Query on Custom Serialisation using Bottom-up Web Service Deployment

Hi experts,
We have created a Java Service endpoint interface that uses custom Java value type classes. As per the dev. guide, Remote Interface is extended and the method also throws a RemoteException.
But we want to handle faults as well. In order to do that, when we try and throw a SOAPFaultException(or a CustomException which extends SOAPFaultException), the same(the generated ear) is not getting deployed in the Enterprise Manager. I can see in the generated wsdl that the entries for "Fault" are added after throwing the exception but the deployment doesnt happen. It gives the error "Operation failed with error: Error compiling :D:\product\10.1.3.1\OracleAS_1\j2ee\home\applications\asd\DialogDeployService-web: compilation error occurred ".
I could also see from the dev guide that the concept of extending the remote interface and the throwing of the RemoteException for the methods was introduced in 10.1.3. So, it is a bug that we are not being allowed to throw any other exceptions other that the RemoteException or am I missing something? Pls help out with the same.
Thanks
Pramod

Any suggestions?

  • How can I o create, modify or delete users using OIM 11g web services?

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to create, modify or delete users using OIM 11g web services.
    The end users will be signing on to the online application, a user interface to request ids online. The user interface is the home grown application to request ids.
    I want to integrate this user interface with OIM 11g. I generated the java classes using the out of the box wsdl file as mentioned in the Developer’s Guide for Oracle Identity Manager 11g. But I need to know how to create users using web server client from a given wsdl file? Is there a sample web service client program to create a user in OIM?
    If you know of any document which I can follow or if you can give any details I really appreciate.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Viraf

    Hi Chong,
    Were you able to figure out the approach? I am facing the same issue like this. I have created a web service where the input values are no. of days to extend user's end date and user's employee ID. Output will be true or false. But I am getting error while searching user in OIM DB. I think my web service is not to query OIM DB
    Please let me know if you have worked on this senario.
    Thanks,

  • Using WebCenter Spaces Web Service API through JDeveloper's Data Control

    Hi,
    I'm trying to access WebCenter Spaces Web Service API (located at http://host:port/webcenter/SpacesWebService)
    using JDeveloper's Web Center Data Control.
    I created a data control in my portal project using JDeveloper's Web Service Data Control wizard.
    I also created and configured key stores (jps-config.xml) at both sides (spaces server and my portal client).
    How I created a data control:
    * First I entered the name and the URL (http://host:port/webcenter/SpacesWebService?WSDL)
    * Then I entered HTTP basic authentication details (user name and password)
    * After that I drag-and-drop the getGroupSpaces() method from the data control to a .jspx page as a ADF read-only table.
    * Then ran my portal project and navigated to this .jspx page and it worked. List of group spaces appeared well on that page.
    The problem is that I got only public group spaces and group spaces created by the user I entered on HTTP basic authentication details.
    I makes no sense to enter some static user details in a web service client (or a data control).
    So the question is; can I use identity propagation to get only group spaces created by the same user which I logged in my portal?

    Hi,
    You generally get NameError when you are executing the createCred/updateCred from a incorrect location. Are you using the wlst from oracle_common\common\bin?
    Also, In your steps I don't see what you did to populate the walllet at JDeveloper end after your updateCred failed. This is a required step. Use the wlst from the location emntioned above and you should be able to proceed.

  • Create Lead with Oracle BPEL process using Siebel CRMOD web service

    I'm trying to create a lead in the siebel OD (hosted) with a oracle BPEL process and using the siebel web service (2.0). In my bpel process I've been able to
    1. Login to OD and get a session id

    5. Call the leadInsert operation on the partner link

    Hi,
    We are also using BPEL to send data out to SIEBEL CRMOD.
    I've created a proxy that deals with authentication and session management.
    All you have to do is to deploy the proxy as a war file and refrence it as the end-point of your partner link.
    Code is here:

  • Connect to SharePoint web service using the XML / Web Service connector

    Hi experts,
    I am currently trying to display my SharePoint list in Crystal Report. Therefore my plan is to use a SharePoint web service to get the data and paste them to the Crystal Report.
    Is it possible to use the "XML and Web services" connector of the Crystal Reports database expert?
    When I enter the web service URL, for instance:
    https://[url]/_vti_bin/lists.asmx?wsdl
    and click next... I have to enter the web service credentials.
    On the next page I have to enter Service, Port and Method.
    Do I have to enter the service URL again here?
    What If, there is no port? Can I leave that field empty?
    I know the methods, but where can I add the mandatory parameters?
    Thanks for any helps and comments!
    Sebastian

    Hi Ananth,
    thank you, but this document does not help at all.
    We are using Crystal Reports 2008 SP2.
    We want to use the Web Service Connector.
    What I need is more informationen about the Web service connect. For example - the connection in Microsoft InfoPath is much easier - there I don't have to enter a port and can choose the methods from a list.
    Is it possible to use the Crystal web service connector for MS SharePoint Webservices?
    Or must I use the Crystal SDK to carry out a connection?
    Best regards,
    Sebastian

    Hi
    You can use a java web service to publish a Web service from a Java class.
    A wizard creates the WSDL document and deployment files needed to publish your code as a Web service. After you select the class and methods you want to publish, the wizard generates deployment descriptors, a JAX-RPC mapping file, and a WSDL document that can be deployed to an application server.
    You can refer : \bpel\samples\tutorials\102.InvokingProcesses\ws sample to invoke a WS using JAX-RPC Call.
    Hope that helps!

  • How to copy List item from one list to another using SPD workflow using HTTP call web service

    Hi,
    How to copy List item from one list to another using SPD workflow using HTTP call web service.
    Both the Lists are in different Web applications.
    Regards, Shreyas R S

    Hi Shreyas,
    From your post, it seems that you are using SharePoint 2013 workflow platform in SPD.
    If that is the case, we can use Call HTTP web service action to get the item data, but we cannot use Call HTTP web service to create a new item in the list in another web application with these data.
    As my test, we would get Unauthorized error when using Call HTTP web service action to create a new item in a list in another web application.
    So I recommend to achieve this goal programmatically.

  • How to Specify Metadata When Adding Content Using iTunes U Web Service?

    I've been developing Java applications using iTunes U Web service and uploaded content to iTunes U site using iTunes U Web service without problem. Now I want to add metadata fields (name, artist name, album name, etc.) for the tracks I uploaded. It seems to me that "AddTrack" will do. So I tested it but it neither adds a track under the specified group nor updates metadata fields for an existing track. It turned out "MergeTrack" actually updates metadata fields for an existing track. So is there any way to specify metadata at the time of adding content using iTunes U Web service? And what exactly does AddTrack do? This is all about contents hosted by iTunes U site and no RSS is involved.
    I'm referring to the "AddTrack" method in iTunes U Web service:
    http://deimos.apple.com/rsrc/doc/iTunesUAdministrationGuide/iTunesUWebServices/c hapter18_section_21.html#//appleref/doc/uid/AdminGuide-CH13-SW26

    Thanks for all the replies. My question is whether there is any way to specify metadata WHEN adding content using iTunes U Web service. Specifying metadata AFTER adding content can be achieved by MergeTrack (weird naming) and it does work.
    As for setting track level meta-data in the media file and then upload it, there're several reasons against that, among which are:
    1. Some track metadata are context-dependent. A video about buildings on Michigan Ave in Chicago can be track #2 in a history course and described as "historic view of the Magnificent Mile", but the same media can also be track #5 in a landscape design course and described as something like "contemporary architecture". Setting these metadata in the media file itself is not the preferred way to do it since it implies maintaining a version of the same media for any course/group it gets uploaded to.
    2. Setting metadata in a location separate from the media file helps track the metadata change and search for media without digging into the media itself.
    3. If MergeTrack "updates" metadata, there got to be some other method that "creates" metadata - that's what a well-designed API should look like. And setting metadata in the media file is not an equivalent to a "create metadata" method call. In rickwolf's term, that implicit AddTrack should actually be made explicit so the party uploading content can explicitly specify metadata instead of having iTunes U extract metadata from the media.
    It is still not clear what "AddTrack" does exactly, maybe rickwolf is right - it's only relevant to tracks created through RSS.
    So it seems to me there is no other way to specify metadata WHEN adding content using iTunes U Web service than setting metadata in the media file. To me it is more like a design flaw.

