Query Designer Issues Post System Copy

Hi All -
We have just performed a system copy from our production to our QA systems. Now, when we trying to view a report from Query Designer in our QA environment, we are being prompted for a username and password - which is trying to log in to our production environment! (I know this because I locked myself out of production trying to log in via our QA Query Designer). We've done all the BDLS runs, updated the RSLOGSYSDEST table poer OSS note 524554, and also updated the tRFC port in WE20. What do we need to do to be able to run a query out of the BW QA system?

Hi Abby,
Once you execute the query from designer you will get one URL generated in the explorer address bar here you will have to change the name of your production app server with quality app server then report will be executed on quality server.
But this is temporary solution, you will have to check with your basis team regarding this and they will have to change some setting in system table and next time onward the system will pick proper URL.

XI 3.0 post system copy issue

Hi Experts,
We are using XI 3.0 on Windows and MSSQL platform, i have made system copy sucessfully from production system with process of DB restore for ABAP and Java Import, the new server is up and running both abap and java.
Problem : In the newserver when i execute the tcode sxmb_ifr it takes me to production server url and not the new server hostname url.
when i tried the http://newserver hostname.com:50000 it works fine. but from this url except home page every other link like exchaneprofile, SLD,IR and ID links still points to the production server host name.
Please look at the following post installation activities i have performed till now in new serverand please guide where else i have to change the host name in the new server.
Note: i did not cange the logical system assignment in scc4, beacuse i was not sure about the other problems we may face after directly assigning new logical system to the productive client in new server.
1. Run installation check: Administration u2192 System administration u2192 Administration u2192
Installation Check (transaction SM28).
2. Configure the Workbench Organizer (SE06) with the option Database Copy. This
releases all transport, repair, and customizing requests that have not been released in
the source system.
3. Configure STMS
4. In transaction RZ70, change the value for the host and the gateway service in the group box
Transport Information
5. Change the pipeline to the Integration Server by running transaction SXMB_ADM -> Configuration -> Integration Engine Configuration
6. Open Visual Administrator -> Change the new host name in the following
 services -> Jcorfcprovider all the services
 services -> SLD Suppiler
7. Host name Change in SLDAPICUST
Note: In the SAP system copy guide it says me to chane few parameters in exchange profile but when i go through the url http://newserver hostname.com:50000/exchangeProfile it takes me to production server, is there any option to change the exchange profile parameters ?

Hi,
the explanation of some of the thing you have written is clearly that the AII-Properties of the XI system have still not been switched.
The properties must be changed once - afterwards the URL to the exchange profile and all other URLs should become valid.
The key is therefore to change the exchange profile. Try please the to access the exchange profile by using the ip address or the fully
qualified name of the new server http://<newserver>:<port>exchangeProfile/connection.jsp
Did I get it right - you are redirected to the URL http://<oldserver>:<port>exchangeProfile/connection.jsp ?

BW 3.5, BEx Query designer issue with text of the characteristics

Hi All,
We are currently using BEx 3.5 Query Designer to design the queries. We have one of the ODS on which we are querying for.
We have 3 different types of Customer in this ODS. 0Customer, 0BBP_CUSTOMER and 0GN_CUSTOMER. The problem is when we open this ODS in Query designer we see their text name on the left hand side column where it shows data fields as the same text name Customer.
Now the our Power users have raised the issue that it is very confusing even when there are 3 different technical names for these characteristics.
2 Questions I have.
1) Why is something like this happening? is it some issue with the Patch or something. We will be migrating to new BI soon but in the mean time if I could resolve it that will be the best. Or does it even get resolved with new BI???
2) what is the way in which we can resolve it?

Things like this happen, when it is called customer it could be different customers, 0customer is the standard R/3 customer and 0BBP_customer is objects from CRM and most likely 0GN_Customer might be customer from different system.
Sure, power users should be told which customer is customer and you could also change the discription of the object, to match the definition on the other system. You could also just create z object and replace the existing confusing object with something meaningful to users.

Issue on System Copy

Dear Guru,
We are doing system copy of DEV to QAS, facing issue on Start instance phase.
Error msg :
Connect to message server (hostname/3900) failed: NIECONN_REFUSED
ABAP processes of instance SID/DVEBMGS00 [ABAP: MSNOTRUNNING] did not start after 10:30 minutes. Giving up.
OS : AIX
DB : DB2
SAP : ECC 6.0
Anyone suggest me for this issue.

