Query in Essbase/EAS Business rule

How can I assign an Account member which is of type Text in BRs?
Ex: If I have account member 'TrueorFalse' with SmartList 'TrueorFalseList' associated to it.
SmartList has entries (True, 1) and (False, 2) besides the default entries.
In business rule
TrueorFalse = 1 is working but TrueorFalse = "True" or TrueorFalse = @member("True") is not working.
Can anybody help?

Hi
I think that there are separate security roles that determine access to Business Rules, it shouldn't just be because you have given them administrator access to the Planning app.
Take a look at the Shared Services User and Role Security Guide (link to v11.1.2 doc attached)
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/hss_admin.pdf
There is further security possible in Business Rules via EAS so if you assign the user a role less than administrator you should be able to restrict there access to specific rules.
Hope this helps

  • CDF @JExportTo does not work in EAS Business Rules

    Hello,
I have registered the custom defined function in 11.1.1.3 and it is registered properly in the application (log). @JExportTo works fine in a calc script but if I try to use the same code (without any variables in the first place of course) in an EAS Business Rule (not Calc Manager), HBR does not recognize it as a function and gives me code validation errors.
Any help is very much appreciated!
    Many thanks,
    Michael

    renatew,
did you try using "To or Cc" instead of the localized version? I think that Mail uses the actual header names for those rules, the localized names in the standard selection or UI-only.

  • Associating an outline with Business Rule in EAS

I have seen it on couple of environments, after restarting services, you need to access Hyperion Planning application in Workspace before are able to see Planning application in EAS Business Rules. Initially none of the applications appear in 'Select Database Outline' box.
Does anyone know, if this is a bug, issue with configuration or actual functionality?

  • Mixing geospatial queries with business rules

Is there an easy way to incorporate a Spatial-/Locator-based geo-spatial query into an Oracle Business Rules rule? For example (pardon my psuedo-code):
IF pub within 2 miles of my house AND pub sells cider THEN walk to pub
If not then is there another way to break down this sort of problem?

    Hi Sri,
    1. Basics of BR ( Business Rules ) can be found in planning document ( there are 2 planning docs 1. user guide and 2. Admin guide). Pls find that
    2. From Planning perspective , we create Business Rules ,which are nothing but another version of essbase calculatino scripts , thats why you do see in EAS.
    3. Essbase training does not include Business Rules ( planning does include). If you are comfortable with calculation scripts, then BR's should be comfortable to you.
    4. To see BR's in shared services , I have a question , did you install Planning and all.

  • Business Rules Performance

    Hi all,
We have problem in giving access to the business rules. This is the scenario, once you open the business rule navigate to access privileges tab and then once you hit 'ADD' its taking about 2-3 minutes to open the user list window. Is that something expected behavior with 9.3.1.0 or its bug.
Is there any fix available for this or there any performance settings needs to changed
    thanks

    Hi,
This is where it can get a little confusing, as you have installed EAS 9.3.1.3 then it should be patched on the business rules side to 9.3.1.1.9, so in theory should include the fix
7002317 – Performance must improve for accessing a business rule in Essbase Administration Services console and working with access privileges.
as this is on the EAS/business rules side and was addressed in 9.3.1.1.7
Planning is now at patch 9.3.1.1.11 so it may be worth applying the patch as it addesses all the issues from 9.3.1 base to 9.3.1.1.11
If problems still exist then it may be worth looking at the patches for shared services.
    Cheers

  • Business rule to use page member on form

    Hi all,
I need to create a business rule which uses a page member on the form. Created a RTP variable and used it in the Rule.Attached the rule and selected "use members on the form" and "Hide Prompt".But, Is still asking for prompt. How to unhide the prompt?

Is it a calc manage rule or an EAS business rule, which version of planning.

  • Business Rules not visible sometimes-via web and smartview

    We use EPM 11.1.2.
we have a unique problem-Business rules (associated with forms)sometimes fail to appear either via web or smartview for our users. After logging out and back in,sometimes they appear again.
If we explicitly 'disconnect all' from smartview, close Excel, and go back in again, then the rules are visible.
It is becoming hard to tell when the users can or cannot see the business rules.
All users have the right provisioning-interactive user.
Has anybody seen this kind of behavior before?
We had a similar issue a while back-with eas web versus eas desktop client. Oracle gave us a specific fix for the eas business rules problem.
    Edited by: 784749 on Sep 26, 2011 11:59 AM

Thats the strange thing; We use (native) groups to provision. This works fine for the other 5 users.
But even if I provision this one user for the Business Rules, they remain invisible to this user. (in Planning)
I discovered this morning that this user can create a new BR, but when I try to open it in AAS console I get an error
"Exception occured, Please check your log file for details."
Unfortunately, the log doesn't provide any more details. (even if I set the level to Debug)

  • Validate all business rule

hi, is there a method to validate all business rules quickly in an application?

