Query regarding explicit enhancement in Zprogram

Current Zprogram fetches data from VBAK and now requirement is to fetch records from database table VBAP.
Then in this scenario, why do we require explicit enhancement section in Zprogram . We can simply comment the existing code and replace with VBAP logic.
Can anyone explain the use of explicit enhancement in this scenario.

Go to >> Object Directory Entry >>Original System check the System ID.
If it is not same then you can change it to current system's ID using SE03>>Object Directory Entry>>Change Object Directory Entries.
Enhancement framework is mainly for Standard program where it lets us add the custom functionality without taking the SCCR key.For Z programs I don't see any need to use Enhancements.

Exits are basically the hooks whcih SAP has provided to add your own code. There are two types of Exits:
1. Customer exits: Implemented as Function Modules within z includes. Anybody can change it and no access key is required.
2. User Exit: Implemented as subroutines within includes (any include except y or z includes). You need access for the specific include and then you can any subroutine (user exit) within that Include.
BADIs are the enhanced version of user exits where the same logic is implemented via classes and object (OOP)
Enchancement point is the latest once introduces with ECC6.0 . Not very sure about that but you can change it without any access key.

Implicit enhancement points are basically points within ABAP code where an enhancement point is implied, and in which case can be created. Examples of implicit enhancement points are at the beginning and end of FORMs, at the end of a program, include or function module etc. Below is a step by step demonstration of how to create and implicit enhancement point.
Explicit enhancement points are basically hooks already coded into the program by SAP at various points of the code. See program RIAUFMVK for examples of these! These are very easy to implement simply go into enhancement mode of SE80 and right click on the enhancement point where you want to add your code and choose Enhancement Implementation->Create Give it a name, description and assign it to a change request (should not be a Z package) and then simply add the code as normal

Difference between implicit and explicit enhancement points

Hi Folks,
I had learned many documents to findout the difference between explicit and implicit enhancement point.I got the theoritical knowledge on that but losing on the practical side..
Can anybody help me out with one real time scenario where the explicit enhancement points have been implemented and the step by step procedure to implement it..

Hi Rohan,
In implicit they are available at the beginning of subroutines defined in the standard reports.
Edit-> Enhancement operations->show implicit enhancement options.
This will highlight all the implicit enhancements in the report.
In Explicit enhancement we have two different types of enhancements -
Enhancement point and Enhancement section.
Enhancement point - SAP has some standard functionality defined for a report , but it may be required that you'll need to add your own code. In this case the code that you'll add will be executed along with the standard code.
Enhancement section - SAP has its standard functionality defines but it may not suit your requirement, in that case you may need to add your code and you'll need that code to be executed only. By this method the existing code is automatically commented and a copy of the same code is available to edit.
After executing the report only your code will be executed and the standard code will be bypassed.

Query on Implicit Enhancement

Hello experts,
I have a query related to enhancing a function module. I am doing phase confirmation of process orders using the BAPI 'BAPI_PROCORDCONF_CREATE_TT' in a module pool program(Z program). I have added few z fields to AFRU. Now i need to enhance the bapi 'BAPI_PROCORDCONF_CREATE_TT' so that the z fields are updated in AFRU. In this bapi i see a function module MAP2I_PI_TIMETICKET_TO_AFRUD in which the z fields can be moved to afrud using an implicit enhancement. But the problem is that the function module MAP2I_PI_TIMETICKET_TO_AFRUD is auto generated and there is a comment in the fm saying 'Dont Change it Manually!!'. Now i need to know how is this function module generated or is there any other way to do phase confirmation of process orders. Pls Help.

Hi Ramanan R.S.,
Function modules MAP2I* and MAP2E* are generated via BDBS transaction.
As your function module is named MAP2I_PI_TIMETICKET_TO_AFRUD, it means that there's a transfer from external to internal (because of MAP2I), and from PI_TIMETICKET structure to AFRUD structure.
But I don't recommend that you work with this one. Create your own MAP2I function module. From BAPIRET2 to BAPIRETURN for instance if you're lazy like me. Store it in your own Z function group, local package.
Before regenerating, you have to look at what was the initial mapping, as it is not stored in a database table, only in the source code. Moreover, it's possible that there were some manual changes before, so they have to be applied manually, so that means a modification of standard if you had worked on a standard one. Copying the MAP2I function module to a Z one before deleting is a very good idea!
- Create your implicit enhancement. Test it.
- In BDBS, you enter transfer from external to internal, plus these 2 names in BDBS, click Generate button.
- It says "already exists", so you have to click the Delete button
- There could be a popup "is still used", click Delete to confirm
- It proposes a default mapping between fields, that can be different from what was previously done.
- That will regenerate the function module (you can make sure by looking at its timestamp).
- Test it again, you'll see that your implicit enhancement is still there.
I admit it doesn't test the situation of a true upgrade, and I don't know any documentation that confirms that the deletion of generated repository object doesn't impact its implicit enhancement. Feedbacks welcome...

