Question about Charging ZEN MP3 Pla

Hello, I just got a brand-new ZEN 4GB MP3 player. I have a question about charging it. Is the device done charging when the battery icon blinking in the top-right displays as full, or should I be waiting for some other indication (done charging message, etc.)?
Thanks,
Brett

The icon should be a full bar with a little plug in the middle when it's fully charged.

  • A few quick questions about my new MP3 pla

Ok, I like to get to know anything I buy so I decided to come here and ask, I hope you dont mind answering (My MP3 player is the MuVo c00):
) In the instruction manual it says that play WMA file reduce the battery life of your player. Since converting them reduces the size by a fair bit I was wondering if the reduced battery life was worth it and how much it reduces the battery life.
    2) When is a good time to replace the bettery in my player? Should I wait for it to completly die or what because I dont want to go replacing batteries 3 quarters full.
    3) Is there any sound or quality differences between MP3 format and WMA?
    4) Is the program that came with the player the best thing to add music with or would buying something else do the trick or even just copy and paste?
    5) Finally, how do you attach the neck strap? I dont see any place where it could go unless you have to attach it with the arm band on it.
Thanks for your help and I might have some more question but untill further notice this is all I have and again thaks for your time.

. You have to bear in mind this is for an equivalent MP3 e.g. a 28 kbit/s encoded WMA is going to use more power than a 28 kbit/s MP3. Normally WMAs are encoded at a lower rate anyway, hence will use less power. There are many factors that affect battery usage.
    2. Wait for it to go flat.
    3. Complex answer. In general WMA is used when you want more space and aren't so worried about quality, at the 64 - 28 kbit/s range. MP3s (using the LAME encoder) are better at the higher bit-rates of 92 kbit/s. The bottom line is try a few different bit-rates for both MP3 and WMA, take a listen, and decide for yourself.
    4. With the MuVo it's very easy, just use Windows Explorer to copy files. I wouldn't buy any other software, unless you find something you really like to create MP3/WMA files.
    5. Not sure on this one...

  • Questions about Creative Zen MP3 Players.....which one to b

I had a Rio Carbon 6GB and I really love it (until it died on me), and I heard that Creative Zen 8GB, Creative Zen Micro 8 GB, Creative Zen V Plus?8GB are good choices to buy? I have readed all reviews from PC World, CNET, MSN, and all three sound good, but what are main differences between them that I need take in to consideration before I buy? I also I have read that you can replace the battery in all of them....is this true? What is the battery life before it needs to be replaced and how much? Thanks

If you listen to a lot of audiobooks, then I personally recommend the Zen V Plus 2, 4 or 8 GB. It doesn't have a user replaceable battery.
The battery is is built into the player. The audiobooks and albums seem much easier to find and use than on the Zen Micro. You can find these players on the Creative Savings Center refurbished for about half the price of a new player. (The Zen Micro, you can find on eBay used The refurbished Zen V Plus Players I have received when ordering, have been brand new and work just fine. They have a 90 day parts/labor warranty. I consider the 2GB Zen V Plus to be a throw-away(when or if it breaks after the warranty) at $35.99 plus shipping.

hi, i just have a few questions about the creative zen vision m
) what transmitter should i by if i want to listen to my music through the radio?
2)can the creative zen vision m play music videos and home videos?
3)can anyone suggest any completey safe music stores i can use to get my music.(last time i downloded a music place to get my music from called share it almost destoyed my comp.
    4) if not would i be able to burn my songs from itunes and use the c.d. to put them on my creative?
thank you so much i'v looked all over the internet and i could't hide any answers.

. There are MANY transmitters out there. I recommend searching back for past threads with recommendations.
    2. Yes, if they are in a suitable format.
    3. I already gave you a link in a previous question to a thread all about this. Please don't post duplicate questions.
    4. With iTunes you either need to burn the tracks to a CDRW, then convert to MP3/WMA, or use a program like JHymn to convert (Google JHymn).

