If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account then steps 1 to 5 on the page that you posted from should let you reset them : go to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account, then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you should see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer 2 of your questions) then you won't get the reset option - you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the page that you posted from to add a rescue email address for potential future use
For future info typing all in capitals is considered shouting and makes posts difficult to read, and may mean that people don't reply

  • Questions about Downloading Movies from Itunes

I have used itunes extensively for my music, but have never downloaded any movies or video. If I downloaded a movie from the Itunes store can I then burn it on to a disc. If so, it needs to be a DVD-R disc not a CD-R right? This may sound like a really dumb question, but I have never done this before. Thanks

  • Questions about selling content on iTunes

    Hi everyone,
We are preparing to start selling audiobooks and applications of our own production on iTunes.
I was not able to find direct answers to the following questions on Apple's support portal:
    1. Are there any requirements on the number of songs in an album?
    2. How much does Apple take from sales of tracks, albums and applications?
    3. Can we set prices for individual tracks and whole albums?
    Thanks!

Can someone at least point me somewhere where I can find this information?

  • Two questions about apple mail

hey everyone. i'm getting to learn a little more about apple mail these days; smoothing out Gmail IMAP synching and whatnaught. i've stumbled into the mail directory on my macbook and had some questions.
    1. the "mail downloads" folder (home/library/mail downloads). what is the significance of this folder? in the preferences, i have my default downloads saved to the main "downloads" folder. yet there is a random number of files in there; i don't think they constiute the totality of every message i've received that has a file to download, so what is the logic of those files? if i delete them will the downloads not be available from individual mail messages any longer?
    2. i see some older IMAP mailboxes for two accounts that i don't even have access to any more. they don't, however, show up on the mail app itself. is there some way to reintegrate these mailboxes (just for archival purposes, and the ability to see their messages) into the mail program?
    thanks so much!
    quin

    Aaron,
The Mail Downloads folder contents are redundant to what is kept with the messages. The most typical ways that content results in that folder are:
    1) quickly clicking the Save button on a message, rather than using a click-hold to then have the option to choose a target location of the Save;
    2) you open an attachment with another application. There Mail Downloads is only meant to be a temporary storage location. Attachments are kept as originally received with the message itself. Also, in the more recent version of Mail, it is redundantly kept in a folder within the INBOX.mbox folder named Attachments -- this is a behind the scenes behavior. It first appeared only for IMAP mailboxes, but more recently in Mail 4.x is also the case with a POP account. If unedited, then depending how you have your preference set up, attachments may be removed when Mail is quit, etc.;
    3) Mail in 10.5.x and 10.6.x seems to require the Mail Downloads folder to be created, rather than use the Downloads folder. The latter is mostly used as the location of items you click to load from a remote server, whether in a Browser or in Mail.
With respect to your old IMAP account folders or mailboxes, where have you found them? I would assume any old IMAP accounts have been deactivated in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced if in the Mail folder, but not showing in the Sidebar to Mail? It would problematic to activate an IMAP account if it can no longer contact the IMAP server. Any xxxx.imapmbox folder can be dragged from the Mail folder (after quitting Mail) to say the Desktop, renamed as xxxx.mbox folder, and then back in Mail imported to be an On My Mac mailbox for archival.
    More info, please.

  • I have two questions about my podcast on iTunes - Image and Author

Hello. I have very recently added my podcast to iTunes,  by submitting the RSS-feed that is given by wordpress (that's where I have my podcast homepage) It looks allright, and the feed includes Name of podcast, title of podcast shows, description and in some cases even length of the podcasts. There's two things not showing though, and that's an image for the iTunes page, and the name of the authors.
I'm not sure if you're allowed to link to your feed like this, but here is however the feed that I've sent to iTunes: http://rodrost.wordpress.com/category/podcast/feed/ . I thought that the picture up in the right (of me and a friend) would be the picture showing up on iTunes. And I don't understand where in my feed to put in the authors. If you could answer my questions I would be very grateful, thank you.
    / Joar.
(This is how it looks on iTunes http://itunes.apple.com/se/podcast/rodrost-podcast-podcast/id507886804 )

Posting your feed URL is not only allowed, it's necessary to get answers to most questions, so thank you for posting it.
You are missing some necessary entries in your feed. The second line of your feed should include the 'iTues declaration':
    xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" version="2.0"
which should be added within the 'rss' tag. Without this iTunes cannot read the 'itunes:...' tags which are in any case missing. The image is carried in the 'itunes:image' tag and your name in the 'itunes:author' tag, and there are other tags which carry information - your podcast is working without them but some information is as you see missing.
This page includes a sample basic feed so that you can see what I'm talking about:
    http://rfwilmut.net/pc
I can't advise on Wordpress: it seems likely that you need the PodPress plugin to get this to work properly, but I'm not sure whether you can do it without.

  • One last question about apple tv!! viewing movies in movies folder

thanks to those who have responded to my previous questions.
thinking of buying an apple TV this weekend, but here's my last question (which I just thought of!)
i've got a collection of movies in various formats, usually .mov or .dv of home videos i've made in FCE and iMovie over the years, some of them several GB in size (oops!)
what's the best way of viewing these on the apple tv. for instance
    1. does apple TV let you look into your 'movies' folder in the home folder to play any movies it finds there
    2. will it play .dv or .mov files, or does it need to be a specific format
    3. i've noticed an 'export to apple tv' in quicktime pro, do i need to do this for all my movies before apple tv will play them. and after i do an 'export to apple tv' where do the files need to be? imported into itunes, or just sat in my 'movies' folder?
cheers, looking forward to visiting the apple store tomorrow!

    1. does apple TV let you look into your 'movies' folder in the home folder to play any movies it finds there.
No, the tv uses itunes for its source of movies.
    2. will it play .dv or .mov files, or does it need to be a specific format
DV, no. MOV, maybe. MOV is a container type not a compression type, if the MOV container has the correct compression formats in it then it will play. Movies for the tv need to be either mpeg4/2 or mpeg4/10 (H264/AVC)
    3. i've noticed an 'export to apple tv' in quicktime pro, do i need to do this for all my movies before apple tv will play them. and after i do an 'export to apple tv' where do the files need to be? imported into itunes, or just sat in my 'movies' folder?
Yes 'export to tv' will do the job for you. You need to be aware though that DV with the wrong field dominance will cause it a problem, and some cameras do use the wrong field dominance. It won't work with muxed files (mpeg2 for example) and on SD movies it can be a little wasteful on space. I've always used mpegstreamclip to convert from DV.
Of course from now on you'll be using FCE with this in mind and exporting accordingly.

  • One last question about Apple IDs

I thought id asked the lot but there is one last question. How does one delete an Apple ID?
    Many thanks again

    Hello Again Anthony!
"How does one delete an Apple ID?"
    You can't.
After you quit using an account, it's posts, will be archived. What that means is, that if there are no additional responses in the Threads they reside in, the Topics will get continually pushed down on the Topics list. After a certain amount of time, maybe 2 to 6 months, the Threads will be locked, so no responses can be entered. But the Threads will not disappear.
Threads in heavily trafficked Forums, may be archived more rapidly than those in areas, with less activity.
The Topics that you started using the account, will show your the Alias, in the Author field of a main forum page, but eventually, readers will have to keep going to the succeeding pages to view them.
If someone were to do a Discussions Search, using these parameters:

  • Question about Apple ID/iCloud email/and purchases?

    Hi,
I know that these have been discussed at length, but I want to ask these two question for myself to get a definite answer, Pleas help me!
    1. Does an iCloud email alisas act just as a regular email?  I can send from the new address, recieve email from people mailing to this new address, and sign into my content with this new address just as if it was the original one?
    2. I really want a new iCloud account to start over.  I have had an Apple ID for years before iCloud came out.  If I delete my iCloud account and create a new one, will it be integrated with all my past purchases?  Are the Apple ID and iCloud account sparate?  I want to keep my Apple ID, but be able to sign into it and access my purchased content from my new iCloud account?  Can this be done.
    I am really grateful!!

An email alias will act just like you iCloud email address, and it will receive incoming mail at the same inbox. It will be added to your existing iCloud account/ID so you can continue to sign into your account with your current ID.
Your iCloud ID is separate from your iTunes account ID.  You can keep your current iTunes ID and add a second ID for your new iCloud account; they do not need to be the same.  If you want to migrate your data to a new iCloud account, on your device go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account (this only deletes the account from the device, not from iCloud).  When prompted choos Keep on My [iDevice].  Then set up a new account with a different ID and turn your iCloud data syncing back to On, and when prompted, choos Merge to upload the data to your new account.

  • Questions about Apple TV 2 as a music streamer

I'm thinking about picking up an Apple TV 2, with my main intention being to use it as an AirPlay music streamer, and I'd like to find out some specifics about how it behaves.  Specifically, I want to make sure it won't require me to turn on the TV before I can stream to it. Preferably I wouldn't even have to turn on the device itself.  So maybe you can tell me:
Does the Apple TV respond to AirPlay even when it's in standby mode, or do I have to turn it on with its remote before it appears as an AirPlay destination?
Do I have to navigate to some location in the menus before it appears as an AirPlay destination?
Can you turn the device on using the Remote app, or do you have to use the physical remote control?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
There are a large number of people that have noted that the Apple TV will not turn itself on unless a connected TV is also turned on and the correct input is selected.
There are others that have been able to play audio via a receiver without the TV being on. There are also others who have found that if they turn the TV on and start to stream audio from say iTunes on their computer that they can then turn the TV off again.
There doesn't seem any consistency to the reports I've seen and the assumption I have made in this matter is that it may depend on which TV is being used with the Apple TV (it may also depend on the receiver in use.

