Query Data From Table Synonym
Hi Experts,
I encountered an issue when querying data from a table synonym. Some newly created data can be found in the physical table, but not seen from its synonym created in another schema. What could cause this?

The synonym is defined as:
CREATE OR REPLACE SYNONYM "APPS"."synm_table1" FOR "CN"."table1";
When I query from APPS schema:
select * from synm_table1 where last_update_date>'16-jul-10'
I get nothing.
When I query:
select * from CN.table1 where last_update_date>'16-jul-10'
I get the expected rows.What are the results of
select owner,object_name,object_type from dba_objects where object_name='SYNM_TABLE1';

Dear Everyone,
I need to have your help to achieve following condition.
I have a table named called current_stock having field barcode, itemcode, quantity, warehouse_id.
I created data block in forms and put Execute_query in when_new_block_instance. Now I need here to display all the record from that table if user didn't choose warehouse ID. If they chooses I want to display only those record which equal to warehouse ID.

it didnt retrive any rows if i didnt give warehouse ID...

Spool out data from tables by querying user_tables
I want to write a script to export data from tables that I query out of user_tables.
like
for all the tables returned by this query
select table_name from user_tables where table_name like '%LK';
I want to run a select * from on them and print the data out.

Thanks,I have a nice filedump routine that takes any query provided and produces a flat file. You have options regarding headers, separators, trailing separators, append vs. write mode, etc. Simple to use and works great. I built it into a mail routine that I worked on. We use it regularly in our production environment without issue.

If it is posible, which syntax should I use to identify the tables and schemas on the SELECT query?Yes , it is possible..unless the current user has the right privileges on others' db objects schema.
Now , as regards the syntax....
1) The more descriptive way is to use the format ... <owner_schema>.<obj_name>.
2) If you have declared public synonyms of other schema's objects then you can refer to them as just <obj.name>.... but the <owner_schema>.<obj_name> is not wrong.
3) If the db objects reside on another database you must have declared a db link.... then the syntax is <owner_schema>.<obj_name>@<db_link_name>.

Use evdre to query data from a SQL View

I believe that it is possible to use evdre to query data from a SQL View. If this is possible then how does one go about setting it up in the evdre options (assuming that the view has already been created)?

ByronByron, perhaps this is no longer supported, it might be worth opening up a case at service.sap.com on this. However, I did find the following on Page 11 of the "Usages and Considerations of EVDRE" pdf file. This doc is imbedded in the helpfile for BPC 7 SP5 (which was released in August of 2009, well after note 1315011 was last updated.
It looks like you are limited to one custom view per application, since you have to name the view in a parameter at the APPLICATION level. Go into BPC Administration, login to the application related to the custom view, choose "Set Application Parameters" and enter the name of the view to the Application Parameter called "EVDRE_QUERYVIEWNAME" If it is not listed, go ahead and create it at the bottom of the Application parameter screen.
Also: I interpreted the following info from Page 10 of the same doc:
In your EVDRE, set the following options:
QueryEngine: MANUAL
QueryType: enter either NEXJ OR TUPLE see below:
NEXJ - Use two-dimensional queries using the nonemptycrossjoin function
TUPLE - Use two-dimensional queries using tuples"
And I'm assuming you'd enter a Y for the following two parameters:
QueryViewName
"..to enforce the query engine to use a used-defined SQL view of the fact tables, when trying to read the values using SQL queries. This option is typically used in conjunction with the SQLOnly option (see below). "

I am not able to insert data or query data from forms(10g devsuite).getting error frm-40505,frm 40508 .i am able to insert and select record from sql plus.the block ihave created is control block .it is connected to the table using the properties.

This means the block is not directly connected to a table so you have to manually display data in the block and any DML you want to perform on data in this block you must do manually as well.
There are four database objects you can base your database block on; 1) a Table, 2) a View, 3) From Clause Query (basically an In-line View), and 4) a database stored procedure. I recommend you use one of these four methods rather than manually display your data.

I would like to sync our one table in oracle db with table in different system, stored in MS SQL database.
What would be the easiest option for connection from Oracle to MS SQL db to be able to query data from MS SQL through some Oracle package?
If possible, I would like to keep all "tricky steps" within Oracle database. I heard about option with Java, but so far we have no experience with java in Oracle.

Select data from table not in another table
Hi,
I want to select data from table A which is not in table B.
Currently I am doing:
select
snoA,
nameA,
dobA
from A
where snoA not in
(select snoB from A, B
where snoA = snoB
and nameA = nameB)
But above is very slow.
Can I do something like:
select
snoA,
nameA,
dobA
from A, B
where
EXCLUDE ( snoA = snoB and nameA = nameB)
Please note that I need the where condition on both the columns.
any help will be appreciated.