  • Can someone answer these lovely question about the Zen Vision: M plz

I know we don't know much yet, so from what what we know, can someone answer me?
    Or can a mod?
. Will it have the same crap firmware in every Zen mp3 player (Sorry to call it that, but it's my personal opinion)? The main reason I changed to an Ipod was the firmware of the Zen Xtra :\. I loved it, loved the sound quality, but then... I have no need for file manipulation on the mp3 player itself, and it presented a problem. All that added crap made you click 6 times just to play one song!
And then you had to add an album to your playlist to get it to play...
After awhile, it drove me nuts... I wanted something simple, I just wanted to play my music, not shuffle thru a bunch of crap to get there!, and went for an Ipod.
I dunno... one of the reasons I'm liking the look of this is that it copies the Ipod firmware. It seems Creative now knows what it's doing... Or does it's Is the copied part only the front, and I would have to click 6 times to play one song? I must know.
    2. Will it have all the extras of an Ipod, games, contacts, calender, notes, etc? FM radio is a plus.
    3. What is the sound quality on this one?
    4. Will this one... have a headphone jack problem while I own it's Don't take this last question seriously... Or do :X

Actually seeing as Creative's firmware came first it would seem Apple copied Creative. The iPod firmware and library manipulation is very similar to the Creative players, having played briefly with an iPod.
Also you talked before about the difficulty with queuing a track, but couldn't describe a better system. Can you explain how the iPod makes it easier? I don't see any way Creative can make it quicker. You need to access the album/artist, then press the play button. Job done.
    2. Will it have all the extras of an Ipod, games, contacts, calender, notes, etc? FM radio is a plus.
I doubt games and notes, we've never had anything like this to-date.
A Mod or owner can tell you for sure of course.
    3. What is the sound quality on this one?
SnR is allegedly 97dB. Of course the subjecti've sound quality is one for the users to debate when there are shipping and several folks here at least have one. I doubt a Mod can tell you anything different.
    4. Will this one... have a headphone jack problem while I own it's Don't take this last question seriously... Or do :X
If Creative haven't learned their lesson from the Micro and Xtra, well...

  • A few questions about the Zen Mi

I'm looking into the Zen Micro 5GB, and I have a few questions that I couldn't find on the sight or aren't completely sure of. Sorry if I'm just blind and didn't see them, but I figured you guys could help.
) How do you charge the battery? I'm assuming its with some sort of adapter, and if so, is it included with the player?
    2) It says Windows 98SE is compatible, so does this mean regular Windows 98 won't work at all? I'm currently using W98 but will probably be upgrading soon so it chouldn't be too much of a problem, but if W98 is supported I could order it sooner.
    3) Will it work in tandem with a cassette adapter for a car? A cassette adapter isn't on the accessories page, but will one I already own work just fine?
Those are all I can think of right now, thanks in advance for your help, and feel free to leave any comments about the player that any of you have.

the headphone jack problem is not really fixed. If you rather not have it happen to early, i would suggest you take really good care of your ZM's headphone jack. Just take good care of it. But the headphone jack problem may occur at any point, i dunno why. it is very strange, some owners are lucky that the problem will occur in 6-2 months or maybe not at all for now. There are some owners that are unlucky that the problem may occurred like 2 weeks to couople months. I am currently trying to take really good care of my ZM after all the great lessons i learned from my previous mp3 players.
the headphone jack problem isn't fix, so be cautious a bit.

  • Just 5 questions about the Zen Micro Ph

HiJust 5 Q's about that player which i hope i get clear answers 4 'emcan i buy the charger designed for the original Zen Micro 2 be used with this player? if not, is there an additional charger i can buy ?2) How much time it takes the player 2 charge from the USB port and how much does it take in case of using a charger?3) Can i simply plug the player in my PC's USB and boot up windows XP 2 see the player simply as an additional dri've without the need of any special drivers or programs so that i transfer files between my PC and the player with simple drag and dropping4) Can i transfer non-media files (books - programs...etc) using the same method in question 3 without having 2 set up first a dedicated space on the player 4 receiving such files (<--- This is the way which has 2 be done with the old Zen Micros)5) Any dedicated volume control on it yet or it still misses it like old Zen Micros ?THANKS A LOT

