Designing SD queries or any queries depends on client requirement (refer report template) and you design query on top of IC/DSO/Multiprovider mostly with effective performance.
Use following Bex Functions and design query. understand each function properly and use them to improve query performance.
-     Generate index.
-     Build query on multiprovider and better use Constant Selection Function to bring infoset functionality to Multiprovider.
-     Make your query more dynamic using variables.
-     Do partitioning on IC when you have restriction on 0CALMONTH.
-     Use more free charecterstics.
-     Use include than exclude at Bex level.
-     Utilize Cache mode and Read mode functions.

Addiontal Characteristic to be included in Querry Designer

Dear BI Experts,
    I have Info-Cube which has exactly 10 characterisc, i create querry for this info-cube already.
    Later then, I change the cube and add mor 1 characteristic, IS it possible for me to include the new characteristic in the querry, or do I have to create new querry and delete old querry.
    Please advice solutions.

Hi,
There is absolutely no need to create a new query.
When you do changes in the backend (underlying info providers) the changes get automatically reflected on the front end (query designer).
Just close your query designer and open it again, you will find the new characteristic that you added in the query designer under the same dimension as present in the cube.

Report Formula issue is Querry Designer

Hi ,
In my report I have
I am designing in query Designer.
col1    col2   col4 col5
1.5      1.0
2.5      1.0
1.5      2.0
3.5      3.0
1.0      5.0
10 .0     12.0
Now I want in in 1st row col4 : (1.5/10.0) *100
                           2nd row of col4 = (2.5/10)*100 and so on
Similarly I want in in 1st row col5 : (1.0/12.0) *100 and so on
I have tried many formulas/% functions.But not getting data exactly
Can anybody suggest me.

I have put the same formula already. But I am getting the required result in the final last column where all col sum is displayed in yellow colour.
For each column it is divided based on that final column and i am getting that value.
I am getting now :
col1    col2      clo3   col4     final col     final col%
1         5%       2       10%        3            15%
3       15%       3       15%        6            30%
6       30%       5       25%      11            55%

But I need like below

Virtual provider with services

Hi experts,
we have the same query on virtual cube(with services) and BW loacal cube.Both local cube and virtual cube contains the same data. But both are showing different query results.
that is virtual provider query is not displaying all the values in master data table.
for example we have 10 brands under one company code, the virtual cube query is only showing 5 among them. I would like to see all the values without any restrictions, so can you please guide me.
when i checked from tcode /listcube it is displaying all the values without any restriction.

My question is if u have same data in the both cubes ( virtal&Basic) u can create querry on u r basic cube only. But this not answer.
R u using same conditions on both cubes. Means In querry designer.
When u r using the virtual cube(with services) it is generally create on function module, this module properly maintainning the complete master data or not? Check it.

SPP: Demand Data uploaded into cube but not visible in screen

Hi,
I am working on SCM 5.0 in a test environment.
I had loaded the sample test data using csv file. The data is visibile in the both multiprovders.
9ARAWMUL AND 9ADEMMUL( in txn rsa1)
Also in the transaction : /sapapo/sppdmrd- i can see the raw data history
But for the same selection paramter i cannot see any data in sapapo/sppdmdh- adjust demand history.
Can somebody help?

Hi Nithi,
Did you checked in Listcube if data is available for that plant.
Also try running the querry in RSRT and check whether you are using any querry variable for it.
Please check in querry designer if you have any exclude selection for the plant.

BI IP input ready query not working

Hello,
I have created an input ready query on a aggregation level and am trying to create a planing application using analyzer.
However the query is not opening in inout ready mode at all. I have checked the setting in Querry design and it is ready for input.

I think problem with the buffer. I have two option for you. Please check it and let me know if you need any further help.
1) Check the notes 1136163, 1138864, 1146957, 1179076.
In case of no other solution, You can use program RSR_GEN_DIRECT_ALL_QUERIES with proper variant for query generation. You can automate this process using a process chain.
2)please check the below;
Delta buffer query in RSRT for BI-IP ("<infoprovider>/!!1<infoprovider>)

Parameter issue with multiple values

Hi all,
Goal of report : generate the sales amount per sales region (north/sud) based on the input payment amount. For example input parameter 400 --> I want all sales amount > 400. Same for other values

In my querry designer I have the Regional Office, Year Week and Payment amount parameter defined (no dimension, no hierarchy, multiple values, default examples 100, 400).
However, there is something not working, who can help me out please? When I use > 400 instead of @PAR_Payment_Amount it works ofcourse.

