Query Regarding OCP  certification

Hi.. I am planning on giving the OCP (1z0-043) certificates in a couple of weeks time. I am also planning to give the 11i Apps DBA (1z0-033) right after that. I have already cleared the OCA certificates a year ago.. Now, what i would like to know is Can i give both the certifications(1z0-043 and 1z0-033) in a span of two weeks and then attend the instructor led class or is it necessary that I have to clear the 1z0-043 first, attend the instructor led training and then only give the 1z0-033 exam
Waiting for a response from all you experts out there
Thanks

First of all 1Z0-033 is not for Oracle 11i Apps DBA Exam. It's 1Z0-233 - 11i Install Patch and Maintain Oracle Applications - Oracle 11i Applications Database Administrator.
Step 1:As you have already completed the OCA, then you will have to write the Oracle Database 10g: Administration 2 - 1Z0-043 Exam, then you will become as Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Professional – OCP.

Step 2: Submit the Hands On Course Requirement Form
http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=99
Step 3: You will receive your certification kit right after one month.
Step 4: Then you are eligible for wiritng the Oracle 11i Apps DBA Exam.

  • Query regarding Oracle certification for Admin path

    hi I have the below certifications under my belt :- 1. Oracle Certified PL/SQL Developer Associate 2. Oracle Certified PL/SQL Developer Professional I would like to give Oracle Database 11g administration Associate certification. For which I can see I need to give 1Z0-051 and 1Z0-052 exams. So my question is whther I need to give Z051 exam??Keeping in mind I have OCP level path cleared for PL/SQL developer track. Thanks in advance..

    How can i get confirmation on this officially?
    Go to the FAQ:
    https://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=82
    Search for 'SQL Fundamentals'.  One of the questions will be: "How long can I use a passed exam to earn a certification? Do exam results expire?"
    The answer is: "Exam results do not expire, but certifications retire, and this affects whether or not your older exam result will help you earn a certification.
    If a specific exam meets a requirement in a current certification path, it does not matter when you passed the exam. For example, if you took SQL exam #1Z0-001 in 1997, you can still use it to meet the SQL requirement for a current Oracle Database certification."
    If you don't trust that -- the forum moderator, Brandye, may come along in a day or so to confirm what I said.  However, there is no doubt.  The question comes up fairly often.  For that matter, I wrote a blog post about it over a year ago (although this would still not be 'official', of course):

  • Regarding  OCP-10g Exams Certification

    Dear Team,
    I am planning for OCP-10g Exams (042/043). I have done OCA 9i (DBA Track) last year.
    With my current Project recommendation, I am going to attend "Oracle Grid Infrastructure 11g: Manage Clusterware and ASM Release 2" training by Oracle University on 11-Apr-2011.
    As per compulsory Training Program for OCP-10g, do I need to take any other Training related to Oracle 10g or the above training (11g) will be suffice for OCP-10g Certification (If I complete Exams 042/043)
    Kindly update me, so that I can plan accordingly.
    Thanks,
    Tusar

    So, what do you suggest regarding the certification which one would be better 10g OCP(1z0-042/043) or directly 11g OCP(1zo-052/053)?
    Thanks,
    TusarIncreasingly an 11g DBA OCP certification will be preferable to a 10g DBA OCP certification.
    Most sites will be looking to upgrade existing 10g databases to 11g databases over the next couple of years, and relatively few sites will have 10g and not be looking to upgrade.
    I would say the following reasons are why someone would want to go for 10g DBA OCP rather than 11g DBA OCP.
    (1) They have attended training which is a suitable qualifying course for 10g DBA OCP but not for 11g DBA OCP. This can be a very important (big money) reason.
    (2) They are very familiar with 1z0-043 topics that are relevant to 10 DBA OCP but less familiar with 1z0-053 topics.
    (3) They wish to get both certifications via 1z0-042 - 1z0-043 - 1z0-050 for instance (you could also do 1z0-052+1z0-053 instead of 1z0-050). Obvioulsy this takes time and expense.
    In general I suspect study for 1z0-052 might take a number of people a little longer than 1z0-042, and the study for 1z0-053 might take maybe a couple of weeks longer than for 1z0-043.
    Overall the choice is yours.

