Question about CS4 system requirements

Hi!
I'm very interested to upgrade from Illustrator CS3 to CS4.
New features are very interesting.
But I have a question, on web site the system requirements are:
Windows
2GHz or faster processor + 512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
I have a notebook with:
mobile Intel® Centrino eith Intel® Pentium® M 740 - 1,73 GHz + 2GB of RAM
The problem is: before I buy it, Illustrator will works on my computer or not?
Thank you very much!

Most likely not. Centrinos are generally unsupported for a number of CS4 apps, and while Illustrator doesn't seem to use any specific functions that would make this a problem, you may find yourself unable to even install it properly. Of course you can alweays download the trial to find out...

  • Question about operating system

    Hello.
I just got lenovo T400. I have question about operating system. I choose OS (Windows XP Professional preinstalled through downgrade rights in Genuine Windows 7 Professional). When I get the laptop, Windows XP is preinstalled but I don’t know how to upgrade to Window 7. Please, tell me the way to upgrade.
    Have a nice day

you'd need the disks, and would need to do a fresh install, i.e. you can't just upgrade it. everything will be gone

  • Question about source system copy for BW

    Dear all,
I have a quick question about copying a source system for BW.
We have two clients in the source ERP:
    100 Customizing
    200 Testing
Our BW is only linked to client 200, so when we now delete client 200 and make a copy from 100 to 200, are we then still able to restore the source system connection so that our extraction will work, or will it fail, as in client 100 I have no BW related (except the cross-client-objects like datasource) information, that can be used for a possible restore of this connection.
What is the procedure in this case?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

Unfortunately, you will lose your source connection and need to create a new one in R/3.  You can use the same source system name in BW, but check the source system connection after the copy (SM59).  Also, I would "Restore" the source system (in BW, right-click on Source system in RSA1, and click "Restore") to insure the datasources get replicated from R/3 to BW.
Depending on how much you want your BW and R/3 systems to be in synch, you will need to rebuild all your data providers (cubes/ODS's) from your R/3 system.  This means deleting all the data and running the initializations from scratch.  At the very least, you will need to rebuild the delta queues.
Curious, if 100 is just for customizing, is there any data in it?  Are you just creating a new blank client 200?

  • Dreamweaver CS4 system requirements?

I'm a new owner of Dreamweaver CS4 who would like to install the program on my laptop. But in looking at the minimum system requirements, it says it needs "1,280x800 display with 16-bit video card." I've got the 16-bit card but maximum display resolution is just 1024 x 768. If I install it on this machine, will I just be doing a lot of scrolling? Or is my laptop literally unable to run the program because of its display resolution?
    Thanks for your help.

I haven't tried CS4 on a machine with 1024 x 768 resolution, but CS3 had the same minimum requirement, and it worked just fine. The main problem with a small resolution monitor is that the panels on the right overlap the Property inspector. However, with CS4, it shouldn't be a problem if you switch the panels to iconic mode.
As Mylenium says, you can always try it and deactivate the program on your laptop if it's not successful.

  • Some questions about iOS system framework, APNS and so on

    Hi everyone!
im quite interested in iPhone developement.by reading some dev books of iOS i can learn the general steps of creating an iPhone app. however, i cant find much of iPhone's system archetecture or framework information on the internet, so sometimes i was confused by the running process and principle of an app. so, im wondering cannnnnnn u guuuuuuuuuys doooooooo meeeee a little favor by answering the following questions and i appreciate that:
    1. can u recommend some articles or sites from which i can take a look at the system framework of iOS?
2.'backgrounder' is an application for jailbroken iPhone to run an app in the background, i.e. multitasking. do u know what's the principle of 'backgrounder'? can u offer some links that i can get more information of 'backgrounder'?
3,the function of Multitasking, as Apple mentioned in the release of iOS 4, brought another word 'APNS', i.e. apple push notification service. i googled APNS and learned that the servers are provided by Apple and perhaps the servers are located in the U.S. so im wondering, if im using PUSH message, does that mean each PUSH message gotta travel between my country and America twice? if it's true, its gotta cost a lot and there'll be huge delay! and since APNS are maintained by Apple, is it correct to say that Apple can read every PUSH message? and the last question, there're lotta companies providing PUSH messages, and is Apple able to handle all the PUSH flow? that's really great burden i think!
im a college student and an iPhone rookie, and people around me dont know too much about Apple and iPhone, so i have to ask professionals like u for help. ur reply can really help me a lot and im looking for ur reply eagerly. sorry for my poor english and THX a million.

