Query in Web Generator, plus other stuff

Hi,
In a Web Server app I need to be able to accept input from the user then - based on this input-restrict the rows returned in the query form. Suggestion on how to do this??
Also, again based on the input from the user, I need to display (only) some data (via unbound items??) which is stored in the database.

By the way this problem is specific to Internet Explorer, in Firefox TAB button is functioning properly..
Any idea on Internet Explorer settings, I have added to Safe Sites ??

I have a wifi printer and its a real pain in the *** to have to keep turning on the wifi to use printer. I was hoping that once I've made a wired connection I could leave my wifi on so I could use my wifi printer.
Is there a way to tell me whether I've got a wired connection to my hub or whether its going through wifi?

Right, sir. Went to the genius Bar, ordered a vodka and coke, then got down to business. As predicted, my iMac connected immediately to their 5GHZ "Demo" network. But we managed to suss out what was going on at home...
Here's what my issues were down to:
The UK restricts the use of 5GHZ frequencies as we have our BBC and other organisations who rule over the distribution of radio frequencies in order to make money etc etc. So the iMacs sold over here aren't enabled to pick up certain frequencies.
Also, my Airport Extreme BS was bought from my recent visit to the US, so that also has "different" frequencies that it broadcasts. So, between them, they weren't able to shake hands. My slightly older MBP and iMac Core2Duo, are not afflicted with frequency restrictions, so they were able to pick up the 5GHZ frequency without being arrested by the Radio Police.
The Genius suggested a way round the problem, and it worked:
Connect a modern Airport Express n to the AEBS with an ethernet cable, and set it up as a Bridge, and to Create a network - 5GHZ ONLY. Name the new network, input WPA2 or whatever is your preference, and press "update" when all is done. Now, the new 27 inch gets, 300 megawotsits, as does the MBP and the other iMac gets 270 megawotsits (not sure why it gets less). All the other older Macs get either 130 or 54 depending on age, but the Macs upstairs the previously struggled to get a wireless signal at all, now get full bars - probably because I have closed down the WDS setup I was forced to use because of the decayed wireless signal up there.
So, all is well. Two networks, one fast, one not quite so, but working very well nevertheless.
I hope that helps anyone else trying to achieve the same thing.

Running Adobe Application manager finds the relevant updates but won't download / install them. Clicking the update button results in an error message "Application Manager has stopped working". This is a windows system running 64 bit Windows 7

Hi yes that works well when the new ipad hasn't been used. Trouble new one has been used for two months or more, has lots photos email etc etc. I am worried that these will go. When we did iPhone thru same process finished up with two of most things pics and emails. The emails alone were over 2 thousand and wife reluctant to delete them all. I would and just sort pics. Any other ideas

Display Bex Query in Web

Hi,
I want to display the Bex query directly in web.What are the possible ways that i can do, for the user to view the report in the web.Can anyone tell me how to configure RRMX in this case or how to do the settings for user to navigate from user menu to the required BW report directly from the SAP work bench.?I have tried linking from User Menu where the java servlets blocking the navigation.? Do i need to follow any configuration for this too?

Hi,
There are multiple ways to display the query in Web:
->Web Analyzer: In the query designer you need to click on the web symbol it will take you to run the query in web in the explorer. For this your server need to be setup contact your basis team for the same.
->WAD: After creating a query, you can display the same using Web application designer. Here you need to check the Java Settings to be installed.
->EP: You can copy the link generated from the query can be copied and displayed in the Enterprise portal.
There is a search option available in the SDN , you can search for more information regarding the same.

Initial selection screen missing when execting a query via web

Hello all.
We have a problem when we try to execute a query in web. We developped queries via query designer and we published all in a role. By doing it system generates a link that makes possible to execte this query via web. The issue is that sometimes the initial selection screen doesn´t appear (and the variables are "ready to input".
Could anybody help me?

In the WAD properties of the webtemplate.. carefully look for 'Force Variable Screen' Check that option..
Save and rerun the same.. it should be able to see the screen after that..

Results mismatch between query and web item

Hi SDN,
I have a query which produces 12 fiscal quarters for the last three years and the query is working when I run it by itself. The query is based upon a multiprovider.
I use this query as a DP for a checkbox web item. When I run the web-app, the web item (checkbox) generates a lot of values, far more than what the DP query by itself generates.
How is this possible? What is it that I am doing wrong?

It could be that the web item is retreiving the values frm the master data .. as Bhanu has mentioned - there is a checkbox / dropdown for the properties of the web item for droipdown where you have to change it from master data to posted values or you can also set this in the BeX tab of the particular infoobject. That way it would fetch values from the transaction instead of fetching the same from master data.

Error while running a Query on webi

Hi Folks
I just installed a BOBJ edge standard 3.1 and trying to configure and test it the very first time, I have following issues if you can advise the solution., I would really appreciate.
1. when i try to create a test query on Webi Rich Client and and run query, I get the follow messge:
A databse error occured. The database error text is : [Microsoft] [ODBC Microsoft access driver] could not use (unknown);
file already in use (WIS 10901)
2. The other issue I have is that when i create a test query on the webi (infoview side) and try to run the query I dont see any result like column, rown or fields, all I see is a solid yellow block which I believe is because of kmissing Java connector. can you guys pls let me know if this is the reason I dont see the report or Is there any other reason for that.
I would appreciate your help on this.