Activities post System copy - SAP CRM 5.0

Dear All,
We were having a 3 system (SAP CRM 5.0 SP8) landscape. CRM Dev(CRD), CRM Q (CRQ) & CRM P (CRP) on Oracle 10 and HP UX 11. We have the JDI 7 SP8 instance connected to the CRM dev systemand all the 3 systems were configured as the run time systems in the JDI.
Now we have added a new tier for the Intergation testing called CRM
IST viz CRI there by coming into 4 system landscape (CRD, CRQ, CRI,
CRP). The CRI server is a copy of the CRP box and has been just installed and given to us. We need to do all the post installation activities.
Can you please provide us the proper documentation/ccokbook/check points so as to what all steps to be carried out after this system copy. It would be highly appreciated if you can give us a proper documents & links. We need to give the system to the consultants and before that we need to carry out all the post refresh activities, please help us in this urgently.

Post System Copy Process

Hello,
We are getting ready to install new servers and we will be performing a homogenous copy process to the new servers which will have new names and ID on the network. We would like to run the new servers side by side with the current system so we can test. My questions are:
1) With the systems running on the network together and we are ready to cut over to the new servers, would I just need to backup and restore the DB to the new DB server? Or do I have to go through the whole system copy process again?
2) The first process we are using the R3Load because we have SQL 2000/Windows 2000. I understand the System Copy process with the Export file and then the migration (import) file, but do all of the post processes that are involved according to the System Copy guide have to be implemented again if I am able to simply restore the DB after doing the inital copy as described above?
3) Any thoughts to how I can accomplish running the servers together for awhile for testing then cutting over to the new ones? Any quick notes from the field that would help make this easier?

Can anyone pl. provide inputs on :
- What is Synchronisation Point after System Copy ?
i.e. Say if ECC PROD system is copied to ECC QAS. After this what steps ( High Level Overview ) needed to ensure that
connected systems perform ok ?

Bex Query designing issue

Hi,
Need help for the following scenerio,
There is data for Year (Numc..2010 we can do this by offset because it is Numc) and Year Quarter(Char..2010 Q1But this char..I think not possible) fields in the cube.But report requirement is last 3 recent Quarters data and previous 6 years of data into report.

Query Designer Issue (Variables)

Hello,
I'm trying to create an input query in BI-IP, with 2 característics in rows (untill here evrything works fine).
I'm having problems in creating the columns the way client want. It's a plan query, so the Client wants to Plan his budget monthly for the next year (I've created a mandatory Interval Variable ready for input based on 0FISCPER) if i run the query at this point, it runs, doesn't give results because there are no values.
The problem is that the Client wants to see the Acumulated Real Amount of the previous year in a column before the monthly ones! This is where the query stucks. I assign another variable i've created for cumulative values, and assigned an offset of -1 to that variable
Does anyone knows how to solve this or has any idea so we can start a conversation over here! I'm quite in a hurry as the project is reaching it's end.

When u want to see the Accumulated Real amount of previous year
y do u need to create a variable for it....
for e.g. if i have to do i will do it following way...
Client wants tos ee the Amount of Last year and Current year
i will insert Amount in Columns
right click and say edit
now bring time chars... ofiscper
now restrict it with interval variable , ready for input...
save and hit okey
i will copy the whole amount and paste it below
now i will go to variable restrict screen and then set offset as -1
is this what you did....
if yes... then how does the data corresponds in BW system
logint to rsa1
goto ur cube
right click and hit display data
see what u are seeing....
go to rsrt
run and execute ur query
it will display how each column value is getting calculated
if there is no relevant data then i t will nt show
if there is then u need to redesign variables...
if u r using mandatory variable in columns of keyfigures
dont use 0fiscper in Free chars/Selection screen

In the query desinger, what i have done means. I have add the Prodcut in row and Account as free characteristic.
1. Create a formula to calculte the difference between start and end date.
2. Create a formula for all the buckets and if the difference between those days is < 5 days then it will falls into Bucket1 ( < 5 days) and so on.
When i execute the report the report looks like.

Instead of 20 comes into bucket2 (>5 days and < 10 days) , all the cummaltive comes in bucket 3 ( > 10 days).
Could you please help me out how can i solve it.