  • Questions about "Restore System From Time Machine"

Looking to fix an apparent system corruption problem on my work machine, I discovered the "Utilities > Restore System From Time Machine" option of the Leopard installation disc. I have some questions that are not answered in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1177:
    1. Does this option erase the hard drive and install a fresh system from DVD, or do I need to do that in a separate step?
    2. What about software updates - when are they applied?
    3. Will third-party system extensions be reinstalled OK?
    4. I tried launching the process on my home machine, just to see how it works. At work I have a dedicated disk for Time Machine, but at home I have a Time Capsule, serving two Macs via Ethernet. I've also configured the TC to give us a shared volume; so in normal operation I have two network volumes, <Username>, containing Time Machine's sparsebundle file for that user's Mac, and "Shared". When I boot from the installation DVD and run "Utilities > Restore System From Time Machine", the backup volume list only shows the "Shared" volume. If I select it, I'm prompted for my TC username and password; I enter it, TC spins up, and then nothing. I cannot continue the restoration process, and reselecting the "Shared" volume does nothing. ???
Thanks in advance for your help.
    -- Phil

For the record, here's what I've found out so far:
    1. The "Restore System From Time Machine" option seems to want to restore everything, including the system, from the Time Machine backup. I wanted a clean system install, so I did an "Erase & install" followed by a "Restore from Time Machine" in the Migration Assistant. That got me most, but not all, of my settings back; exceptions include the printer configurations, the desktop picture, and the Dock settings.
    2. Software updates can be applied after the new system is rebooted.
    3. Most 3rd party extensions seem to have been restored OK, but some (like MacFuse) were not.
    4. I'd still be grateful for any hints concerning how to get "Restore from Time Machine" to work with a Time Capsule.

  • Question about heat & system fan ? with Corecenter software?

    hello guys,
i am having some strange experience well i just happened to clean my CPU well just external clean with cloth well then when i started i heard sound of some sort it turned out to be a plastic piece with the fan anyway i just did not do anything else well recently my CPU is very running cool i mean does System temeperature goes high will my CPU fan go high too i mean i dont' get a reading for my System fan speed in corecenter why ? can i do something about it please tell me. ? should i check the inside of my CPU well i am no expert but i am still ameteure well what do you say

I don't think CoreCenter uses the system temperature to control fan speed.
Is your cpu fan still working? When you say a plastic piece is broken, do you mean a fan blade? If so you should replace the fan.

  • Question about AAS System 9

Well finally I resolve the problem with my partitions between different servers, we put all the applications in only one server but we see that if you add too much analytic services servers on the AAS we have the same problem with the "ERROR 1056550: Unsolved hostname" , so we remove the other analytic servers from our AAS fro create the partitions, so I question myself if there's some configuration parameter of the AAS or Analytic Services that I need to configure to don't have the same problem and if I can add my other Analytic Server to my AAS without have the same problem and get the same ERROR, Anybody knows something about it?? Any help will be appreciated. Thank's in advance.

Here is part of an entry that I posted in my blog about almost two years ago that might help
    http://glennschwartzbergs-essbase-blog.blogspot.com/2008/08/partitions.html
The other day I ran into a problem that I never expected. I built a partition and every time I saved it, it showed as orphaned. Interestingly enough, it still worked, don’t know why, but it did. After trying different things to fix it, different ID, using MaxL to define it, trying it on different cubes, simplifying it, etc, I had to go to support for an answer. They gave an answer that I didn’t expect. I had to change the Essbase server names from friendly network names to the IP addresses. Seems it had problems understanding the friendly name.

