Query BitLocker System center 2007 (English)
I require to obtain a list of equipments that complies with encrypt policy since SCCM 2007 console.
The query that I´m generating is the next
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
SELECT v_R_System.Name0 AS Computername,
v_GS_BitLocker.ProtectionStatus0 AS [Bitlocker Status],
v_GS_BitLocker.DriveLetter0 AS DriveLabel
FROM v_GS_BitLocker INNER JOIN
v_R_System ON v_GS_BitLocker.ResourceID = v_R_System.ResourceID
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
I detect v_GS_BitLocker object does not exist
As I have investigared I found the actions that are executed on SCCM client are not collecting the Bitloker information. So I understand even the object exists, in the database of the server this information is empty
Could you please confirm this?, or if it is possible obtain this information, thanks

Highest Windows AD Schema level supported by System Center 2007 R2
Hi all,
SCCM 2007 R2 has been implemented in a forest with Windows Server 2008 R2.
If the forest is upgraded to Windows Server 2012 R2, is there any issue with SCCM 2007 R2 and any compatibility or support challenges?
Any help would be useful.
ThanksShould not be any problem, but SCCM 2007 are unsupported since April 2014.
You mean July 8 2014 for main steam support. CM07 is still supported until July 9 2019. ;-)
http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/search/default.aspx?sort=PN&qid=&alpha=Microsoft+System+Center+Configuration+Manager&Filter=FilterNO
Having said the above, I too see no reason why the schema will have problem with Win12R2. Since both CM12 and CM07 have the same schema.

Yes you are right, sorry for that. Extended support is available until 2019. -
We need the download of SCOM 2012 without Service Pack1.
Upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 (select license) fails while upgrade check with error: Logs shows "At least one of the following applications is installed on this computer. Due
to incompatibility with System Center 2012 - Operations Manager, these applications must be uninstalled."
Upgrade was started from dos elevated prompt with modified parameters like this:
setup.exe /silent /upgrade
/AcceptEndUserLicenseAgreement:1
/UseLocalSystemDASAccount
/DataReaderUser:<domain\user>
/DataReaderPassword:<password>
Research in internet and we found another person with same issue, which reports that direct upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 to SCOM 2012 SP1 is not possible but if upgrade is done over
SCOM 2012 to SCOM 2012 SP1 it succeeds.
Unfortunately, we don't find any downloads for the first release of System Center 2012 e.g. Operations Manager.
Everything shows Service Pack 1 or the newer R2.
Who can help? Our “Recommended” rolling upgrade path looks like the following:
SCOM 2007R2 CU4+ > SCOM 2012 RTM UR2+ >
SCOM 2012 SP1 UR4+ > SCOM 2012 R2
Also you can refer below link

Hi guys
I am currently performing a distributed, complex upgrade with a customer:
4 management servers (1 being RMS), both databases (OM & DW) on a single SQL Server (2008 R2 SP2)
We moved over the RMS role to another server and decomissioned the old one due to it being a 2003 server.
Then we upgraded all non-RMS management servers.
We had some issues with them as well (same error in the log), but when we reinstalled the 2007 R2 binaries & patches and redid the upgrade it came through fine.
The RMS however keeps throwing the same error. Things I tried:
- Full clean of the server including momclean and msizap, then reinstall the RMS and retry the upgrade
- Reregister of the msiexec server
I am suspecting some issues with assemblies and / or GAC, but no clear proof on that, only that it crashes after performing assembly operations.
Below an extract from the RemoveMOMServer.log (the error occurs when uninstalling SCOM 2007 R2)
Can anyone help out or give me some pointers on possible causes?
Many thanks in advance!

Extending System Center Operations Manager Classes & Discovery SCOM 2007 R2
I want to add some additional attributes to SCOM that are populated from information in another database.....for example.
I have a CMDB that contains information about the support level for each server (i.e. gold, silver, bronze), i want to be able to display this information in the SCOM console. This needs to cover both Windows and Unix/linux servers.
I have played around with creating a custom MP and have created a new class, and custom script discovery using a vbscript to query the CMDB SQL database containing the info that i want....I have got to the point where i can see the new column in SCOM console
but cannot get it to populate with any data.
any help would be appreciated.
thanksHi,
Here are some good articles about extending SCOM classes, please go through them:

Import System Center Monitoring Pack for System Center 2012 - Service Manager into SCOM 2007 R2
I would like to know if there is SCSM 2012 SP1 MP available for SCOM 2007 R2 ?
I downloaded the "System Center Monitoring Pack for System Center 2012 - Service Manager" MP from
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29980 and then import into SCOM 2007 R2, however, I found that there are some MP dependencies issue.
For example, the "Microsoft System Center Service Manager Library" MP requires "Microsoft SystemCenter Library" and "System.Health.Library" MPs of version 7.0.8427.0. Howerver, the "Microsoft SystemCenter Library"
and "System.Health.Library" MP in SCOM 2007 R2 is of version 6.1.7221.0Import Management Pack from DVD disk SCOM 2012 R2

