Query regarding extended transport control

Hi All,
I read about extended transport control and I get very confused. What exactly it means.
I have a 3 clients in my DEV system xx0,xx1,xx2, only one in QA and one in PRD.
Now when searched I found..
'when you release a change request in DEV Client xx0
it will not only automatically be added to the Import Queue for QAS but also xx1,xx2 of DEV'.
We donot have extended transport configured but still I can see same number of request in the import
queue of all the 3 DEV clients. If the above is right then why is this happeing with my landscape or
have I missunderstood it?
We use Tcode SCC1 to copy client dependent request in other clients. So if an extended transport
is maintained, will that happen automatically? If not then how extended transport is useful.
Please share your ideas and help me.
Regards,
Ashutosh

Hi Sharath,
Thanks a lot for ttaking out your time to help me.You said
Mostly this kind of set up will be helpfull in scenarios where there are more than one
client in QA and PRD systems as becase if you release a request in development system and
if you are having three clients in QA systems, then you will transport the request in one client
and say if you need to have the same kind of changes in other two clients also then you need
to manually use SCC1 and copy the changes if extended tranport is not configured. If extended
transport management is configured then once you release the request in DEV then it will get
added to queue of all three clients in QUA and can be transported using STMS_IMPORT TCode
Thats what making me confused.
In dev we have 3 clients. We use SCC1 to copy the configuration to client xx1 and xx2 from client xx0.
My doubt is if we have an extended transport, request will show up in the import queue off all the development client.
So to have the same configuration we have to use STMS_IMPORT to import the request in xx1 and xx2  or SCC1.
If that is the case then it means there is no use of extended transport control in setup where we have multiple clients
in DEV server and only one one in Quality server and PRD server. As we will ultimately be using STMS_IMPORT (if extended
transport is configured) or SCC1(if extended transport is not configured) to import the request in xx1 and xx2 of DEV server.
Same goes for multiple clients in QA or PRD, as here also we can use STMS_IMPORT (if extended transport is configured)
or SCC1(if extended transport is not configured) to import the request  among different clients.Means I have to use one tcode,
either STMS_IMPORT or SCC1, then how it is helpful?
Since your target QA and PRD are having only one clients then there is no need to worry about t
his untill you are comfortable with copying the changes in other two clients of DEV system using SCC1.
My doubt is if extended transport control is configured can the configurational changes doen in our DEV xx0 be automatically
gets replicated in client xx1 and xx2?
Request you all to please help me with your valuable suggetsions.

Ashutosh

  • Problem in extended Transport control while setting up transport request.

I created a BDC program which will create a database table upon executing..
The problem is the program worked well since yesterday, But today when i executed it , it is showing a information message when creating a new transport request .
Extended transport control is not active:
    Cannot specify target client
Since it s a recording ,and all the windows are processed using an OK CODE, this info box comes all of a sudden .I dont kno what went wrong , coz it was working fine the previous day.
i could not create a new workbench request even after ignoring that info message.
Pl suggest me what could be wrong.

This message has a long text, please read it.
Check with your system administrators, if they have changed anything regarding the transport process.
In addition, instead of using "fragile" recordings, try using function modules like DDIF_TABL_PUT.

  • Extended Transport Control

I just implemented Extended Transport Control for my Transport Domain, which consists of DEV-100, DEV-111, QAS-200, QAS-220.
Now, it asks me to set the 'target client' for all the transports that are already imported.Without setting the target client for the entire import queue, it wont let me import any request.
My import queue consists of 500 odd requests that were imported prior to this, but they are still in the queue.
I need them in the queue for mass transport later on.
What target client should I set for them? Kindly advise.

    Hi,
you said, you plan to do a mass import sometime. For this, i'd use the client, in which the transport are already imported as the target client.
But remember that all newly released transports will be send to both clients in QAS!. If you import only the newly exported transports to QAS-220, the older transport which might contain needed customizing for newer transports, are missing there.
You should think about the needs of your configuration again. And clean the buffer from time to time or schedule an periodic import-all on QAS.
    Regards,
    ulf
    P.S.:
    > So, suppose I set the target client as 200 for all of these 500 requests, would they be imported to QAS-200?
    Yes

