Question about Audigy 2 ZS/Toslink Connect

I bought one if these...
http://www.buyextras.com/optotoop3mip.html
so the I could use toslink with the digital out to hook up to my 5. stereo receiver. But it's not working. I was never totally sure if toslink even works with Audigy 2 because the instruction only talk about DIN and Coaxial connections. Does toslink even work? I am SOL? or do I just have it hooked up wrong? Please help.

You have the wrong type of adaptor/cable. The digital out of the sound card is a minijack electrical type and not of a optical type. That's way it will not work,

Hello! I have a huge question about how can I get connected my iphone 4 with my car Is there any opption on find my car application? I have a Volvo xc60 and I want to be connected all the time with my iphone. Can I do that?

Hello. I can say that you have a quite strange „huge question”… It’s non-sense to stay connected with your car which is hundreds miles away. Unless…
I have a theory. You don’t want to controll your car, you want to controll somebody who is driving the car. Volvo XC 60 is a nice family car, usually used by married men between age of 35-45, probably with small children, so it’s very unlikely that you want to controll your teanage kid, mainly because probably even if you would give him/her to drive the car in the neighborhoud, I don’t think that he/she would be „several hundred miles away”…  If your child is not young teneage anymore, and he/she has his/her own life, but you want to control him/her, that is sick… So I am convinced that you want to controll your husband who probably travelling often! Am I wright?
Isnt’t nice at all! Would you like if you would be monitorized in such way? I bet you don’t!
Anyway, iPhone is smart, you can use for many things, but come on, you really were thinking that there is such kind of application???
What could you do it's to put in the car a GPS survelling system, however I don't think that you could do it without your husband knowledge, otherwise he won't be able to start the engine...

  • Questions about Audigy 2 ZS connecti

    Hello,
New to these forums, so bear with me. I'm considering purchasing an Audigy 2 ZS gamer card, and have some questions about the card and speaker setup. I've read the FAQ's in the forum, and they have been a big help, but I still have questions related specifically to my setup. Here's the system specs:
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+
    Asus K8V SE Deluxe
    VisionTek Radeon X800 XT PE
    Seagate 250 gig SATA HDD
    gig Crucial ram
    Antec P80 case
    Antec TruePower 430 ps
Altec Lansing ADA885 digital speakers (awesome sound)
Altec Lansing headset (cheap but works for voice and gaming)
    ADI AD980 onboard sound
    Windows XP Home
. I currently am able to run both the speakers and headset at the same time by using the front panel audio outlets on the case (helps with the immersion in IL2 946). I would like to continue doing this(using front panel audio) with the new card. I've found several places that have an adapter cable for sale, http://www.x-tap.com/

The plug that I have has only 3 separators, not 4. Will this work with the Audigy 2? I don't have a link for this plug, unfortunately.
    4. I had been considering purchasing? a set of USB headphones, but I've been told that when you plug them in, the sound is cut off for the speakers. If there was a workaround for this, I might consider getting them. Then I wouldn't have to use the front panel audio or the connections on the card.
    5. I've heard of an issue with this particular set of speakers and the Audigy 2 card, particularly that the speakers were originally designed for a Dell system, and the wiring was phased differently than in other systems. Is this something to be concerned with, and if so, is there a workaround?
I like to research a particular product before I buy it, in order to make an informed decision and avoid problems if possible. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't
Thanks in advance for the help.

The inputs are easy to find and select:?
Right-click the Mixer icon on the taskbar and select "Playback Devices".<
There should open a new Window with the options of "Speakers" and "SPDIF"<
With Speakers highlighted click the?"Properties" button on the lower?right corner<
Go to the 4th tab (I believe it is "volume" in english, "Pegel" in german)<
    There you have your inputs!<
Unmute Line-In and set its volume according to your desires.<
Also remember that software designed for XP, that should control the Line-IN settings, (ie. Hauppauge WinTV or Dscaler) will be unable to do so in Vista, do to the architecture change. You can however enable "Compatibility Mode for Windows XP SP2" for these applications (right-click on their executable) and restore control of the inputs directly from the program. (You should however unmute it first as explained above). PS:? All Creative Software that came on the CD is incompatible to Vista. Only the included Audio Console should work as expected.Message Edited by alexs3d2 on 05-07-200707:3 PM