Are your dates of type KF ?
IF not then you must have converted them into KF to calculate the difference with the help of formula variable with replacement path.Then it is mandatory to keep the dates in rows otherwise it does not work properly.
And the formula should be something like this for calculating the amount based on difference of days:
(Difference>5)AND(Difference<=10)*Amount

Query design issue??

Hi all,
Is there anyway that I can design a report for this case: customers's sale values in the past one year and for those customer who don't have any sales in past one year, then I want to their lastest sales data to fill in the past one year. For example:
If the report run by monthly (001-012/2005) for customers, customer A, B,C have sales data for 001-012/200 and customer D only have sales data for 001-012/2004 , then the sales report is 001-012/2005 and will cover these 4 customers and customer D's sales data (001-012/2004) needs to fill in 001-012/2005 period.

I am afraid it is not possible do it BEx. Because there should be some validation for customer 'C' and finding a solution may be a bit complicated in BEx I believe.
One option is can go for a customer exit and validate using some logic like below:
If there is no data at all for the given periods getting data from previous periods. Need to brain strom to achieve this...

Initilization Issue post system refresh

Hello Everyone we are encountering below mentioned ST22 dump when we try to open any IP related and try to delete/re init, can you please suggest applicaple fix?

Activating data in DSO got dump SAPSQL_EMPTY_TABNAME after BW system copy

Hi all,
We had an issue after system copy.
After a system copy the data in the standard DSOs(all of them) cannot be activated. The DOSs themselves are active, the transformations are active but if one attempts to load data and activate u2013 it does not work. The job terminates with shortdump SAPSQL_EMPTY_TABNAME.
Found the issue is caused by u201Cmore than one versionu201D of the change log.
We tried the Program RSAR_RSTSODS_CHANGELOG_VRS but it didn't work.
We had the solution like this:
After activating the DSO itself(the object) using RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE the issue disappears and the data can be activated. Issue also disappears. BUT Drawback: Activating the DSO causes the transformations to deactivate.Then we used the program RSDG_TRFN_ACTIVATE to activate all transformations. And then the issue disappeared.
Want to know what the root cause for this. From some SDN threads, mentioned BDLS job in the post refresh steps are not correctly done during system copy may cause this issue. How did the BDLS run wrongly cause this issue? And what is the exact correct way? We ran BDLS for each source systems inlcuding the target refreshed BW system itself by the default selection - conversion of Client-Dependent and Client-Independent Tables; because we used database copy
for the system refresh.
We also restored all source systems in RSA1 inlcuding the refreshed BW system own in the post-refresh steps.

Hi Arun, as you say two change log tables it´s strange. In fact in my opinion it´s not right but the problem is that the second change log table appears after executing std SAP report RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE in order to be able to activate the DSO. So the solution provided by SAP it works but i´m not sure if the right one. Besides this the original change log table is full of data while the second one is empty... for new loads which are gonna a be filled by the activation process ? I suppose the second one... will this have some impact with the data stored in the first one... not in theory but.... i do not feel confortable with the consequences of this report.
And the most important, it seems that the reason why the DSO and the change log table had problems is due to a some problems or missing steps after executing the BDLS after BW system refresh but nobody can confirm this point...
So, i´ve been able to solve the issue but now i have two change log tables for the same DSO.
Anybody has the same situation after executing the above mentioned SAP std report ?

Bex Query designer withour Enterprise Portal?

Dear BW experts,
After launching the Bex Query designer with BI7 system. After designing query, If I click on execute (Ctrl+R). It is launching internet explorer with error "Invalid Syntax error - Page cannot be displayed"
It is launching the following URL
http:///irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?QUERY=ZCCQ20071048070001&VARIABLE_SCREEN=X&DUMMY=1
I think it is looking for Enteprise Portal server. I dont have an EP server.
What is the alternate way to execute this?

just to make sure that I do not missunderstand:
As far as I know in BW3.5 (without EP installed) you were able to execute a query directly out of the query designer and it was shown as a web-query.
Now I tried to do the same with a BI7-System the first time and I get the same symptom as Abdullah. We also do not have an EP installed on that system.
As solution, you all describe that I have to open the query in analyzer to see it in excel - OK - BUT if I do not want to see it in excel but as a webquery (like in my good old BW3.5) instead ? Isn't that possible anymore ???