  • STMS Extended Transport Control

Anyone ever used the Extended Transport Control in STMS?  The team at my current project wants to setup a client landscape like this (not the complete diagram)...
    DEV100 >--+----+--> QA100 >-----> PROD100
              |    |
    DEV110 <--+    +--> QA120
              |    |
    DEV120 <--+    +--> QA121
                   |
                   +--> QA700
When a transport is released in DEV100, it will go to some of the clients in DEV and QA all the time, but in other clients it will be in a more controlled manner (e.g., on demand only).
I've always done multi-client transports at the o/s level using customized scripts etc to import into various clients, however since this client will be using ECC 5.00 and BW 3.5 (and Solution Manager 3.1) I'd like to get them setup from the start with the STMS functionality.  It appears to me that I need to use the TMS Extended Transport Control, and I'm just wondering if anyone has a) any experience with it (both positive and negative), and b) any quick start-type information on how to configure TMS for a setup similar to the above.
Thanks in advance for any advice

I have created 3 following client ids.200, ids.300, and ids.400 in my IDES system with the SAP-USER profile.
Login to 000 client with SAP* user for the following configuration in the Transport Management System, STMS---go to Overview click on the Transport route, Your TMS configuration will be display in the center window if done.
Press F5 or click on Pencil Icon to switch to Configuration editing mode, Click on Edit menu then click on the Transport Target Group to define the multiple client of single or multiple system which exists in your landscape.
I will prefer to work on Hierarchical list Editor Mode instead of Graphic mode, to change from graphic mode to Hierarchical, go to setting menu click on transport route editor and select the Hierarchical List Editor Mode, setting will take effect to go to  back and click on transport route again.
You have to Switch Editing mode before continue to define the consolidate route, go to Edit Menu, Transport Route and click on Create, Transport route window will display with the Consolidate / Deliver route options. Select the Consolidate Route and click on Extended Transport Control (F6) button down.
Integration system …..Will be your current or development system as source system
Transport Layer………Enter the default layer which has been created with your integration system.
Consolidation Target…Select your target group which created earlier.
Save the Configuration, activate and distribute the configuration across all systems.
Your system is ready to transport the requests to multiple systems and multiple clients

  • Extended Transport Control (CTC=1) issue

    Hello,
I have implemented extended transport control in our 3 system landscape.
After setting CTC=1 for quality system, I manually set the Target client for all requests.
However, now when any new request is released from Development system, I still have to manually set the target system for all requests as well.
I don't think this should be happening. It should automatically take the client as well.
    Kindly help resolve this issue.
    Thanks.

  • Extended Transport Control Usage??

    Hello All,
"Extended Transport Control is another way to set up the Transport Route so that the route is system and CLIENT specific"..I m not able to understand this concept so unable to implement Extended Transport Control in my SAP Landscape. Please help me..Moreover I have one more doubt..
Suppose I release a change request in DEV Client 0XX it will not only automatically be added to the Import Queue for QAS but also 0X1, 0X2, of DEV If I implement Extended Transport Control..Is there any other utility of Extended Transport Control??

Some people complain exactly the same way about me, don't worry.
At least you have stopped points-gaming with Joydeep Gupta for sometime already and from your own frustration are now forced into trying it yourself and putting more effort in before you launch your questions, or at the least while you wait for an answer. You seemed to have even used the search now as well.
I think all this should be seen in a very positive light, considered as progress and is largely thanks to the efforts of Juan.
It might take you a while, but oneday you will hopefully thank us.

  • Query regarding moving transport request

    HI all,
I have query regarding moving the transport request.
I have a main program with 3 includes. I have made some changes in the 1st include and transported it to the quality(testing). Now i made changes in the 2nd include and saved it in a different request(as request for the 1st include is already released). Now i am moving the changes of the 2nd include into the production. Here I want to know whether all the changes that i have made for the 1st include also will reflect in the production when the 2nd request is moved to production( incase of 1st include, only moved till quality) or only the changes made in the 2nd include will only reflect.
Kindly clarify as soon as possible.
    Best regards
    John

    Hi,
Thank you very much for the response. I have a query regarding the same. If i am making changes only in one single report and i am moving it to the quality. Now again i am making changes in the same report and saving it in a different request and moving it to the production. in this case, i wanted to know whether the whole changes made in the first and second request will reflect in the production or only the 2nd request's change will only reflect (since it is only a single report. there is no include in the program)
    Kindly send ur suggestions.
    Best regards,

  • Query regarding CMS transport!