  • The course I did to gain OCP certification in Oracle Database 11g does not appear on the courses submission list on the website of pearson vue.

    The course I did to gain OCP certification in Oracle Database 11g does not appear on the courses submission list on the website of pearson vue, I sent an email to [email protected] from < email address deleted by moderator >, without an answer in 7 days since 01/28/2015, the email is below, the title of my course is in Portuguese.  What should I do in this case ?
    Dear Oracle.
    I am sending this email because recently I passed in the exam 1Z0-053 Oracle Database 11g: Administration II, which is the last examination necessary to acquire the OCP Certification. However, in the path to the certification I need to prove that I participated in an Oracle Official Training.
    Searching for the course on the pearson vue site, I have not found the course name on the list. So I am sending this email with the course information required for certification. I attended to the course in college FIAP (http://www.fiap.com.br/en/conheca-a-fiap/parcerias-estrategicas/), in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, from March/2010 to March/2011. Accessing the link above is possible to verify that the educational institution is an Oracle Partner. The title that I got was "Graduate in Oracle Database Management".
    In this email I attached a copy of the FIAP Certified Course (front.jpg certificate, certificate back.jpg). I’m also sending the data from my profile in the pearson vue site (Pearson VUE - My profile.pdf), and my scores in the exams for OCP certification (1Z0-051.pdf, 1Z0-052.pdf, 1Z0-053.pdf ).
    If you need any further information just let me know and I will provide.
    Please acknowledge this information and grant me the OCP certification (Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional).
    Regards.

    Oracle Testing ID:  < deleted by moderator >

    Sorry, I expressed myself badly.
    When I access http://www.pearsonvue.com/oracle/course/ and start submission process  of the course, in the first step “Select the track for which you have completed a certification requirement” I selected the option “Oracle Database 11g Administrator OCP”, in the second step I selected “ILT = Instructor Led Training”,  but when I got on the third step “Which course or requirement did you complete?”  I have to choose the course name that I did, the course name that I did does not appears in that list, so I do not know which one to select, even having at the end of the form the option “Other ...(Course or requirement is not shown above. Please enter title below.)” the course name I did is in Portuguese/Brazil, the name is “MBA em gestão de banco de dados oracle” in Portuguese, which in English would look like "Graduate in Oracle Database Management".
    I sent an email to [email protected] containing the information that I found necessary to obtain certification.
    But if I have to do the process in the pearson vue site, should I put the course name in Portuguese or in English ?
    Only the email I sent is not enough ?
    Thanks for the help, and sorry for my english !

  • Should I go for Oracle 10g OCA/OCP or 11g OCA/OCP Certification?

    Hi all,
    I am lil bit confuse to decide about my oracle core dba certification.
    Please help me to know, as per the present requirements of the business organizations.
    ***Should I go for Oracle 10g OCA/OCP or 11g OCA/OCP Certification?***
    Hope u guys answer me earliest.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Most likely, it doesn't matter too much. I doubt that most employers are terribly concerned with what recent version of Oracle you have a certification on.
    That said, if it matters
    - What does your organization use? What are their plans to upgrade? If your company still uses 9.2 primarily and has plans to upgrade to 10.2 this year, you're probably better off with a 10g certification. If your company is already running mostly 11.2, you're probably better off with an 11g certification.
    - What do most employers in your particular part of the world tend to use? What do job postings in your particular part of the world generally list?

  • 9i OCA to 10g OCP Certification

    Hi,
    I am an OCA (Oracle 9i). I have passed my first exam on 01st july 2002 of IZO-001 and Fundemantals 1 in 2004. I am planning to move towards 10g and complete my OCP certification. I have few questions related to this.
    1. I have to appear in Admin1 and Admin 2 module of 10G to complete my OCP cerftification for 10g. Is this true?
    2. Do I need to take any course from oracle university in order to get certificate from oracle? As I read from website that there is an exemption for the applicants who have passed their first test before 01st September 2002. Please clear this point as I have passed my first exam before 01st september 2002.
    I shall be really thankful to you for your quick and favorable response.