I take it you are talking about EAS business rules, if so I am aware of being able to validate all the rules at once.
The only way I could think of was to use the command line launcher to run through all the rules and use the -validate parameter.
    Cheers

  • Upgrade Business rules with Calc Manager

    Hello Gurus,
Recently performed an upgrade from 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.2.2 by replicating the Database to a new database machine.
I had Business rules in 11.1.1.3 and did not perform any steps to migrate the rules to Calculation manager in 11.1.2.2
    The doubt I have is,
    1. Are the business rules automatically upgraded when performing upgrade by EPM system configurator (since the database is replicated)
    2. If so, how do I see the business rules in 11.1.2.2 environment? How can I use migrate feature option.
    Thanks
    HyperionEPM.

    From 11.1.2.2 documentation:
    Upgrade Wizard
If your application used Oracle Hyperion Business Rules, the Upgrade Wizard automatically converts Business Rules business rules to Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager business rules. Release 11.1.2.2 supports onlyBusiness Rules business rules as the calculation module.
    Notes:
•Classic application administration is now called Oracle Hyperion Planning application administration (versus Oracle Hyperion EPM Architect application administration).
•The Upgrade Wizard automatically upgrades applications having Oracle Hyperion Business Rules business rules, converting them to Calculation Manager business rules. However, the Upgrade Wizard does not automatically convert Release 11.1.2.1 applications having Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager business rules. For those upgrade instructions, see the Oracle Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Guide.
Business Rules Maintenance Release and Upgrade Installation PrerequisitesIf you are using Business Rules, you must migrate to Calculation Manager rules in Release 11.1.2.2. Before migrating business rules, you must perform prerequisite tasks. Note that these tasks are required if you are applying the maintenance release or if you are upgrading.
To prepare to migrate Business Rules, perform the following tasks in your current Business Rules environment before installing Release 11.1.2.2:
1.in Business Rules, within the Rule Editor, remove the associated outline (that is, the design time location) from each business rule. After you do this, the Associated Outline drop-down list should display the text, Select Outline.
2.On the Locations tab of the Rule Editor, ensure that each business rule has a valid launch location, which must be an absolute location. Although “All Locations” is valid in Business Rules, when you migrate business rules, you must provide the details of a specific launch location (that is, the application type---Planning or Essbase, the server name, the application name, and the database or plan type). If you want a business rule to be valid for multiple launch locations, you must provide the details for each location. The locations must be in different applications; you cannot migrate the same business rule to different plan types in the same application within Calculation Manager.
If the rule is a part of a sequence, then the launch location of the rule within the sequence must be one of the launch locations listed in the Locations tab of the rule.
3.On the Access Privileges tab of the Rule Editor, ensure that each business rule has security defined for a specific location or locations and not “All Locations.” If multiple locations are defined for a business rule on its Locations tab, you must add security for each location individually.
4.Do not modify rules in Calculation Manager until migration is completed.
5.If you are using Business Rules with Planning, as a precaution, create a backup of the rules: Use Administration Services to export the rules to XML in Business Rules format. If you are upgrading from 11.1.1.3 or 11.1.1.4, also export the rules to Calculation Manager format. EPM System Configurator exports the rules during database configuration for use during application upgrade.
6.If you are an Essbase-only Business Rules user, you must export business rules. To export the Essbase rule from Business Rules:
a.From Administration Services Console, right-click the Business Rules node and select Export.
b.Export the rules in Business Rules format and then select all of the Essbase rules in the repository. If you are upgrading from 11.1.1.3 or 11.1.1.4, also export the rules to Calculation Manager format.
c.Specify the location to save the XML file, and then click OK. If you are upgrading, the location should be a shared drive that is accessible from the upgraded environment.
Make a note of the location. You import the file later in the process.
Migrating Business Rules to Calculation Manager for use with Planning
If you applied the maintenance release to move from Planning Release 11.1.2.0 or 11.1.2.1 to Release 11.1.2.2, and you were using Business Rules rules, you must migrate the rules to Calculation Manager rules.
Before you migrate, ensure that user directories and native users with the same SID are available when you upgrade Shared Services.
Ensure that the Planning applications are upgraded to the current release and are available in Calculation Manager under SYSTEM View.
To migrate Business Rules rules to Calculation Manager rules:
1.In Calculation Manager, select the migrated Planning application, and then select Migrate.
The data that was exported during database configuration with EPM System Configurator is imported to Calculation Manager.
    2.Repeat for each Planning application.
3.Deploy the rules from Calculation Manager to Planning. See the Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager Designer's Guide.
After migrating business rules and rules security, if any of the rules had multiple launch locations and you migrated to more than one location, Calculation Manager creates a rule for the first migration, and shortcuts for all subsequent migrations. If the rule had rule-level variables, for the shortcuts that are created in the application in the new environment , its variables are moved to the Plan level. In this scenario, test rules in your environment to ensure that they work as expected.
If you still have problems, raise an SR and we can get on a call to figure out why the rules are not coming over.