Hi Catherina - thx 4 the reply but yr answer implies that the old Zen Micro can be seen in windows explorer directly as an additonal dri've and this contradicts all the reviews i have read about that in order to transfer non-media files to the player, i have 2 either use the bundled program "Zen Media Explorer" or the firmware itself (in case i am not allowed 2 install software on some computer i wanna transfer files from or to) but i was speaking about plugging the player simply in the USB to be detected by XP, assigned to it a dri've letter and then i can start copying files from/to it right away without any additional extra software installed or anything i must configure on the player itself. IMHO, this is how the MP3 players should behave 4 extra simplicity and ease of use
SUGGESTION: can u plz make video clips showing how 2 use the player in all aspects. I have seen that with the iri'ver players where some people (i am not sure if those people are the guys @ iri'ver themselves or just some fans) have posted numerous video clips showing the iri'ver player in all aspects so the end user like me feel like he is using the player in his hands even if he/she hasn't purchased it yet - something that will be very effecti've on people's decision purchase. Wish to see video clips showing all aspects of the Zen Micro player and may be other players
Here is the site i was talking about: www.misticri'ver.net

  • A few questions about my zen micro

    Hi!
Just a few things - firstly, my zen battery runs out INCREDIBLY quickly. I leave it to charge until full, use it for 5 mins or so and then turn it off and leave it. A few days later, when i turn it on, it has one bar of battery left! Does anyone know whats happening? This is the second battery i bought, in case of a battery fault but theyre both the same!
Also- do any of you know any safe MP3 sites which are pretty cheap and easy to use?
    Thanks a lot,
    Charlee

Welcome to the forums! Please read the FAQ at the top. It has links to solve your problem.
Simply, upgrade to the newest firmware. The micros battery drains while not in use, and the newest firmware reduces the battery drain time.
Also- do any of you know any safe MP3 sites which are pretty cheap and easy to use?
Take a look around... do a google search. I cant specify anything other than legal ones such as Yahoo, Napster, etc.

  • Ok. quick and easy question about my Zen Vision

i'm thinking that my zen can no longer have anything added to it, although there is about 5 gbs worth of space left. it sucks has sucked for a while, but i'm trying to get over it.
my brother noticed that in the bottom of it, the part where it connects so you can make transfers and stuff, is bent. i tried unbending it but that didn't work.
and when i connect it to my comp, it says "overload" and my comp freezes for a bit.
so that's a sign to get another mp3 player right? it's a shame that this happened. he thinks i was too rough with it.
i admit that i have spent some time pushing it in when it wasn't properly fitting. but i didn't "see" it then. now looking back, i kinda laugh.
btw, there are no shops around here to repair the bend to the best of my knowledge..actually, maybe Weiss Hardware...just maybe.

Yes. LOL You word it so much nicer!
    lol...
if customer support actually does help, for a nice price, you will be -my new saviour-!
(My music is literally my life.)
OK. I checked there. They have an option of support (while the warranty is still good) and another option (that's non-technical).
I got my first Zen Vision (30 GB) March 2007. Then a replacement (this one) in May 2007. Is it still covered? I have my doubts. :P?

  • Question about Creative Zen Xtra (60 G

Hey guys, I am seriously considering buying a Creative Zen Xtra, but I had one question: Does the Xtra play Mp3 VBR's? I have a lot of these, and I want to make sure they are compatible. Thanks, cya.

Yes, all Creative's players play VBR files.

  • Some questions about the zen visio

Hi everyone ! Im from spain and I have just bought the player one week ago. I have just two questions. The first is if it is possible to connect the player to the computer and the wall socket at the same time (because its really slow charging by usb) and if it does not damge the player. The second question is about the rating system, I find it really interesting but I miss I can do something with it ! I mean there should be another one inside DJ mode to play songs with 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars, 4 or more stars, etc... That would be really fantastic !! And also is it possible to manage the ratings with teh creative media source organizer? I suppose that no because I didn?t find the option... Ok that's all thank you for your help, and what a great player !!
    Pedro