I would open Profiler, connect to SSAS, the grab the Query Begin event. It should show you what values are being passed in as parameters (in some XML visible at the bottom of the query) then you can manually replace the parameters with hardcoded values
and test the query.

Seeburger BIC mapping designer : querry

Hi,
 We have installed the SeeBurger BIC adapter. I have a querry regarding the mapping that we specify as a parameter to the BIC module in the modules tab of the communication channel.
 Are there standard mappings provided with the installation for EDI -> XML and vice versa , and we simply need to provide the name of the mapping that needs to be used or do we need to develop the mappings from scratch using the BIC mapping designer.
 If the first case is true then how to get the names of all the mappings that are provided so that we can make out which one do we need to use. If it is not so please help me with the BIC mapping designer manual path on the installation as we are not able to figure out the path to the manual.

one thing, "BIC" is not a seeburger adapter type.
You need to deploy BIC Mappings in your XI server.
You have to refer Seeburger manuals for this.
2.lets say if we have developed mappping with BIC MD ,then do we need to develop mapping with XI mapper too or its not needed?but if we do mapping with Xi then data format will be of xml but it needs to be converted to/from EDI ,so how it can be possible just with XI maping and no BIC MD mapping?

First you need to use BIC Mapping in modules which will convert your EDIFACT format to EDI-XML.
After this you need to Apply XI Mapping Which will Convert EDI-XML to your IDOC-XML.i.e. your mapping program.

Unable to view report from Bex Report Designer

Hi,
When I log on to Bex Report Designer, I click execute button, it is giving a blank page. It is neither giving any error nor any message. We have recently installed NW2004s and BI Cont 703. Now my problem is how to make report visible in the BEX Report Designer.

I have religiously followed your Blog. As far as I know any one who wanna setup BEx has to follow this. It is the one place where all the settings related to BEx front end were discussed and disclosed. Thanks a lot for your exemplary attempt.
Though you have mentioned about the .NET frame work I could not understand how it will effect the "insert" menu of BEx report designer. But i have checked that also and its matching with your recommendations.
My question is pretty simple. With sapgui6.40compilation5 with all the latest patches both for gui, BW and BI. Will i get the options of "Report section", "Report section based on Querry"in the "insert" menu of BEx report designer.
The mentioned options "Report section", "Report section based on Querry" were shown in the webnair of BEx report designer. Pls check the link:

We have installed and upgraded the system to spstack 8 and done all the settings. Our front end is also updated with the service packs. But we could not get those options. If you can give me your mail id i can send you the screen shots.

Regarding SQ01 querry.

Hi All,
I am facing problem while executing querry in SQ01, in material master we have maintained the quantity and cost for the materials but while executing Forecast querry for some materials we are getting value 0 (zero) for the Planned forecast value, Incoming order value and Absolute difference value column. These three cloumn should be quantity evaluated using standard cost from material master. but we are getiing it as 0.
Can you please expalin me the logic behind this.

If you have an SQ01 query that is called 'Forecast', then the query was built by someone from your company, and it is uniqe to your system. We can't help you solve a query problem without a lot more details about how it works and what it is designed to display.
You would be well advised to find the person who wrote the query, and ask them why the data is not displayed according to your expectation.

Querry for Backorder Report

Can anyone give me the querry for creating a report which will show me the backorder quantities and their respective sales oders and the report should also give me the details on the open ordered quanities for the same items in the purchase order with the expected delivery dates.Its a kind of backorder fullfilment report.
We tried the following querry but this one gives a lot of instances for each warehouse or item and we are looking at a consolidated report for each item.

From your example, if the PO information you want to get is the ones that created from sales orders, I am afraid only the PO number can be listed in SO report in XL Reporter.
Of course most of the relevant information in SO header and row information can be found.
I drag following information from Report Composer:
go to Sales Module>Drag down:
Item(dimension) ; Document Number(light dimension) ; Document Date ; PO Target No.
PO Target No. column will give you the relevant PO no. But it is not possible in XLR to get more PO information because there is no more link in Sales module.
To list them in a report, please expand two rows in XL Reporter Designer and list SO and PO information seperately.
That also should be a clear report.

Wanted material medium description in querry

Hi Experts,
I would like to share my doubt, I'm doing wrong or the SAP functionality is like that.
see, I have created report, in my querry have material, dealer, country as charecteristics,
when i display in analyzer i can see material small description only but my client need medium descirption which is in full.
for dealer it's showing in medium description since it's having medium description only in modelling.
Note: Material having small description, Medium description in my modelling, dealer having only medicum description.
Any body give some ideas.

In the query designer where you select the display settings of a characteristic (key, text etc), you have an option to select the type of text (short, med, long) a little down below. Set it there to medium.