System Center Operations Manager 2007
Hi,
Is there anyone who is monitoring their IronPort C-series with System Center Operations Manager 2007?
If so, is there anything I should look out for implementing it?
/FredrikHi
If scom supports SNMP, then we can monitor Ironport devices. We can monitor Ironport via Solarwinds and Hp openview. -

T-SQL: Random Equal Distribution
Jinchun Chen: "Nice."
JS: "The crucial thing about such a procedure is to check the data before the randomization and afterwards. You might encounter situations where "John Smith" and "John Meyers" might have exchanged their First names
which is technically correct, but logically and obviously wrong. So make sure that there is one additional check afterwards that makes sure that eventual privicy concerns will not survive the random process. Normally this would not happen, but I have already
checked this is one of my older blog entries, where we exactly had that problem obfuscating data to make that operational and live data will not be recognized afterwards. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/jenss/archive/2009/04/08/when-is-random-random-enough.aspx In
addition to this some attributes are sticky to each other like gender and First Name. You also have to make sure that your distribution might change statistically in relation to other attributes."
Richard Mueller: "Very instructive. Perhaps the See Also section should have more links."
Ed Price: "Great formatting and topic! Could benefit from more descriptions. Great article!"
GO: "Naomi, your article is nice. Simple to understand the 'problem' and execute the 'solution""
Manoj Pandey: "Nice article with a different way to resolve a given problem. I think this can also be done by using NTILE() function. I've added the code in comments section."

Extending SYS.Geometry to Utilize Temporal Data
GO: "Great article, I enjoyed reading it. Thank you"
Manoj Pandey: "I like the idea, but it took me some more time to understand the overall logic as I'm new to Geo datatypes, Thanks."
JS: "For me not using this sort of things regularly, I don't see the problem and the benefit. I have no doubt that this is a brilliant explanations how to cope with a problem, but for me this is missing yet the red line. More pictures
would be helpful describing the problem and outlining the results produced."
Richard Mueller: "Needs more explanation, and perhaps an example. There should be links to relevant references."
Ed Price: "Good job on the opening descriptions! Could benefit from breaking up and explaining the code more. Images and references would be helpful. Good article!"
Hasham Niaz
DataCleanUp() Function Implementation in MS SQL Server
Jinchun Chen: "Good."
JS: "-Does actually not work for Case senstive areas where I want to remoce certain Upper/lower case characters. This might be not interesting for some people, but is extremely important and relevant to other people. The limitation is
that I can´t pass multiple values to be removed from the string, right ? Could this be implemented as well as many people wash out their data from unused / unimportant control characters. "I have tested it on a table which has got more than 11 Million
rows and it executed fine returning the correct results. Since this is a scalar function you will notice decrease in performance." Once you want to maintain the old data and keep the new cleaned up one seperately, you could suggest something like persisting
the data in a computed column which could be indexed and then help improving the performance. This would not be the case for any adhoc queries though."
Richard Mueller: "Very clever and also very useful. There should be links to references, for example to explain the PATINDEX function."
Ed Price: "Great job on this article! Very clear and well executed! See JS's comments for some thoughts about what's possible. Great article!"
Manoj Pandey: "A good utility Function that I can use and tweak for my future needs, Thanks."

Answer an interesting question?
Create a wiki article about it! -
Hello,
We are currently implementing a Devops solution with SCOM 2012 SP1 and TFS 2010 SP1 and we would like to synchronize APM alerts with TFS and the Operational Issue WorkItem. However we are not
able to sync anything.
Here is our environments :
Products :
SCOM
System Center Operations Manager 2012 SP1
French
OS: Windows 2012 SP1 Std x64
French
DB: SCOM SQL Server 2012 SP1 x64
Management Pack
MP Operations Manager TFS Work Item Synchronisation 7.0.9538.0
MP Alert Attachement 7.0.9538.0 (We have also try the version in the VM DEVOPSALL : 7.0.9538.1005)
TFS
Team Foundation Server 2010 SP1
French 10.0.40219.1
OS: Windows 2008 R2 SP1 Std x64
French
DB: TFS SQL Server 2008 x64
TFS 2012 Object Model Installer (We have also try the version 2010)
Here is our configuration :
TFS Platform
This a French platform with a project based on the Process Template SCRUM 1.0 alone in a Team Project collection. The Operational Issue import completed successfully. It’s possible to manipulate
Operational Issue for all of its states from TFS.
SCOM Platform
We followed the documentation at :
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj883936.aspx
to configure SCOM Alert Attachment and Operation Manager Tfs Work Item Synchronization. Everything seems to be ok. All configurations succeed. We did not configure Intellitrace collector.
The problem occurs when we are trying to push an APM alert to TFS. When we assigned an alert to the Engineering nothing is synchronized in TFS. There is no error in the event viewer on the TFS
server. But, on the SCOM server we get 2 exceptions raised by Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Modules.Apm.TfsWISync.OMModules. We provide you the log of the SCOM Server in this mail.