i have one query regarding performance.iam using interactive reporting and workspace.
i have all the linsence server,shared services,and Bi services and ui services and oracle9i which has metadata installed in one system(one server).data base which stores relationaldata(DB2) on another system.(i.e 2 systems in total).
in order to increase performance i made some adjustments
i installed hyperion BI server services, UI services,license server and shared services server such that all web applications (that used web sphere 5.1) such as shared services and UI services in server1(or computer1).and remaining linsence and bi server services in computer2 and i installed database(db2) on another computer3.(i.e 3 systems in total)
my query : oracle 9i which has metadata where to install that in ( computer 1 or in computer 2 )
i want to get best performance.where to install that oracle 9i which has metadata stored in it.

You should know that executing a query is always slower the first time. Then Oracle can optimise your query and store it temporary for further executions. But passing from 3 minutes to 3 seconds, maybe your original query is really, really slow. Most of the times I only win few milliseconds. If Oracle is able to optimize it to 3 seconds. You must clearly rewrite your query.
Things you should know to enhance your execution time : try to reduce the number of nested loops, nested loops give your an exponential execution time which is really slow :
for rec1 in (select a from b) loop
for rec2 in (select c from d) loop
end loop;
end loop;Anything like that is bad.
Try to avoid Cartesian products by writing the best where clause possible.

b.b
from a,
b
where b.b > 1This is bad and slow.

Explicit enhancement implementation not seen in the debug mode

I have implemented a explicit enhancement implementation via a source code plugin. But i could neither keep a break point in any lines of the source code plugin nor see those lines in the debug mode. I changed the already available implementation in the enhancement section. I have implemented this enhancement for the Function Module CK_F_ASSEMBLY_COSTING. The enhancement section is as given below...

END-ENHANCEMENT-SECTION.
I created a enhancement from the above section as below...

This is a standard implementation, not yours! Moreover, this implementation belongs to switch /SAPMP/GENERAL, which may be switched off in your system (it is deactivated in mine).
If you want to implement your own one, create a ZXXXX implementation, and you'll see something like ENHANCEMENT 1 ZXXXX. ... ENDENHANCEMENT.

Throughout the ABAP system, enhancement options are automatically available at certain pre-defined places. Some of the implicit options are:
u2022 At the end of all the programs (Includes, Reports, Function pool, Module pool, etc.), after the last statement
u2022 At the beginning and end of all FORM subroutines
u2022 At the end of all Function Modules
u2022 At the end of all visibility areas (public, protected and private) of local class
To view all the implicit options available in a source code, choose u2018Edit -> Enhancement Operations -> Show Implicit Enhancement Optionsu2019 from the editor.

Explicit enhancement option
The Implicit enhancement options are provided at specific source code places explicitly by SAP (Note that these enhancement definitions can also be created by partners and customers in their code).
There are two types of Explicit Enhancement options available. One which can be provided at a specific place - called Enhancement Point, and another which can be used to replace a set of statements u2013 called Enhancement Section. For this, we now have two new ABAP statements, viz.
u2022 ENHANCEMENT-POINT
u2022 ENHANCEMENT-SECTION
When the Enhancement-Section is implemented, only the implementation gets executed and the original code doesnu2019t get executed. This is a new technique, which didnu2019t exist previously in any of the old ways of enhancing, to exclude any standard SAP code from execution. Because of this, there can be only one active implementation of an Enhancement-Section. On the other hand, there can be multiple active implementations of an Enhancement-Point, in which case all the implementations will be executed with no guarantee in the order of execution.

Query regarding updation thru a Procedure

Hi,I have a query regarding updation.
1.I invoke a procedure in Oracle called submit thru my Java application.
The submit procedure saves the XML data in the database
and displays this data in a Front End GUI.
2. Now,I make a change in my Java application by adding new elements to the same row.This row now contains additional XML elements.
I would like to display the new row with the new elements in the GUI.
What is a better option for doing the above?
1.Delete the row being shown,save the new row with the changes in the database,and re display it?
2.Or,Update the row dynamically and refresh?

Thanks,If you delete (it seems to me yours this process is regular and frequent) and re insert the new updated one record then High water mark will cause to scan yours table which may cause to degrade the performance.AFAIK you should go with update.But hold down dont implement it as i suggested lets see what are others solution here which may be more precious then mine.

