Question about Config Synchronisation on CSS

Hi All,
i had a great Configuration on 2 CSS 11503 and want to synchronize the configurations.
Now the customer asks which risk will be there.
Does anybody now problems with that Feature ??
Thx in advance for your support

config synch works with redundant-vip.
Just be aware that there are 2 type of redundancy available on the CSS
- box-to-box
- vip/interface redundancy
Each solution comes with its own synch script/command.
Make sure to use the appropriate one for your setup.
Gilles.

  • Basic questions about config backup/restore

I've searched around with limited success. I've just inherited the Ironport devices in our enviornment and need to perform an OS upgrade of our cluster. Prior to doing so, I want to backup each members config file. (also, I want to do this before doing any config changes)
If I back up each member's config to the device, how I can access/edit these config files so I can replaced the masked password fields with the actual passwords?
I'm aware of the unmasked/hashed password version of the file, but we'd like to avoid that if we can.

The config file itself is just a text/xml file and most good text editors (vi/textpad) will handle it easily.
Even when passwords are not masked, they are always encrypted. The only way to manually insert a password would be to encrypt it and put the result back in the config file.
As long as you are choosing strong passwords (hint) it is not at all an easy task to force decrypt the hashed password string. Even if you are completely paranoid, just store the config file somewhere in an encrypted format.
Bottom line: don't mess up your "backup" by manipulating it in a way that could render it useless just when you most need it. Manual editing of config files is tricky and AFAIK not officially supported in any way.

  • Question about when L3 sticky information is removed on CSS

    Hi everyone,
I have a question about L3 sticky on CSS.
I understand L3 sticky takes effect on the following situations,
    1: until expiring inactive timer
    2: until sticty table full
    and
3: until the connection disconnect by receiving RST or FIN from client or real server
The "3:" means that CSS maintains sticky connection between specific client IP address
to real server (L3 stickty) when CSS has its information on sticky table.
And CSS has removed it from sticky table if CSS receive RST or FIN even if the inactive timer
abot its connection has not expired.
That is, CSS removed L3 sticky information from sticky table when CSS receive
RST or FIN from client or real server even if inactive timer has not expired and
in this situation, the next new connection from same client IP address is processed with
normal load balancing, in the result, the new connection from same client IP address
    forwards other real server.
    Is my understanding correct ?
Or CSS maintains L3 sticky information on the sticky table until the situation meets
"1:" or "2:" even if CSS receive RST or FIN ?
    Your information would be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.
    Best Regards,

What point number 3 means is the layer 3 sticky will take effect when a connection disconnect message is received from a client or a real server. This connection disconnect is received in the form of RST or FIN messages from the real server or the client.

  • Question about the CSS behavior when using layer 3 sticky and sticky table

    Hi everyone,
I have a question about the CSS behavior when using layer 3 sticky and sticky table is full.
If I configure layer 3 sticky and specify the inactivity timeout as below, how does the CSS
handle subsequent needed sticky requests ?
    advanced-balance sticky-srcip
    sticky-inact-timeout 30
    CSS document says that
    Note:
If you use the sticky-inact-timeout command to specify the inactivity timeout
period on a sticky connection, when the sticky table becomes full and none of
the entries have expired from the sticky table, the CSS rejects subsequent
    needed sticky requests.
My question is what is the next reaction by doing the CSS if the CSS is in the
    following condition:
when the sticky table becomes full and none of the entries have expired from
the sticky table, the CSS rejects subsequent needed sticky requests
Does CSS just rejects/drops subsequent needed sticky requests ?
    or
Does CSS does not stick subsequence requests to particular service but CSS forward
subsequence requests with round-robin basis ? which means if the sticky table is full,
the CSS just works round-robin load balancing fashion for subsequence requests ?
    Your information would be appreciated.
    Best regards,

    Hello,
There is a good document explaining this on Cisco web site
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/contnetw/ps789/products_tech_note09186a0080094b4b.shtml
It depends if the sticky-inact-timeout is used or not. If not, it's FIFO (the oldest entry in the sticky table is removed). If yes, the CSS will reject the next sticky request.

  • I am using Aurora, but I can't find out how to ask a question for it and not firefox. My real question is how to reach the about: config page in Aurora.

For some reason, Mozilla Support has no section for me to ask a question about Mozilla Aurora. I need to know how to reach the about: config page in Aurora and no one has apparently asked this question before. Someone please help me on this issue because no one seems to know

Note that your System Details List shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts.
The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: Open with) if you didn't create this file yourself.
The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.

  • I want to ask the question about phasor measurement.

I want to ask the question about phasor measurement.the first one is that how can I accomplish the sychronized sampling with GPS?The other question is that how can I adjust the sampling rate for DAQ when the system frequency alter continuously.(if I used the DFT,due to the altering of frequency,I can't get the completed waveform)"

Synchronising DAQ with GPS depends on the DAQ sampling rate. If the rate is higher than 2 Hz you can sample the 1PPS pulse of your GPS receiver together with your data.
You change the sampling rate with the AI Clock Config.vi. You cannot do this on the fly so you must stop DAQ with AI Control.vi reconfigure the sampling rate and then start it again.

  • How do I disable "Exceptions" button for "Block pop-up windows" in Content tab?. I am able to Disable other Exception buttons in this tab using about:config preference.

Need a way to disable "Exception" button for "Block Pop-up windows" in Tools-> Options -> Content tab. I want to be able to do this for Locking Down Firefox preferences.

