Query Hierachies with MDX
Hi colleagues,
currently I´m trying to execute MDX-Statements with a tool called TurboQueryLight.
I want to extract specific Hierachies out of the SAP BW and tried following Statements so far:
SELECT .MEMBERS ON COLUMNS,[PPROCTNTN].MEMBERS ON ROWS FROM SAP VARIABLES INCLUDING .[FDA44FDDE546E74C9217783AFB06AA5B]
SELECT .MEMBERS ON COLUMNS,[PPROCTNTN].MEMBERS ON ROWS FROM SAP VARIABLES INCLUDING .[CRM_40_KEYCAPS]
With both Statements I get ab Error like:
OLAP Data adapter error: Invalid MDX command with FDA44FDDE546E74C9217783AFB06AA5B (or CRM_40_KEYCAPS)
Any idea how to initialize the SAP VARIABLES coorectly to get a specific hierachie?

Now I created a new statement with a little help from the MDX Testeditor which looks like this:
SELECT .MEMBERS ON AXIS(0),NON EMPTY .[LEVEL01].MEMBERS ON AXIS(1) FROM SAP VARIABLES INCLUDING
Executing this query takes some time and ends with an OLAP Data adapter error: tY8 .
Any suggestions what´s going wrong now?

The Essbase Adminstrators guide says:
"The intersection of one member from one dimension with one member from each of the other
dimensions represents a data value."
Yet the following example from the same guide succeeds in returning what seems to be a meaningless value without any context.

Surely any number/value only has meaning when associated with a member from each of the other dimensions?
And
Why has Essbase chosen that particular value for Jan as opposed to any other that I can see in source file Calcdat.txt?

AshwaniThe BW Query Driver is an old version. the BW MDX is an enhanced version.
The BW MDX Driver is able to leverage a BW query with two structures and it shows display attributes.

How to use ADF Query search with EJB 3.0

The steps to create query search with ADF Business Components says:
"+From the Data Controls panel, select the data collection and expand the Named Criteria node to display a list of named view criteria.+"
But with EJB, I'm not able to find Named Criteria node. Can we use ADF query search component with EJB? If yes, can you please show me some example, tutorial etc.?

View Criteria in ADF Query Panel with Table-Class Cast Exception

I am getting Class Cast Exception when using view criteria for ADF Query Panel with Table. The version I am using is 11g Release 1(11.1.1.2.0)

1. created a view criteria on a view object
2. all are optional
3. all are Strings

I'm using JDev 11.1.1.3.0 as you suggest the error is no longer present in the latest version.
I can pick my query from the "Saved Search" pick list on the QueryPanel list of queries just fine, and it sets up the filter properly, but when I press the "Search" button, I get the same reported error...

BW Authorizations - Query variable with processing mode as "customer exit"
Hi,
Iam new to BW authorizations and have not yet worked on customer exit before. I was going through the documentation at various sites but I could not get the end to end description on how the query process( when using a variable for an InfoObject) works in case of customer exit.
Let's assume that I am using a query variable with processing mode as "customer exit" and at the exit I write some code to extract user's authorizations from a z table. if this is the case, then when an end user runs a query,how will the the system know what value needs to be filled in the variable for the requesting user. Are the user details also sent to the code along with the query variable? If so how. If I mis-understood the process then forgive me and let me know the correct process.Hi!

customer exit variables need programing by user. so if you create a customer exit variable, you got to right a program which extracts values into this variable. we can do what ever we want in program, SAP will not deal anything ´with customer exits.

Failing to refresh LOV fields added in the query panel with table
Hi.. Iam using Jdev 11.1.1.2.0
I have a scenario like ..i need to add 2 cascaded lovs in search panel and clicking on search button, the result should be displayed in table form.
For example..
I have cascaded LOV fields departmentId and Firstname ,
first name dropdown values depends on the selection of value in DepartmentIddropdown. I need to add only these 2 fields in search panel and clciking on search buton , the result should be displayed in emp table.
I have achieved the same creating View criteria with 2 fields and dragging and dropping that as query panel with table. But my problem is First name lov is not populating based on department id. It is showing static dropdown list.
Please help me how to achieve this ? thanks in advance.