  • Using a Java Web Service in a BPEL Process

    Hello.
    I am newie with Oracle Soa Suite and BPEL process and i have problems. I have developed a Java Web Service, first developing the Java Class and then using the wizard to create a Java Web Service.
    Now i want to develope a BPEL Process that use this Java Web Service. I have tried it with the component Partnert Link from de palette and looking for the java web service wsdl file. I have tried it with the component Java Web Service from the palette. In both of them, it happens the same, it appears erros looking for the wsdl or looking for something that the wsdl use. If someone could try it. Its easy. Create a Java class with one simple method. Create A java web service with the wizard. Then create a BPEL process and try to use it with a partner link.
    I have been trying it one week...
    Thank you in advance.

  • Using SSL for Web Service Access

    Hi,
    I'm not sure if this the best forum, but this is technically a J2EE question.
    I'm using JDeveloper and OC4J. I have a java class that I'm publishing as a stateful webservice; however, the only clients will be other java routines. (I generated a WSDL file and then stubs.) This webservice has to run on a Windows 2000 box inside of OC4J. I have this done and can call it from across the network from a Linux box. This all works fine. However, I need to add security preferably by going to SSL. I can't find out how to do this. Does anyone know? Do I manually edit the generated stub files? Any chance there is some sample code somewhere?
    thanks,
    Joe Gamache

    Please look at Appendix A of the "Web Services Developer's Guide" from iAS v9.0.2 covers Oracle SOAP. The section, "Working With Oracle9 iAS SOAP
    Transport Security", covers using SSL.
    Here is a simple example with steps:
    Prerequisites
    1 . Suppose you have configured Apache to use SSL , that is
    -     Apache has a valid server certificate
    -     Apache requires the client certificate
    -     Apache has a bundle of root certificates of CA with wich it can trust client certificates
    -     Apache is in front of OC4J with mod_oc4j (9.0.2) or mod_proxy ( 1.0.2.2)
    For more information on this please refer to Oracle9i Application Server Security Guide
    2. Have a working knowledge of Oracle Wallet Manager
    Steps
    The following steps let you use an https web services client
    1.     First you need a certificate store in order to store the private key , the client X509 certificate and some trusted authorities. This store in our case is a wallet exported by Oracle Wallet Manager.
    2.     In order to generate a correct wallet you need :
    a.     Start the Oracle Wallet Manager ( OWM )
    b.     Create a new empty wallet
    c.     Generate a Certificate Signing Request (CSR )
    d.     Import the X509 certificate that the CA generated from the CSR
    e.     Import the root certificate of the CA that trusts the server certificate you would like to connect to ( that of Apache )
    f.     Export the wallet
    3.     Let's call exported_wallet the wallet that we exported from OWM , and lets put it under c:\temp . Suppose that the wallet password is camarda.
    4.     The JDK you plan to use for your client , in the extension directory ( that is $JDK_HOME/jre/lib/ext ) , must contains the following library
    a.     jcert.jar
    b.     jsse.jar
    c.     jssl-1_1.jar
    5.     Oracle SSL library use JNI in order to implement some low level encryption API , so you need a shared library usually located in $ORACLE_HOME/bin . For NT platform this library is njssl9.dll . Be sure to have this library in your path
    6.     Now given a WDSL , use the Jdeveloper wizard to generate a proxy
    7.     Modify the URL end-point from http to https
    8.     Add to the proxy the following lines of code
    System.setProperty("ssl.SocketFactory.provider","oracle.security.ssl.OracleSSLSocketFactoryImpl");
    System.setProperty("ssl.ServerSocketFactory.provider","oracle.security.ssl.OracleSSLServerSocketFactoryImpl");
    System.setProperty("java.protocol.handler.pkgs","HTTPClient");
    System.setProperty("oracle.wallet.location","C:\\temp\\exported_wallet");
    System.setProperty("oracle.wallet.password","camarda");

  • If you use AXIS for Web Services then..

