Query regarding Transports in BI system

Hi All,
We want to transport some change requests from BI system( running on MSSQL database) to another BI system (running on oracle database). Will there be any problem in doing the same???
one BI system is running on Windows platform and other is running on Unix platform.
What kind of dependencies can occur in this particular senario.

The quick answer is 'YES' if the SAP versions are the same, however if you
have made changes to any SAP Standard code you should also check that the
patch levels are the same to.
This is not a recommended process however because your objects will have the
Original system and the PoC system

Query regarding transport request

Hey guys,
I have a question regarding transport requests.
If only the report source code is included in the transport request, the text elements of the program will not be transported to the next box?
when you transprot the main program or the function pool, does it follow that all the changes in FM's under the function pool will be transported to the next box?

If you create transport request with just the report, text element will not be transported:
LIMU REPS <Program>
For text element, you need the following transport entry:
LIMU REPT <Program>
If you want to transport both, you can have the following entry:
R3TR PROG <Program>
If you have the following transport, all the components of function pool will be transported.
R3TR FUGR <Function Group>

If tms is well configured between the existing clients then use transaction se09 for releasing the task and the change request from one client to another.
Also use se01 for checking the transport logs.

I am working on an upgradation project.
I have system called Legacy and other System called Enterprise.Legacy it upgraded from 3.Ob to 7 technically and enterprise system its all ready upgraded to 7.So our client needs to comine both legacy and enter prise in to an single system.
Now if i come to my problem there is an 0Plant in both legacy and Enter prise when transfer DSO will it overwrites the old 0Plant in enter prise or it copies only the structure.

If I understand correct, you are trying to merge both the BW systems into one.
There is a lot that should go into the impact study when you bring data from the different sourcesystems into one BW system.
There will be overlapping data in 0MATERIAL, 0VENDOR, 0PLANT, 0CUSTOMER etc which is quite common.
You may have to see if 0SOURCESYSTEM can be included in compounding with these infoobjects, that way you will be able to retain the data extracted from both the sourcesystems into one BW.
SAP- MDM module specifically addresses these requirements.

Query regarding transporting deletion of roles

Hi,
When I delete a role in dev, in order to make the deletion effective across the landscape I need to put it in a transport request.
If I don't do that, and instead create a new role in dev by the same name as the one that was deleted, and then I transport this new role, will the new role overwrite the old one in the quality and production systems?
Or am I first required to transport the deletion, and then transport the newly created role ( by the same name)?

This is little critical and tricky but you know whenever u do any modifcation with the role like deleting a role or creating a role the best pratice is to put in the transport request so that this request can be transported throughout the landscape .........
As per u r question dear u have created role in the development that role is already their in prd system with profile attached to it if u delete in dev and try to create the role with same name in dev again that role might not be deleted till u transport the new role frm dev to prd but their might be inconsisentcy with the new role which u have created as their might be cofusion with the two profiles the new profile and the old profile in prd server if u send the delete transport request frm dev to prd for the role which was their in the prd server the old role and profile will be lost so when u create a new role and transport it frm dev to prd their might be no inconsistency between the old profile and new profile,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Query in a Role transported to Q system, not available in BEx Q system.

Hello Everybody,
After going through number of posts, I could not find a solution to my query.
I've created a query, assigned it to a role. Collected the necessary objects into a BEx Tranport Request. Assigned it to the correct package. Now after the TR has been imported into BW QA system, I dont see the query in BEx BWQ (Quality System). Do I need to transport the role too, to the BW QA system again (Role already exists in BW QA as well as PR systems)

This has been reported in many threads...
This usually happens when some element of the query is not collected properly / does not get generated in the target system properly.
To correct this ..
go to RSRT and execute your query ( you should be able to find it there ) and then you will find the query in BEX.

Is the complete query overwritten once it is transported to another system?

Hi,
I had developed a query with some variables on the infoset. This has been transported to the production system.
But due to some requirement change the infoset was impacted due to the changes made in the ODS. (on which the infoset was created).
So the infoobjects technical names of ODS in the Infoset had changed. (F1 to F11....). Due to this the variables which were built on this infoobjects after the change are showing up under different infoobjects after technical name change.
Now to solve the issue, if i delete the variables and create under their respective infoobjects and transport to production system, will this work? Will the varaibles which were already transported to production system deleted automatically after the query is again transported to the production system?

