Question about batch transfer limitation

Just got a brand new iMac 24" 3 days ago and love it. My first Mac.
I'm interested in creating hunting and family videos so I was reading about the differences between FCP and FCE. The articles say that FCE cannot do a batch transfer for capturing and I want to be sure I know what that means. Last night I hooked my Canon HV30 up and using iMovie it automatically imported all the video from the tape and it appeared to automatically group each different section where I had started/stopped the tape into different sections. That appeared to be a batch import to me so can FCE do the same thing as iMovie or does this mean something else?
Thanks,
Gil Jones

It means something else. Batch capturing means you define sections to capture before you ingest the material. Then go back in give the applications instructions to simply capture the sections you wanted. FCE will capture HDV material very much as iMovie does.

  • The Question about stock transfer between HU-Management and WM-Management

    Hi,
There is a scenario about stock transfer between HU-Management and WM-Management storage location. I use transaction MB1B , movement type 313 , 315. After Good issue from WM-management storage location, outbound delivery will genarated, then Pack, Create/Confirm TO, at last post goods issue for the outboud delivery. But when i do movement type 315, there is a warning message "Data of preceding document was not transmitted", and from the F1 help i find this system reponse "You can maintain an indicator that makes information about preceding documents in this delivery available under delivery type in Customizing. For some characteristics of this indicator, the type of preceding document and the related document and item numbers must be transmitted to delivery creation. At least one of these parameters is missing.".
    So, My questions are:
    1. Generallily, Outbound delivery is created by SO, inbound delivery is created referenc PO, but how the stock transfer for 2 steps generate the outbould delivery and inbound delivery? Could you pls tell me the where i can config this in the IMG?
    2. What's "Data of preceding document was not transmitted" mean ? how to fix this issue ?
    Best Regards

    Hi,
Sure, The inbound delivery type is set up in the IMG->Logistics General -> HU management -> Basics ->Delivery type -> Delivery type determination.
For Inbound delivery type 'HID' is maintained in this view.
    Best Regards.

  • Few questions about netGroup neighbors limits

I'm playing around with a p2p messenger type of client where i'm catching neighbors when the netgroup.neighbor.connect event goes off, and then using add neighbor by adding their peerID (not the neighborID, i'm not really quite sure how/why that would be used) then i'm having message objects instantly send on the neighbor.connect.success to update the others array of "online users"
So far it's working really well and i feel as if its a pretty effective system. But, I just wanted to ask how well it will scale and if it's worth continuing to develope or not because how well would it work if it had between 100-1000+ people. What is the max amount of neighbors? Will the object i have sending off when a neighbor connects to them cause an issue when it gets to be a bunch of clients all sending each other their username info on the neighbor connect event?
Another question would be if when 2 cleints decide to connect and say video/text chat i've been having them do a Direct Connection connect vi peerIDs and closing their netgroup connection so the disconnect event can delete the object with their peerID/username in it. Should I be leaving them connected as neighbors and use neighborids somehow? or should be be doing somethign where i have a pubish and play stream going at all times, but just have them pick a similar generated play/publish channel and them neigborsend that to each other? I just though If i have neighbors constantly disconnecting and doing direct connects it could help prevent the neighbor overload incase their is a limit.
It would be awesome if someone could help share some of their knowlege on these questions, thanks!

