Query modification problem after Business Content upgrade

Hi,
We have upgraded two systems from Business Content 3.1 to BC3.3. After the upgrade we have a problem when opening queries for modification: a dialogue window is opened and system says:
"AUTOMATIC CORRECTION
The following objects were not found when accessing server
Press 'Repair' to correct the problem (incorrect parts of the query are automatically deleted)
Press 'Cancel' to undo the last action
Missing objects:
- InfoObjects
| |- InfoObject 0HIER_VERS
- Affected Items
 |- Hierarchy version"
Strange thing is that the problem cannot be reproduced on consultants' laptops, only on clients' PC-s, so we believe there must be something about Windows/Excel security that produces the error message.
Have you ever experienced this (kind of) problem before? Do you have any idea what I should check?
I checked
 - Macro security settings in MS Excel,
 - logged on to the PC's as Administrator
 - logged on to BW with clients'/consultants' user ID's on clients'/consultants' PC's, problem appeared only on client PC-s
 - SAP GUI version (it is the same)
 - MS Excel, MS Windows version (the same)
I have also checked InfoObject 0HIER_VERS, it really does not exist in the system. But it does not exist in our Production system either, while the query is completely the same in both systems.
0HIER_VERS is a "technical attribute" (as I read in an SAP documentation - however, I don't really understand this term), it is attached to 0CS_GROUP (Consolidation group).

Suggest performing the steps related to data load, change run, query & web template execution. Make sure you are selecting the standard objects (delivered by SAP) pertaining to the respective area while performing the test.

Business content upgradation risks

Hello BW xperts,
I am a newbie in SAP BW using BW version 3.1. Our client team is planning on a business content upgrade from version 3.1 to 3.2, in which I dont have any experience. They want to know what are the risks involved, especially,during situations when the standard SAP objects, being used in queries, get modified;is there a need to manually activate the objects or does it happen automatically?

Problem in Business content activation

Hi experts
After activating business content i am getting the following message.
Log could not be written to output device T
Also ,The selected objects are not getting activated
I checked RFC connection , but i am getting rfc connection is ok

Hi,
when you are installing the business conetet does you checked the source system option of that objects , check both the self source sysytm and R/3 source system and try toi do install.
once again cam e out of the ( log off) and do collect the one object with wiyh only necessary objects and do installation , once it is succeful then try for all objects.
In your case when installing for that object all the tablesa nd every thing shoulkd be formed but Log could not be written to output device T log is not appering .
so it is better try with each object first then go for all objects.

Business Content Upgrade Activation Procedure

Hello Everyone,
I'm looking for a procedure or best practices document that will help me with the steps I need to follow when activating business content due to an upgrade when some of the objects have already been activated and are being used in PRoduction. As an example, we upgraded our BW system to 3.5 but didn't activate any of the Business Content so everything continued to run just fine. Now we activated a new InfoArea that overlapped some of the objects that were already active. A good example is 0REGION. The DataSource in R/3 changed to use a different table for the view so new fields are now available which are actually the same as the fields that were already there but with different names. So the transfer rules show as modified/inactive. I transferred the new structure from R/3, replicated in BW, and changed the transfer rules to use the new fields. Is this the procedure that needs to be followed for any object that was put on the tranport? I've also noticed that many InfoObjects are on the transport but the only change I can see is that the content version changed so if the InfoObject didn't really have any changes, why the version change?
As I mentioned, this is the first time we've activated new content after an upgrade and I'm totally in the dark as to what the procedure should be to follow to get everything cleaned up and up to date.
When you are activating a new area, do you pick and choose which objects you want to activate/match or do you generally just activate the entire InfoCube or InfoArea?

Hi Diane,
I think you should go with infosource or may be with application component. Collect everything of that area and let the system check the already active objects so that it is not just activating the new content but enhancing already active objects with the new content features. But take care, this option is only available when you start this activation in foreground. In background there is only a overwrite mode available which might lead to a loss of developments.

Problem with Business Content install in ECC5 IDES

Hi,
I am having tough time installing business content.
After installing ECC5 IDES, I am trying to install Business Content in BW ( Client 800).
In SBIW, (under Business Content DataSources), I did Transfer Application Component Hierarchy.
Then I transfered few DataSiurces ( 0MATERIAL_ATTR)
Then in BW, I did "Replicate Data Sources". I see all the Datasources in "Data Source Overview"
But When I try to install Business Conetent ( rsa1>> Business Content >> Select Object Types >> InfoObjects>> Select Objects>> Double click ), I couldn't find any InfoObjects from source system. I tried the same for InfoCubes as well..
Am I missing anything?? I appreciate your help.