Without knowing anything about your system, my first thought would be to see if a NOT EXISTS happened to be faster for your data

dobA
FROM a

AND a.nameA = b.nameB )Of course, I'm not sure why you are joining A & B in your NOT IN subquery. It would seem like you would just need a correlated subquery, i.e.
SELECT snoA,
nameA,
dobA
FROM a
WHERE snoA NOT IN (
SELECT snoB
FROM b
WHERE a.snoA = b.snoB
AND a.nameA = b.nameB )That should be more efficient than the original query. The NOT EXISTS version may or may not be more efficient than the NOT IN depending on data volumes.

Problems with retrieving data from tables with 240 and more records
Hi,
I've been connecting to Oracle 11g Server (not sure exact version) using Oracle 10.1.0 Client and O10 Oracle 10g driver. Everything was ok.
I installed Oracle 11.2.0 Client and I started to have problems with retrieving data from tables.
First I used the same connection string, driver and so on (O10 Oracle 10g) then I tried ORA Oracle but with no luck. The result is like this:
I'm able to connect to database. I'm able to retrieve data but from small tables (e.g. with 110 records it works perfectly using both O10 and ORA drivers). When I try to retrieve data from tables with like 240 and more records retrieval simply hangs (nothing happens at all - no error, no timeout). Application seems to hang forever.
I'm using Powerbuilder to connect to Database (either PB10.5 using O10 driver or PB12 using ORA driver). I used DBTrace, so I see that query hangs on the first FETCH.
So for the retrievals that hang I have something like:

while for retrievals that end, I have FETCH producing time, data in buffer and moving to the next Fetch until all data is retrieved
On the side note, I have no problems with retrieving data either by SQL Developer or DbVisualizer.
Problems started when I installed 11.2.0 Client. Even if I want to use 10.0.1 Client, the same problem occurs. So I guess something from 11.2.0 overrides 10.0.1 settings.
I will appreciate any comments/hints/help.

Installing 11g client changed something that even using old 10g client (which I still have installed) fails to work. The same problem occur no matter I'm using 10g or 11g client now. Powerbuilder hangs on retrieving tables with more than like 240 records.

working on JDBC for first time, so have few questions.
data base guys want to create a table view and we need to pick the data from table view.
my question is can we import the structure form data view?
if i am not able to import, so i need to create the structure same as in data base table view and is it case sensitive?
they dont want to update the data base table view, very time the SQL query will pick all the records form data base.
the records will be less then 10,000.
my question is as we are not updating the table view, what we need to write in update query as it is mandatory?

In place of the SQL statement, you can also enter <TEST>. Once the data determined from Query SQL Statement has been successfully sent, the data in the database remains unaltered.
This is recommended if the data has not only been read, but also changed by a stored procedure entered under Query SQL Statement. -
Query Data from other Oracle Database into current
Hi all,
I have to query data from another oracle database into the current oracle database. Because the customer has standard edition, I cannot use a pipe. I tried "SELECT column_name FROM external_oracle_db.schema.table WHERE column_name = 'column_value';" Unfortunately this does not work.
Does anyone have a suggestion?

Issue:
I have SAP BW system and SAP HANA System
SAP BW to SAP HANA connecting through a DB Connection (named HANA)
Whenever I created any Open Hub as Destination like DB Table with the help of DB Connection, table will be created at HANA Schema level ( L_F50800_D )
Executed the Open Hub service without checking DELETING Data from table option
Data loaded with 16 Records from BW to HANA same
Second time again executed from BW to HANA now 32 records came ( it is going to append )
Executed the Open Hub service with checking DELETING Data from table option
Now am getting short Dump DBIF_RSQL_TABLE_KNOWN getting
If checking in SAP BW system tio SAP BW system it is working fine ..
will this option supports through DB Connection or not ?
Please follow the attachemnet along with this discussion and help me to resolve how ?

Here the issue is At OH level ( Definition Level - DESTINATION TAB and FIELD DEFINITION )
in that there is check box i have selected already that is what my issue even though selected also
not performing the deletion from target level .
SAP BW - to SAP HANA via DBC connection
1. first time from BW suppose 16 records - Dtp Executed -loaded up to HANA - 16 same
2. second time again executed from BW - now hana side appaended means 16+16 = 32
3. so that i used to select the check box at OH level like Deleting data from table
4. Now excuted the DTP it throws an Short Dump - DBIF_RSQL_TABLE_KNOWN
Now please tell me how to resolve this ? will this option is applicable for HANA mean to say like , deleting data from table option ...

And how do you imagine this happening with sqlloader?
The entire purpose of sqlloader is to load data (hence, the name sql*loader*) into a table from an external source. If you want to delete rows from a table, you use the sql DELETE statement.
