Question about CS5

I have a computer and I use it for work, editing, using premiere cs3. I'd like to know, if upgrading, for CS5, it will cause problems, how to catch the video at the time of issue .. follows the description of the computer:
windows 7 home premium
Intel Core 2 Duo
2 gb RAM
Video Card Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
Video Memory 384 MB

BTW, don't forget that PR CS4 is included in the CS5 suite. I upgraded to CS4 from CS3 at the perfect moment to get CS5 included. I finally installed CS4 to test an idea, and find that it runs about the same (for SD only material of course) as my even-more-underpowered-than-your-laptop does with CS3.

My laptop was stolen earlier this month, i have a two part question, I still have the original dvds for Photoshop and Indesign the new laptop has Windows 8. I've heard CS5 versions will work on Windows 8? the other part of the question is what do I have to do to get Photoshop to work on my new laptop I used both my codes up on the laptop and that of my partner? I have a police report to verify this is true.

Contact support by phone or web chat to reset activations/ get a new serial and have the old one blacklisted. The rest is one of those "maybe" things. On a general level CS5 should work on Win 8, but there may be minor issues requiring some tweaking.

Question about CS5 Upgrade from CS3

Hi everyone,
I have Adobe CS3 and want to upgrade to CS5. I noticed Staples are selling the CS5 upgrade version for a decent price.
But it doesn't state if it's for CS4 or CS3/CS2. I contacted them, but they said they are both the same.... but I don't know if I can believe them.
Is the upgrade version for CS4 and CS3/CS2 the same thing in retail outlets? (i.e. you can enter in a CS4, CS3, and CS2 serial number for the same disc or is there separate products for each previous version - i.e. CS4 upgrade is different than a CS3 upgrade?)
I noticed when you buy it from the Adobe Store or even other sites like Newegg, they are marked as 'CS4 Upgrade' and 'CS3/CS2 Upgrade'... but on Staples its only 'Upgrade' and they told me it 'probably works for CS3 as well'.

The upgrades are different in that they require different serial numbers for the upgrade. I don't believe you can use the CS 4 upgrade if you only have CS3. Call Customer Service to get an official response.

Questions About CS5 Premiere, Media Encoder, and Encore

I've just started using Adobe CS5 and have noticed several issues that preplex
me:
1. I edit a video clip in Premiere and put it into the que for Adobe Media Encoder to convert. The input file in Premiere is an HD MPG2 file. I've set the file output to be Blu-ray AVCHD with AC-3. After Adobe Media Encoder finishes converting the file, the time lengts of the video (M4V) and audio (AC3) do not match. They usually differ by 2 to 6 seconds. This causes video/audio sync problems when brought into Encore.
2. Some files that I que into Media Encoder from Premiere state that "Rendering media." I proceed with the conversion and every thing seems OK except it's not. When these files are brought into Encore, the first part of the files produce the same message. It seems that this part of the file is never rendered.
3. I had 250 gb available on my system drive before I started using Adobe CS5 but that free space quickly disappeared. I did learn how to clean up the cache mannually. It would seem that Adobe could do this automatically.
Any suggestions?

Question about CS5.5 Master Collection working with video

Regarding CS5.5 Master Collection. I have a long video that I would like to clip out one minute segments from, adding titles to each one. Which programs in the suite would be the best/easiest to use for this purpose? Is Premiere overkill for that?

Question about CS5 Student & Teacher Edition

Currently, CS5 is available at an 80% discount for the S&T edition. I was wondering if I were to buy and install it on my current computer, would I still be able to reinstall on a future computer? I'm not quite sure how licences work, or if it's a one computer download. Thanks.

Simple Downloading Question about CS5

Hi! I purchased CS5.5 Creative Suite, but I don't have the disks anymore (they're packed in the back of our storage unit—meanwhile, our computer went in for repair and the harddrive was wiped clean). How can I download the software without the disks?

That is correct. Your camera was first supported by Camera Raw 7.3. Camera Raw 7.3 will not work with CS5. You need CS6 or CC.

It all depends on your preferred workflow and your budget.
Using the DNG converter is free. There is no monthly fee. You use the converter to convert all Raw files from the EOS 6D to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS5. That's an extra step every time - every photo. Some people don't like the extra step. Others don't mind.

A few question about iPhone OS in CS5 and CS5 in general.

I'm an IT trainer and I am trying to introduce my students to programming for iPhone/iPod Touch. (They are Secondary 2 students. 14 years old) The school is using a windows computer and CS5 right now is the best for the class (Not a steep learning curve and a user-friendly program). I know about the problems over the iPhone OS in CS5 with Apple but I was told it is still available for use. Furthermore, we have no intention of bringing the apps created to the Apple Store. I've tried the trial version and before I make any purchase, I would actually like to ask a few questions.
Is the iPhone OS in the trial version itself complete? Is there anything left out from the trial version because when I tried it, it seems fine however I did not try publishing to an iPhone due to the certificates. Is there a reason for the certificate? Is there any way around it because if there isn't do I need to get a certificate for every single student? (I'm looking at a class of 40 students.) Is the certificate available for windows platform?
Lets say, I got myself a certificate, create a simple program and then publish it, can I immediately bring it over to iTunes and then sync? Will it work that way? I don't want it to be too tedious for the students to see the end result. I've done quite a few research and have come across people having problems bringing it into their devices. Those people mention about bringing it to Cydia and needing to jailbreak the device. The devices made available for the students are not jailbroken. Will iPhone OS with proper certification still need Cydia for use with their device? Will only jailbroken device allow a CS5 app? I hope you get what I'm trying to say. We as trainers do not support teaching students to jailbreak, so that's definitely a no-no.
Another thing about CS5. Previously I have called customer support about the CS4 the school is using now and the problem with nested animation when publishing the animation as a video file, is this problem still in CS5? Does CS5 allow nested animation to be published as a video file? If it isn't, is there any way around it?