ECC will have content for 'source system' ie datasource and extractors. On your BW system you need to have the business content add on available before you can see such objects there (infoobjects, cubes).
BW system (whether in the same IDES or another system) needs to have this BW Content add-on. It is one additional step, just having the BW system (without this addon) will not give you what you are looking for.
BW content add-on is typically one set of transport files, installed using SAINT transaction. My guess is your system doesn't have it.

Different Problems during Business Content Installation in BI 7.0

HI GURUs,
          I'm working on BI 7.0. Here I'm trying to do business content installation and facing the following problems.
Question 1:
          Let's say when I'm trying to install 0MATERIAL infoobject
Scenario 1:
( with Necessary Objects as Grouping), the job is finishing succesfully, but when I look for 0MATERIAL in Infoobjects of Modelling it is found in Unassigned characteristics Node where as it should have been in 0MMIC_CHA01 Catalog & secondly it's not in Active state. When I tried to manually activate it I'm getting the error stated in Fig 1b of attachment.
When I tried for Object Maintanance of 0MATERIAL in Business Content Screen i'm getting the same error (Fig 1a & 1b).
Scenario 2:
(_with Dataflow before and afterwards as Grouping_). In this scenario i'm getting the issue shown in fig 2. I would like to understand why this issue is popping up, specially the source system issue.

Question 2:
         Why are many of the infoobjects like 0Customer, 0Material etc getting assigned to Unassigned Characteristics instead of getting assigned to their respective Characteristic catalogs.

Hi,
Maintain the material number length in your BW system, tcode- OMSL. Due to this you are getting error, conversion settings are not found for 0material. Check in your source system, what is the material number length has mantained by functional team.
It will sove your issue.

Weird problem after the last upgrade(10.4.8)

Hello all,
I am using a 1.66mhz MacMini with intelcoreduo. After the last upgrade
2weeks ago. I begun to encounter weird behaviors(those does not happen
all the time, but happens..) from my mac. I'll try to list those
behaviors below:
- trash can sometime can not empty, I have to open the thrashbin and
delete manaually by selecting each file to delete
-finder failing to open a new window.
- when i take screenshot, it only appears when i try to find it over spotlight
- and worst of them all, recent files downloaded on my desktop disappearing sometimes and only way to reach them ise search on finder, when spotlight finds it, it appears back again).
These are all so weird kinda behaviors. I am curious if any of you
having the same problems, or rather these problems has been allready
pointed.

I've seen some of those before but on a G4 Tower, so far never on my Intel Mac Mini.
I've seen screenshots not appear on the desktop until much later or when a new file is brought or created on the desktop. Likewise, I've seen the same behaviour with some files I've downloaded (to a specific downloads folder).
I remember stuffit 9 or 10 had a bug similar to this where when you expanded a an archive it was "empty" until you moved a new file into the folder or made a new file/folder in it, then it would show you the files that were actually in the expanded archive.
Try repairing your permissions and booting from your Mac OS X install disc and running disk repair.

IPad email problem after version 6 upgrade

My email stopped working after accepting the upgrade to version 6. My settings appear right and everything worked before the upgrade. Any suggestions?

I did that, but the service is intermittent. I never know with any certainty whether or not an email will go through.

Explain plan looks different in steps 19 to 28. I am not sure why 10g have more steps

I have no experience in 8i. I do know 10g does costing different from 8i. So I think the other plan might got elliminated.
Normally when I see differences. I just collect statistics on the tables and the indexes and remove the hints. Hints are not good . This has helped me to solve few problems.

Spatial query performance problem after upgrade to 10G

I am in the process of converting my database from a 9i box to a new 10G 64-bit box. But I have found a problem which is causing some reports to be slower on the new box. I have simplified the queries down to having the user_sdo_geom_metadata table joined to use the diminfo in the queries (I know that I am not using them in these queries, but I simplified for testing purposes...)
If I run the following I get and look at the explain plan I get full table scans for both spatial tables and index lookups for the user_sdo_geom_metadata table queries and runs for about 14 seconds.

