Question about audible account

Does anyone know how to disable the audible advertisements that occasionally play while I am using itunes? It is extremely annoying to be playing some great music and then have a voice pipe up with "Did you know you qualify for 2 new free ipods?" Do I need to disable my audible account or is there something else I need to do? Thanks Brcwy

It sounds like you might have a virus or something. I don't have any ads appearing/playing when I have my music playing. Are you also sure the song file itself didn't have the ad in it and instead of itunes playing an ad.

  • I changed a password to an online account and I got a question about which account

Hi There, someone seems to have gotten into my personal information somehow and I'm trying to figure out to what extent.
I have changed passwords on everything from iTunes and email accounts and I was just going through online accounts. I was resetting my password on Acklands grander and I was posed with a question:
    "For Which Account"
    - [email protected]
    - Madness
The myemail account is my account. What is this message about "Madness"?
The browser I was using is Firefox and I certainly have never used that name in any way.
Is this a hidden account on my computer, firefox, or the Acklands Granger Website?
I could find no other evidence of this acccount anywhere I looked apart from that message.
    Help!
    Alex

hello alex, this is certainly no hidden account by firefox but other than that i'm afraid we at the support for mozilla's firefox browser won't be able to help you any further with this question. please contact the webiste where you've tried to reset your password to inquire more about the account they have displayed during the procedure.
    <br>thank you for your understanding!

What do you mean 'cancelled all my apps' ?
Have you got any auto-renewing subscriptions ? There are instructions on this page for managing and stopping them : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4098
Or does anybody else have access to your account and/or devices and may have made those purchases ? If nobody else has, and if they aren't auto-renewing subscriptions that you hadn't stopped, then you can try contacting iTunes Support : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/

  • Question about user accounts in multi domain scom design

    hello,
there is a root forest with 30 child domains. fully trusted. we want to have a MS in each of the child domains and RMS in the root. so each MS in child domains report to the RMS which holds the SQL as well. since we want to use a single account for all the
SQL and SCOM related tasks I would like to know what is the best method to achive this process?
I want to use a single (Domain User) account for all the SCOM and SQL related task in all of the child domains and management servers.
the design is scom 2007 r2.
    any ideas?

is that enough? I am worriyng about this account not to have enough access on SQL or SDK and ...
dos this user needs to be local admin on all management server although the management servers are joined to another domains?
    can you please clarify this.
    thanks for your help.

  • Question about user accounts

Setting up new mini with 10.6 installed. This is my second Mac, current system is eMac with 10.3. All files/media I want to save are backed up on ext. HD.
This time I want to set up an Administrator Acct. and another User Acct. (without Admin. access) for routine use. Did not know enough to do that the first time.
But, I want access to all the old files without ownership/privileges problems.
As I understand it, I can make the user acct. names the same as the names on my acct. on the old system and there should not be any problem? I have a reason for wanting to not do this, but certainly can and probably will, if that will work.
To help me understand all this, is the "short name" the real account name/identifier? In other words, can I make the user name anything I want as long as the "short name" is the same?

The info you have given has thrown me for a loop. As I stated in my reply to Scott I am really having trouble understanding this whole account/file ownership issue, although I thought I had it figured out and was seeking verification.
Regarding your info about copying files from an external drive, how/why does "ignore ownership on this drive" work?
"ignore ownership" makes all files on the external read+write by any user so there are no issues with permissions.
Did a lot of research on several Mac help sites before posting here. A common problem seems to be someone wanting/needing to change account name(s) on a system they will continue to use. Common advice given is:
    Create new account.
    Copy/transfer files to new account.
    Remove/delete old account.
How/why does that work without file ownership/permissions being a problem?
most files have read permissions by everybody when created so copying them from one account to another is not a problem. please read up on the basic permissions structure
    http://www.perlfect.com/articles/chmod.shtml
I understand that the real UID is a numeric code. How does the system arrive at that code?
the very first user account created on any mac has UID 501 by default. the next one 502 and so on.
It seems to me if I use the same, exact, account name(s), file ownership would not be an issue.
that's completely wrong. same account name doesn't help in any way at all. same user ID is what's checked.
for example when you create a file on an external drive and then move that drive to another computer if you access it from an account with the same user ID by a different user name it will show you as the owner.

  • Questions about using accounts on iCloud

My wife and I each have an iPhone 4 and our own Windows computers running Vista.  We also have separate Yahoo email accounts and separate Microsoft Outlook accounts.  Presently we both use the same MobileMe account name for iTunes (me.com).  The reason for the same me.com account was to easily share the iTunes purchases.  At present we both use that same account as our iCloud account.
My question:  Should we each have our own iCloud account so that our calendars, mail and contacts in Outlook don’t get mixed up.  We still want to share purchases on iTunes and have access to each other’s calendars in Outlook.

You should be prompted to enter the password to that account when going into the Updates tab, you shouldn't need to log in and out of accounts.

  • Question about multiple accounts

Not sure if this is the right forum area or not, but since it mostly deals with the actual itunes account, here goes: My wife and I both have ipod touchs and I was wondering if there was a way to link app purchases made or do we have to purchase them separately for each ipod?

Okay, so I have the same question, but am quite confused with the answer... I have an iPhone, and I just bought an iPod touch for my girlfriend. We would prefer for her to have her own iTunes account, because she can't remember my password and it would be easier that way. How can she still have access to the apps I've already purchased, but have her own iTunes account on a different computer? It's a single household, we each have our own computers, and we want to be able to share each others app purchases, especially since half of my apps were purchased for her before I bought her an iPod. It it a complicated solution, or something real simple that I'm just missing?