Hi Rani,
Make sure u include the deletion change in the transport.
when u delete the variable it will ask for trnasport.
and also to ensure all ur changes are in the transport go to transport connection in RSA1. In that ->object types->query element->find ur query and trasnfer it.
make the grouping as 'only necessary objects'.
it will give u the list make sure it is all present in ur transport.
u can see the transport number in the rightmost window.
If u see all are not included tick and use the 'transport' -truck icon on topic.click on that and assign the transport.

Query regarding moving transport request

HI all,
I have query regarding moving the transport request.
I have a main program with 3 includes. I have made some changes in the 1st include and transported it to the quality(testing). Now i made changes in the 2nd include and saved it in a different request(as request for the 1st include is already released). Now i am moving the changes of the 2nd include into the production. Here I want to know whether all the changes that i have made for the 1st include also will reflect in the production when the 2nd request is moved to production( incase of 1st include, only moved till quality) or only the changes made in the 2nd include will only reflect.
Kindly clarify as soon as possible.

Thank you very much for the response. I have a query regarding the same. If i am making changes only in one single report and i am moving it to the quality. Now again i am making changes in the same report and saving it in a different request and moving it to the production. in this case, i wanted to know whether the whole changes made in the first and second request will reflect in the production or only the 2nd request's change will only reflect (since it is only a single report. there is no include in the program)

Problems with query while transporting

Dear all,
I have transported some queries from the development system to the production system. The transportation ended with the following warnings:
Execute reports for change/transport request: DBWK900095
on the application server: kblbw
There are no reports to execute
Execution of programs after import (XPRA)
End date and time : 20060716141213
Ended with return code: ===> 4 <===
I can see the queries in the BW PRD system but when I run them, they ask for login to DEV system and fetch the data from DEV system itself. Even though the query is physically inside PRD system it is running on the DEV system. I'll be very grateful if someone can give me some inputs in solving this problem. Thanks a lot.

Would you like kindly suggest regarding my case ..
Now in our transport system for BEx, we must create 1 transport request number (RSA1 - Transport Connection - BEx). Then this transport no is used by all modification in query designer / BEx.
But..
I've ever found in one system, that Each modification in every BEx/Query Designer has it own transport request number.
My Question is ..
Do you know to make BEx transport system like this ???
I mean, every modification in query designer/BEx has its own transport request no..
Is it because of updating some patch ??
Or is it because we must configure it in some t-code ? If yes, could you explain me how to do it ??

What I can suggest you for this. Do you have any request number in RSA1-> Transport Connect-> BEx.
Then every time you try to change a query(already transported )it says it is not assigned to transport request.
IN the transport connection assign to a request as we do for cubes etc then do the changes
For the new query it will be saved under $tmp. so what ever you want to transport assign it to request no as we do for cubes and then transport

Once Try checking as pavan suggested whether the Customizing requested is transported.
To Maintain Workflow start conditions you can also maintain through SWB_COND and ensure its transported.

Exit Fm is not to CMOD project but transported to test system

Hi.
I have a enhancement MWMIDO08 with contains function module EXIT_SAPLLMDE_002 and which incldes program ZXLIDU10.
I made my necessary changes in the include program and transported to test system, without creating any CMOD project.
But my changes are working fine in test test.
Can you please suggest me, what to do now? if i want create a CMOD project now and add the function exit into it. and resend the new request to test system.

This sort of thing can happen if someone has assigned a CMOD project to the enhancement containing the user exit before.
First check in SE16, table MODACT with MODACT-MEMBER = 'MWMIDO08', then MODACT-NAME will give you the existing project that is already assigned to enhancement MWMIDO08
If there is no entry in MODACT then you can safely create another project and assign the enhancement to it, activate and transport.
If already there is an entry in MODACT, you need to check if the same entry exists in your QA and Prod systems, to verify if someone already transported it. If it is not transported you need to deactivate / activate the project and transport that project again.
No this should not cause any problem and I can tell from experience having done same thing before.

You can collect Query and WAD in the same request and transport
Choose Query in Transport con - only necessary objects - assign package - give new request
Repeat the same for WAD and use the same request and release and import to Qual and perform test then IMPORT to Prod
