know about the organization structure in Controlling module. Do we need to create a Controlling Area for each Company code? How many Operating concerns are to be created if there are four company codes?
    Thanks in advance
    Raghu

    Hi
The designing and creation of a Organization structure in SAP is a very crucial and a critical decision. Once the Organization structure is designed and configured it is extremely difficult to change it. Also note that once transaction data is posted it is difficult to change the organization structure.
The number of Controlling Areas and Operating Concerns does not depend on Company Codes. In designing a Organization structure, we should take a comprehensive and integrated view of all modules like SD/MM/FICO etc. As long as fiscal year variant / Chart of Accounts are same multiple Company Codes can be assigned to one Controlling.
In Controlling Organization Structure, highest level is Operating Concern and under that Controlling Areas are assigned and Company Codes are assigned to Controlling Area.
In most Business Scenarios one Operating Concern and Controlling Area will meet the Business requirements.
    Thanks
    Murali.