What type of database did you build your universe on? Access? SQL Server? or other? You would need to go into the universe you are trying to use for the report go into File, Parameters, and see what your connection is, and while you're there, click "test" to be sure it is working. If not, that is your problem. If it is, but the report still is not working, either way, you will need to go into Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Data Sources (ODBC) and set up a system DSN that links to the correct database. Again test it to be sure it works. Then make sure the universe has a connection that uses this same DSN. The report should run.

CSS (some, not all) not showing up in browser, but fine in DW. Plus other desperate issues....

I would really appreciate any and all help I can get to solve these problems as I'm new to CSS/HTML (completely new) and have been attempting to code my design just well enough to get it uploaded and working as a site. Once I can atleast achieve this feat, I plan on completely converting to CSS. But for now, I need to get the site working and I really didn't want to come and bother all of you on here with my problems and have been procrastinating posting on here for absolutely ages now....but since I can't figure all of the messy-uppy ness going on on my own, I beg forgiveness for any of your time wasted on my problems .
Okay, so the "main" issue here is that I can see some(some, not all) CSS on DW, but I see NONE whatsoever when I go to preview in browser, same after uploading. I do have all of the files uploaded and placed in the correct directories, including the stylesheet, and images folder. But, nope, nada. Now, I did think this was a root/directory problem, maybe the url's weren't pointing to the right directories. I checked and attempted to fix this several times and any changes made no difference. Also, uploaded to the root of my site, where all files and folders are where they should be, yet no change. I am utterly clueless as to what is going on here....
Second: Padding, or margins added through CSS for the divs is simply not working in DW or otherwise. I have padding placed on all of the content type areas with writing/content in them and despite the fact that the changes to the font/text formatting I've made show up, the padding does not. This is only in DW since no CSS whatsoever is showing out of DW anyways. I would like to know how to get the padding and the formatting, just all of the CSS in general to actually show up in browser/when uploaded.
Third: The next issue is also confusing, and this only occured after I made the page into a template and uploaded the home.htm page I created from it to my site. For some reason, the image called "../images/aurora2_14_content_marg.gif". Is appearing at the very top of the page for no reason at all. I don't understand why it is there, or how it even got up there in the first place.
Fourth: This was actually next on my list of things to figure out once I've gotten all of the above issues taken care of but since I'm still drawing a blank after 2+ weeks on how to get this done in a way that will work I guess it couldn't hurt to ask on here and get some expertise on the matter. The issue is that I have a repeating background (images/bg.png) that I want stretching downwards as I add content to the page. I have this placed as the main background for the entire site as you will be able to see in a moment through my code/site. Now, the place I want this to start is from where the aforementioned image (../images/aurora2_14_content_marg.gif) stops. However, I want the content to actually start from 20 pixels or so from the top of that very image. I want to try and achieve this through the use of margins but since the margins and padding are not showing up I hve been unable to experiment with it enough to figure out any other way to achieve this. Any suggestions on how to achieve this would be much appreciated.
Fifth (yes, unfortunately we're still going): As you may be able to see through the design I have two seperate areas for the main content and the navigation and other such items to be placed. To clarify, the content will be placed(through the use of expandable content boxes, once I figure out how to work that) beginning at the aforementioned image/td/div (../images/aurora2_14_content_marg.gif) with a bit of padding or margin from the top and sides (too pull the content towardsthe center of the site rather than all over from left to right like it is appearing now). The navigation etc will be placed where the long cyan area is under the search bar. For both of these, I cannot figure out how to split my one background image and also the content_marg.gif image into the two divs/or whatever else would work to split their contents from eachother. I think that seperating them into 2 divs with padding from the sides and eachother and seperate top paddings (I want the navigation to begin more near the top of the page than the content). The issue here is, I cannot figure out how to do this.
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Also, any tips on how to achieve the code for the solutions provided would also be very much appreciated, as I am only just starting out coding.

How can I create a query with web service data control?

I need to create a query with web service data control, in WSDL, it's query operation, there is a parameter message with the possible query criteria and a return message contains the results. I googled, but cannot find anything on the query with web service. I cannot find a "Named Criteria" in web service data control like normal data control. In Shay's blog, I saw the topics on update with web service data control. How can I create a query with web service data control? Thanks.

I am on BO 4.0 SP05 Patch 6. Webi reports are just showing processing but not giving results. When I try to create new report it is throwing java security error.
Tried applet patch upgrade(From link : https://websmp207.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000902752013E) for webi certificate but didn't help.
Please suggest what could be done.

Please check Discoverer configuration guide which tells you which parameter to change in preference file(pref.txt).I think you change the value.

Variant for a query in Web

HI,
In my query I had a User entry Variable (Multiple Single Values) on 0DEPARTMENT.
I had give a list of 2000 departments in a excel file.
When I execute a query in WEB (7X Template) my requirement is to create a Variant so that if selected all the 2000 departments are included
How can I paste all the 2000 values in the variable screen and save it as a variant

Hi,
For this you will need to create variant for the query in RSRT transaction. Just goto RSRT transaction. Provide the query name and click on Query Variants button. You will get a n option to create variant for the query. paste all the 2000 values for that particular variable of the query and save it as variant.
Now when you will execute the query in the web you will get an option to select that variant from the query.