    Hi Experts,
I hav an issue with CMS transport. - I hav done certain changes in a mapping for a specific name space say urn:XYZ. The software component for this name space is say SC1. This software component also contains several name spaces say urn:123. urn:456. urn:pqr. And some of them are active and some inactive
Now as per process, I hav activated my specific messege mapping and then going to TOOLS- Export Design Objects - Mode: Transport Using CMS. -- Individual Objecis -......
Now when I go to the CMS url....there after carrying out the necessary steps [ Pls refer to the following URL.This thing WILL take some time as it is a 2.5 MB file :
    http://www.esnips.com/doc/34d643fe-13b3-4c83-922a-c64db6b7e52d/Change-REQUEST-CMS-Process,-manual-Complete.
It contains a word document with details step by step screen shot showing everything in details -- see page 17 and 18. I dont understand , why in the approval tab, the SOFTWARE COMPONENT name is suggested, the reason being, if i select the SOFTWARE COMPONENT, all other name space within this SOFTWARE COMPONENT apart from my desired development get trsnaported in Production!!
EXPERTS, Pls check the doc in details, this is a kind of general manual  and tell me if I hav missed out some thing/ or hav done some mistakes , I think this can be a gud document !!
Pls note, dont study the document by the NAME oF DEVELOPMENT perspective, I hav developed this doc from time to time with necessary changes / modifications !!
    Regards,
    Arnab.
Experts, this question still remains unanswered!
Edited by: Arnab Mondal on Oct 15, 2008 9:25 AM

    Hi Suddha,
, it took me some time to prepare myself some answer.
    the conversation!
Hi Arnab not a prob. I have not got a chance today to see your latest post on the thread, was busy with some stuff throughout the day.
+ Once Again Suddha , you managed time for me,, let me tell you, mine is not a very urgent issue, but YES, I want to get to the root of it!!!+
As you have said that, you see all the objects in the Assembly Tab page, then do one thing, right after you assemble the specific component, refresh the tab
and check if the other components get removed from the list, under Assembly Tab.
Well, tet me tell you some thing, in my process, I DONT Assemble the Specific component . Let me make this part clear to you . Let me tell you the steps, I
    follow in details .
    1. Once the change is done in the mapping- I transport it as INDIVIDUAL OBJECTS, through CMS Transport.
    2. Log in to the Chanhe Management service!
3.Click on the appropriate TRACk-- that is track for integration repository
4.Click on teh aassebbly tab -- an assembly option arrives -- I select the " same suppot packages number as the last support package number!-- then click
    on the ASSEMBLE button.
    5. As a result of this all the 4 software components come into the list.
Here I select the appropriate SCV by selecting the LINE. Pls note I dont go to the SELECT Comonent button and select individual SCVs.
    6. After selecting the LINE, I go to the approval tab, there I get to see all the SCVs, with severl datse. Here, I again select the appropriate SCV of mine based
on day and time. I select the LINE-- then click on the CONFIRM button. As a result of which i get to see APPROVED, for that SCV.
    7. then I go to PRODUCTION TAB , again select the appropriate SCV line and click on the IMPORT button.
These are my steps. This is what I was tought . And now i feel , I missed certain steps .Pls correct me !
Then I must say that somehow you are assembling all the software components, somehow all the components are getting selected. I am having another
doubt, if the components have dependencies, could that be the reason for this?
Well as I described in step no 4 and 5 that I Do select the appropriate SCV in teh Assembley tab, by selecting the line but do not select it through "SELECT
Comonent button and select individual SCVs. Is this where I am going wrong????
Again, as  far as the Integration Repository developments are concerned, no two SCV has any dependency, I am sure about that, the major factor being, the
3 SCV that I am working  on are CUSTOM SCV.!
One more thing................if you are not going to the consolidation tab and importing the components into consolidation system, how are showing up in the
assembly tab. Strange! don't you think so? You need to follow the sequence of steps. Are you sure you are not referring to some older transports?
Well, this part ,I can smell RATs. Actually in my system I only have a  PI develoment and PI production server. This is my first XI proj, and the above 7 steps
were all what I was told as necessary to send developments to Production. I hav absolutely no Idea of the utility of the CONSOLIDATION TAb, and the funda
of importing the  components in the consolidation system. I donno anything about the installation of this CMS- Transport studio. But i can speak to the basis
team, and tell you , if you want to know about any specific basis settings.!!!
You need to follow the sequence of steps.
Pls tell me what am I missing !!
Are you sure you are not referring to some older transports?
That is not possible as I can check the date and time. all 3 SCV s have the same date and time. It is in the approval tab, I select the appropriate SCV and
    send it for Production!!!
    Regards,
    Arnab .

  • How to collect the deleted query in a transport request.