ALM Engineer at Tekigo => www.tekigo.comHi,
To monitor the complete TFS infrastructure, you need additional monitoring packs that alert you about a wide range of problems with TFS components. When you import the TFS Work Item Synchronization management pack, it is a best practice to
also import and configure these monitoring packs, you can double check these:

GO: "This article deserves absolutely a medal THANKS!"
Jinchun Chen: ""
Richard Mueller: "Good topic. Grammar needs work. "Caution" states undocumented stored procedure is safe for production, but later states it is not."
Ed Price: "Great article. We should include the technology in the title. Good descriptions, and great References!"
JS: "Although the outlined solution is interesting and shows the public the usage of the "new" system views finding the right dependencies, it is not recommended to describe the usage of undocumented features such as sp_msforeachdb
as there are alternatives, especially in this scenario. You could generate a query using the sys.databases view and let it print out the database name along with the use statement. In addition to this and as the statement has to be run with a high privileged
account as schema information is secured as well, it should be made safe to SQL injection. In many case in the statements there is just a concatentation of values used. You can easily inject code in here, Also make sure that names / object identifiers are
quoted with [] in order to allow also special characters like spaces in the names"

Export To CSV for Windows Store apps
JH: "Most people laugh when they hear about CSV export of data. A database would be a better place for the data of an app. In my opinion this is not always true (because CSV is small and can be used in different ways),
so most apps should have the capability to export data into the CSV file format. This article shows how this can be done."

System center 2012R2 licensing suggestion.
Hello,
I am reading about system center licensing but getting more and more confused, so any help is greatly appreciated.
I want to implement SCOM to monitor following servers:
win server (90% Virtual machines) - 80 (apprx)
unix /linux server (50% Virtual machines) - 25
6 Vmware ESX host (3 with 16 and 3 with 24 processor each)
Networking switches and firewall from Dell (looks like scom monitoring is free for them)
and SCCM 2012 R2 with FEP for apprx 1200 WIN 8 client machines
also maintain inventory + FEP for above win servers.
most of my servers have single core CPU, but some of have them 4 and 2-3 have 8 virtual cores.
Now that I understand no license is needed for actual products like SCCM and SCOM, how many and which user cal's do I need in all for my clients together?
My doubts are:
- Do I need standard or datacenter approach or can it be mix
- does the sml's or client machine license covers FEP or is it separate license
- If I manage a server with both SCCM and SCOM, then 1 need just 1 SMLs not 2.
- also are they just paper license or do I need to add them in the products.
Thanks in Advancehello,
Sytem Center 2012/2012 R2 is not complexe to understand the licensing model.
for your Servers: you nedd System Center Standard for each physical Server with 2 CPUs to manage 2 VMs.
for example: if you have one Server with 4 CPUs and 6 VMs than you Need 3 System Center Standard or 1 System Center datacenter.
if you have one Server with 2 CPUs and 8 VMs than you Needs: 4 std or 1 datacenter.
2. for Clients: you Needs 1200 Systen Center Configuration Manager Client mangement License(CML) + 1200 System Center Endpoint Protection as a subscription in open value for example.
3. if you manage for example one Server with 2 CPUs and 2 VMs with SCCM and SCOM than you Need only 1 System Center Standard while the compenents of System Center 2012 are all included on the std or datacent suites. standalone compenents will no longer
be sold separately.
4. you Need to add System Center products on your Server products.
I hope that my Suggestion clear to understand it(my english is not very good!)
thanks

Why buy System Center 2012 Operations Manager (how to convince my boss)
Hello
I need to put together a document to try and convince my boss to spend the time/money to move from SCOM 2007 R2 to SCOM 2012 R2.
One of the areas I want to focus on is Cross Platform (Unix/Linux), Network Monitoring and APM
Does any one know of any good documents/short videos showing the benefits of SCOM 2012 R2 which a view to selling the benefits to a line manager (also have a very sceptical Unix/Linux team).
Perhaps someone else has already been through this loop, and has such a documents :)
Thanks

Here is a recent video on managing SUSU Linux with SCOM 2012 R2:

I can assure you this level of ease of monitoring applies to all supported Linux versions not such SUSE.
This video focuses on the dashboarding features in SCOM, it might convey the value you are looking for:
