Question about 1 year Extended Warrantee on Zen tou

Hi Everyone. Lately I have been looking into Buying a Zen touch and was wondering how to get the year Extended Warrantee. Do I buy the E.W. from the Retail Store or do I buy the player and then send info to creative and sign up for the Warrantee with them after I buy the player? Thanks for you help!!! :smileyvery-happy:Torstein.

So if I wont the extended warrantee should I ask for it when I check out or do I take the player to the store costumer service?
Or does it change with different retailers?
Again, thanks everyone who?s posted.
Torstein.
It varies for each retailer. For example, when I was purchasing my Zen Xtra 30 GB from newegg.com, when I was checking out I had the option to purchase the extended warranty (for $0 I think).
^ That's for online purchases like from www.newegg.com. If you buy from the retail store, I'd think you tell either your salesperson or the cashier that you want an extended warranty, if the store offers one.

  • Question about Sennheiser headphones for my Zen Ph

I just bought these Sennheiser headphones (CX 300-S) for my Zen Photo and when the lights are on I get a buzzing noise but when the lights go off the buzz is gone. Does anyone have any clue why this is? The headphones cost me a pretty penny and they are getting great reviews. Thank to anyone who can help.

    myblackz28,
When the player was put on Hold, the wired remote will still be able to function. In fact the wired remote itself have a similar little Hold switch.

  • Curiosity question about multiple "extends"

Out of Curiosity, what do you do when you have multiple things in your code, like actionListeners, Threads, etc. that require having "extends ___" in the constructor(I think that's what it's called)? I've tried doing multiple extends before and only recieved errors.

I believe you are getting inheritance and interface mixed up. You can only "extend" one superclass. You can "implement" multiple interfaces.
For starters, ActionListener is an interface so you would "implement" that interface, then you need to define the methods specified in the ActionListener interface.
The purpose of extending a class is not only to have access to all of it's methods/variables/etc - but to build on the class... for example overwriting certain methods, adding new methods, etc.
You do not have to extend classes just to use them within your code. If you have a program that uses Thread & Timer, then you need to "import" those classes:
    import java.lang.Thread;
    import java.util.Timer;
In order to have access to methods in these classes, you create an instance of these classes: Thread thread = new Thread(); Then access the public methods via thread.run().
    Hope that helps.

  • Question about the new firmware for Zen Mi

Does the recent update for the Micro allow the user to use Zen Micro Media Explorer unlike the update from December?

You have to upgrade the Explorer version to the one that is enabled for "MTP" firmware, which can be downloaded for free from the creative download section. I'm using the beta firmware, and it works pretty well for me, and I like the autosync feature with WMP0.

  • Question about the new battery for zen micro/ zen microph

i just reacently noticed that creative has a new bettery the?Li-Ion Battery (830mAh) for ZEN MICROPHOTO/ ZEN MICR0 on there website they say it gives longer battery lifeand i was wondering how true this could be because i would like to get more than 6 to 8 hours out of my zen micro

The Zen MicroPhoto uses more power than the Zen Micro would, so it has a better battery. But you can use this battery with the Zen Micro and it should last longer than your original battery.

  • [Zen Micro]Questions about the Firmw

    Hello,
I have some questions about the firmware of the Zen Micro
. Can I use the Zen Micro without any Software (MediaSource?) on my PC (winXP) when im using the Firmware Creative Zen Micro *PlaysForSure/MTP Firmware 2.00.2 ? This means that i copy my Music only by drag&drop from the Explorer after my Computer has detected the Zen Micro as a Removable Disk!
    2. I know that the Zen Micro has two parts with the Normal Firmware. The "Removable Disk" Part and the "Playable" Part which can only used by the Software! But what happens if my . question is right. How can i seperate this two parts?
    Thanks for answers

I don't have the 2.x firmware, but I think I'm correct in saying this :
with the 2.x firmware, your Micro becomes an MTP compatible device, which can be recognized on PCs having an MTP compatible OS (operating system). For the moment, the only OS that fits the bill to my knowledge, is Win XP with Windows Media Player 0. In this combination of MTP device + MTP OS, you don't need to install other drivers, and you can do drag and drop
BUT ! The 2.x firmware doesn't make your device a "removable disc" in the traditional sense of the word. It doesn't become a file system, like a USB memory stick.
I hope I was clear enough to see the difference :-)Message Edited by fred_be9300 on 04-03-2005 02:52 AM

  • This is a two part question about the creative 16gb Zen?

8This is a two part question about the creative 6gb Zen? First of all, my battery life dropped very suddenly. One charge I was getting the full 30 hour battery life and the next it dropped to under ten. I tried using their tips on how to extend the battery life and I am still getting less than 0 hours of battery life. Why would it dropped more than half the amount between charges? I tried recharging it after it ran out and still the same thing. Any help?
Second, (I am adding this question because it might relate to the first in some way) my mp3 player has been behaving strangely lately. For example, some artists sometimes have letters removed or all but the first end up being removed. But, if you reset the player, the artists go back to the full name. Also, my player has been taking a little longer than usual to turn on. It takes about 30 seconds to turn on instead of the 5-0 that I'm used to. Does anyone know why this might be happening?
My Zen is only 4 months old, and I would be very upset it it's breaking already. Please, if you have any suggestions on how I can fix what's happening, post them. (Even if they?probably won't work, they're worth a try.)

< This is an unusual one; never heard of it before. All I can suggest is cleaning up and perhaps reflashing the firmware. If it still is doing this, then get the thing exchanged pronto.
My guess is that the problems are indeed closely related.

  • I'm looking to buy a new Macbook Pro, and have questions about the Applecare extended warranty?

I'm looking to buy a new Macbook Pro, and have questions about the Applecare extended warranty? I want to know if the 3 year extended warranty covers what damage. Like water damage, accidental damage, lost or stolen macbook, manufactory defects, or any other kind of damage, maybe be even cosmetic damage. Can anyone help me?

If you are talking about features of the MBP itself, as long as you are not looking at  the Retina models, then the memory you can upgrade yourself for a lot less than Apple charges, and that does not affect the warranty as Apple considers memory a user permitted upgrade.  Great sources are Crucial and OWC, both are Mac specialists and have on-line videos on how to do the install.
If the 15" is what you are looking at, a good upgrade is the 7200 rpm hard drive, gives a little better performance over the standard 5400 rpm drive.
The Hi Res screen is good if you do a lot of graphics work.
Comparing the 13" amd 15" you will notice the 15" has a second, discrete graphic processor...helps when you get into heavy duty videos, games, graphics...but keep in mind that kicking in the second processor uses a lot of power and will run the battery down faster.
If you are looking at the Retina models, then keep in mind there are no post-purchase upgrade options...you have to buy with everything you want at the start.
    Just some thoughts.

  • Question about Charging ZEN MP3 Pla

Hello, I just got a brand-new ZEN 4GB MP3 player. I have a question about charging it. Is the device done charging when the battery icon blinking in the top-right displays as full, or should I be waiting for some other indication (done charging message, etc.)?
    Thanks,
    Brett

The icon should be a full bar with a little plug in the middle when it's fully charged.

. There are MANY transmitters out there. I recommend searching back for past threads with recommendations.
    2. Yes, if they are in a suitable format.
    3. I already gave you a link in a previous question to a thread all about this. Please don't post duplicate questions.
    4. With iTunes you either need to burn the tracks to a CDRW, then convert to MP3/WMA, or use a program like JHymn to convert (Google JHymn).

  • Newbi question about Extend...

I have just started to look into using Extend to develop some developer utility tools. When reading the documentation it is not clear to me if a cache (lets say a near cache) can be accessed BOTH by extend clients and cluster members and in that case is there some example on how to do the cache configuration (both on extend client and cluster members)?
What made me believe that it would NOT be possible is that one must decide what cache service that should handle each cache so it can either be handled by an ExtendService OR DistributedCacheService or perhaps I have got this all wrong?
    /Magnus