When the query window comes from a table Oracle always recommends:
1) Use the /*+ ordered */ hint
2) Put the table the quiery window comes from (geometry-2 in the query) first in the from clause
However, your query is also written very strange. Do you know about SDO_WITHIN_DISTANCE? Or are you trying to do SDO_ANYINTERACT (since the distance is 0)?
So I would write the query you have as:

PROBLEMS AFTER 5800 XM UPGRADE TO VERSION 40

Yesterday,I updated my 5800 with FW 40.0.005. I really impressed with the new easy way of move in touch screen but this version has a big problem that I considered.
First,you have to set as a ring an .mp4 file or any video file and then lock your mobile 5800.
When you have an incomming call the screen isn't working normally and it stops for miliseconds and starts again! sound also !
Does any one having two moving bars on down side of screen while a call comes in while in lock mode one saying answer and another unlock , I think this is the problem for screen and sound not working normally, Is there any way to stop this bars

Let me explain my problems since updating. The alarm clock....wakes you up but the STOP didn't work on prior versoin too well BUT this is much worse you get the snooze to work only. It is the same on reminders for the calender. You have to do about 5 snoozes before eventually it dies giving up on you pressing whatever secret button it is.
Also the Contacts Bar on the top is really hard going - the contacts didnt migrate too well either, all my telephones swapped to main contacts instead of mobile which will no take all week to sort out. OHHH and the slide thing is pure luck if you get it to slide to new contacts let alone the one you want to call (if by chance the dont have a mobile that is!!).
The Camera continues to be totally **bleep**, too much flash man!! why they don't understand a choice of 1 or 2 LED's at Flash settings would be a LOGICAL thing to do real soon.
The Sortcuts on the bottom are great but could be even better if there were less times the torch (bright lights) I use was activated while I just finished a call putting it in my pocket forgetting to first lock the screen. Hours after feeling my leg was on fire there it was leaving me a dead phone before even getting to work in the morning...
I feel NOKIA has employed idiots on the testing phones OR just don't care!
I am sure I could go on but all makes sence to buy something else that does exactly what it says on the box. I am feeling stupid that I did not read the problems pages before I bought this BEST of BEST during my search for a good investment on a cel phone. NEXT has to be something beginning with EYE
For those who are interested why I chose to purchase this **bleep** read on. ON+ON!
My first phone was a SONY Mars Bar 1992, it was way too big and eventually fell into the toilet whilst I was being nice at a girlfiends house by lifting up the toilet seat, The thing slid out my shirt pocket. It did me the great favor of opening the door to a smaller and way more powerfull Nokia.
It lasted 2 years and I killed it slowly with the abuse of sitting on it, dropping it, but one day the centre button had a heart attack. I decided to upgrade again and got a Nokia GSM with camera, was pretty poor also but it was a low resolution thing but works to the day and in fact my wife is using it and still loving it. She didn't like the pink sony I had bought on holiday that unfortunately had 12 languages but not Spanish - how wierd is that??? Nor French either come to think of it Froggy.
Anyhow I do feel truly ripped off. It's no wonder the company that sold this phone is out of business. I feel guilty after buying one let alone selling so many.
These are my thoughts - probably worth that penny

24 inch iMac Screen problems after 10.5 upgrade

After upgrading to 10.5 i have had many issues with the display my iMac (white) 24inch Core 2 Duo. I have corruption resulting in horizontal lines across open windows and in some cases on the desktop itself. Some of the button text turns bright green. The iMac in question was purchased with the NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT graphic card upgrade. I have run the 10.5.1 software update and the firmware is all up to date. Has anyone had the same issues? Does anyone have a fix? Help please.

If your iMac keeps on freezing it could be a hard ware problem, the first thing to do is run Apple Hardware Test on your iMac.

OBIEE(11.1.1.6.8) dashboard prompts "Please Wait" Problem after the automatic upgrade of browser

We have a problem in OBIEE(11.1.1.6.8) dashboard prompts after the upgrade of Chrome browser.. The values of dashboard prompts are not shown to user ( with message "Please wait" ) We had this problem in Internet Explorer 10. So we had announced the users to have minimum browser versions Chrome 12+ , Firefox 17+ , Internet Explorer 9.x as its is declared in certification matrix. Now after upgrade (automatically)in Chrome version 30.0.1599.101 m , we have the same problem and the only working browser remaining is Mozilla Firefox. What should we do to prevent this without upgrade or patch ? Is there any workaround ?

Encoding problem after File Content Conversion

Hi SAP gurus!
we're about exporting debitor data via PI into CSV files. Therefore we use a mapping to an intermediate structure. In the receiver file adapter a file content conversion is done into the target CSV format.
We have a lot of data with eastern europe characters. Right after the mapping, everything is fine. All characters are processed correctly. After the file content conversion, the files written on the target system contain "?" instead of the special characters.
Does anybody have any hint to fix this problem? We already tried to change the "file.encoding" parameter, but hasn't helped.

thanks for your reply.
First, I have to explain, that the sender side isn't done by file adapter but IDoc adapter. So I cannot change the encoding on sender side.
Both on IDoc and file side, the data is ok. Only when inserting the file content converion, the files become corrupted.
Without using the FCC, tjhe target files are stored as UTF-8. When using FCC the files are stored as ANSI. (I tested this by opening the files in notepad and performing "Save As")
Do you have further ideas?
