Query or Workbook or Web Template-Process chain

Hai Friends,
I want to broadcast reports.Which type of the report is more attractive among Query or Workbook or Web Template?Suppose if we select Workbook as type,will it support for process chain which will create to automate the broadcasting process?On every data change will the workbook automatically changes it's data.Usually we will do layout settings ONLY for workbook.Will all the settings remain same when the new data is changed every month?

Hi Mohan,
You can use either of them for broadcasting, just check the requirement with your business. And using process chain you will raise an Data change event and in your broadcast setting you will have to mark the option i.e. Broadcast on data change.
So whichever queries or workbooks have that setting on the particular Infoprovider. And once you raise the data change event for that Infoprovider through process chain, all the reports will be broadcasted.

You could use one of the text elements available. Don't know the ABAP. But it should be possible. Try to place this under ABAP questions if you don't get eny answers..

Running query in default WAD web template

Hello Experts,
Can you please guide me about how i can run a query in a default web template created in BEX Web Application Designer?

you can set the webtemplate created by you as the default webtemplate from transaction RSCUSTV21.
once its set, if you open query on the web (from query desinger,etc) it will utilize the default template you have set.

How to Create/Modify/Delete a query view from the web template in BI 7.0

All:
In BW 3.5, the Query Selection View web item was introduced for users to create a query view to save the navigational state of a query. This web item was also available to modify and delete an existing query view.
The Query Selection View web item does not exist in BI 7.0. I see the drop down web item can be used to display the query views associated to a query.
Can anyone share how to create,modify,save or delete a query view on the web in BI 7.0

Sanjay, we experienced the same issue. Below are a few pieces of information that may be of help: 1-The Save As button on the 0ANALYZER template saves the query to the portal. From Bex Web or Bex Analyzer, you have no access to these saved views. We created a ZANALYZER copy of the 0ANALYZER template and removed the Save As button. 2- If you right mouse click on any item in the query results grid of Bex Web, you get a small menu. Clicking on the menu item Save View will save the view to BI. You do not have the ability to delete the saved views from Bex Web. However, you can delete them from Bex Analyzer. This was not an option for us since most of our users are using Bex Web. 3- On the same menu, clicking on Bookmark, saves the navigation and also opens the Internet Explorer Favorites maintence window. The navigation is saved as an entry into the users Internet Explorer favorites where they can organize and delete their entries. However, deleting the favorite does not delete the entry for the bookmark in BI. The bookmarks are stored in table RSWR_DATA. Program RSWR_BOOKMARK_REORG can be used to manage the saved bookmarks. We are loading RSWR_DATA into a chracteristic so that we can query the information in order to help us manage it. I hope this helps you and others that appear to be struggling with the issue of saved views in Bex Web.

Query designer report and Web Templates

Dear All,
I have a very basic/stup doubt.
Are reports made through Bex Query Designer and Web Templates the same?
Actually there is a following requirement:-
"Navigate from a BW Web template to a PCUI application". I have a document related to it but it gives me step on how can i modify my web templates to achieve this functionality. But all my reports are made through query designer and it available to user through Web Dynpro portal.
So i just wanted to know is Web Template and Reports made through query designer the same? So that i can implement the changes in my report.

by using web templates we can use N number of data providers (Queries) for a single analysis view with various available options. - N number of Queries can be assigned to Web template to create a web report
but by using the Query designer ,you can create a single report which may not provide sufficient information to the client and the number of features are less compared to web template.
as you mentioned that you are using the web dynpro.
i think the web dynpro requires the web reports as an iview and ths iview can be created by using the Query designer and or web app designer.
so the most clear view can be given to client using the WAD reports

Displaying query view name in web template.

In the standard web template (0ANALYSIS_PATTERN) there is a text box which displays the query title. I need to change this so it displays the name of the query view instead of the query. Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi Nick,
In the template you need not to do any special setting for Query View Name display.
When You use a query view in template that becomes as a data provider, so for every data provider whether that's a query or query view it works same.
You can select to display query technical name or description.

What is BEX reports and workbooks and web templates

please send me in 2 lines of each,..thx

All 3 are the different forms of Result display
Bex Reports: It is based on MS excel functionalities and output is in Excel form. All reporting functionalities like swaping, exception, condition, etc..can be used.
Workbook: Bex reports can be formated as per need..say making bold, creating your own layout, adding images. In short all excel functions. This workbook gets refresed when new data loaded to datatarget
Web Template: Here charts, combos, dropdown...wtc ca be added what is called as Template.