    I have been working on a Web Service the last 2 weeks and finally got a connection working with JAVA and AXIS. The question I have is this. First off, my code listed below is so very simple and it works. Now all the so called examples that I have seen out there seem to have the code replicated from the SoapBindingStub file and if I try to duplicate the way that they have there code, I can not get it to work.
    At the end of this file is a sample of what I have seen others posting. So what all should be in my client to communicate with the stubs of the Service?
    Why would the others be so redundant by putting code from the soapbindingstub into a client?
    Assuming you already have a web service deployed.
    You have gotten a wsdl.
    You have ran WSDL2Java on the wsdl
    Your client would look like the following.
    import folderPathToWSDL2JavaGeneratedFolder.*;
    public class MyClientCallerToWebServiceX {
       public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
                   // create an instance of our service locator
             MyWebServicesServiceLocator locator = new MyWebServicesServiceLocator();
                   // create an instance or our SoapBindingStub
             MyWebServicesSoapBindingStub stub = (MyWebServicesSoapBindingStub) locator.getMyWebServices();
                   // make a call to a method we created in our web service
           System.out.println("Data on server: " + (stub.getSomeMethodOfMine("pass in a value").toString()));
    Others type of coding........
    import org.apache.axis.attachments.AttachmentPart;
    import org.apache.axis.attachments.Attachments;
    import org.apache.axis.client.Call;
    import org.apache.axis.message.SOAPHeaderElement;
    import org.apache.axis.message.*;
    import javax.activation.DataHandler;
    import javax.activation.FileDataSource;
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.xml.namespace.QName;
    import org.apache.axis.encoding.XMLType;
    import javax.xml.rpc.ParameterMode;
    import org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.JAFDataHandlerDeserializerFactory;
    import org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.JAFDataHandlerSerializerFactory;
    public class NC
    public static void main(String [] args)
    try
    Call call = new Call("web service address");
    //insert session id into header
    SOAPHeaderElement header = new SOAPHeaderElement("http://xml.apache.org/axis/session", "sessionID", 575757);
    call.addHeader(header);
    //testing attachment stuff
    DataHandler dh = new DataHandler(new FileDataSource(""));
    QName qnameAttachment = new QName("NescaumReport", "DataHandler");
    call.registerTypeMapping(dh.getClass(), //Add serializer for attachment.
    qnameAttachment,
    JAFDataHandlerSerializerFactory.class,
    JAFDataHandlerDeserializerFactory.class);
    call.addParameter("iID", XMLType.XSD_INT,
    ParameterMode.IN);
    call.addParameter("startDate", XMLType.XSD_STRING,
    ParameterMode.IN);
    call.addParameter("endDate", XMLType.XSD_STRING,
    ParameterMode.IN);
    //Add the filename.
    call.setReturnType(qnameAttachment);
    Object ret = call.invoke("", "generateData", new Object[] {new Integer(21),"11/11/2004", "11/12/2004"});
    catch (Exception e)
    System.err.println("Error : " + e.toString());
    }

    Sorry if this sounds like I am new to this but I am.
    So, the extended version is the format that would be used if you were not utilizing the files that the wsdl2java function creates?
    And this is done to when you want more flexibiility for the user to call your service?
    So, you would push to have the stub files used when you want to control how the web service is used?
    thanks for the feedback.

  • Complex schemas using Document Literal Web Services

    I am trying to use document style web services and top down approach. I prepared a request, response and fault schema. In those schemas i have attributes defined. When i use WSCOMPILE, it does not generate proper classes, if the schema is too complex. It has worked only for simple schemas. Is there any other way of doing it?