A query regarding synchronised functions, using shared object

Hi all.
I have this little query, regarding the functions that are synchronised, based on accessing the lock to the object, which is being used for synchronizing.
Ok, I will clear myself with the following example :

Note that the four functions are different on the following criteria :
a) Whether the function is static or non-static.
b) Whether the object on which synchronization is based is a static, or a non-static member of the class.
Now, first my-thoughts; kindly correct me if I am wrong :
a) In case 1, we have a non-static function, synchronized on a non-static object. Thus, effectively, there is no-synchronisation, since in case obj1 and obj2 happen to call the func_one at the same time, obj1 will obtain lock for obj1.a; and obj2 will obtain lock to obj2.a; and both can go inside the supposed-to-be-synchronized-function-but-actually-is-not merrily.
Kindly correct me I am wrong anywhere in the above.
b) In case 2, we have a non-static function, synchronized on a static object. Here, again if obj1, and obj2 happen to call the function at the same time, obj1 will try to obtain lock for obj1.a; while obj2 will try to obtain lock for obj2.a. However, since obj1.a and obj2.a are the same, thus we will indeed obtain sychronisation.
Kindly correct me I am wrong anywhere in the above.
c) In case 3, we have a static function , synchronized on a non-static object. However, Java does not allow functions of this type, so we may safely move forward.
d) In case 4, we have a static function, synchronized on a static object.
Here, again if obj1, and obj2 happen to call the function at the same time, obj1 will try to obtain lock for obj1.a; while obj2 will try to obtain lock for obj2.a. However, since obj1.a and obj2.a are the same, thus we will indeed obtain sychronisation. But we are only partly done for this case.

Now, I have a query : what happens if the call is made in a classically static manner, i.e. using the statement "First.func_four;".
Another query : so far we have been assuming that the only objects contending for the synchronized function are obj1, and obj2, in a single thread. Now, consider this, suppose we have the same reference obj1, in two threads, and the call "obj1.func_four;" happens to occur at the same time from each of these threads. Thus, we have obj1 rying to obtain lock for obj1.a; and again obj1 trying to obtain lock for obj1.a, which are the same locks. So, if obj1.a of the first thread obtains the lock, then it will enter the function no-doubt, but the call from the second thread will also succeed. Thus, effectively, our synchronisation is broken.
Or am I being dumb ?

Apart from the coding bug noted below, there would be synchronization between different threads using the same instance of First.

Thus, effectively, our synchronisation is broken.No it isn't. The second thread will wait on the same First.b object that the first thread has locked.
However in any case you have a much bigger problem here. You're autoboxing your local 'int' variable to a possibly brand-new Integer object every call, so there may be no synchronization at all.
You need:
Object a = new Object();
static Object b = new Object();

Query regarding the conversion of DME file in MT940 format.

Hello Experts,
I have a query regarding the generation of MT940 file after generating the payment file from other DME tree.
After completion of payment run, my payment file is generated in the DME format which is according to the DME tree.
I want to convert the DME file (which is generated via F110) from existing format to the standard MT940 format.
Is there any standard program which converts the DME file to MT940. If so, please inform me as early.
I have tried to upload the DME file in FF.5 transaction, but it is not allowing me to convert the file in MT940 structure.
Or please inform the steps how i can convert the file .

if i have 2 table with a same column name then in the datatype under parent row node i cant add 2 nodes with the same name.
can any one help with some suggestion.

One option would be to go as mentioned by Padamja , prefxing the table name to the column name or another would be to use the AS keyoword in your SQL statement.
AS is used to rename the column name when data is being selected from your DB.
So, the query Select ename as empname from emptable will return the data with column name as empname.

Query regarding G/LAccounts in psoting

Hi Experts,
I have one query regarding PCP0.
After executing PCP0,If We double click on the posting document we can see the number of G/L accounts in that posting Document.If we double click on each G/L Account it shows all the revision information indetail for all payments cumulated into that particular G/L Account.
Some of the G/L's are appearing as single line in the posting document and if we double click for the revision information it is showing all the Wagetypes with personnel numbers and the total of each wagetype.
Some of the G/L's we can see Multiple times for each individual.
Can any one please explain where does we set up the the revision information for the G/L Accounts .
Appreciate If anyone can help to know this information.

Hi Gopal,
Counting class are assigned to the Periodic work Schedule 1 to 9 are just arbitart sequence numbers and have no meaning in general they are used for linking Pweriodic Work schedules with differences.
You can use the class for absence and attendance counting to specify different methods of counting according to the period work schedule.
They have no other meaning apart from that.