You can connect to a home stereo using a stereo miniplug (your headphone connector) to RCA adapter. these are available at any electronics store. you plug the 2 rca plugs into an auxiliary input on your receicver. to play in your car, you can use an fm transmitter. check out my post on accessories, it talks about one i didnt like and the one i replaced it with...
    http://forums.creative.com/creativel...essage.id=2079
there is nothing special about ipods, they cant do anything that a creative player cant. in fact, some would argue that creative's do more! but connectivity to any type of stereo system is uni'versal

  • I have some questions about the Zen Mic

I was wondering if the Creative Zen Micro has some of the same capabilities of the Apple Ipod. A lot of my friends have Ipods' and I know from them that you can actually plug the Ipod into a stereo and it will play songs. Can the Zen Micro do that? do you know of any connections needed? Also, i know the Ipod can get a connection which allows it to tune into blank radio stations. With this a person can get onto the same radio station through the Mp3 player and play their music, which allows them to play their Mp3 player in their cars or again on a stereo. Is there any way I can play my Zen Micro in my car without getting sperate speakers? Please help!
    Thank you

  • Many questions about the Zen Xtra 30

I have 4 questions: . Do you have to use EAX to have your songs play at the same sound level?
I was reading somewhere(dont remember, I think the online product manual) and it said if you use the EAX technology, then your songs will all play at the same sound on the Zen, rather than depend on how the sound level was at when the song was recorded. I dont have the right sound card, so I cant use EAX.
    2. Does the Zen make any sounds when you push any of the buttons?
I plan on using this during study hall and i dont want some beep to get me caught.
    3. Can you delete songs off the Zen without loading them back onto a computer?
3.5 If you can delete a song without a computer, does the Zen recycle the space into free space?
4.Where do you get your music from online?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

.) The EAX function on the Xtra has an option to limit sound volume for all songs when enabled. I found this to be useful when listening late at night (so loud drum clashes aren't louder than everything else, for example)... I'm not sure I fully understand your question but I hope that answered it.
2.) It does not make any noise when clicking the buttons. It's pretty silent; you can only notice light "clicks" from button pushing if the room is completely silent and you listen very closely. The clicks from depressing the buttons surely won't disturb anyone around you, though.
    3.) Yes.
3.5.) When it's deleted, it's erased... so you'll have the amount of free space as if the song wasn't there in the first place.
4.) I have my methods... Mostly a technique of getting MP3's from my Real Rhapsody subscription, though

  • Questions about the Zen Mozaic

I've read in reviews this mp3 player has no dedicated volume control, but i read in a comment that led me to believe ther e might be possible to use the up/down or left/right buttons when playing music to control the volume. Is that correct?
Also I read you can use MSC mode but only in 2gb blocks, is it possible to just have it as big 8gb block? Also if it does use 2gb blocks does the player know to look across all the blocks when playing music?
[edited: added mozaic to post title]

Which Zen are you asking about? Is it this one http://us.outletstore.creative.com/Z...B00264U5CQ.htm? If so it has a SD card reader built in that you can load files to & can play them. I have a 6GB card that I use in mine.

  • Questions about the Zen TO

i am planning to buy the zen touch because its cheap and a good value, but however, the lack of accessories scares me a little. Will creative design a case especially for it, because its really not comfortable taking it out and putting it back in with the included case, creative needs to make a case that allows users to use the touch without taking it out. I heard creative is going to release a brand new firmware for the touch, i really think the folks at creative need to bring back the eax feature, the calendar just like the old zen xtra.
    Here are my questions though,
If i buy the fm wired remote for the touch, will that activate the eax function,
also is there any docks availible for the zen touch, i read somewhere that the belkin dock for dell dj is compatible with the touch, i just want to confirm with the creative staff that this is compatible so it doesnt destroy my touch when i buy it.
    Thanks for any replies,
    Sergey

    Spetznaz24,
The FM Wired Remote will not activate EAX on the Zen Touch. This has to be incorporated directly into the player and it is not at this time. I do not have any information on new cases however I will pass your case suggestion on. I also cannot guarantee anything about 3rd party adaptors made for other products.