there is no technical limit to the number of neighbors you can have.  however, you can't force a client to always be connected to a specific peer.  using "NetGroup.addNeighbor()" for a peer that is currently a neighbor (that is, for which you just got a NetGroup.Neighbor.Connect event) doesn't do anything.  and if you do add a new neighbor, the group topology manager may automatically choose to disconnect later if that neighbor isn't strictly necessary to maintain the desired topology.
each member of a group will naturally have about O(log N) directly connected neighbors in a group of N peers.  the actual number is approximately 2 * log2 N + 13.  groups have full transitive connectivity but are not necessarily fully meshed (where each member has a direct-neighbor connection to every other member).  groups will typically be naturally fully meshed below about 17 members.
as you've supposed, a full mesh isn't scalable to 100-1000+ members, and there's no reliable way to maintain a full mesh with the existing ActionScript APIs anyway (you can't set a neighbor to be "permanent" in the ActionScript API).  note that in a group operating normally, if an average member had 100 neighbors in the steady state, you would expect the group size to be about 2^43 =~ 9,000,000,000,000 (9 trillion) members.  groups that large are unlikely.
if you want to send a short message to every member of the group, use NetGroup.post().  that disseminates a message through a group efficiently to each member, but not instantaneously.  scalable distributed presence in a very large group is a complex problem.  unfortunately, a naïve approach will not be scalable or efficient.  i encourage you to search for "newscast" and other "graph diffusion" topics in the context of P2P to get a flavor for how you might approach this problem for very large groups (of like 1000+).
for smaller groups (of up to like 100ish) you can probably get by with having each member periodically posting a presence announcement to the group, and each member keeping track of the age of each announcement it hears, expiring ones after a reasonable timeout.
personally, i wouldn't leave the "everybody" group to do a 1:1 chat.

  • Quick question about sim transfer

    Hi all,
I have a quick question and hopefully one of you guys would be able to help me. My friend purchased his 3g iphone today and hes giving me his old iphone. I currently have a blackjack and I wanted to take the sims card from the blackjack and put into the original iphone. Will the iphone work with my sims card? It is an older sims card, says 64k on it. If not, would I have to bring it into at&t and get it activated w/a different sims card? Hopefully all this isnt confusing. Thanks for any help. Cheers!

    You're welcome.
I guess that also means I would have to upgrade to the 20 dollar data plan without the text messages as well?
The unlimited data plan for the first generation iPhone still costs $20/mo and includes 200 SMS. The only thing you need to get from an at&t store is a new SIM card. Take the iPhone with you telling them what you plan on doing and they should give you a new SIM card at no cost.
You will activate this iPhone with iTunes on your computer. If you are an existing subscriber, your calling plan will transfer to the iPhone, and any existing data plan you are using with your current phone will be cancelled. If you are an existing subscriber, your only selection will be the $20/mo unlimited data plan which includes 200 SMS, and you can select 1,500 SMS for an additional $10/mo or have unlimited SMS for an additional $20/mo.

  • Question about 1 CPU limitation

what about dual core CPUs or CPUs with hyperthreading enabled? Is the 1 CPU limitation on a per socket basis like the other Oracle products, or is it limited to one physical CPU core? thanks.
    -js

im wondering how this is acheived though? It is via cpu_count because I change it (up to a value of 3)
    SQL> show parameter cpu
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    cpu_count integer 1
    parallel_threads_per_cpu integer 2
    SQL> alter system set cpu_count = 10 scope = both;
    System altered.
    SQL> show parameter cpu

    cpu_count integer 3

  • Questions about documented client limitations

I set up a 1.4.2 Beehive server so my boss could test it out, and then sent him the end user PDF. Since we're currently using Oracle Calendar standalone, we're primarily interested in testing the time management component of Beehive, and generally via CalDAV clients.
The End User guide mentions some pretty serious limitations, though. In particular
    - only supporting up to 250 meetings per calendar. That's like one week for my boss. ;-)
    - only being able to look one month back for meetings.
These two limitations alone severely hobble the product. Why the limitations, and are there plans to remove them?
Also, how do you do free/busy searches via a CalDAV client, like Sunbird?
How do you search for other users, to be able to schedule a meeting with them?
We're really interested in Beehive since it's claimed goal is to allow the use of open standards-based clients, but some of the limitations in the current offering are pretty severe. We're looking for some kind of confirmation that these issues are on the roadmap to be addressed.
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Hi Tim,
    Some comments inline
    >
    - only supporting up to 250 meetings per calendar. That's like one week for my boss. ;-)The doc isn't too descriptive, is it :)
The limitation is not a server limitation per se, but rather a self-imposed limit and it's on a per-client type basis.
Fundamentally, in testing it was found that while some caldav clients handle large numbers of meetings nicely other caldav clients don't do so well. Beehive therefore puts a (configurable) limit on the number of meetings returned to each caldav client type. Note that 'meeting' in this case includes all occurences of a meeting, so if for example you have 20 meetings that repeat every week for a year that's counted as "20" not "20x52" meetings.
I believe the restriction is higher for iCal on the Mac than e.g. sunbird and lightning. Also, as the clients improve their scalability and handling of large number of meetings then the default limits will be increased accordingly.
If you (or your boss) is missing meetings in e.g. sunbird, then please do contact oracle support and they'll explain how to increase that limit for your boss's client (for diagnosability purposes, they'll be missing "this week" rather than way out in the future). I don't know the latest testing results for e.g. lightning 0.9, but I suspect that 1000 is probably still too high.
Even with a pretty busy schedule, 250 meetings is quite a lot. The only time i've seen people hit it is when they have many years worth of non-repeating day events (so for example, ten years worth of holidays for multiple countries where christmas day is not "repeats yearly" but instead is 10 individual meetings/day events.
    >
    - only being able to look one month back for meetings.I don't believe that's true anymore. In previous releases the solution to the above issue was to limit the number of meetings returned by 'time period' rather than count. In the more recent releases it's limited by count instead. I'm looking right now at my calendar in lightning 0.9 for september last year and it looks pretty full (although june isn't very full...)
    >
These two limitations alone severely hobble the product. Why the limitations, and are there plans to remove them?
Also, how do you do free/busy searches via a CalDAV client, like Sunbird?Click on the 'invite attendees' button in the 'new meeting' dialog. enter invitees' email addresses and the free/busy should complete automatically. There's also a 'search time slot' button that'll find mutually convenient times.
How do you search for other users, to be able to schedule a meeting with them? That's more tricky... if you use lightning then it'll pull the email addresses for auto-complete from your thunderbird addressbook. If you use iCal I believe it pulls from the mac address book. In Sunbird you have to know people's email addresses.
    hope that helps.
    regards,
    Richard

  • Question about Batch processes in CS4

    Hello everyone,
I was hoping there's a solution to my problem. My laptop's MoBo died recently so I wil be retrieving data from my HDD via another laptop. I created a Batch process in CS4 to resize and perform a few more actions on pictures. I was hoping to save that Batch process without having to recreate it. Are batch processes made by the user saved in a particular folder that I can just go into and copy?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Riley

Did you save the action as an *.atn file using the context menu of the palette?
If not, then the action is only "present" in one of the preferences files, together with all the other preferences.
You can try to copy the preferences files, but I don't know whether the action will "come to life".
Of course it must be the same version of photoshop on your other PC.

  • Question about batching

I'm using CS3 with XP.  Is there a way to batch 72 and 96 dpi .gif and convert them to 300 dpi .tif files?  I know how to convert individuals files but I've got 300 graphics to change.
    Thanks for your assistance.
    Michele

    Thanks for your response,
Adobe Bridge is an Image Processor program that comes with Adobe and what it does is that you can run a batch of images and process them to whatever you like.
To do this you must first of all record all actions in Photoshop. Follow this link that shows you how to.
    http://www.creativemac.com/2002/04_apr/tutorials/psbatch.htm
In simple words, Photoshop will have to trace everything that you do for an image. Once that is done you need to use that recorded action in adobe bridge.
Here is another link for that:

Let me know if this helps or you don't understand something, I will be more than glad to help you.

  • Question about toll-bypass, limited to one site

I know how to re-route calls to save on toll charges but it re-routes everything on the "on net". I want to re-route one site (in Canada to route through America) instead of all of the sites. Is there a way to do this?

Yes, i guess, you can do this using Calling search spaces and Route groups and routelists.

Try on another card or on other phone. Sometimes cards refuse to work correctly. Try to format it as Uli said. Also reboot your phone.
Check on your PC if files saved on card work fine. The easiest way is to fill it with pictures, reboot PC (to clear memory cache) and then watch pics from it. If they look fine card should be OK.

    3. i want to back up plug-in,patch,application program, game ect, how to operate iPhone backup?Anyone can tell me simple&professional tutorial about iPhone?Or introduce a good iPhone Transfer like or better than iTunes.
Appreciate your detailed answers! Thanks in advance.

iTunes is required to transfer iTunes content from your iTunes library on your computer - music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, 3rd party apps, and selected photos from your computer to your iPhone. iTunes also serves as the sync conduit for contacts and calendar events between your iPhone and the supported address book and calendar application on your computer.
iTunes creates and maintains a backup for your iPhone which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the iTunes sync process. The backup does not include all data on your iPhone. The backup does not include any iTunes content - music, movies, TV shows, podcasts, or 3rd party apps. All iTunes content on your iPhone should remain in your iTunes library on your computer and the backup doesn't include any photos transferred from your computer. All photos transferred from your computer should remain on your computer as well.
This link provides the data that is included with your iPhone's backup.

  • Question about sql batch process in java app

    hi all
i have few questions about using batch process in the
java.sql package. the addBatch method can take sql
statements like inserts or updates. addBatch() is a method that has no parameters. It doesn't 'add' sql statements.
    can we use a
mixture of insert and update then? can we use
prepared statement for this? it's just for
performance consideration. thanks in advance. The point of batching is that you take something that is invariant and then 'add' a variant part.
Thus a single insert has an invariant part (the table and specific columns) and a variant part (the data for each row by column.)
You can use anything that is valid SQL (for jdbc, driver, database) and use it presuming your database allows that particular usage in batching. But that does require some regular pattern - it won't work if your usage is random. Nor will it work if some statements need to be executed only some of the time. Finally also note that transaction processing will often require smaller chunks - you can't insert a million rows in one batch.

I bought a twelve-month Dreamweaver CC program with monthly payment that I have paid via bank transfer and there would be a question about the activation. How could I get the license key with which I can activate my account? I can not find it and now I only have access to the trial version.

There is no serial number require for Creative Cloud products, you may activate the products using your email address and password which is associated with Adobe. If your Dreamweaver asking for serial number, then make sure you are signing in with correct email address.

  • Questions about Macbook

I am about to go into my first year of college this July, and I've been looking for a laptop. I've used iMacs before a little bit, but I have a few questions about the Macbook Pro and Mac OS X 10.5. So if someone can help me that would be great.
First of all: How is the Macbook Pro overall as a laptop? Is it a pretty good one?
Secondly: How good is the back-up utility? (Time Machine) Is it pretty good? How big of an external hard drive would I need to back up everything?
Third question: How is the program Boot Camp? I'm planning on putting Windows XP Pro on the Mac using Boot Camp. How is compatibility? Also I've heard that if you make the partition for Windows less than 32 GB, the partitions would be able to "see" each other... does that mean Mac OS X can read FAT 32 drives? Would I be able to transfer files between the two OSs with that setup?
and lastly: Would Mac OS X be able to read my flash drive?
    Thanks in advance everyone

I find it phenomenal, the best laptop I've used. OS X is a versatile and stable OS, and the hardware hasn't given me any trouble.
Secondly: How good is the back-up utility? (Time Machine) Is it pretty good? How big of an external hard drive would I need to back up everything?
It works great for me. You can't be nit-picky, so if you want a backup program with lots of settings there are plenty of options, but for those of us who just want something to fall back on when the HD goes kaput or we delete a file on accident, its perfect.

I haven't used it enough to answer the file sharing questions, but in my limited use it's been excellent, and many friends rave.
It's worth noting that when PC World was testing the fastest Windows Vista laptops, #1 was the MBP running Vista on BootCamp.
and lastly: Would Mac OS X be able to read my flash drive?
Yes. USB drives work great. The only thing, when you delete a file off a flash drive with default formatting, you'll only send it to a hidden "trashes" file. To permanently delete it off the stick, you'll need to push commandshiftdelete.
    Hope that helps!