    Hi Friends,
I have created a query and transported it to the Quality, the data content is all ok, except that i have not used the Project Naming conventions. Now i have a defect against my name for this. I have to copy the same query with the correct Naming convention and transport it.
My question is after copying the query with correct name i have to delete the old query (if not there would be 2 versions of the same query). How do i collect the deleted image of the query in a transport and send it to quality?.
I tried deleting a test query from Bex Designer, but this does not ask me for a transport. should i use RSZDELETE?. Not sure if it asks for a transport request when i delete the query.
Can someone pls tell me how to go about this?.
    Thanks in advance.
    BN

    Hi BN,
I do agree that deleting directly in Quality and Prod is not good way and not recommeded.
I have not tried and deleted. But if the system is configured in such a way  that if it doesnt ask for a request
then i feel you have no option.
If any object is deleted then you must have the deletion image collected into request at the same point when you are deleting.Because later when we go to transport connection we wont find the object itself.
What i think from your point as you said you have done earlier  is you must have any open request regrding this query and when this query is deleted , the deletion image is also included in the same request.
So go to se03 and give your deleted query name and check all the requests.
Check in the requests when the deletion image is captured or not. we might be knowing that this is cpatured.

    Regards, George

    Hi
You can edit the parameter profile using RZ10 and RZ11. You should not copy but manually edit the parameters. Also you need to make a consistency check so that the parameters will be copied to the database from the OS level. You will find an option to perform consistency check in RZ11.
    Hope that helps.

  • Transport control program tp ended with error code 0211

    Dear Experts,
I have a problem in doing the import after the client export was successfully done.
I am actaully tring to do a client import/export from the PRD server to DEV server.
On PRD the client is 900 and on the DEV the client is 240.
I have manually copied the transport requests created into the
/usr/sap/trans/cofiles and /usr/sap/trans/data folders to the same on the DEV server.
    After coping them,
I have tried to add these transport requests to the DEV server queue, i get the following error message
Transport control program tp ended with error code 0211
    Message no. XT200
    Diagnosis
An error occurred when executing a tp command.
      Command: ADDTOBUFFER RT2KT00014 RT1 pf=/usr/sap/trans/bin/T
      Return code: 0211
Error text: no info about transport request found
      Request: RT2KT00014
    System Response
    The function terminates.
    Procedure
Correct the error and execute the command again if necessary.
After this I have tried to add the transports to the buffer at the OS level using the command
    ./tp pf=TPPARAM addtobuffer "RT2KT00014" RT1 U18 by going to the folder
    /usr/sap/trans/bin
But it says that the tp is not found.
I have also checked the permissions for the TRANS folder, it has full access i.e 777
This is where i am struck, and the client has to be imported asap as the requirement for the SUPPORT TEAM is very urgent.
We are on AIX, Oracle 10G and ECC6
    Thanks and regards
    Harry

    Dear Imtiaz,
Thanks for your quick fire reply...
The link helped me but it could not resolve my issue..
Infact i found it my self that the transport requests had to be given full FILE PERMISSIONS at the OS level
    I logged in as ROOT
and changed directory to /usr/sap/trans/cofile and gave the command
    chmod 777 RT00014.RT2 and
    chmod 777 RX00014.RT2
    and then went to STMS>SYSTEMS>Import View>Extras>Other requests--> Add ..
Here i added the request nos and then it added up in the queue and then i started the import.
Anyway thank you very for your reply..
    Awareded points to you.

  • STMS: Transport control program tp ended with error code 0232

    Dear ERP Gurus,
I just encountered problem with STMS in my PRD system. The import is just stuck up on "tp connecting to database". It won't continue unitl the system gives me this error message:
Transport control program tp ended with error code 0232
    Errors: connect failed
    The tp System log says:
ERROR: Connect to PRD failed (20090227135454, probably wrong environment)
I have verified that the suggestion in SAP Note 165708 has already been implemented in our DEV, QAS, and PRD instances.
Any idea why I am having this problem? Imports were running fine yesterday. Please help.
Your prompt response is highly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.
    Best Regards,
    Albert

    Hi Albert,
First check import monitor and delete all requests from queue, which are still getting imported.
And go to /usr/sap/trans/tmp and mv all those tmp files to other location.
Then kill all OS jobs which are getting execute with tp.
Check all jobs are runnig fine, related to transportation. If not reschedule the same.
    Then start importing.
Before doing this just check whether your stms related RFCs are working fine.
I think One of your RFC is getting struck. just try to change ip or hostname accordingly and try.
