Query on Decentralised Ware house System Sizing
Hi Folks,
I have to measure the disk space requirement for our client production Decentralized warehouse system (Please note this is not extended ware house system which is part of SCM. It comes along with pure ERP -ECC installation).
As per our Warehouse Management functional team we are not sure on how much data we pull from R3 to WM system.
In this case how to do the sizing to determine the disk space for WM system. Please note our R3 System DB size is 3.75 TB.
Kindly provide me your inputs on what based we have to perform sizing on the above explained scenario.
Regards,
Vinod
Hi,
Have you checked the alias /sizing on service marketplace? I hope it can be of help

Interface between business ware house system and SAP SD module
hi,
I want to develop interface between business ware house system(file adapter) and SAP SD module. how can i post the data into SD system? can any one tell me which Idoc i should use in receiver side?
if i want to go abap proxy how can do it?
give some inputs(methods which i should use)
Thanks in advance
regards
RubanHey
the selection of IDOC depends upon what you wanna post into SD.get in touch with the ABAP guys and they should be able to tell u exactly which IDOC to use.
once u have decided on IDOC,you can go for a File to IDOC scenario.
as far as proxies are concerned, they kinda give better performance compared to IDOC but you need to do ABAP coding for them,in that case u dont need any IDOC
Thanx

Order Data Ware House SD report?
Hi all kindly give a solution for this scenario
If there are no quantity on the request, it will not show a u201C0u201D order quantity there u2013 it will show the first promise quantity by its side and show the promised quantity there. Please change your query as per that and do not put the schedule lines as it is from order table. There will not be any row with 0 quantities.
Explaining the case which you asked u2013 1 piece requested on 11-Dec and promised on 12-Dec will appear as below
Request Date Promise Date Order Qty
11-Dec 12-Dec 1
Once invoicing happens, invoice quantity will drive the query.
Just take an example - 3 pieces requested on 11-Dec, all the 3 promised on 12-Dec, only one was invoiced on 12-Dec. As on 12-DEC, it will appear as below:-
Request Date Promise Date Invoice Number Billing Date Order Qty
11-Dec 12-Dec ABC 12-Dec 1
11-Dec 12-Dec 2
If the rest of the 2 were billed on 15th Dec, it will appear as below on 15th Dec
Request Date Promise Date Invoice Number Billing Date Order Qty
11-Dec 12-Dec ABC 12-Dec 1
11-Dec 12-Dec DEF 5-Dec 2Yes all jobs are running and cubes are also processed.I have two server 1)Dataware house server containing sql database 2)Service manager console .
I didn't connect operation manager server but i created one incident manually from "service manager console ">work items .So it should show in the data ware house incident report . -
How to get the document number for a ware house order.
Hello gurus,
how to get the document number for a ware house order. [if GI is posted refering that WH order] .. is there any report?
Thanks in advanceThere are several options. When you post a Goods Movement, you can use LB12 -display Transfer Requirement for material document or LB11 Display TR for material.
Depending on how your system is set up you may have gotten a Transfer Order automcatically. In this case you can look at LT24 - Transfer Order for material. -
Stock transfer between one ware house to another warehouse
hi all,
i moved the the stock within the warehouse(bin to bin).my client requirement is move the stock from one ware house to another warehouse in same plant /storage location. so i need the configuration steps for that.
appreciate your help always,
yours
muthuraman.dHi
Hope you are using different storage location for different warehouse within same plant.
Use Movement type 311 - Location to location stock transfer to transfer the material from one warehouse to another ware house.
Make the Auto TO enable at the movement type level so that system will generate the TO automatically when you do the transfer posting. Also possible to confirm the TO autmatically at movement type level.
Hope it helps.
Thanks /Karthik -

Stock Placement during Return Delivery in Ware house
Hi All,
We have a scenario where client while returning the material to ware house want to place it in different bin. Currently the process is carried out through LT0G but here system is proposing the destination bin (original bin) as the same bin from where the batch stock is picked. Now due to some unavoidable reason before PGI user wants to unload the batch stock and place is it different bin. For this purpose currently we are first confirming the Transfer order created for return of batch stock to original bin and again creating a new TO to place the material from original bin to new destination bin. how can we avaiod cration of this extra Transfer order.
BR
MukeshLT0G provides the option to place the stock in a different bin than it came from, this is even he usual way in our warehouses since the bin where the material was picked from is again occupied by other stock.
The TOs are actually evidence, they shall usually reflect the physical movements in a warehouse.
if you have already moved your material out of its original bin, then you need another TO to get it back or into any other bin. TOs are not even just an evidence, they are instructions, they are the communication method to instruct a warehouse worker to do something. So you should not try to avoid this important step. -

Listed below are the areas of Customizing you need to check to ensure you have fully maintained the foreign trade master data, check objects, and proposal objects. Because the systems defaults depend on settings in Customizing, the more fully you maintain this data, the more complete the data in the purchasing and sales documents will be, and the more efficient the system will be to use.
You can access the Implementation Guide (IMG) to customize your area of interest via your project from the SAP standard menu by choosing Tools ® AcceleratedSAP ® Customizing ® Edit Project. In the IMG for R/3 Customizing, make entries in the appropriate items in the checklist below to ensure that the Foreign Trade application component is prepared for use.