    Hi Magnus,
maybe I did not totally understand the question.
With Extend clients the client does not actually access the cache in the cluster. The proxy server does it for them and for RT clients it also propagates events to the client (which is necessary for the near cache entry invalidation on changes). So in case of the extend client, the operative part of the description of the behaviour is the remote/proxy and the only requirement is that there needs to be a NamedCache of the same name in the cluster the proxy node is a member of. What that cache in the cluster is is just a configuration detail not actually exposed at all to the client.
The operative part of a near cache is the (size limited due to being in-JVM but very fast) front map (usually a LocalCache) and SOME KIND OF (which needs not be size limited, and is usually slower) back cache from which entries can be fetched and which provides a synchronous invalidation event to the listener the front map registers on the back cache. The type of the back cache is just a configuration detail. The only requirement is that the back cache needs to implement ObservableMap (for registering a synchronous listener for invalidation events) and CacheMap (for optimized put operations) and InvocableMap (for optimized remove operations)... which is expressed as the back cache has to implement NamedCache.
In the usual understanding the back cache of a near cache is configured to be a distributed cache, but it is nowhere mandated to be a distributed cache.
Indeed, in the extend clients the back cache of the near cache is a remote cache (proxied cache), which is in fact a client proxy (stub) implementing the NamedCache interface to the proxy server which adapts the named cache with the same name in the TCMP cluster which again wouldn't necessarily need to be a distributed cache.
In short, a near cache is just a cache which is as NEAR to you and as fast as possible. A remote cache is just that, a cache which sits on the other end of the TCP*Extend connection.
I hope this clears it up.
    Best regards,
    Robert

  • Question about PHP

I am completely new to programming and have enjoyed Linux so much, that I would like to go into PHP next. Currently I am a University student with a dead end major (Russian Studies). I am looking to get a certificate in PHP over the course of this next year and to find a little better job with it than I could get with my current degree. I would do a Google search for this, however, I have come to like Arch and the community that surrounds it and wanted to know if any you fine web programmers out there, had any suggestions for free online courses in PHP or book that could be purchased. I was also wondering what a good PHP certification exam to take would be. I have seen the Zend exam and was considering doing a test prep for this after I learn a little more about PHP and SQL. Thank you for your help and suggestions!

As  I said, to most people, taxonomy doesn't matter.  It does matter to other people, and I don't mean people like me who have these little pet peeves.
It matters to people who know a lot of languages who need to know when to use what language.  There isn't a single programming or scripting language that can be everything, so it's important for people, mostly software engineers, to know taxonomy, so they can pick a language most optimal for what they need to get done.  Most of the time, when you're dealing with very complex systems.  Instead of using one language for the whole system, you'll find out you'll be using COBRA to handle hardware, C++ to handle interface and C to tie everything together or something like that.
I mean when you're differentiating between an interpretted language (script) and a program, the issue is efficiency and speed.  No matter what you do, an interpretted language is inherently slower and less efficient than a programming language.  Even Java that is compiled, is compiled to Java Native Language or something like that, and requires the Java Virtual Machine to interpret it (that's why Java gets it's own branch).  I believe it's the fastest interpretted language, but how does it compare to a natively compiled program?  It's still slower.
Even when you know you're going to use a programming language, you still have choices, because each programming language can be split into a high, middle, and low level language.  Reasons for using different levels are due to how quickly do you need to write the program, how portable does the program need to be, how easy should other people be able to read the program, does it need to have low level abilities such as handling memory directly.  Then there's also the question about how your program is going to flow.  Is it functional or object oriented?
It's not so much an opionated matter when you think about it.  It's more along the lines of do you need this knowledge or not?  For most people, I'm willing to bet that's everybody who posts in this thread, that information is not important, they don't need to know it, because they handle very, very simple applications compared to the complex systems that do indeed require the programmer or scripter to know the difference.
Actually, the difference between interpreted and compiled (and faux-compiled) languages is different from the difference between programming and scripting languages, interpreted languages can also be programming languages, and compiled languages can be scripting (although this happens very little and is really pointless and tedious to do )
'Scripting' usually refers to code meant to extend upon a framework or program separate from the script itself, whereas 'programming' is creating applications that are on their own, separate applications, regardless of whether they're run though an interpreter at runtime. The difference is a bit vague, and you are right in that interpreted languages are often used for scripting, but it is not necessary, look at something like python, this can be used both as scripting for automating tasks quickly by using it's immense library, as well as for creating stand alone applications, which would be programming. (PHP is virtually always scripting, though)
Either way I prefer the term 'coding'