  • Question about OO Systems

I've been wondering this for a while now.
I had to design and build a software system for college as a project and i was going to design the classes attributes methods etc. but then i realized i would need a database to store the information and i could simply build an application on top of the database and query, update and store any information that was needed. I simply could not see any need for using OO design. I asked my lecturer about it and he agreed with me so that didn't help!
Can anyone tell me why we need to organize data in objects when we already have a relational database system?
Cause i really don't get it.

I would say that the conclusion in the above is false.
Object type databases have been around for a long time and they are used very seldom. So seldom that it is effectively zero.
And certainly nothing that I have seen would suggest that object query languages are going to pervade the market in an significant way.
This is in constrast to relatively recent idioms that have in fact have made extensive impact on the industry such as Java, C#, XML, Agile, functional programming (and additions to existing languages to support it). The first four came into existence after object type databases and the last has been gaining interest over time.
At best learning about object type databases is more of curiosity than anything else. Learning assembly is probably more useful even though using it is as likely (for most industries.)

  • Question about ALTER SYSTEM ARCHIVE LOG START

    Good morning,
I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to get my database to be in archive log mode.
These are the steps I followed:

    Database closed.
    Database dismounted.
    ORACLE instance shut down.
    SQL> startup mount;
    ORACLE instance started.

    log_archive_start                    boolean     FALSE
SQL>I've gone thru that process twice but, I don't seem to be able to get the ARCH process to start. (newbie mistake I'm sure...)
Thank you for your help (again!),
    John.

The parameter log_archive_start is no more needed John (as suggested already) and the best way to check the archive options is through the archive log list command.

  • Question About Backing Systems Up

    Hi All,
We are running several workstations with 10.3.9 on a Windows 2003 server network, and I am curious to know if there is any way to back up each system to the Win 2003 server so that we can recover if there ever are any problems?
We are using Retrospect on the Win 2003 server with daily backups.
Any help would be greatly appreicated,
    David

If you only want to back up the contents of user home folders, you can do this safely by using the Disk Utility to create a new device image in the /Users/Shared/ folder large enough to store the files. Next, drag the files you want to back up onto the mounted device image and copy the .dmg file to the Windows server. From here, each .dmg can be treated as if it was a normal Windows file. It can also be compressed on the Mac if you want to save space on the server.

  • Question about transport system configure

I have two system dev & prd,  the prd is domain controller, the router is from dev to prd.
I want to delete all transport configure and reconfigure it.   Now I login to prd 000, and delete dev from transport system, and use se06 to initial the stms,  then I go to stms, the configure has been initialized.
But when I login dev000,  the two systems configuration and the transport router is still exist in stms and I can not use se06 to inital it.   I am sure that in prd 000, the configuration has been deleted succussfully.
the configuration is still exists in dev000, and I can not do any operation from dev000 which is not domain controller, and the real control prd000 has been delete by me.
I try to use se06 , but after reinstall cts,  I can still see the configuration in stms.
Could you give some solutions , Is there any problem with my operation?
    thanks a lot.

    Hello Victor,
you said PRD is the domain controller and successfully you
deleted previous configuration in PRD ,now login into DEV and
in the same delete the cofiguration in DEV too.when everything
is cleared you start from the first and start adding DEV to the
    domain PRD.hope this helps.

  • Question about operating system reinstall on Portege R500

I have purchased the R500 64SSD version, and for some reason it never struck me to check if there was a DVD drive on it.
    That was rather embarassing.
I know it is easy to purchase an external drve to copy software etc on to the Portege, so that isnt so bad.
However, I am considering a re-install, possibly to XP, but maybe just to reduce the repulsive amount of bloatware i got on my machine when i switched it on.
Now to the crux of the matter: if i use an external USB disk drive, i need USB drivers. If i delete the OS, that will delete the drivers.
So, finally, my question is: How in the name of Hell is anyone supposed to put a fresh install into an R500?
    Thanks for your patience.

I understand everything till the point with the bloatware.
But what I dont understand is: what do you want with a USB disk drive? I hope you dont mean a USB-HDD (its a little bit confusing). ;)
Usually you can use all drives without the need of some drivers because the machine offers you the option to boot from a USB device after powering the machine up and see the Toshiba logo pass...
You must only press F12 and choose the option to boot from an external USB CD/DVD drive. Thats all.