That button doesn't have a pref associated with it, so you can't disable that button with a pref on the about:config page or a lockPref call.
That only leaves the choice to remove that button with code in userChrome.css

  • How can I set Firefox (in about:config?) to NEVER bother me with update notifications?

Welp, the question says it all. Or almost all of it. I DETEST the latest, MENU-LESS version of Firefox (and it DOESN'T help that, by standing on my head and spitting wooden nails in a particular direction, I CAN actually find everything contained in the old menus), and therefore I force-installed the previous version (28.0), but my problem is that I am still pestered with prompts that urge me to upgrade to version 29.0. I resent THE HELL OUT OF THAT! I resent ANYTHING NANNY-LIKE that is IN MY FACE!
So, I thought that by setting certain app.update parameters, I could be rid of that UPDATE SCOURGE - and in fact, it seems to have worked on my Linux-only desktop - but, alas, no, it is still there, still very much IN MY FACE on my dual-boot (openSUSE & Win7) desktop PC!
What, then, can I do to be rid of those update prompts? (Note that I am hoping that at some point in a not too distant future, Mozilla will offer, for each new version, a WUS and an I'M THE MAN variant, where the latter allows the user to steer the vehicle, as it were... if this never materializes, then at some point (when I deem Firefox 28.0 to be too unstable to use any longer), I will ditch Firefox in favor of an alternative that retains a semblance of the male's hobby-garage look (as oppose to HER slick, everything-hidden, kitchen-cabinet look!).
    Thanks!
I am running openSUSE 13.1 in dual-boot iwith Window 7, and it is only on the SUSE interface that I am having the problem (on Win7, earlier versions allow me to tick a 'don't install anything, ever' box via preferences, rather than having to seek a solution in about:config). Right now I am using Firefox 28.0, having force-downgraded from the latest version.

The Link I gave you above won't tweak Firefox but rather give you a brief overview on what's new in Firefox 29.
The link below will show you how to customize Firefox 29 to look like previous versions of Firefox before 29.
I also mentioned you can toggle some prefs in about:config to disable automatic updating
You can set these prefs in about:config to disable automatic updating:<br>
    app.update.auto - false<br>
    app.update.enabled - false<br>
    app.update.silent - false<br>

  • How do I display more icons on the New-Tab page? I tried about:config

The New-Tab page I see doesn't match what FF shows in help. I changed rows and columns and nothing changed.

    Hello,
With the latest Firefox update, the number of tiles is now determined on screen size - if you zoom out or expand the window you can have more tiles appear.
If you want to set a fixed number of tiles, you can do so with the following extension:
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-tools/
You can also see '''jscher2000''''s Chosen Solution here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1025414
It requires the [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/stylish/ Stylish] add-on but will automatically shrink the tiles on the page and will limit the tiles based on what you entered for your rows and columns in the '''about:config''' page:

  • How do I copy extensions, extension settings, and about:config preferences to a new profile (different Windows login or different computer)?

I have/had no trouble with Firefox at all. What I have is a new computer, with multiple users. I would like to use my relatively secure Firefox setup (i.e. NoScript with a LOT of configuration and site data stored, PrefBar and TabMix configuration, a bunch of custom settings in about:config) for all the user accounts on the new machine, but give users the option to change their settings afterwards (i.e. use the old profile to initialize all the new user profiles).
I understand why this is not recommended when one has Firefox issues and has to make a new profile. This is not the issue here.
I have the old profile (actually the entire Documents and Settings/<username> folder) backed up, but do not have a setup whereby I can run Firefox using this old profile.
    How do I do this?
PS the computer I'm posting this from is neither the old nor the new computer in question, so the "educated guesses" section is meaningless.

Never mind - I successfully brute-forced it in about half an hour. Renamed the profile folders and copied everything, emptied the cache, deleted the password store in all the accounts but mine, and fired up Firefox.
    Works great.

  • How do I change Default search engine in the address bar, not the search window on the top right or by using about:config, doesn't work. Worked fine until this FF 8.0 update, now defaults to Yahoo 7. About to throw it in and use Chrome.

When Firefox 8.0 installed it has automatically changed my address bar default search engine to Yahoo7 which is crap. I can not change this back. So when I start FF it opens to my google home page, when I type a subject and search the results are displayed in a Yahoo 7 results page, not google. I am not talking about my default home page or the search bar to the top right. This is still google.
The settings in about:config do nothing.
This was fine until FF 8.0.

    Thanks dmcritchie,
Nice effort but that answers a different question about fixing the add-on Yahoo toolbar.
Pernich and I want to know; If you type search criteria directly into the address bar and hit enter, how to change that search engine from Yahoo to Google.
Otherwise I too will go back to using Google Chrome, even though I really like FF8.0
    please help

  • I enter about.config in my address bar and a page from SearchAssist - Landing appears with this message: "As a courtesy, your ISP provided this page because "about.config" does not exist or is unavailable." How can I reach about.config?

Details in original question above - maybe that's why response was that this question had not been asked before. I use very slow dial-up (DSL not available in my area) and I have a lot of computer problems as a result. So I'm not sure if this is because of my computer or if the page really is no longer available. Last time I reinstalled the OS I was able to access it and make changes (May 13-14). I need to reinstall the OS again but, if I can't access about.config, I won't be able to get the computer back to working the way I want (status bar at bottom of screen, etc.). Is there some other way I can try to access the about.config page?
