Question about battery replacement please

I have a B575 laptop.  I'm looking to replace the battery.  The question I have, the battery that came with the computer is rated at 10.8v.  The replacements I've seen are rated at 11.1v.  Will the voltage difference be harmful to my computer or shorten the life of the new battery, or is it a marketing gimmick where all batteries have an actual rating that varies slightly.
Please advise ASAP.
Thanks.

hi JustMeee,
Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
In replacing the battery, it is ideal that you get a:
- battery with the same rated voltage (this is the specific voltage measurement at which the laptop can start functioning)
- battery with a lenovo FRU on it (this is to prevent any "unauthorized battery" error)
From this item,
There are two Voltage definitions: rated Voltage and maximum Voltage. The rated Voltage is the number of Volts required by the appliance in which the appliance is used. The maximum Voltage is the number of Volts provided by the battery when fully charged.
It's possible that the 11.1v replacement batteries that you saw is the maxmum voltage - which is ok and will not harm the battery nor the system but if this is the rated voltage, I recommend you stay away as it may do the opposite.

  • Question about battery maintenance and longevity

I have a question about the efficacy of the built-in battery maintenance of the Lenovo Power Manager utility; specifically how it pertains to my W520, if that makes any difference.
With my previous laptop (an HP), any time I knew it would be parked on my desk for a week or longer, I would manually discharge the battery to about 40% and remove it to run the machine on AC power only.  This proved to be an excellent practice that enabled the battery to work like new for three solid years.  As soon as I stopped bothering with that, the battery life started dropping like a stone.
Lenovo's power manager offers the option to maintain the battery automatically or manually override it to maintain a charge within specific range.  But I am wondering: how well this will work in the long run as compared to handling it manually?  And how do the two options (automatic and manual range) compare with eachother in terms of maintaining long term?
I currently use the manual setting and keep it between 40% and 45%.

I would put into manual, you have more control. Automatic follows a preset rule, which may not apply in every case or battery model.

  • Question about battery life

    Hi everyone,
I got my refurbished MBP 13" mid 2010 model two Friday's ago (July 16) from the Apple online store and I have some questions about the battery life....
Immediately after I got it, I followed all the battery calibration instructions from apple.com/batteries (and did it again after it because I was unsure if I did it properly). While it was charging, I was installing some recommended applications, one being coconutBattery. In the additional information section, it said that my MBP was 7 weeks old, has gone threw 10 battery load cycles, and had a original battery capacity of 97%. I am now at 17 loadcycles, with 94% original battery capacity.
Now to how much time I get with the battery... I have done some testing of my own, such as watching some movies (Tron and Star Trek First Contact, I'm a geek :D), basic web browsing (5 tabs open, reading blogs, watching a couple of 3 minute youtube videos) and listening to an audio book (iWoz) with a tab or two open. The best battery life I have gotten (basic web browsing) was 5 1/2 hours, with 60% LCD brightness, keyboard backlight off, and bluetooth off, with just Chrome and coconutBattery open.
Is this the average battery life for everyone else? I bought this because of its supposedly good battery life, and though I am very happy with my purchase, I just want to make sure that I have a fully working MBP.
    Some other notes:
The battery meter next to the clock sometimes says that 98% is fully charged (I think it is just a glitch)
The estimated battery life is between 9-11 hours when brightness is at 30%-40%, airport and bluetooth is off, and keyboard backlight is off when I am doing text editing.
    Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Forgot to say I have the 2.4ghz 250gb model.

  • My iPhone 3GS is arriving soon, Questions about battery.

Hello all. I have both the original iPhone and 3G. I purchased a 3GS and it is about to be shipped.
I have a question about getting the MOST out of my battery.
When I receive the phone, what is the best technique for getting the most out of the battery? Like what I mean is... Should I get the phone, use it all day until it dies and THEN fully charge it? Or should I charge it to 100% right when I get it?
    Or does it even matter?
    Thanks!

Charge it to 100% out of the box. Then use it until it drains to zero, or close to it, and then recharge and you're good to go!

  • Questions about APO training (Please reply urgently).

    Hey guys,
I am starting my training in APO with a training institute ,which will train me for about 50 hrs on APO, and grant me 3 months of access to the SAP system.
    I had the following questions.
    1. What are the prior requirements if you have to take certification exam for APO? Are there any prerequisites, or any sort of other requirements?
    2.  I wanted to know if 3 months access would be enough for me to prepare for certification? If not then how much access is enough?
    3.  How long can I not give the exam again, if I fail once?
    Thanks a lot guys,
    Take care.

Please refer to the WIKI page of (Supply Chain Management) SCM in the APO section in the same SDN site; you have FAQs and good training material in that WIKI page. Please refer to this, hope this may help you.

  • Odd question about a replacement keyboard for HP pavilion G71326DX

I have a G7 1326DX that needs a replacement keyboard. However A frind of mine recently purchased a G72233cl and I noticed that the keyboards were basically the same, however his had a design that I like much better (Key types). My question is, Can I purchase a Replacement keyboard for the G72233cl and install that keyboard into my G71326DX. I have looked into the connection interface, as well as lined up the notches around the edges of the keyboard with pictures of the replacement keyboards, However I want to make sure it will work correctly before I make my Purchase. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
    Marvin Parnell

    Hello MPnarnell,
The keyboard on your G7-1326dx needs to be replaced, but you want to use a keyboard for a G7-2233cl, is that correct? I will try to help you .
Comparing the keyboard section of the manuals the part number for the keyboard you want to you use doesn’t show in the G7-1326dx list of compatible keyboards. The reason being probably is because it has never been fully tested.
Now both computers are G7’s but they are 2 totally different series of G7’s so the motherboards are probably different as well. This is one of those issues where you would have to  test it out and see, I don’t believe it will work but I could be wrong. Here is the part number for the keyboard that came on the G7-2233cl. (699146-001)
If you decided to go ahead and try to change it be sure to check for a BIOS update before doing so.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

  • 2 questions about battery change.

Well i got my first gen. ipod shuffle last yr summer and my warrenty ends this yr....
so will it cover the battery change or not? and um...do they still change the battery for the first gen. ipod shuffle since the second gen. ipod shuffle is already out there. ya so those are my two questions

The battery is covered under warranty.
His 2nd question was leaning in the direction of "now
that there is a 2G iPod Shuffle, do they still fix
    the 1G iPod Shuffle?"
Going by a true definition, as you seem to want to
do, we should simply tell everyone, "When you send in
your iPod under warranty, you will NOT get it back.
Apple will probably just give it to someone else.
    Sorry."
NOOooo... Apple will REPLACE your Shuffle with another one
AND will NOT warrant the replacement beyond the length of the ORIGINAL's warranty or 90 days whichever is longer.
    That's all folks...

  • 4 Questions About Iphoto- Experts Please Reply

Hi, im still new to iphoto 11 and mac in general, so im hoping I will find a few people on here who can bring me up to speed fast on a few things that Im having problems with.
I imported some photos from my digital camera ( then wiped them off my camera ) now they all show up in iphoto which is fine but here are my questions
    1. I want to use the share option and upload to facebook but I notice by looking under info that each photo is like 4mb in size which is massive. So I know you can select it and export out and select SMALL and that will reduce the size of the photos but then it exports them to a folder on my computer. How can i relook at those photos that are exported and edit them further within iphoto before hitting share in iphoto? Do i have to import them back into iphoto? and if so do I now have duplicate photos?
2.When i imported all the photos from my camera in, it just gave them filenames like 293043.jpg and so when i go to FINDER and look under photos it shows them all as numbers and i want each photo to be something like meinnewyork.jpg,  intimessquare.jpg,  empirestatesbuilding.jpg  now usually in windows i would just rename but I cant seem to do that here in batch. Yes I have tried doing this by going in iphoto to PHOTOS and batch change but all that does is change the title and description not the filename. So how do i do this, there must be a simple way?
    3. Right now when i go into iphoto and click either events or photos in the left bar i see my photos. But I want to sort them into albums, so I have about 100 taken from my trip to new york but I want an album for "empire states building", "times square" etc... Now I know how to create an album and add them to it, But my question is. Does this create doubles of your photos as I dont want my computer filling up with doubles of photos?
    4. Iphoto 11 seems to be automatically taken my photos and creating more photos from those photos called " FACES" how do i stop it automatically doing that and if i want to use that feature is there a place to turn it on?
I know this seems like a lot of questions but it would help me tons
    Thanks

    Q1
If you want to uload smaller photos from iPhoto (and I don't know why you would as Facebook will compress them
anyway) then the thing to do is export last thing, only after you have done all your editing.
    Q2
When you title a photo in iPhoto that's adding a title not renaming a file. But you're making a different mistake here. When you use an app like iPhoto it becomes your go-to app for your photgraphs. Everything you need to do - edit, print, upload, whatever - should be done via or with iphoto, not the Finder. There is no way to rename a file in iPhoto except during export.
    Q3
No it doesn't. iPhoto Albums simply reference photos in the Library. A shot can be in 50 albums and use no extra disk space whatever.
    Q4.
Where are you seeing these _Face files? In the iPhoto Window? Somewhere else?
    Regards
    TD

  • Uk Mac user. Questions about internet connection please!