    With regards to the hands on course exemption ......
    My understanding is ...
    - Is that at least previously people who had taken a (relevant) certification exam prior to 2002 were exempt from the 9i DBA OCP hands on course.
    - (I have now found the relevant page below):
    - However my understanding is they are not exempt from the 10g DBA OCP hands on (so to obtain 10g DBA OCP without a hands on course they would need to go via 9i DBA OCP first).
    - So my understanding is to obtain a 10g DBA OCP (given a success with 1z0-001 prior to 2002) you would either:
    1) Take 1z0-032 and 1z0-033 (and submit a 9i DBA OCP hands on course exemption for exam pass prior to 2002)
    - Then as a 9i DBA OCP take the exams required to be 10g DBA OCP (eg 1z0-040 (or 1z0-042 + 1z0-043) )
    2) Pass 1z0-042 to 10g DBA OCA
    pass 1z0-043 and submit appropriate hands-on-course exemption for 9i DBA OCP.
    Reference:
    The page [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=99#1] indicates how to submit a hands on course exemption for 9i DBA OCP. I recommend you do this immediately to confirm your position (I cant see any harm in doing this).
    ------ I also recommend you register on Certview to confirm your exmption has been accepted.
    Please note this is my best understanding .... th Certification Forum Moderator may choose to comment or you may wish to confirm with ocpexam_ww. However I my reading of the above reference under the section Candidates who are exempt from the Oracle9i hands-on course requirement because they took their first exam on or before September 1, 2002 seems to be clear enough.

  • Clarification on OCP certification Upgrade

    Hi,
    Currently I am having OCP certification on 9i Database and I am planning to upgrade it later on planning to do certification on R12.
    The below link says certification path regarding the R12 Certification.
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=653&get_params=p_id:21
    As per this link the pre-requisite for R12 certification is 10g or 11g OCP. If I do the Database OCP certification upgrade to 12c will I be able to take R12 certification?
    Thanks,

    Are you referring to R12 EBusiness Suite  (which is the URL you've provided) or Database release 12c ?  Two different products.

That's not the case with this one: odd indeed.But does that mean that you shouldn't read the other replies before you post your reply?

    What is a better option for doing the above?
    1.Delete the row being shown,save the new row with
    the changes in the database,and re display it?
    2.Or,Update the row dynamically and refresh?
    Any suggestions
    Thanks,If you delete (it seems to me yours this process is regular and frequent) and re insert the new updated one record then High water mark will cause to scan yours table which may cause to degrade the performance.AFAIK you should go with update.But hold down dont implement it as i suggested lets see what are others solution here which may be more precious then mine.