  • Business Rules will not launch or open in EAS or Planning

The Business Rules will not open or launch in EAS.  Additionally, they do not show up in Planning at all.  The error received is "Exception occurred. Please check your log file for details."  As of Friday, everything was working fine. On Monday morning the issue started.  The only thing that occurred over the weekend was the weekly stop & start of all services.
    Addiitonal Info:
    Version 9.3.1
Can create new rules, but after saved, cannot launch or re-open
Can view the business rules in EAS, cannot open, launch, or validate
Cannot view any business rules in Planning
Have already tried stopping and starting all services
    Have already tried different ids.

  • Business Rules Icon in EAS Enterprise view

    Dear All,
I am currently using Hyperion planning 11.1.2.2, in EAS the Business rules icon (To use graphical mode) is not displayed in Enterprise view.
EPMA and calculation manager are not installed, I use instead classic application .
When I checked the roles attributed to admin user (Provisioning Tree) in Shared services, I did not find Business rules Role in the "Available Roles" Panel (the left one : there is only essbase cluster, foundation and planning)
Is it related to essbase installation? I did not install essbase integration service.
PS: when I created my application I could not choose Business Rules in the Application creation panel, it was not available back then
    thank you for your help.
    Regards

From the docs : "Oracle Hyperion Calculation Manager has replaced Oracle Hyperion Business Rules as the mechanism for designing and managing business rules, therefore, Business Rules is no longer released with EPM System Release 11.1.2.2. If you are applying 11.1.2.2 as a maintenance release, or upgrading to Release 11.1.2.2, and have been using Business Rules in an earlier release, you must migrate to Calculation Manager rules in Release 11.1.2.2."
    Cheers

  • Error connecting to Essbase Server when running business rules

We recently migrated from v9.3 to v11.1.1.3. I have two users with Administrative access who need to run business rules on a native Essbase application, but cannot. They get the message 'Error connecting to Essbase Server'. They get this message when trying to set this execution database. They can't even expand the server to see the list of applications. I have tried deprovisioning them in Shared Services, refreshing security, then adding it all back in and refreshing again, but it doesn't work. My own id has identical access to that which I'm granting them, and I have no problems. I even created a native user with the same access and it works as well. No matter what I do, I cannot get these two users to be able to run their business rules in EAS.
We also have a Planning application, and the Planning Administrative user has the same issue. However, this user is able to get around it by running rules using the Planning connection rather than the Essbase connection. She has the same issue of not seeing anything under the Essbase Servers when trying to set the execution database though.
In version 9, we were not using Shared Services for Essbase security. Unfortunately our consultant chose to set it up using Shared Services security when migrating, and according to the documentation, one cannot go back to using Native Essbase security.
I also tried running the Externalize Users wizard and the three users with issues failed to externalize. My own id did, and the native user I created succeeded.
Has anyone experienced an issue like this or have any ideas on how to resolve?
    Thanks,
    Sabrina

Follow up - Oracle has finally resolved this. It's so simple, yet no one thought to check until now. The three users with problems all have mixed case user id's in ldap. They have always logged into EAS with all lower case ids. In version 9, on native security, this was never a problem. But in version 11 using Shared Services (not sure which factor changed it), it doesn't work. The simple solution is to log in with their exact mixed case user ids. It only took Oracle three months and the creation of a bug issue to figure this out for us.