    I own a Mac G4 800 Mhz tower.
At present connect to the internet via ethernet to router.
The past few days it has been running very slowly.
Checked the Netgear router page where it states the incoming strength is approx 4MB.
*+What can be done to help utillise the incoming speed please?+*
*+What do I need to make the G4 cable free please?+*
*+Is there a 3rd party version of the Airport card (if that is needed) please?+*
Any help and advice gratefully received!

What can be done to help utillise the incoming speed please?
That depends where the slowdown is. The quickest way to cut this problem down to size is to find an Interactive Internet Speed Test online, and run it.
If the measured speed (which is essentially download speed) is way too slow -- you need to complain to your ISP about it, and follow their suggestions.
If the measured speed is reasonable, but your perception is that it is too slow, post information about what situations, using what browsers, are the worst offenders, and readers will take a run at advising you.
I suggest you start a different thread with your inquiry about wireless equipment.

  • Question about battery life on brand new mbp

I have had my mbp 11 days now, and the battery life seems very short.
I have tiger woods 08 installed
20 minutes of playing and the battery life is down from 100% to 20%.
This seems very short, its not only playing games, the battery life seems to go down very fast when browsing the internet etc.
    Cycle count is 8.
Can anyone tell me, is this what i should expect?

In particular read the article on calibrating the battery. If you haven't done this, then I suggest you try it first. If problems persist then followup with a call to AppleCare or your local Apple retailer.

  • [Question]General Question about iphone replace

hi all, sorry for the post but cant find any answer in apple support page.
i live in israel, my family bought me iphone 3G, my wi-fi isnt working..
if i`ll give the phone to my family can they walk into apple store and replace the phone?
since day 1 phone isnt working,
i dont have recipt or at&t contract for this phone
    i do have warrenty
my family have 2 3g iphones at&t contract...
    Message was edited by: shachar

When an iPhone 3G is purchased new in the U.S., activation with AT&T and signing a two year contact with AT&T is required at the time of purchase.
If this iPhone was purchased new at an Apple Store or at an AT&T corporate store by whoever purchased this iPhone for you, this means they were required to activate the iPhone 3G and sign a two year contract with AT&T at that time.
If this iPhone that was purchased new in the U.S. is no longer activated with AT&T, the warranty will not be honored unless the iPhone is activated with AT&T. If the iPhone is activated with AT&T, you must return the iPhone to someone you know in the U.S. and have the person you know take it to an Apple Store for inspection and testing for a possible exchange under warranty.
If you have hacked this iPhone to be unlocked for use with another provider's SIM card besides AT&T, doing so is against Apple's license agreement for the iPhone, is not supported by Apple, and voids the warranty.
This iPhone must be activated with AT&T, not hacked for use with another provider's SIM card, and it must be returned to the U.S. in order for Apple to honor the warranty if the problem cannot be resolved by any other means besides an exchange under warranty.

  • A question about arrays. Please Help

Ok here is my question lets say i have a multie varible array such as
int[][] thisList = new int[3][64];And I have a number of other arrays that are single variable arrays, and which have data stored in them.
    List1[64]
    List2[64]
List3[64]is there a way i can store all these three list in the multie varible array?
for example i know i can do this, > Correct me if i am wrong
List1 = List2; where List1 one now contains all the elements that List2 has.
but is there a way i can
us the same format with a multie varible array, to store all three list in it.
    such as thisList[1][] = List1; thisList[2][] = List2[]; Thanks

for example i know i can do this, > Correct me if i
    am wrong
    List1 = List2; where List1 one now
contains all the elements that List2 has. There will be one array. Both the List1 and List2 reference variables will point to that same array.
(By the way, convention in Java is for variables to start with lowercase.)
    >
but is there a way i can
us the same format with a multie varible array, to
store all three list in it.
    such as thisList[1][] = List1; thisList[2][] =
    List2[];
You can do thisList[1] = List1 if thisList is an int[][] and List1 is an int[]. However, that will not copy any ints. It will just do the same as the above--cause the reference thisList[1] to point to the same array object as List1 does.
If you want to copy values from one array to another, use System.arraycopy.

Every laptop has "7 hours" on battery, I'm wondering if that's on 100% brightness while searching web or just doing nothing? How long is it on lowest or while using the notebook? Inform me with anything, thanks .

Upto 7 hours of wireless web.