  • Odd question about calendar accounts

I have a user who has several users that want to use a calendar account for scheduling. However, they do not want to use their own calendar accounts and then open the scheduling account - the claim is that there are too many clicks.
So my main user asked the following question:
Is there a way to designate two passwords for a calendar account, with each password allowing different privileges when signed in?
I don't think this is possible, but I wanted to confirm this.
    Thank you!

    Michael,
I think that it is not possible. In the OID a user has only one password field. There is no standard way to achieve what your uer wants. So it has to be programmed, but I don't know how

    hi melody,
FS00 > Control data > open item management (must be checked for recon accounts)
but if you have already posted with this account is not possible to make it as recon account, if is the case, you must delete it and create a new account (open item management checked) and report the postings from the first to new account.

  • Question about User Accounts and bugs

    Hello!
I'm a developer and just started this iPhone app project so I'm not really experienced with all this cocoa/Mac/iPhone world yet.
The thing is: I'm having this crash on the app running on the simulator, but this ONLY happens with my main user account. Doesn't happen on the device, on another account on the same computer or my coworkers computers.
I haven't found what's causing this, so I'm thinking about deleting my account and recreating it.
Is deleting an user account like formatting it?
Is there anything that I could try before deleting it? Like restoring permissions or the OS with the dvd... These are things that I read about Mac Support.
    Any ideas?

    roam wrote:

No, deleting it removes it. Like, put in the trash and then empty it.
Importantly you should create a new user account with Admin privileges and from that new account delete the older one. Doing it this way still leaves you with Admin control of your computer.
Before you delete an account... as to your particular problem, there are particular forums concerned with application development. Click on the link below for more specialized forums regarding iPhone app development and your coding error.

Yeah, I created another account with Admin privileges, I'm just reluctant to the idea of having to config everything again in the new account. I tried Stack Overflow and iPhoneDevSDK, will try the Apple's forum now.
    Thanks mate.

  • Question about Itunes account and gift cards

My question is that if I log into my itunes account on a different computer than i usully use, can I access it later on my normal computer, or do I have to reedem it on the same computer that I originally put the gift card on? please help!

You can log into the store on any PC that has iTunes installed and see your balance.
You do realize though, if you download something on that PC you will need to copy it over to your normal PC? Such as byusing a memory stick or your iPod put into manual mode.
You only get one download. You can't re-download things to multiple PCs.

  • Questions about Audible supp

I'm in the market for a HDD-based DAP and am interested in books as well as my music.
I've checked out audible.com and have a couple questions:
I see that you can download books in mp3, along with other lower quality formats.
Does a DAP need to have audible support to play these mp3's. If so, why can't any mp3 player play them? (For example, they list the Zen Xtra as supporting the mp3, but not the Rio Carbon)
Does "audible support" refer the ability to create bookmarks, etc. or is it just the ability to play certain lower quality audio formats that audible.com offers?
Please help out an audible.com newbie?
    TIA

audible support means the ability to play audible's files, which are NOT mp3 files. They have 5 formats, and different players can play different ones. One or 2 of these formats are basically mp3 files that have been encrypted by audible. You need audible software of some kind to play them---regular mp3 software can't. Audible support also includes the ability to bookmark and resume where you left off in a book, even if you play other music on your play in between. Different devices are better at this than others. iPod is good, my Palm is good, my old broken Gateway DMX20 stunk (when it worked at all). The audible program is actually great--it keeps track of where you left off WITHOUT a bookmark. It can "synch" with your player to add more of the book or take off the stuff you already listened to (it keeps track of this). In general, the audible formats go from poor sounding and small file ( and 2) to decent sounding (3 and 4). The best sounding is still actually only like 32kbs mp3 in mono, so you are not getting concert-hall quality.
Since my Zen Touch does not support audible, I listen to books on my Palm Tungsten T. This is a software player that is, frankly, the best I've used so far (including iPod---BY FAR).
were I to buy a portable player again today, I would have bought the Zen Micro or Rio Carbon instead of the Zen Touch (just for Audible and Janus compatibilty).
Don't bother to burn CDs then rip back to MP3 files--this is a MESS!!! You have to split the files or else you will get GIGANTIC Mp3 files, which are a real pain to navigate, and mp3 files DO NOT have bookmark ability, generally. The easier way to circumvent 2 or 5 CDs is to use a program called "goldwave" and convert your audible files into mp3 files, splitting them every 0 min or so (just like "Books on Tape" does is with their MP3 disks). This is sort of a poor-man's bookmark. You can wind up with 50 MP3 files for a book, but at least you can find your place again. They play on an mp3 cd player or zen continuously, so you don't notice the track changes much. Search google for "goldwave-audible". I have used this and it works. I don't consider it illegal, as I'm only taking a book I bought and converting it to play on a player I own---not give it away or make copies of it, etc.. This process is not real time (like those sound-capture programs that record what is playing on your sound card). This converts the digital file into a .wav then back into mp3 (or whatever you want---wma if you like).

  • Questions about two accounts on ipad

My workplace was very smart in purchasing iPads for the employees use. They built an iTunes account and set all the iPads up with the same apps. I'm an apple products user and have an iPod Touch and IPhone 4. So, I added my iTunes account to the iPad and downloaded my apps to use.
I need to update several apps that were downloaded under their iTunes account. My Question is, Can I sign out of my iTunes account, Sign into their's (yes, I have the password), and update their apps without all my apps downloading to their account? I'd like to avoid that headacke if possible! Then I will again return to my iTunes account.
    Thank you for your help!

You should be prompted to enter the password to that account when going into the Updates tab, you shouldn't need to log in and out of accounts.