  • EAS does not show Business Rules node

I'm in the process of validating an 11.1.2 Planning installation. This is the development environment, so one Essbase server, one everything else server.
One of the issues I've run across is that my client install of EAS does not have a Business Rules node (I am staying away from Calculation Manager because of multiple horror stories from multiple sources I have heard about it).
However, it does show up in the launched-from-the-web version.
The web launched release numbers are:
    EAS 11.1.2.0.00.462
    APS 11.1.2.0.0.615
    HBR 11.1.2.0.0.722
And now this gets really weird. The client launched release numbers are:
    EAS 11.1.1.2.0.00.462
    APS 11.1..2.0.0.615
    HBR *4.1.1*
Somehow my clean install has magically gotten the last release of Planning 4's Business Rules?
It sure sounds like something didn't get installed correctly. I was able to find this thread regarding the same problem:
How to add HBR plugin in EAS console
    In that thread, RahulS wrote:
To sort this out give a try to copy common/log4j folder from the sever to the client or install the Integration Services Client on the machine where the Administration Services Console is installed.Unfortunately, there are multiple log4j folders and none (that I can see) that have a parent of common. Can anyone give me some guidance as to if this is a good solution and if so, a better hint as to what log4j folder I should grab?
    Thanks,
    Cameron Lackpour
P.S. I found the install log for EAS and found two errors at the end of the install process, but I believe these are related to writing an icon to the desktop. This doesn't surprise me as this Vista laptop is locked down tight.

There you go I was on the right track, who needs oracle support :)^^^Isn't this board a sort of unofficial Oracle support? I have to admit that after my first fruitless search of the KB on support.oracle.com, I purposely came here first before I had the client log a SR.
That's wrong, of course, or at least a little illogical, given that the customer pays for support and after all, answering these kinds of questions is sort of their primary job. Putting on my ODTUG hat, KScope 2011 is going to have a support symposium that is going to focus on process (like why is Cameron so brain-dead that he can't type 'EAS and node' into the KB search field which pops up the obvious answer?) so that people don't do a time waster like I just did. It's going to have some pretty big names and I hope you all can come.
I'm going to forward this thread to my contact at Oracle support as evidence that even "intelligent" people could use some help with how to do searches, no matter how elementary that may be.

  • Error accessing Business Rules from EAS

    Hi,
I am using EPM System 11 and trying to access Business Rules via Essbase Adminstration Services Console (EAS). When I open up the Business Rules node from Enterprise View, and select Repository View > Rules, a list of all the Business Rules is displayed. However, when I try to click on one to open it in the editor, I received an error message from EAS the reads:
Business Rules Error. Error creating DBUserGrpObjLinkTable. Cannot continue.
When I click Get Detail, it just displays Detail: null. This occurs when trying to open any of the Business Rules. In the past I have had no problem creating, editing, and launching business rules from EAS.
I am still able to successfully launch the Business Rules I have already created and assigned to my Planning application FROM the Planning Web Application, but I am not able to edit them or create any new ones in EAS. Does anyone know what has happened to cause this error? It appears as if something happen to the one of the tables in the relational database that was configured during the installation of the EPM system? I can provide more detail if necessary. Thank you.

I have restarted the services and that did not solve the problem. This may be a stupid question, but I'm not exactly sure who I would contact at Oracle about this problem. Can someone tell me where I should look for this?
Also, I have a bit more information from the logs that may be helpful in solving this. Here is an excerpt from the hbrserver.log:
2009-12-09 03:28:10,656 WARN main com.hyperion.hbr.core.AccessControlManagerServer - HBR repository is not configured. HBR will not be available.
    2009-12-15 10:25:02,656 FATAL http-10080-Processor4 com.hyperion.hbr.core.AccessControlManagerServer - Error creating DBUserGrpObjLinkTable. Cannot continue.
It appears that the HBR repository is not configured? I am confused because Business Rules were working fine just last week, and I'm not sure what has changed. Also, I can still successfully run Business Rules from Planning. Any ideas on how to fix the repository? Thanks.

  • Trouble Creating Business rules from EAS

    Hi All,
I am new to Essbase and Planning. I am facing trouble creating Business rules from EAS. Every time I click on Business rules it shows login failed...

    Hi,
Welcome! I believe it could be an access issue. Take a look at this: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/hbr_admin_help/ch03s02s01.html
I would also check the provisioning. Here are the Business Rules roles: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/epm_security/apas08.html
    Hope it helps.