Could you tell me this alert specific to zfs file system, I was searching the mount parameter options specific to file size, but not able to get anything. Below are the system parameters.

1)Filter->lens correction->search online
i get often and almost every connection time out at the first click on search online , at the second click i get no online profile
is it normal?
2) question is about Gpu
it run faster , but talking about ajustament layer
like saturation or vibrance for example
i found with the gpu on , a light slow refresh compared with gpu off
i have set cache levels 6 ,history 20
i guess are the defaul
well i add a saturation layer and move the saturation slide ,increase o decrease saturation
with Gpu Off , the changes are immedially , i mean i can see in real time the increase o decrease of saturation
with Gpu On it takes a few(very few) time more
again is normal ?

For what it's worth, I also see a timeout on the first [ Search Online ] click, after about half a minute delay. Second click turns up results immediately. This happens each time Lens Correction is started, even without restarting Photoshop, and in both 32 and 64 bit versions. Also note that I started with one profile listed by default (though from the wrong camera) for my 40D with 28-135 zoom.
I alsow noticed that I was seeing progress bar activity in the Lens Correction dialog while I was typing this (even though Lens Correction was NOT the active window) every time I hit the 'L' key. Strange.

A couple questions about exporting to PDF from the latest version of InDe.
First, I have noticed that it seems to take a lot longer to get to a PDF. Any suggestions for how to speed up the process? It took 8 minutes or so to generate a low-res PDF (for print) of a 24pp document with a few placed images and vector graphics. Wow, that's a long time to wait, especially for a proof.
Second, the background task... if I get it going on making that 8-minute PDF and then work some more on the document, what exactly is in the PDF? Usually I save before making a PDF or printing. So, is the last version saved what will be in the PDF?
(As an aside, this ability to work on the doc while generating a PDF seems kind of weird. Generally one makes a PDF for proofing, or even for printing, when all the changes have been made and everything is "final". So, I see no benefit to being able to work on my document while it's making a PDF, as I'm probably finished making revisions for the time being. I have to say that I kind of like the progress bar you get when you make an interactive PDF, as you know you can't work on the document when that's on the screen... )

Yes, this is abnormally long (and too long), something is wrong. What's the full version of InDesign you are running, as reported by holding down Cmd or Control and selecting About InDesign?

Saving is not related. InDesign makes a database snapshot of your document the moment you begin the PDF export, and makes the export relative to that snapshot, regardless of edits you continue to make during the export process, and regardless of saving. Of course saving first is a good idea, for several reasons, not the least of which it sounds like something's fairly seriously wrong with your document or your InDesign installation.
We recommend you trash your preferences and export your document to IDML and see if either of those things changes this 8-minute behavior...err, assuming you're running 7.5.2.318.

Yeah, I think the primary benefit is if you are likely to work on 2 or more files in parallel, so you can finish A and export A and then switch to B. If you'd like a dialog box to pop up when export is done, check out my exportPop script from this post: ANN: automatic dialog after background export (exportPop.jsx.

A question about upgrades and mroe upgrades

I've got a question about the upgrade sequence and costs thereof
I have CS5.5 Production Premium. Suppose I upgrade to CS6 production Premium. If, when CS6.5 comes out and I decided to upgrade, would it be considered an upgrade from 5.5 or 6 for pricing purposes?
I presume the older the software the more expensive the upgrade but if I'm upgrading from my CS6 upgrade would it be considered an upgrade from CS5.5 9the original suite) or an upgrade from CS6?

You have a CS5.5 now. Now, you upgrade to CS6.
When CS6.5 come out. It will be considered as an upgrade from CS6 (and not CS5.5 which is your original suite). Hope this is clear

You MUST be talking about the Properties panel, where adjustment layer info is shown, because the dialogs you get when you do things like Image - Adjust - Levels or Image - Adjust - Curves is not resizeable in any way I can see. At least not on a PC.
No, there's no special option that allows dialog sizes to be saved separately. It's just one panel, and the size of the panel itself defines the size of the contents up to each of their max sizes.

Question about CS3 & Windows 7...

I'm actually asking for a friend. They have CS3 Master Collection and they are running Windows XP SP3. They want to upgrade their system to a Windows 7, but they don't want to be out of the Adobe products either, especially after the price they paid for them. They will eventually be upgrading to CS 5.5 by the end of 2012.
However, the friend has heard mixed feedback about it. Some people who have installed it on their Win7 system said it WORKED, but it made their system performance DRAG. Other people have said that it WILL NOT install... it gives errors and will not activate.
Has anyone successfully installed Photoshop CS3/CS3 Master Collection on a Windows 7 system? Will my friend need to run the programs in 'Compatibility for Windows XP' mode?

I have been looking now for several weeks, months even for some resolve to the known issues. There are posts about the pdf printer that does not work in windows 7 on the adobe's tech site.. I just wanted geminigirl6879 to know that they may run into issues. Forums are for that reason and the idea that you want to sensor replies to the ligitmate question a user may have really defeats the purpose. I have called Tech Support on my issues, posted on forums and scoured the internet, all i can find is that Adobe does not support windows 7 and cs3. Not only that, the posts i read about CS5.5 on widows 7 concerns me about adobe and their attitude to us smaller users.