  • Questions about VOIP and recording in Connect

    Hi,
We have been using Connect for a long time, but have been doing the audio using AT&T teleconferencing. We were thinking about using VOIP for the webinars we do. I just have a few questions.
    1. Is there a limit of the number of connections to VOIP like there is with the teleconferencing? Is there a point where the number on there could decrease the quality of the VOIP?
    2. When we record the webinar, where can we save it to? Can we save it to our server?
Any help with these questions would be great. Anything else that would be good to know for doing VOIP and recording?
    Thanks.
    Lisa

We don't natively integrate with AT&T by the way - so you have to use Universal Voice in this case and set it up yourself. Not hard to do.
    1. No limit on VOIP but we recommend using the optional SPEEX audio codec built into the Host Add-In if using VOIP a lot. It requires everyone to be using the Host Add-In though. Over 150 though and it might get unruly!
    2. Recordings are saved to the Adobe Connect Central portal that every customer has for their rooms. You can create a local copy from there and then copy the local copy to another server. It's a Flash file so you may need to convert it if you don't have a player.

    Godfather,
I actually was having a very hard time loading up the images but managed to get them up.
Unfortunately this particular card is not compatible with the Audigy 2 Value. The Audigy 2 Value does not include a header for a gameport/midi input.

  • Question about Audigy sound card

Hi everyone, right now i have a very outdated sound card, a creative li've 6 bit. It sucks i'm not going to lie. But anyways, i have my home theatre system hooked up into it through a Y splitter cable so that i can hook the rca cables into the /8 slot in the sound card.
If i turn up the speakers really loud, i hear a static noise, a hum and fuzz if you will. The music usually drowns it out but then if the music stops i'm left with an awful hum. I am for sure upgrading to the Audigy Extreme, and i'm wondering if that would have any affect? I know the sound of the actual movie or song will be way better, but how about that hum?
    Hopefully you all can help!
    thanks so much!

    sprint_9,
Yes, you're right. The Digital I/O module isn't compatible with the Audigy 2 ZS soundcard.
You should be able to find a 3.5mm mono to RCA cable easily from your local audio/electronic stores if not, you can also get a 3.5mm stereo to dual RCA cable for the same purpose. Take note, only one end of the RCA cable has the audio signal(Sorry, can't remember whether it's the white or the red end).
You can also find such cable from online stores like this.

  • Questions about using FILE adapter to connect to other systems

    Hi,
in my PI scenario i am facing a problem in usage of the file adapter.
Our PI system is installed on a UNIX server. The target system for upload an download files is a WINDOWS system. The software installed on the WINDOWS system is only able to export the needed file lokal on the WINDOWS server.
Between UNIX systems i can connect a together used fileshare folder. But this won´t help me in my UNIX <> WINDOWS scenario.
I thougt on using an FTP server on the WIDNOWS system to make the PI able to connect via the FTP adapter but this works fine for one or two systems. I don´t think that this ist the best solution when connection to a lot WINDOWS systems, but mayby i am wrong.
Actually i use UC4 to copy the files between the two systems.
Any ideas how to deal generally with such scenarios?
    Many thanks
    Michael

Even though if you map Unix and Windows OS to read the files, in the long run the design will put you in trouble. Means it requires constant support. Better you go with unix script as per the above suggestion.

  • Question about the use of JMS connections

    Good Morning,
I'm a new user of JMS technology. I'm having some problems with the performance of my application. Specifically, i'm developing a 24x7 application. We are using MessageListener for all consumers.
Doing performance and continuity tests I detected memory leaks in certain JMS classes. After passing a profiler tool, I saw a large amount of ObjectMessage and Message instances. We are not closing the session, MessageListeners, MessageConsumers or Connetion instances because we want to reuse them all the time, and we can't close them because we lose the high availability service.
Reading, the JMS tutorial, I'm saw this paragraph in the "Connection" section:
+"When an application completes, you need to close any connections that you have created. Failure to close a connection can cause resources not to be released by the JMS provider. Closing a connection also closes its sessions and their message producers and message consumers.+
    +queueConnection.close();+
    +topicConnection.close();+
+Before your application can consume messages, you must call the connection's start method; for details, see Section 3.5, "Message Consumers." If you want to stop message delivery temporarily without closing the connection, you call the stop method."+
Should I close the connection as the last paragraph say?. If so, I don't know how to do it without lose the service, because if I call "close" method on the connection and immediatelyi start it, i will lose all my consumers and producers for a little time.
    Any suggestion?
    Thank you in advance,
    Regards

You should close a connection when you have no further use for it as this will release resources.
You must start a connection if you want to receive messages from it.
Most applications don't use stop(). However if your application needs to temporarily pause delivery of messages (to the application) for some reason, call stop(). When your application wants delivery of messages (to the application) to restart, call start() again.