Displaying name of the Used Query-View in a Web Template

Hello Experts,
I am using a Query View as Dataprovider in a Web Template.
Now I would like to display the name of the View.
But with a Text Element this isn't possible.
You can only display the name of the Query.
Is there a way to display the name of the used Query-View?

thank you for your hints.
We use a template to enable users to create Views.
So its dynamic.
That way we don't know the Name of the Views in advance.
(So putting the text into 'Title' is not possible)
We already use the "Query View Selection". This works out for users that are able to see different Views. (Power User)
But is it also possible to display the Query View Name in an Item or with html methods for those templates where there is only one View (as dataprovider) we don't know in advance?

How to show Descriptions of Query on a Web template(statistics)

hi I have created a custom Query which shows data for certain queries running, but the data keeps on showing me technical name of the queries, I want my report to show description so it makes sense to my manager as they donu2019t understand technical names of the queries. I have tried changing them to text, key etc they wont work.
Query is 7.0 web template is 7.0

Actually, the way I read these notes, showing the technical name on the query selection screen is the problem (a.k.a., "symptom") that is being addressed, so I am assuming that the "fix" they are implementing is to show the description instead.

Fix table header line of Query in default web template WAD 7.0

Dear all,
I would appreciate if somebody could help me to set parameters to fix the header line of a Web-Item DataProvider (Query) in the default web template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN for the BEx Web Analyser. I mean I want to see the header line with the characteristics and key figures description even if I scroll down in the query.
My idea was to create a second frame in the template and to fill it with the same DataProvider just with the header of the Query. The problem is that the performance of the query would be badder if we load two Dataprovider/Query instead of one.

RRI : Web Template (7.0) as a receiver Query

Hi All,
I am facing a strange problem.
In sender query, I have Employee,Employee Post and Employee Start Date.
I have to pass employee to Receiver Web Template which shows Employee History.
When the employee number is passed to the receiver, it ask to enter Valid from and to date.
When I am going to RRI query by clicking on a Employee->Go to, I have to enter a date. But after that it shows all the employee with the one which I have passed.I tried all kind of settign in assignment details.
Now when I keep receiver as query on which this web template has been based, it is working fine. I am facing this issue only when I use web template as a receiver.
Any ideas will be highly appreciated.

Please check if you are performing anything or in web template or any commands or selection parameters being reset or set in template. Is this template involves any other web item apart from analysis item? Try removing them if at all you don't want them.

Different Web Template selection based on query selection values entered

Dear Experts,
We have a very unique requirement in our BI7 system.
There is a web report which comprises of multiple queries and query views embedded in web templates. There are 2 selection parameters F1 and F2 that appear on executing the report.
Our requirement is to display a unique web template to the user based upon his selections. If user enters values for both the fields F1 and F2 then we want to display report output from query views in web template T1.
If user enters value for only field F1 and keeps F2 value blank, then we want to display report output from query views in web template T2.
The problem we are facing is to decide the appropriate place where this type of condition could be coded. We do not think user exit would do the job here.
Please help if you can.

Let me please clarify my problem further.
Web Template T1 --> Query Views V1, V2, V3.
(All query views V1, V2, V3 have variables on fields F1 and F2).
Web Template T2 --> Same Query Views V1, V2, V3.
(All query views V1, V2, V3 have variables on fields F1 and F2 but this time variables would be having different values than above).
If user enters values for both fields F1 and F2, then we want to display Template T1 with F1 variable = "value by user" and F2 variable = "value by user".
If user enters value for only field F1, then we want to display Template T2 with F1 variable = "value by user" and F2 variable = "all values for which transaction data exist".
Thus, we want to display a unique web template based on whether the value of F2 is entered by user or not.
Please let me know if you need any further clarification.

Passing a variable value from one query to another within a web template

Hi All,
I have a web template with two queries. Both queries have the same select option variable called ZSELCUST on the characteristic ZCUSTOMER but because they are different info providors (both infocubes) the customer has to be entered once for each query, even with the 'Display same variable only once' flag checked.
I want the user to select the customer once and then that value be passed to the other query within the resulting web template output.
Am I right in that the same variable is used more than oncee because of the different info providors?
I'm struggling, can anyone help out there....???

A way of doing this is by "linking" the queries: in transaction RSBBS you define the sender and receiver queries. In query navigation you can jump to the dependent query (blue arrow icon in the BEx tool bar). This transfers the navigational state to the called query: filters over characteristics and variable values.

Error while executing a web template in browser

Hi experts,
I am facing an issue when I am creating copy of an existing web template and executing it.
As per the query inserted in the web template, it should show the 'variable entry' screen, but its showing a page with lots of junk characters (looks like chinese to me).
When I execute the already existing template, its showing the correct screen.
Can anyone help me in fixing this issue?