  • Question about storing music in iTunes

I currently use iTunes in windows and everytime I put music into my itunes library and then delete it from My Music file in my computer, it doesn't delete the song from iTunes, but it doesn't allow me to play the song anymore on my computer. Why is this?

Open iTunes and go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced>General. Look to see if there's a check mark beside "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library". If there's not then what is happening is that when you add your song to the library it is only adding a link to the location of the original file. When you delete the file from it's original folder iTunes still has the location but the songs isn't there to play any more: About the Add to Library, Import and Convert functions

  • Question about Apple's new iPad retina requirement.

Apple recently made it a requirement that apps support all retina displays for both iPads and iPhones.
What acceptable options are available in AIR for supporting the iPad Retina display and still meet Apple's new requirement?
    Here's my situation :
I've been working on a universal app using AIR 3.6 that works well in all iOS resolutions other than for iPad retina (2048x1536).
When building native support for the iPad retina resolution, the app performance is very poor (due to having to animate and manipulate such large bitmaps). The coding approaches that I've used are supposed to be good on performance, so I doubt that I can optimize things to the point where the performance would be acceptable using the larger art assets.
In comparison, when I use an older version of AIR (3.2) and let the iOS compatibility mode automatically scale up the app to fill the 2048x1536 screen, the performace of the app is just fine (and looks almost identical).
Would using this type of approach cause an app to be rejected by Apple now?
It appears that AIR 3.6 added the ability to restrict just the the iPad high resolution (without restricting iPhones ) using :
    <requestedDisplayResolution excludeDevices="iPad3">high</requestedDisplayResolution>
It seems that this would solve my performance issue, but I'm not sure if Apple's new "retina support requirement" would result in my AIR app being rejected if I used this approach to disable iPad Retina support.
Does anyone know if Apple will now accept an app that was built with iPad retina support disabled through this approach?
Another option that I've tried that may be a workable solution is :
During launch when 2048x1536 resolution is detected, the app loads all of the 1024x768 art assets instead and then scales up the app by a factor of two (using scaleX = scaleY = 2).
The above seems to generate acceptable performance. The artworks looks a little blurrier and less crisp using this approach due to the scaling, but is acceptable to me personally. As this is technically using "standard" resolution art assets and scaling them up, would taking this approach get rejected by Apple?
I'm open to any other options/approaches/suggestions to adding iPad retina support that would allow me to address the performance issues on iPad retina and still allow my app to get approved by Apple. I'm just a little bit confused on what constitutes an app having "iPad Retina" support. Does the app just need to be compiled with a newer version of the iOS SDK to get through the approval process, or does this mean something else?
    Thanks.

Seems like you have two options, if you are already scaling stuff down after launching at a higher res why not make it an option. Have a setting for "High Resolution" and one for "High Performance" the difference would is one would run in Retina mode and one would run in standard mode so users with iPad4 and iPhone5 could probably use the High Res but iphone 4 users can switch to the High Performance setting.
The way I have dealt with it is design everything to a 1024 width and 640 height, this is standard Kindle Fire resolution but almost all devices crop the app in a way where all the key features fit on screen, I just had an app approved 2 days ago by Apple using this technique so basically I am running 1024 graphics on the retina screen, they look great (we are only humans and we can't make out every pixel despite what Apple thinks) and the performance is nice as well. I think they worry about apps being stretched for some reason when apple ups a 1024 app to a retina width using their software it looks horrible but if it is done by the developer it looks great. Download a non retina app and try it on a retina iPad or export your app for Standard resolution and check it out vs exporting for high.
I think you will be fine either way.

  • Question about my ipod and iTunes

I am stuck! Every time I connect my ipod into iTunes and try to update and then when it says updating ipod, do not disconnect, suddenly a pop up appears and says that iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.
    What do I do????????
    Some please help me!!!!!!!!!!

I think you should try what was already suggested. There are programs other than iTunes that can manage your iPod music anyway, so if we're unable to successfully debug your iTunes problem you won't be completely stuck without music on your iPod. But I suspect mods wouldn't like it if I told you about the other software so you'll have to Google around for it yourself, as a last resort of course.
P.S. Katrina in your computer specs do you mean 3GHz instead of 300GHz maybe? Or 3000MHz or 300MHz? =)

  • Newbie has question about Apple TV

if I download a torrent file/show then convert it in iSquint and put it in my iTunes, can I play it on my tv via Apple TV? thanks

So long as iSquint can convert a file for iPod, it should also play on AppleTV.
It's the output file that's relevant not the source file.
Remember that iSquint itself will make things suitable for iPod viewing, and these may well be lower resolution than AppleTV could handle unless it's changed recently. VisualHub has AppleTV presets.