Query rewrites with Nested materialized views with different aggregations
Platform used : Oracle 11g.
Here is a simple fact table (with measures m1,m2) and dimensions (a) Location (b) Calendar and (c) Product. The business problem is that aggregation operator for measure m1,m2 are different along location dimension and Calendar dimension. The intention is to preaggregate the measures for a product along the calendar dimension and Location dimension and store it as materialized views.
The direct option is to define a materialized view with Inline queries (Because of the different aggrergation operator, it is not possible to write a query without Inline query). http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28313/qradv.htm#BABEAJBF documents the limitations that it works only for 'Text match' and 'Equivalent queries' and that is too limiting.
So decided to have nested materialized view, with first view having just joins(my_dim_mvw_joins), the second view having aggregations along Calendar dimension (my_dim_mvw_calendar) and third view having aggregations along the Location dimension(my_dim_mvw_location). Obviously I do not want the query I fire to know about materialized views and I fire it against the fact table. I see that for the fired query (Which needs aggregations along both Calendar and Location), is rewritten with just second materialized view but not the third. (Had set QUERY_REWRITE_INTEGRITY as TRUSTED) .
Wanted to know whether there are limitations on Query Writes with nested materialized views? Thanks

This Query rewrites only with my_dim_mvw_calendar. (as saw in Query Plan and EXPLAIN_MVIEW). But we would like it to use my_dim_mvw_location as that has aggregations for both dimensions.blackhole001 wrote:

I say this because you will eventually end up with programmers that know nothing about your data model and how to properly interact with it.
Additionally, what you will get is a developer that takes one of your views and see's that of the 20 columns in it, it has 4 that he needs. If all those 4 columns comes from a simple 2 table join, but the view has 8 tables, you're wasting a tonne of resources by using the view (and heaven forbid they have to join that view to another view to get 4 of the 20 columns from that other view as well).
Ideally you'd write stored routines that satisfy exactly what is required (if you are the database resource and these other programmers are java, .net, etc... based) and the front end developers would call those routines customized for an exact purpose.
Creating views is not bad, but it's by no means a proper solution to having developers not learn or understand SQL and/or the data model. -
Problems with Query Panel with Table
Hi. I'm having a problems with this component in runtime. I'm using JDev 11.1.1.1 with ADFBC.
The query uses three optional parameters. When i put a value for the first and leave other blank and execute query, following error is produced:

I am also getting the same error. The version I am using is 11g Release 1(11.1.1.2.0)

Query panel with table not working in taskflow region
I've created an adf query panel with table(using all queriable attributes criteria) in a page fragment and at design time it's showing properly. But when inside a region in a jspx page, the search, save and reset buttons of the query panel are not rendering when i'm running the page. Please help.
Its hard to give any solution without any information like your JDev version, what happens if you drop the query directly in the jspx page, what exception you get in console etc.

ADF Query Panel with Tree Table -- Add Fields
I created ADF Query Panel with Tree Table using JDeveloper 11G. Under Advance Search, Add Fields pull down only list the fields in the master table. My questions are,
1) Can I search fields in detail table? If yes, how can I do it?
2) How can I customized this pull down list? Currently it just show the entire view of master table with unnecessary id type data.

Are there anyway to search the second level node?You can. But you need to evaluate if the arrangement works for you.
I assume you have a view link from the master to detail VO.
To do so, in your master view criteria (the one which you use in the query panel), shuttle the attributes of your detail VO (in master attributes list, you'l see the detail view link accessor - on selecting this, the detail atteributes are available to you)
In the Add Fields, it shows as student_id AND student_name. I was unable to delete the student_id field in the view since it is PKYou can set its 'display' UI hint to 'hide' in your VO. -
BPM Payload bind to adf query panel with table
hi guys,
i have a requirement to process all result row in the table to my bpm process.
i have a bpm taskflow and already defined the payload xml.
in the taskflow UI, i hv a adf query panel with table from a criteria View object.
how can i bind the search result to the bpm payload ?
i tried to bind it directly, but it turns out error.
or do you hv a better approach to this requirement, so i can add/remove row in table dynamically ?

Processing a cursor of 11,000 rows and Query completed with errors
So I have 3rd party data that I have loaded into a SQL Server Table. I am trying to determine if the 3rd party Members reside in our database by using a cursor and going through all 11,000 rows...substituting the #Parameter Values in a LIKE statement...trying
to keep it pretty broad. I tried running this in SQL Server Management Studio and it chunked for about 5 minutes and then just quit. I kind of figured I was pushing the buffer limits within SQL Server Management Studio. So instead I created it as a Stored
Procedure and changed my Query Option/Results and checked Discard results after execution. This time it chunked away for 38 minutes and then stopped saying
Query completed with errors. I did throw a COMMIT in there thinking that the COMMIT would hit and free up resources and I'd see the Table being loaded in chunks. But that didn't seem to work.
I'm kind of at a loss here in terms of trying to tie back this data.
Can anyone suggest anything on this???

As Erland suggested, you can compare all rows at once. Basing on my understanding on your code, the below code can lead to the same output as yours but have a better performance than cursor I believe.