  • Question about how a RAC database connects to ASM

I have recently installed Grid Clusterware 11.2.0.1 on an IBM PSeries server running AIX. Today, I installed the Oracle database software, version 11.2.0.1, but when I try to start the database, I get an error message: ORA-01031: insufficient privileges.
I can log in to the ASM instance using "sys as sysdba" but when I try to log in to ASM as "sys as sysasm" then I get the same error message.
Obviously I have configured something incorrectly. I would appreciate any help locating the proper documentation so I can correct my errors. All advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi,
Regarding the AIX group "asmdba", we do not have separate administrators to handle the administration of ASM in 11g. I read in the documentation (Grid Infrastructure Installation Guide) that if separate administrators are not wanted for ASM and the database(s), then "asmdba" group is optional. Would you recommend creating this group anyway?I agree to create OS group asmdba it's mandatory only if you are using different user to GUI Install.
But it's a question of organization of the environment. Each group will designate different kinds of permissions and different roles.
So, Although the ASM come built into Oracle Database (actually 11.2 and higher Oracle has created a new layer called Grid Infrastructure), Clusterware, ASM and Database products are completely different for different purposes. With the evolution of these products believe that the tendency is they have their own installation and administration. Yet all will work together.
Create a group asmdba will not impact the current environment, only will help keep the environment more organized to the future. Look on the bright side, if one day you need of group asmdba, you does not need to re-configure the environment.
Correcting my previous post the group that has permission to access as SYSASM privilege is asmadmin instead of asmdba.

    Hello,
I am working with vpn setups for the first time, so I have some questions I would really appriciate some help with. I would like to be able to connect to a computer on a home network through a linksys E2500 router. I have found alot of documentation on connecting to an external vpn from a computer on the lan side of the router, but nothing on connecting from the outside in. The router does have a static ip address with my internet provider, so I can contact the router from the outside. But makeing the connection to the computer on the other side of the router is where I am missing something or I dont realize that it is not possible. On the lan side I am using DHCP to assign the address to the computer I want to connect to. Perhaps I need to make it have a static address also? I realize that when I configure the connection from the outside that I need to direct the connection to the remote computer in some way, unless vpn connections are fully passed through the router and the connection issue I am haveing is with the "inside" computer.

    BigBen,
I'll answer your questions here point by point (for clarity).
) No, that won't be possible. A line input is only stereo, so all you'll receive signal-wise is just a stereo stream. You'll need a coaxial or optical input to get that signal to the card (only available on the Platinum dri'ves).
    2) In theory that could work, yes, the connections are there. That isn't something we would have tested (or support), though.

  • Audigy 2 ZS & Gigaworks S750 & Sat Receiver Toslink Connect

Not sure if this is a noob question or not, but can I connect the Toslink (optical) connection on my satellite receiver directly to my Audigy 2 ZS card via Toslink to Mini cable? I assume it would just plug into the "Line In" mini jack? And if so, will this output Dolby Digital 5. to my Gigaworks speakers? Or do I need to get a Creative Decoder or better soundcard to accept Toslink connections from satellite receivers?

That's essentially correct, yes. If the satellite receiver does support 5. (AC3 signals), then you would need something with an optical input to connect to the card. For instance, you could add a Platinum dri'vebay afterwards.
I'm not familiar with those satellite receivers though so I'm not sure what kind of audio they specifically support, if it's a true 5. signal and how it's processed.

Question about personal hotspot. I know I can share GSM / 3G but I would like to know if my iPhone is connected to a wifi can I also share that wifi collection, through personal hotspot? And if so can it be through wifi or does it have to be Bluetooth or USB?
Sounds like an odd question but my phone will connect to BT Openzone so I want to share that with my iPad via personal hotspot. I could use 3G but then it comes off my data allowance and I don't want to have to buy a separate SIM for my iPad if I can avoid it. I can swap my sim from my phone, but that's a pain!

No, unfortunately Personal Hotspot will only use your 3G plan.

It seems like some self-services are HR-related, while others are more financials related?
So, if you connect the SAP_R3_SelfServiceGenerics to the HR server, then how do Financials related requests get handled? Is there linkage between HR and Finance?
Or am I completely not understanding how Cross-Application Components work?
