Question about crs boot start

hallo,
is there a way to check if CRS will start on reboots?
I mean is there a way to check if the command crsctl disable crs have been issued?
(of course without rebooting the server)
Thx

Hi ,
I have found a post
that explains how the command
crsctl enable crs
writes ENABLE in
/etc/oracle/scls_scr/HOSTNAME/root/crsstart
and same happens for DISABLE.
Anyway, does anyne know what the meaning of the other files cssnorun, crsdboot, nooprocd, cssrun, noclsmon in that directory?
I have got no info about that..
Thx

  • Question about "Power On Start Test"

Hi... I have owned TWO MacBook Pro's, one built back in 2006 and a newer one built in 2009 (both 17 inch)... On either one of them, on say about every 20th or so "pressing of the power key" to start the machine, rather than hearing the mac startup chime and see the screen light up within a few seconds, instead there is no chime and the screen stays black for a long time, maybe up to 30 seconds... Then the chime sounds and the screen comes to life.
If it's quiet in the room when this event (or non-event) happens I can usually hear the quiet sounds you hear when the machine is starting, a bit of clicking and perhaps the sound of the hard drive starting up (??, never been sure what those sounds are other than to say they are "normal"). But you don't hear the chime and nor does the screen light up until some time significantly later...
It's been my belief though not my knowledge that when this happens, again maybe one in every 20 or so starts, that it is the Power on Start Test that is, for some reason, not completing quickly but instead taking some time for whatever reason... If I'm patient, eventually, like in maybe up to 30 seconds, I then hear the chime and away it goes...
Again, this occurs on not one but two different MacBook Pro's and it's done it on both of them at what I would guess would be this same 5% rate since both were new... And over all versions of operating systems that those two machines have seen... So it does NOT appear to be anything tied to something faulty in the individual computer unless I just go so unlucky as to buy two machines 3 years apart that both came with the same problem (unlikely)... I also have an older G4 desktop at home and I have a G5 desktop at work... I've never noticed this on either of those machines so this would perhaps appear to be laptop related????
But as I peruse around and look for other folks who describe such an issue, I don't find much... So, I decided to post this question...
Can anyone offer insight into what might be going on??? Is it a problem??? Might it be hardware, software, what??? Any feedback would be much appreciated...
    thanks... bob..

  • Microsoft Windows (7) boot from (native) VHD : Question about missing boot (flag) on active primary partition

    Hi!
First, where can I post queries about native VHDs on Windows 7?
I see VHD Native Boot and Driver Cloning  in Windows Desktop Development forums >  General
    Windows Desktop Development Issues,
    (when I navigate there the option's N/A, http://i.imgur.com/9Vj7tPJ.png )
I've finally copied my VHD(s), and tested the copies by adding BCD(edit) entries, pointing to the new VHD's.
I had a failure with a native VHD. I managed to copy the VHD file from the (internal) HD, before cleaning the HD and restarting from scratch (new vdisk created and attached, win7 reinstalled).
The original VHD ('Win7VHD') is still working, but won't boot (see mounted Disk 3 (I:), compared to the active,
    bootable partition (C:).

Before creating a fresh install on the new, clean "VHD (Win7)" volume, I tried lots of things to fix the "won't boot" issue with the VHD (rebuild MFT, fixBR... without ever knowing exactly what I was doing :()
So I've created a BCD entry for the recovered VHD... now, can I make it bootable again?
(I don't know what the root of the bootable VHD has to contain)

  • TOP questions about Software Updates - start here

How do I update the software of my Nokia device?
You can update the software of most Nokia devices by downloading the software directly to your phone, or by using Nokia Software Updater, Nokia's free PC software.
Learn how and find out which methods are available for your device at
    http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/update-your-phone/
How do I know when there is new software available for my Nokia device?
There are several ways to be notified about new sw versions for each Nokia device:
    1) Use Nokia Suite
Whenever you connect your device to the latest version of Nokia Suite with a compatible USB cable, Nokia Suite will check if there is an update for your device. Note that this notification only works when you use a USB cable connection.
    2) Check online
You can easily check the latest available version on the
    Nokia Software Update website.
Currently Nokia does not publish the expected release dates for future software versions.
What has been updated in each new software version?
Main updates are published on the
    Nokia Software Update website.
Here are some of the most common questions from the Nokia Software Update FAQ:
Why has my device changed language after updating?
After an update, your Nokia device may restart in its native language. Changing back to your preferred language can be done from the phone settings. Full instructions may vary depending on the phone model, if you need help you can download the full user guide for your phone from the support pages of your country's Nokia web site - visit www.nokia.com/support for more details.
If your Nokia device was originally manufactured for use in another country or region, using Nokia Software Updater may revert the set of available device languages to the original language set.
If your preferred language is no longer available after using Nokia Software Updater, you may need to return your Nokia device to a Nokia Care point to have this language reinstated.
Other people can update their software but I cannot, although we have the same Nokia device model. What's wrong?
Update availability is based on many things, including existing Nokia device firmware version, country, and operator. It may be due to one of these variables that your Nokia device isn't eligible for updates.
Please note that your mobile service provider, operator, or carrier may not have approved the latest Nokia device firmware available.
Nokia produces many different variants of each product (for different countries and languages) and not all variants have the latest Nokia device firmware. It is our priority to update all variants as quickly as possible, and we apologise for any delay. New software may become available at a later date, however, so please check again soon.
Why doesn’t Nokia Suite detect my device?
Sometimes the drivers for your Nokia device and associated connectivity cables can become corrupted.
To resolve this, uninstall and re-install Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Software Updater:
    - In your PC’s Control Panel, go to Add/Remove programs
    - Uninstall Nokia Suite (if there are more than one entries uninstall all of them)
    - Go to www.nokia.com/support to download and install the latest version of Nokia Suite
I am not able to use Nokia Suite on any PC and my device does not support updates directly over the air. Is there an alternative way to update my device's software?
If you are not able to use Nokia Software Updater, you can visit your nearest authorized Nokia Care Point to have your software updated. Note that this may incur a charge. Locations for Nokia Care Points globally are available at the support page for your country, for details please visit http://www.nokia.com/global/support/locations/

  • Question about CRS PSU Patch.

    Hello all,
My customer is currently RAC 10.2.0.4.3 (i.e 10204 patchset + Database PSU Patch 9119284) and with 10.2.0.4 CRS
Currently due to a CRS Bug we recommended customer to apply CRS PSU 10.2.0.4.4 i.e Patch 9294403
    Now the question is :
can the customer apply the CRS PSU 10.2.0.4.4 when he is with 10.2.0.4.3 RDBMS PSU ?
(NOTE: CRS PSU should be applied to both CRS_HOME and RDBMS_HOME)
I do see that RDBMS PSU 10.2.0.4.5(9654991) is available and the goal is to minmize the issues.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
For 10.2 RDBMS/ASM home, you normally apply CRS PSU and DB PSU. It does not matter which is greater as you are on the same release like 10.2.0.4.
So if you have CRS PSU 10.2.0.4.4 and DB PSU 10.2.0.4.5, this is fine as both patchset(s) are on 10.2.0.4.
It is better to apply the same CRS PSU on both CRS and RDBMS/ASM homes.
    Hope this clears every thing.

  • P35 Neo Questions about USB boot speed

    Hi all,
I setup a MSI P35 neo2 system over the past month and I am having one issue that is SLOWING me down..
When booting from any USB stick in any USB port it seems like the mobo is using USB1 or USB1.1.  So my PE 2.0 takes about 15 minutes to boot.  I have searched the forums and net over and over and found nothing.  Tried disabling USB Legacy support, which only makes the bios not recognize the USB stick.  I have 3 bootable vista pe USB sticks and I boot 10 different dell models, NF4 and the Abit.  They all boot at USB2 speeds (less than 1 min).  I checked all the ports in windows with everest and sandrasoft, all seem to work fine in windows, but booting is still slow.  Is there some secret menu to turn on usb 2.0 only in the bios?  My Abit P35 system has no problems like this, but I really like the MSI!
    TIA

  • ANother question about installing Boot Camp Drivers

Recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. Have not used boot camp yet, but when I do, when it comes time to install the drivers, should I use the disc that came with my computer (older system version) or use the Snow leopard disc?
I would assume the SL disc, but I just didn't know if the disc that came with the computer might contain drivers that the SL disc might not.
    Thanks again.

    Hi,
the SL DVD is my choice to go, since it contains the newer 3.0 versions of the Apple BootCamp Drivers.
If the DVD that came with your Mac is a Leopard disc than it contains the older 2.0 or 2.1 drivers (depending on when you bought your Mac).
If your Mac came with OSX Tiger, than there aren't even any BootCamp Drivers on the DVD.

  • P35 Neo Questions about USB boot speed (New query)

i see it's an old topic but i have the same problem with slow USB Boot on a MSI P35 Neo2-FR mainboard.
i have tried something like 5 different USB drives and all are the same. the problem is when it's tring to boot from USB. there is some missing support for USB booting from BIOS , i don't know.
i had a BIOS from 2008 and i have updated to the latest version but nothing solved my problem.
i have tried to boot from USB with a linux live environment, windows live CD or i have tried to install windows from USB drive. all of them with very slow reading (instead of max 2-3 min loading time it takes almost 20-25min at least..).
when the system (windows) loads up the speed of reading the USB drives increse dramatically and all things gets back to normal.
with the same USB drive on several computers all the above works without any delay or very slow reading. so this i think it's the motherboard or the motherboard BIOS but i don't have a clue on how to fix this issue.
any help will be more than appreciated. thank you.

AngelTudorache please read the Forum Rules and don't resurrect nearly 4 year old threads.  >>Please read and comply with the Forum Rules.<<
Please post your full system specs >>Posting Guide<<
Do you use the case USB ports or the MB USB ports ? Have you tested the MB USB ports by disconnecting the case USB headers ?
Suggest you transfer a large file from the HDD to a USB device or from a USB device to the HDD and monitor the transfer speeds. Anything between 15 and 30mb/s is normal for USB2.

Hi I have a question about shooting in Raw with my Canon EOS 6d.
I'm in the process of learning photography and my goal was to start shooting in raw.
I have Photoshop CS5. When I tried to edit my images in raw I received an error message stating, "The photoshop camera raw plug-in did not recognize the format. If these files are from a camera, you may need to update your camera raw plug in."
In researching the issue I read that to edit in raw you need a camera model requirement of at least 7.3 which only works with CS6. My version of CS5 is 6.0.0.205. Being new to all this I see that my options are to upgrade to CS6 or convert by using DNG converter and paying a monthly fee. Two things I know nothing about and don't know which is would be more beneficial.
I'd appreciate any advise on which route to go and how upgrade and what it may cost. THANKS in advance!
    Heather

In researching the issue I read that to edit in raw you need a camera model requirement of at least 7.3 which only works with CS6.
That is correct. Your camera was first supported by Camera Raw 7.3. Camera Raw 7.3 will not work with CS5. You need CS6 or CC.
Being new to all this I see that my options are to upgrade to CS6 or convert by using DNG converter and paying a monthly fee. Two things I know nothing about and don't know which is would be more beneficial.
I'd appreciate any advise on which route to go and how upgrade and what it may cost.
It all depends on your preferred workflow and your budget.
Using the DNG converter is free. There is no monthly fee. You use the converter to convert all Raw files from the EOS 6D to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS5. That's an extra step every time - every photo. Some people don't like the extra step. Others don't mind.
Camera raw, DNG | Adobe Photoshop CC
Or you can upgrade to CS6 (non-Cloud) and pay the upgrade fee
    Creative Suite 6
Or join the Cloud and pay the monthly fee
Or join the Photoshop Photography Program (US9.99/month) and get PS CC+LR

  • Question about Rescheduling Start Date of a Task

Question about Rescheduling Start Date of a Task
I'm trying to determine whether the 'Reschedule' action is appropriate to my situation...
I have a service that consists of 4 tasks.  The first 3 tasks will be completed immediately and then the request's 4th task will sit in a queue for about a month so that all of these requests can be grouped together and fulfilled during a few overnight work sessions.
While the 4th task is waiting to be fulfilled, the technician will be contacting the requestor to schedule the work to be done sometime during a 3 day window.  The technician needs to specify which of the 3 days each request will be worked on.  I'm not sure if I should store the date in a service form field or have the technician reschedule the task so that the start date of the task is set to one of the 3 days.  If I use the reschedule feature, are there any downsides?
The advantage of using the reschedule feature is that the scheduled start date can be displayed in ServiceManager's task list and can therefore be sorted on and queried.  This wouldn't be possible if I stored the date in a dictionary field on the service form.  In that case, I'd have to use custom reports to group the tasks by start date.
Please let me know your thoughts...
    Thanks,
    Scott

This strikes me as a very good use of this feature, since your need to to have the date for this task rescheduled/reflected in ServiceManager. This is the specific effect of using this feature.
For the benefit of others reading this post, remember: this rescheduled date will not change the due date for the service.

  • 2 questions about booting

    Question 1.
When starting / rebooting it takes a long time from when you press the power button / reboot to when the windows XP flag screen is displayed. The MSI flag screen is displayed for 25 - 30 seconds, then once it goes away it is another 25 - 30 seconds untill the HDD responds and the windows XP flag screen is displayed.
Is there a way to shorten all this? I would be happy if the MSi screen was only up for a few seconds. I have replaced the HDD in this system 3 times due to upgrades and 1 failure, this problem has always been present. In BIOS I have quick boot enabled and the HDD is listed as the only boot device. If it matters the BIOS version is 1.2 11.
    Question 2.
Since installation of the 60 gig HDD in my system yesterday and reinstallation of windows XP, my system hangs during booting if it is started after sitting over night / several hours. Durng a cold start, after the MSI flag screen it will prompt for me to put a boot disc in the floppy drive. If I then restart it and enter BIOS I find that the HDD has been removed from the boot list. When selecting the option to select boot devices only the CD ROM and floppy are listed, the HDD is not there. If I select disable for all 3 boot device choices and select yes to search for other boot device, it will start ok (after a minute wait). After this if I restart the PC and enter BIOS I will find that the HDD is now an option for a boot device. This problem only happens if the PC has been powered off for awhile, I can reboot all day and be ok.
If the answer to either of these 2 questions if to flash the BIOS can you please explain the proper way to do this. I have never done it and know it will cause problems if not done right

    tsonka:
I cannot explain the long time for the MSI flag screen in POST but the lag time after the machine looks at your HDD might be related to a timeout period specified in your boot.ini file. You can look at it by left-clicking on My Computer, then click properties, then click the Advanced tab. At the bottom of the next window there is a section called Startup and Recovery. Click Settings. At the top, under System Startup, you can see what timeout is set for the Time to display list of  operating systems. This can be reduced to 1 if you are booting from only one O.S. anyway.
This may or may not reduce some of the boot time. If you are not sure what you are doing, DO NOT click the edit button and try to edit the boot.ini file directly. You can click the edit button and look at the file. Under the [Operationg Systems] section the path "multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\windows="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" should have a " /fastdetect" at the end of the path.
    Hope this helps.

  • Question about Portege 2000 boot with Linux

    Hi everyone,
My Portege 2000 PIII 750MHz, 512 RAM, 20GB is simply driving me mad. I would like to try to install Linux, and have downloaded some distros to try it. The point is I am using an external CD/DVD reader, with a 16 bit pc card connector cable. Booting starts until the BIOS is involved, but when it gets to OS drivers being involved, booting hangs up, with every distro, except of course win XP, with which it installs perfectly fine.
Anybody got any suggestions on how to proceed? I really would like something lighter than WXP on my machine. Thx!

    Hi
I do not have this Portege but I know that Toshiba recovery image (WXP) contains driver for external ODD and the installation can be done without any problem.
Maybe you can find some useful tips under http://newsletter.toshiba-tro.de/main/index.html

  • Getting Started with CFBuilder - A Question About Project Settings

    Hello All,
I'm just getting my feet wet with CFBuilder and giving it a spin after over a decade's worth of experience with Dreamweaver and I have a question about setting up my work environment.
First of all, I have two computers that I mainly work from.  My home desktop computer, and a laptop for when I'm on the road.  I keep all of my web site project files syncronized between the two computers using Dropbox.
I've noticed that when I create a new project in CFBuilder it stores a few files in my project root like ".project" and "settings.xml".  It looks like "settings.xml" stores information about which CFBuilder web server should be used for the project.  Unfortunately this messes things up for me a bit because on my desktop a web site project url might be:  http://desktop/myProject/ and on my laptop the project url could be http://laptop/myProject.
The reason this isn't a problem in Dreamweaver is because dreamwevaer stores its configuration/preferences outside of my project folders so I can essentially define any testing server I want for both the desktop and laptop.
Is there a way to configure CFBuilder to store project settings outside of the project folder?  Or does anyone have a suggestion for someone like me who syncronizes their project files from their laptop to their desktop?
Thanks in advance for helping out a CFBuilder noob.

I would recommend using a distributed version control system (DVCS) with a hosted service, such as using Git/Mercurial and Github/BitBucket/UnFuddle.  With Git, you can use a .ignore file to specify files/folders that you want to exclude from being stored in version control (I also exclude my CFBuilder project files from my repositories).  You would then sync your local Git repositories with your service of choice, and they would be accessible from any machine.
There are many advantages of using Git and a hosted service over just Dropbox:
Each computer has a complete copy of the code repository, including all code changes over the history of your project.
You store code modifications in "commits", or small entries in the DVCS.
Commits can contain user-defined descriptions that help you identify what you did at each step of your development process
You can roll back commits if you break something in your code.
You can create "branches" of your code when you want to work on a specific feature of your application, and that branch is kept in isolation from other branches until you are ready to merge it back into the main production code branch.
You can have public or private hosted repositories on the various services, enabling you to work with a team or participate in open-source development.
There are Eclipse plugins available for CFBuilder that provide GUI tools for working with Git and hosted repositories (unless you are comfortable with using the command-line to do all your Git interactions).
I don't think you can separate the project settings from the project in CFBuilder.