    Hi!
    If you are using jwsdp 1.6 or earlier and I remember correctly this uses JAXB 1.0 for databinding, which doesnt support all schema constructs.. Even if I'm wrong on that, you could use the -f:nodatabinding option with wscompile and do your own databinding with for example xmlbeans, which supports all schema constructs and is far more flexible than jaxb 1.0 (= personal opinion ;-)
    good luck!

  • Using message-style web service by a Microsoft client

    Does anyone have a sample Microsoft client using message-style web service? BEA
    does not provide one. I found MS client does not receive messages published between
    2 calls to method "receive", while the sample Java client ConsumerClient.java
    does.
    ConsumerClient.java is like:
    while(true){
    Object result = method.invoke(null);
    sleep(20000); // not in sample, added for my test
    System.out.println(result);
    My VBScript code is like:
    Set SC = CreateObject("MSSOAP.SoapClient")
    SC.mssoapinit "http://localhost:7001/msg/Receiver/Receiver.wsdl", "", "", ""
    While TRUE
    Res = SC.receive
    WScript.echo "Res = " & Res
    Res = ""
    ' do something that takes 20 seconds
    Wend
    I added 20 seconds between calls so I can publish a message between 2 calls. I
    found the Java client receives the message but the VBScript client doesn't. Has
    anyone else observed this?

    Hi Kevin,
    Thanks for your feedback.
    Header support is planed for the next major release.

    Hi Manoj,
    Can you use SOAP header to pass session id accross instead of HTTP header? MS
    SOAP toolkit 2.0 support access to SOAP header.
    My app needs to use topic instead of queue. But as I said earlier, I can use MS
    XML toolkit to access HTTP header. So I have a work around.
    Thanks for all your responses with regard to this question!

    Hum! i thought you were not able to receive message at all. now
    i understood the problem. yes we are using http header to pass
    session id accross, in the case of web service client who wants
    to subscribe to JMS topics. I cant think of any other way to do
    this. if you have any suggestions, i very much like to hear it.
    for your application is it possible to use queues instead of topics?
    we do not use http session information in the case of JMS queues.

    Hi Manoj,
    Your sample code is basically same as mine. It would also lose messagespublished
    between calls to "receive" method.
    I figured out what's going on. Undocumented by BEA, the web servicesends JMS
    session ID in HTTP header along with first message. When client makessubsequent
    calls to "receive", this ID must be sent back. I found this by usinga SOAP trace
    tool.
    Unfortunately, MS SOAP toolkit doesn't support access to HTTP header.So one has
    to use MS XML toolkit to use message-style web service, when writingMS clients.

    I have not tryed message style web services with MS soap toolkit.
    I think the problem is because the WSDL for the message style
    web service use xsd:anyType as the return type and MS soap is
    not able to understand it. can you pls modify the xsd:anyType to
    xsd:string (or someother base type) in the WSDL.
    SC.mssoapinit can load wsdl stored as a local file. so it should
    be easy to make this change.

  • Rt web services deployment failed

    I have a sbrio 9612 that I setup with an executable and web services.  I can get it to run great.  I then took an image of that one (using RAD) and deployed it to another sbrio 9612.  The web services don't work.  I then tried to deploy webservices the second sbrio with my project, and I came up with the error in the attached picture: Web Services Deployment Failed.  The NI Application Web Server is still loading.
    All I can find about that is issues when deploying to a laptop with a wifi card, but nothing about that with a RT unit.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Eric.

    I have redeployed the firmware several times and it still doesn't work.  It works on the original unit I took the image from, but not on the unit I'm deploying the image to.  Using max is not an option because these are basically in an OEM environment and if I distribute an image to a customer they will not have national instruments installed.
    Besides, that defeats the purpose of taking an image, if it works correctly in one place, you should be able to take an image of that and deploy it on another unit.