  • A query regarding synchronised functions, using shared object

    Hi all.
    I have this little query, regarding the functions that are synchronised, based on accessing the lock to the object, which is being used for synchronizing.
    Ok, I will clear myself with the following example :
    class First
    int a;
    static int b;
    public void func_one()
    synchronized((Integer) a)
    { // function logic
    } // End of func_one
    public void func_two()
    synchronized((Integer) b)
    { / function logic
    } // End of func_two
    public static void func_three()
    synchronized((Integer) a)
    { // function logic
    } // End of func_three, WHICH IS ACTUALLY NOT ALLOWED,
    // just written here for completeness.
    public static void func_four()
    synchronized((Integer) b)
    { / function logic
    } // End of func_four
    First obj1 = new First();
    First obj2 = new First();
    Note that the four functions are different on the following criteria :
    a) Whether the function is static or non-static.
    b) Whether the object on which synchronization is based is a static, or a non-static member of the class.
    Now, first my-thoughts; kindly correct me if I am wrong :
    a) In case 1, we have a non-static function, synchronized on a non-static object. Thus, effectively, there is no-synchronisation, since in case obj1 and obj2 happen to call the func_one at the same time, obj1 will obtain lock for obj1.a; and obj2 will obtain lock to obj2.a; and both can go inside the supposed-to-be-synchronized-function-but-actually-is-not merrily.
    Kindly correct me I am wrong anywhere in the above.
    b) In case 2, we have a non-static function, synchronized on a static object. Here, again if obj1, and obj2 happen to call the function at the same time, obj1 will try to obtain lock for obj1.a; while obj2 will try to obtain lock for obj2.a. However, since obj1.a and obj2.a are the same, thus we will indeed obtain sychronisation.
    Kindly correct me I am wrong anywhere in the above.
    c) In case 3, we have a static function , synchronized on a non-static object. However, Java does not allow functions of this type, so we may safely move forward.
    d) In case 4, we have a static function, synchronized on a static object.
But we are only partly done for this case.
    First, Kindly correct me I am wrong anywhere in the above.
    Now, I have a query : what happens if the call is made in a classically static manner, i.e. using the statement "First.func_four;".
    Another query : so far we have been assuming that the only objects contending for the synchronized function are obj1, and obj2, in a single thread. Now, consider this, suppose we have the same reference obj1, in two threads, and the call "obj1.func_four;" happens to occur at the same time from each of these threads. Thus, we have obj1 rying to obtain lock for obj1.a; and again obj1 trying to obtain lock for obj1.a, which are the same locks. So, if obj1.a of the first thread obtains the lock, then it will enter the function no-doubt, but the call from the second thread will also succeed. Thus, effectively, our synchronisation is broken.
    Or am I being dumb ?
    Looking forward to replies..
    Ashutosh

    a) In case 1, we have a non-static function, synchronized on a non-static object. Thus, effectively, there is no-synchronisationThere is no synchronization between distinct First objects, but that's what you specified. Apart from the coding bug noted below, there would be synchronization between different threads using the same instance of First.
    b) In case 2, we have a non-static function, synchronized on a static object. Here, again if obj1, and obj2 happen to call the function at the same time, obj1 will try to obtain lock for obj1.a; while obj2 will try to obtain lock for obj2.a.obj1/2 don't call methods or try to obtain locks. The two different threads do that. And you mean First.b, not obj1.b and obj2.b, but see also below.
    d) In case 4, we have a static function, synchronized on a static object. Here, again if obj1, and obj2 happen to call the function at the same time, obj1 will try to obtain lock for obj1.a; while obj2 will try to obtain lock for obj2.a.Again, obj1/2 don't call methods or try to obtain locks. The two different threads do that. And again, you mean First.b. obj1.b and obj2.b are the same as First.b. Does that make it clearer?
    Now, I have a query : what happens if the call is made in a classically static manner, i.e. using the statement "First.func_four;".That's what happens in any case whether you write obj1.func_four(), obj2.func)four(), or First.func_four(). All these are identical when func_four(0 is static.
    Now, consider this, suppose we have the same reference obj1, in two threads, and the call "obj1.func_four;" happens to occur at the same time from each of these threads. Thus, we have obj1 rying to obtain lock for obj1.aNo we don't, we have a thread trying to obtain the lock on First.b.
    and again obj1 trying to obtain lock for obj1.aYou mean obj2 and First.b, but obj2 doesn't obtain the lock, the thread does.
    which are the same locks. So, if obj1.a of the first thread obtains the lock, then it will enter the function no-doubt, but the call from the second thread will also succeed.Of course it won't. Your reasoning here makes zero sense..Once First.b is locked it is locked. End of story.
    Thus, effectively, our synchronisation is broken.No it isn't. The second thread will wait on the same First.b object that the first thread has locked.
    However in any case you have a much bigger problem here. You're autoboxing your local 'int' variable to a possibly brand-new Integer object every call, so there may be no synchronization at all.
    You need:
    Object a = new Object();
    static Object b = new Object();