  • A question about grub and USB

    Hi All
I have a quick question about grub and USB that I can't quite find the answer to by searching.   Most of the FAQs discuss booting a full linux dristribution from USB. My situation is this.  I am getting a new computer with two drives, the second will be arch and the first will be Vista (for my wife).  I want the computer to boot the same way that my wife's machine boots at work so I don't want to install grub on the MBR.  So, is there a way to have all of the grub config files and kernels installed on the second drive and simply install to grub boot loader to the MBR of a USB stick?  My goal would be to simply plug the USB stick into the new PC and boot arch from the second drive.
    Thanks
    Kev

    i cant say for hp's
havent worked on any in a while
recent machines have been coupleof dell's , vaio & emachine
which dells do offer it at least the ones i tried , my laptop does(dell)
all home pc's are built by me which do offer to boot individual drives
what hp you getting it may tell in specs
are both discs sata? if so it might not offer this option with 2 drives of same interface
check your power supply alot of these preconfigured machines put cheap under reated power supplies in there
    & will burn your motherboard i just replaced PS(250 watt) & mobo(845gvsr) in an emachines <cheap stuff<
i hope you researched the pc before buying ie : mobo, power supply are the biggest concerns
i find it much more benificial to build my own machine gives me peace at mind. the cost is sometimes more in $ but not always , your biggest expense is time researching hardware
if you live in usa the best places to start looking are bensbargains.net & pricewatch.com
i am not affiliated with either & niether sell the hardware they are just advertisers a place to buy
for costomized machines that i would trust is unitedmicro.com theyll asemble & test before shipping
i have gotten 2 machines so far from them with NO PROBLEMS with hardware (knock knock)
you may want to consider this in your next venture for pc

  • Switching from PC to Mac, have question about processing speed

Hi, I am going to buy a used Mac off of ebay and I am pretty clueless about where to start. I am not very knowledgable when it comes to the difference in processing speeds on pc's and apples both and have just been using what has been passed along. I am on a budget and cannot afford to do a bunch of upgrades when I get a new (to me) apple. I am currently working on a old pc (8 years?) that has had as many upgrades as it can handle. It is a Pentium III 548 mhz, 384 mb of ram and 40g hd on Windows XP. The Apple that I am stuck on getting right now is a G3 with a bunch of upgrades. It is an Imac PowerPC g3 with a 600mhz processor, 512 mb of memory, 120 gb hard drive. It has OS X 10.4 Tiger and ILife and has a single processor. It has a airport extreme card also. My question is 1) Does it take less mhz and ram to run the operating system for an apple and 2) am I going to notice a big difference in speed between what I have now and with the apple? The g3 is $249 and comes with a 90 day guarantee minus shipping. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!
    Tracy

I'd save your money or apply it to an Apple G4 (AGP or newer) tower. Depending on how it was configured, you may find that your PIII was a little faster loading web pages than the 600 MHz iMac. My 1 GHz P3s are faster than my iMac DV G3-400 MHz models. I think $249 plus shipping for a 5 or 6 year-old iMac is a bit high. I picked up one of my G3-400 MHz iMac DVs for $20 at a thrift store. If there are any in your area that accept donated computers, you might want to check for a local bargain. While the 600 MHz model that you described is loaded, that's about as far as it goes, other than bumping the memory to 1 GB, but that would likely involve removing a pair of 256 MB DIMMs already in it, and buying a pair of 512 MB DIMMs. If it has a single 512 MB DIMM installed, you wouldn't have to spend as much. Selling the computer with Tiger installed but without the OS installer media will eventually put you in a bind, when you'll need to boot from the installer CD to perform disk repair maintenance. Some may consider Tiger to be a bit demanding of that iMac's system resources, preferring the predecessor "Panther" instead. The bottom line is that the iMac is somewhat limited, in terms of design (no PCI slots) and/or future upgrade potential. If it will suit your needs as a starter Mac, try finding a comparable model for less. You might also check for used computer dealers in your area, as that saves the cost of shipping, and return shipping - if there's a problem. The G4 tower has more potential for hardware tweaking, if you decide to stick with the Mac OS. You can find G4 towers at eBay selling for less than $249, but you'd need to have a monitor. Is space at a premium, in terms of a preference for the iMac's compact form factor? There is a direct correlation between the OS version and the optimal processor speed and amount of installed memory to adequately run it. OS X needs/uses more memory than the older, pre-OS Mac versions, just as Vista or XP2 requires more memory than Windows Me or 98SE. A comparison of Intel's P3s to Apple's G3s or G4s gets into the debate over which one handles more instructions per clock cycle than the other at a given speed. It's difficult to do a head-to-head comparison, because the hardware and software is not the same.