Hello friends,
I have client interview on this "WARE HOUSE MANAGEMENT AND LEAN WARE HOUSE MANAGEMENT" . So please help me out by sending good material. Really waiting for good support.
Thanks,
Rams.from here questions are also asked in the certification exams, so here's a point-wise rant:-
If you have a warehouse with random storage, you need to use the WM System with full functionality. Since a material can be stored in different storage bins or even several storage bins at the same time, precise inventory management at the level of the storage bin is required.
 Lean WM does not have inventory management at the level of the storage bin and is therefore more suitable for fixed bin warehouses. In a fixed bin storage area, the material is always in the same storage bin.
 To print the storage bin in the picking document, you must maintain the respective data in the material master in the view "Storage 1". Maintenance of further warehouse data and the Warehouse Management views is not required.
 Some of the WM functions not included in Lean WM are listed below:
 Storage sections
 Reserve storage bins
 Strategies for putaway and picking
 Replenishment
 Inventory at storage-bin level
This considerably reduces implementation effort.
 For Lean WM you need at least one warehouse number and at least one storage type from which picking takes place and one storage type in which goods are stored (for example, picking storage type as source storage type, shipping zone as destination storage type).
 In the picking storage area, you can have storage bins grouped together from the stock removal viewpoint (for example, to distribute the workload evenly). Picking areas can be defined for each warehouse number and storage type.
 In addition to the picking area, there are other organizational units in the warehouse. These are the staging areas and the doors. They are defined in the outbound delivery or determined by the system and they can also be printed out on the picking documents.
 You can activate Lean WM in Customizing at the warehouse number level.
 You assign a warehouse number to a combination of plant and storage type. In this way, the organizational units in the warehouse are linked up to MM Inventory Management. Also, through this assignment, a status for WM activities is assigned to the respective items in the outbound delivery. -
How can i Extraxt the data form Data ware house to BI
Hello Gurus,
Our Requirement is to Extract the data from Data ware house( Informatica, Business objects)
How can i Extract and What r the steps follows
RegardsHi Lakshmi,
You can use third party tools for extraction data from DW, like PowerCenter for Informatica , BusinessObjects Data Integrator for Business Objects.
To use third-party source systems, you have to create RFC destinations from BW to an RFC server running on the third-party ETL server.
These tools usually work in a similar way. First, they extract data from the source database. Then, the tool stages the data in an intermediate database before loading it to the target system.
Transformations can occur at any point in the data flow, although you will usually want to store an untransformed copy of the data before significantly manipulating it.

1.2 Lean WM Basic Settings
1.2.1 Defining Control Parameters and Number Ranges for the Warehouse Number Defining Control Parameters for the Warehouse Number
Use
A warehouse number is an organizational unit in Logistics, which organizes the company from the perspective of Warehouse Management.
In the Warehouse Management System, you can define a variety of control parameters at warehouse number level.
Procedure
1. Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:
IMG Menu IMG  Logistic Execution  Shipping  Picking  Lean WM  Define control parameters and number ranges for the warehouse number Define control parameters and number ranges for warehouse no.(double click)

1.2.2 Defining Storage Type
Use
A warehouse number is subdivided into a variety of storage types. A storage type is defined by its physical or organizational features (for example, high rack storage area, bulk storage, and goods receipt areas).
A storage type has a short description rather than an address.
Before you can implement Lean WM, you must configure the following settings:
1. Assign a (newly defined) storage location to a warehouse number.(This step is defined by step 3.12 Control Plant / Storage Location / Warehouse Number Assignment
2. You should set up at least three storage types:
 a storage type (that will be used as a source storage type) with one or several fixed storage bins
 a goods issue area (as destination storage type) for deliveries
 an interim storage area for differences
Procedure
1. Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:

1.2.3 Defining Doors
Use
In a WM-managed warehouse, you can define dock doors (also known as doors or gates). A door is a location where the goods either arrive in the warehouse or leave it.
You can assign different functions to a dock door, for example:
Goods receipt
Goods issue
Other transactions such as cross-docking and flow-through
Procedure
1. Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:

1.2.7 Defining Movement Types
Use
The SAP R/3 System uses movement type to process movements in Inventory Management (for example, goods receipt for a purchase order or goods issue to a cost center). When the system recognizes a movement as being relevant for Warehouse Management, it assigns this movement to a WM movement type by means of a table.
The movement type for the Warehouse Management System provides the information required for stock removals or picking:
 Interim storage bin
 Fixed bin coordinate
 Control indicator for processing, confirming, and printing transfer orders
 Confirmation info
Procedure

1.3 Print Control for Warehouse
Use
Print control defines the following:
Which slips are to be printed for the movements (that is, for the transfer orders) within the Warehouse Management System
How these slips are to be printed (that is, which forms are to be used, how many copies are to be printed)
On which printer a slip is to be printed automatically
And print control manages the print operations of the warehouse. This flexibility involves a certain degree of complexity with regard to the parameterization.
Procedure
1. Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:
IMG Menu IMG  Logistic Execution  Shipping  Picking  Lean WM  Define Print control

1.4 Manual Activity
1.4.1 Maintaining Number Range Intervals for Transfer Order
Use
Maintain number range intervals for transfer order
Procedure
In this step, you define that, the Number range for Transfer order as 01 and Group number as 01, now you should tell the system how the number range would like for 01 as transfer order and 01 for the group number, for both number range, you may define you own number range, the following information just for reference:
Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:
IMG Menu IMG  Logistic Execution  Shipping  Picking  Lean WM  Define control parameters and number ranges for the warehouse number  Maintain number range intervals for transfer orders (double click)
Transaction Code LN02
Check if the internal number range 01 (0000000001-1000000000) has been defined
Once you have defined your number ranges, it is extremely difficult to change them afterwards when the objects concerned are filled with data.
Bear in mind that you will be entering data on a long-term basis. Create your number range intervals accordingly.
1.4.2 Maintaining Number Range Intervals for Reference Numbers
Use
Reference number range has the following meanings:
This number identifies a number range to be used for the assignment of sequential numbers for WM reference numbers. Reference numbers are used to create or print a group of transfer orders at one time.
A sequential number generated by the system for the purpose of multiple processing of transfer requirements and delivery notes.
The reference number can also be used to print the resulting transfer orders at a later time.
Procedure
In this step, you define that, the Number range for Transfer order as 01 and Group number as 01, now you should tell the system how the number range would like for 01 as transfer order and 01 for the group number, for both number range, you may define you own number range, the following information just for reference:
Access the activity using one of the following navigation options:
IMG Menu IMG  Logistic Execution  Shipping  Picking  Lean WM Define control parameters and number ranges for the warehouse number  Maintain number range intervals for Reference Numbers( double click)
Transaction Code LN06
Check if the internal number range 01 (5000000000 - 5999999999) has been defined
Once you have defined your number ranges, it is extremely difficult to change them afterwards when the objects concerned are filled with data.
Bear in mind that you will be entering data on a long-term basis. Create your number range intervals accordingly.

2. Ability to synchronize the system and material flow
3. Simple-to-complex placement and removal strategies
4. Assignment of inbound orders to outbound deliveries
5. Allocation of storage bins
6. Processing of all stock movements valid for WM like Receipts, issues, transfers
7. Utilizes stock placement and removal strategies e.g. Next empty bin, addition to stock, FIFO, LG/SM qtys.
8. Handle Special handling requirements (labeling, packaging)
9. Implementing with RFID one can achieve 99.99% stock accuracy
Hope this will help you

NOTES ON WARE HOUSE MANAGEMENT
Iam implemeting ware house management for RAW MATERIALS... if you have any notes on how to implement from start.. pls forward to my id ...
My client is in chemicals.....
[email protected]..
Garanteed reward...
KiranHello Kiran,
It will be typical implementation project so plan accordingly. you will have scoping, business blueprint, configuration, testing, integration testing, User acceptance testing, data conversion and final go-live with support on post golive system.
- Prepare the scoping list
- Discuss with business expert and document business processes
- Input your suggestion on SAP solution
- Analys fit-gap
- Propose final solution for gap
- Configure the system and develop objects for gap
- Carry out the testing, integration testing
- Conduct CRP and sign off the testing documents
- Plan data migration and prepare accordingly
- Carry out cutover activities and finally upload data
- Check the RF related setup and test the same.
- Finally go-live
- Check out the best practice for chemical industry
- Relevent configuration document, you can download from the first thread of this forum.
Hope this helps.
